(From Ea) Hey! What's supposed to go here?

Adad, is one of the Storytellers on Chronicles. He isn't staff, but he is very close. He is responsible for telling stories, running TPs, and all around making it interesting for the players.

Adad's Own Words

Don't worry, be happy!

Technically, I am actually not "one of" the StoryTellers here on Chronicles, I am the StoryTeller here on Chronicles. But to be honest, I like it that way. Too many cooks, and all that. I truly enjoy bringing stories to everyone here on Chronicles! My particular area of expertise in the Rifts world lies with technology, though I am becoming fairly well acquainted with psionics at this time. I run everything from mid-week scenes to weekend tiny plots to months-long story arcs. I would encourage anyone to at least poke their noses around with a few +jobs and IC interaction with other PCs to get a feel for what's out there. I never want to hear that you're bored because there's nothing to do, because even if it were only myself, we have multiple plots running. Something should interest everyone.

If you ever want or need to contact me online, please feel free to page me (I'll tell you if I can't talk) and of course, @mail is always useful. I will usually get back to you within a day or less. As far as the actually running of plots, I try to maintain an 11:00pm Pacific cutoff (which is 8:00pm for me), but will go long to midnight if it's necessary.

When I run plots and scenes, I do it as realistically as possible. It will be an unlikely event for a PC to simply schedule a meeting with the passing ambassador from Atlantis with whom you have an interest. I run scenes that build for that kind of thing, and you need to work for it. I can be very generous when it comes to the +job system, but if you have no skills to do an off-camera +job, a scene will be necessary. Always remember that we have a grid full of PCs, and someone would probably like to help you out, including with our skill assistance system.

If you have any critique, good or bad, or just would like to say hello, please feel free to email me at my standard address.

If you don't have anything special to do? Get out and read the Classics! Classic literature from Greek philosophy to fantastic science fiction. You'll find not only great stories and interesting history but also great inspiration for scenes and your own player-run plots. These are great places, the Classic Literature Network and the Literature Project. Go read, enjoy when you're not in RP. Want more? Try the Great Books Index and of course the English Literary Canon.

Finally, we come to this. I don't want to kill characters, it is not rewarding. But please be aware that in my plots and even individual scenes, any PC may end up maimed or dead if the plot realistically plays out that way. This means that a PC will usually have to do something incredibly brave or incredibly stupid to be put in that position, but it can happen.

Personal Commentary

I'm a nice guy! I like quiet, fun and I do not like to argue with anyone, period. I do my best to make sure that everyone is happy, but please do not mistake kindness with weakness. I will push back harder than you. I like delivering stories to the grid, and if you get to know me better, maybe you'll know why! It's all about having fun in the end anyway. So good luck to you, I'll see you out there.

A map of my life.

Adad's Final Thought

Also be sure that you've read and and understand the help files and rules. They have been written, and written carefully for good reason. Knowing them will keep your PC from getting into trouble, and keep higher Staff than me from getting grumpy.
