Tue Oct 09 03:20:22 108 PA Handgun Training
From Chronicles
Bartholemew, as usual through all of this, foots the bill for space, ammo, and any other needed supplies for training. Far as he's concerned, this is a company matter. He's waiting up front for Val to show up before actually heading back and starting their time for the booth.
Valeriya certainly doesnt mind learning and teaching on company time. Thus she's quite prompt tp be at the range on time and meet Bart in the booth to start the lesson. She pulls out her c-5 with a slight nod to Bart as she takes position. "Here we are again, hopefully I can teach you as well as you taught me." She says with a smirk.
Bartholemew smiles giving a nod as he sets up the area they are going to be playing in. "I'm sure you'll be fine. Weapons are an easy teach. Not like quantum mechanics or anything." he chuckles. He's brought his own C-5 along with some training rounds.
Valeriya nods and considers Bart for a moment, taking in some details to custumize her teaching. "Alright well you seem to be pretty experience with weaponry in general. Have you fired a pistol of any kind before?" She asks, proping for the best place to begin.
Bartholemew noves a sharp nod in response while slapping his Wilks Pistols holstered at either side. "Sure nuff. Need somethin with more bang than these though, hopin this C-5 will do the trick. I'm still unclear how to load the damn thing properly though. Been playin with it, but it's not seeming to work right." as if blaming the gun covers the real reason.
"Well you can fire a shot until its loaded so we'll start their." Valeriya agrees and brings hers to hand inbetween them so Bart can clearly see what she does. "Pull here to eject the magazine." She says as she does so and the metal cartridge pops free to show its fully loaded with five shells. She then puts the c-g down to focus on the magazine itself and slides one of the golf ball sized slugs out. "The magazine is spring fed, so when a round is removed or fired the next one moves up. Removing and loading is fairly simple. Remove a shell by pushing it forward out of the magazine. To replace a shell push down the shell or spring in the magazine and push the new shell into the space opened." She explains, removing and replacing a single shell before handing over the magazine. "Remove, replace and remove again all five shells." From afar, Pavel nods. Cool.
Bartholemew fumbles for a moment mimicing her with his own weapon. The empty magazine popping out easily enough into hand. "Yeah, this part I figured out, kinda like an e-clip almost." Watching her closely with the projectiles, "This is the part I wasn't getting. Never worked with projectiles cept missles an grenades." following her instructions, he pops a training round into his magazine, going for the second, pops out of his hand and onto the floor. "Bah." Leaving it there he just moves onto another from the box. One by one, he finally fills it with five. "I think their in the right way."
Valeriya nods in agreement to Bart. "They are pretty hard to put in the wrong way, so that makes it easier. Time consuming though I bet you notice, reloading in a fight is not fun. Unless you have one of these." She explains reaching to her belt to pull out a plastic device. "This is a speed laoder for the c-5, it can save your ass in that instead of loading the rounds one at a time you hook this up and slide them right in." She explains, demonstrating on her own now empty magiazine before handing bart the contraption. To set it up simply slide the rounds inline, no pushing or pressing. I can usually slide in three or four at a time. Then hold it to the magazine and push the plunger to push all five rounds in much faster. Some practice and reloading becomes a snap."
Bartholemew watches and is impressed by the speed loader but questions, "Why not just carry full magazines, change em out that way?" Now that the magazine is loaded, he reverse engineers it back into place with a click, then looks for something, "Ok, now with an e-clip there's a switch to activate, where's the switch here?"
"Because this Coalition organization that makes these has a rod up its butt and designed them so each gun only works with its one magazine. Some kind of theft deterent. Usual military bull." Valeriya relates with clear irritation before leaning down to grab the round Bart dropped on the floor. "Now a note on the grenades. As you've just seen they dont break like and egg. No they have to be fired a velocity and hit a target at velocity in order to trigger the detonation. If you miss and the grenade goes off another thousand feet it probably wont detonate. But you wont likely find it either."
Bartholemew nods in full understanding of the military bull. "Then I'll be sure to pick one of them speed loaders then." he continues his nods here and there as she explains the grenades of the weapon, seeming to understand all that she has said. "Well, now that we got em loaded, lets see what kind a bang they make." his smile showing his eagerness to get to the real fun of weapons training, firing the weapon.
Valeriya nods and lets Bart take his first shot at putting a one foot blast mark on the practice dummy. "Well the bang is too fold, one is the kick, which can dislocate your wrist if your too loose in your firing. The other is that of the grenade hitting the target. Standard rounds will do a 12 inch diammeter explosion damage to your target, certainly capable. However I find that the weapon is truly versatile in custom rounds that dont really damage the target but are very debilitating to a large area and possibly several targets." She explains pausing to see how Bart found the kick with a smirk. "Also when aiming rounds with a larger blast radius it can be quite beneficial to aim at the ground below your target instead."
Bartholemew listens as he moves into position. He's had some experience with firing pistols, this shouldn't be to much different there. With both hands he lines up on a still target down the range. Feet spread shoulder width apart, squared to the target. "So aim low." he says just as he pulls the trigger. And Click. Nothing happens. With a confused look he looks at the weapon. "Oh yeah, activating the clip." turning to Val with a dumb grin, "Where's the switch? Figure its mechanical instead of electronic."
"Opposite side as the release, red means fire." Valeriya answers quickly smirking at the safety feature she forgot. One may wonder if she's ever used it. Bartholemew chuckles as it becomes plain as day when she mentions it. And again he lines up his shot. Looking to aim low. He pulls the trigger and Bang! The projectile exits the weapon throwing Bart's arms up over his head sending the weapon flying from his hands. "Damn!" is all he can really get out. More than his target though. Giving his shoulder a rub he picks up the weapon, "You wer'nt kidding on that kick." he chuckles. "Too used to Wilk's, don't even know it's there. Let's try this again." sounding determined.
Valeriya grins, as she was clearly waiting for it. "Well now you know. And you can see how if you shot it one handed without locking your wrist you'd be on the ground before your opponent." She notes as he recovers the handgun. As he returns she moves to help him position his arm to properly withstand the force this time, ensuring his arm is perfectly strain and inline to prevent a jarring twist under the pressure.
Bartholemew follows her instruction to the tee. That last shot wasn't fun. "This a borg kinda weapon? Felt like it belongs in one of them hands." Positioning his arm and wrist as best he can to her instruction, he fires again. It moves him, but only a good step back. The arm held, just his balance was of slightly, causing him to readjust taking the step backward. "I can see this one's gonna take some gettin used to." giving his shoulder another rub down still from the first blast. His target however has a chance to fire back still.
Valeriya shakes her head as she considers the comparison. "No, you've just been spoiled by lasers. If it was a weapon designed for those with augmentation in the best case scanrio your shoulder would be dislocated and in the worst scneario your arm would have been removed completely. Handguns fire what are called low velocity projectiles. Railguns fire high velocity projectiles, at ten times the speed and requiring ten times the force to accomplish it." She explains with a slight shrug.
Bartholemew chuckles, "Hence, time for a change." moving back into position again. This time he changes his footing a bit to prepare for the balance issue, still taking in consideration the position of his arm and wrist. Once again the projectile launches from the weapon, Bart's body showing the kick, but keeping his feet firm and arm solid. Still he misses the target, had this not been a test, this soldier would be taking fire once again. "Think I'm payin too much mind to my stance and losin my sight. Looks like too spoiled by tech targeting too."
Valeriya smirks and shakes her head at being spoiled by tech targeting. Well these guns dont have the range of others so tech targeting would make it really easy. Its a lot like aiming a rifle though, just more open. The key factor is to keep your arm perfectly strainght with the posts of the gun lining up at eye level." She explains, gesturing to the front and back post and adjusting bart's arm a bit. "Once you get this locked in you can consider how you need to move the rest of your body to suit your target."
Bartholemew nods keeping his arm in position as shown, he adjust his body from there to get the sight on the target. BOOM! BOOM! He fires two shots this time, the second throwing him off balance again, but not enough to need a step. The target is obliterated by both shots. Not a pretty shot from a technical standpoint, but was successful in its mission.
Valeriya smiles at the success ful shots and steps back to take up her own c-5 and offer comparison. Her muscle memory locking the gun to aim is probably noticed right away as she quickly lines up the target to two shots of her own. The gun doesnt seem to phase her at all but thats probably due to her notable physique.
Bartholemew watches her shots and then fires off the final shot of his, again, hitting his target. "Alright then, now that I got the basics, I can sit here and work on it a bit. Appreciate the time today."
"No problem, have fun." Valeriya says as she collects her c-5 to move on to her other tasks today.
