Vargus
From Chronicles
Description
A seemingly humanoid form, Vargus stands about 5'6" and is of a fairly bulky build for his frame. His skin is taned and weathered, as of someone who spends a lot of time in the sun. His sandy blonde hair is worn a little long, or perhaps it just hasn't been cut for some time as he bangs are constantly getting in his eyes, which are a rather bright blue. He wears a trimmed gotee that is quite in contrast with his wild mop of hair, and a thin mustache that is a shade or so darker then his sun-drenched head. He moves with an ease and confidence, and by his look could be in his early thirties.
He is wearing a loose-fitting tan shirt that is tucked into a pair of light brown, but well-constructed pants, and a pair of heavy black leather boots. A silver ankh on a chain hangs around his neck. Over the ensemble is a light brown leather jacket.
His right shoulder sports a reinforced pad, with straps that cross his chest and back to attach to the left side of his belt. The configuration is meant to help distruibute weight. A pair of military-style forearm guantlets encase each of his forearms. A translucent screen can be seen in the surface of the left gauntlet and a trio of metal points poke out from the front of the housing, above his wrist. Tucked behind the oversized buckle of a segmented metalic belt is a thick pair of leather gloves. A number of pouches and buckled brackets hang from the belt here and there, some stuffed full while others hang empty. Under the cape, attached in the small of his back, is a small heavy canvas duffle-style pack, visible sometimes when he moves. Currently, his cloak is bunched up a bit around his shoulders and underneith a large peice of technology can be seen. A Wilk's jetpack is strapped to his back, under the cloak. The jet nozzles are free of any interference from pack or cloak. The control cable runs up his left arm to the computer built into his wrist gauntlet. Hanging from the belt at his right hip is a large pistol holster. The weapon contained within seems to be of a sturdy, squareish build. A matte black ceramic rifle is worn across his back held in place by a heavy shoulder strap. The rifle is oddly angled around the barrel, and an e-clip can be seen in the weapons handle as well as the back of the weapon's body. Snugged into a leather holster attached to a strap across his chest, is a good-sized revolver, rigged to have easy access from the right hand.Slung from one shoulder is a heavy-looking rifle of unknown manufacture. The top of the weapon is smooth, and slightly curved. The trigger assembly and barrel looking like they just poke out from the main assembly. A collapsable stock is built into the back of the weapon and a power cable runs from the weapon to a power pack worn on his right hip.
Resting on his shoulder sits a large bird that looks like a mechanical bald. It has a metalic sheen around the head and claws, with chromed feathers the color of silver and bronze. The metallic color is offset by an emerald green pattern of fiber optic bands that run through the metallic bird's structure.
WYSKA
Blake Vargus is a subset of the Shifter, colloquially known as the 'Artifact Hunter'. He has an interest in archaeology and pre-rifts history and has been known to buy odd or unique artifacts. He often talks about 'foreign missions', and by extrapolation he means other dimensions. Being a Shifter, and someone with quite a hyperactive sense of curiosity, he's known for disappearing for days or weeks at a time, having stepped through some rift somewhere just to see the other side. He is often seen in the company of a rather large metallic eagle, his familiar Steelwind.
Hooks
Blake Vargus can be found in a variety of places around Kingsdale:
- He frequents social establishements in the 'magic scene' and can be found poking around The Monolith, doing anything he possibly can to be noticed by the Guild.
- He offers his services in transport to prospective members to facilitate their quests, and is known to occasionally sell bits of dimensional information to Numo (of the Guild Store) or Slither (of the Alchemy Shop). Once one has purchased a bit of information, he will not sell it to anyone else without the original buyers permission.
- During times of increased PPE he will seek permission to approach the fortress built near the local nexus point, and use the additional available energy to facilitate the casting of various spells.
- He offers his services to those needing a 'dimensional guide'.
- And he often seeks adventuring groups or mercenary companies who need the abilities of a Shifter to keep his skills sharp.
