Anti-Magic Cloud

Question: Are magic items in their possession affected?

ANSWER: The caster's items, as long as they are on the caster and aren't removed will be immune to the spell.

Question: Are magical items they personally enchanted affected?

ANSWER: Items created by the caster will be effected if on someone else prior to casting the spell.

Chromatic Protection

Question: Chromatic protection says it penetrates MDC armor. Will it do the same for PA, robots and vehicles? As the magical flash assaults the eyes directly, I would think that it might effect all of the above, so long as the subject is with the short range.

ANSWER: It would effect MDC Armor, PA, RA, and Vehicles. As long as there are places for the light to get through.

Darkness

Question: This is an unnatural darkness which cannot be dispelled by normal flames. Nightvision and optic systems are cut to half in such enchanted darkness, and passive nightsight is blinded. Only the warlock can see clearly in the darkness; add + 15% prowl skill and +1 to strike. Victims that are blind in the darkness are — 9 to strike, parry and dodge.

ANSWER: If the individual has active Nightvision and/or Optic Systems then their visual range is cut in half. If their range extends outside of the range of the Darkness Spell, then there is no penalty. If there range does not extend outside of the effected range, then they are at half the penalty list in the spell.

Dimensional Envelope

Question: It seems cut off as it just ends 'what happens to things stored when it.' when it ends?

ANSWER: The items are thrust back into the real world right where the Envelope would was created.

Question: Is a Dimensional Envelope portable?

ANSWER: No, it isn't portable.

Question: Can you access a specific Dimensional Envelope from another locaiton.

ANSWER: No. This is a fixed enchantment which can only be accesed where it is cast.

Deflect

Question: This may seem like an obvious question, but as it's not stated, and Rifts can be quirky.. can these spells be cast as if they are a 'parry' of an attack? I would assume so similar to the use of a Psychic Body Field, otherwise the spells would be just about useless. But.. I'm asking to make sure, as it does actually require time to utter words to cast a spell as far as I know.

ANSWER: This spell is an exception to the rule, and it can be cast reflexively as part of the spell's parry its self.

Energy Field

Question: Is the spell Energy Field mobile?

ANSWER: No, once the spell Energy Field is cast it stays exactly where it is located. Furthermore, the spell must be dropped to leave the field or fire things out of it. It stops all movement or attacks going both directions. Now, spells or effects which do not originate from those inside will still work. For example, as Call Lighting originates from the sky, a mage could cast that spell and hit things outside of the Energy Field.

Extinguish Fire

Question Does the spell Extinguish Fire work on magic/psychic induced fire, or only on common, mundane fires?

ANSWER: If the magic/psychic generated fire is a one time effect, and just creates fire to be spread around, for example, the Pyrokinesis Create Spontaneous Combustion's effect could be put out. But the Pyrokinesis ability Create Flame is a persistent effect, thus it would only momentarily quench the effect and the next round it would spring back to life.

Float in Air

Question: What is the weight limit of Float in Air spell?

ANSWER: On CoK, the spell can effect the caster, a person (of whatever size), or an object of 200 lbs + 100 lbs per level.

Fly as the Eagle

Question: How much additional can someone carry after this spell is cast?

ANSWER: No more than 50 lbs per level of additional weight beyond the normal caster's body weight and normal equipment.

Frequency Jamming

Question: In regard to Frequency Jamming, will this effect the communications systems on a suit of PA? If cast on a suit, would it jam all of its sensors and communications or would it only effect some. If some, which ones? Random or can the caster select which to take out?

ANSWER: This spell will effect sensors and communications for the duration of the spell. It can effect a single communications function. For example, you could target a Samas or Aboloisher and knock out the Radio. Or you could knock out the Radar. Or whatever single communications function you want to. But only 1 at a time. Or if your really sneaky, you can run up and touch the target and effect two of communications functions. Risky, but it might be worth it. Or you could touch two different targets and effect a single communication function on each. The casters choice.

House of Glass

Question: With House of Glass, it notes that the damage done against someone is reflected back in mirror, such that if you strike the body, the person shooting will take damage to the body. I would assume that includes if they are in armor or in a vehicle. Also, when this spell is cast on a PA user, I assume that it turns him and his PA to 'glass' such that both are effected. How would it work for robots and vehicles with more than one pilot, if at all?

ANSWER: In the description of this spell it talks about effecting the person and the person's armor. So in this case if the Mage can cast the spell.

Impervious to Energy

Question: Does the spell Impervious to Energy make one immune to things such as Blinder Grenades, or magical spells/effects such as Blinding Flash and Chromatic Protection?

ANSWER: After reviewing Impervious to Energy, I would have to rule that it would not protect someone from Blinding Flash, Blinder Grenades or Chromatic Protection.

Otherwise Impervious to Energy would basically make someone blind from sunlight or other normal lights.

Implosion Neutralizer

Question: This may seem like an obvious question, but as it's not stated, and Rifts can be quirky.. can these spells be cast as if they are a 'parry' of an attack? I would assume so similar to the use of a Psychic Body Field, otherwise the spells would be just about useless. But.. I'm asking to make sure, as it does actually require time to utter words to cast a spell as far as I know.

ANSWER: This spell is an exception to the rule, and it can be cast reflexively as part of parry against the incoming attack which meets the criteria to use against the spell.

Invisibility: Simple

Question: If someone has a small animal or living weapon does the Invisibility: Simple spell cover them when cast on ones self.

ANSWER: If the animal or living weapons is physical attached such as its function is to wrap around ones armor or leg for use, then it will be rendered invisible by the spell. Otherwise, it will not be effected by the spell.

Purge Self/Other

Question: Can Purge Self/Other be used to cure a Vampire of their vampireism?

ANSWER: No, it can't cure a Vampire and turn them back into a mortal. But it can be used to remove the effect of the slow kill.

It can also be used to purge a Vampire slave of the Vampire's influence. But they would always be considered an unwilling recipient.

See the Invisible

Question: Can someone using the magic version of See the Invisible see someone using Invisibility: Superior?

Answer: Yes, but it they only appear as a semi-transparent ghost-like image and if attacked by someone with this ability there is a -2 to strike.

Question: When someone is using Invisibility: Superior against someone using See The Invisible, what is the prowl bonus?

Answer: Well, as See Invisible allows you to see someone using Invisibility: Superior, but only as a ghostly outline and at -2 penalty to strike. I think a prowl bonus of +10% would make sense. Now, that assumes that the person using Invisibility: Superior is actively attempting to prowl and not just rely on the power of the spell. If the person is not actively attempting to prowl then the bonus would not apply.

Teleport: Lesser

Question: Can someone teleport something off another's body?

ANSWER: No, for two important reasons.

First, this spell is an exception to the spell casting rules and takes a full two full melee rounds (30 seconds) to cast.

Second, an object must not be in the possession of a person at the time you are casting the spell. Thus, armor, belts, or even an object in another person's hand can not be teleported away through the use of Teleport: Lesser.

Question: What about teleporting a container, such as a chest of gold? Or a padlock on a chest?

ANSWER: If the entire chest is under 50 lbs, then you can teleport the entire chest. If the padlock isn't physically part of the chest it could be teleported off. But if the padlock was built into the chest, then it can't be teleported off as it is part of the whole object.

Time Slip

Question: How does Time Slip work on CoK?

ANSWER: Due to the phase system CoK uses, we have modified how this spell works to fit our combat system:

As soon as the Mage casts Time Slip, they drop out of time for 2 actions. These are two additional actions which take place immediately. It should be posed as single action.

Question: What can someone effect while in the Time Slip effect?

ANSWER: First, no surprise can be granted from this spell if cast within combat. Second, the cast may not directly or indirectly effect the non-Time slipped world. Specifically, no offensive action can be taken. For example, you cannot toss a grenade at someone, waiting for it to go off once the spell ends. Or cast Carpet of Adhesion before someone. As soon as an offensive action is taken, the spell ends and combat resumes.

You may move behind someone, so you could take a shot from the rear after the spell ends. But this type of action does not provide a 'surprise attack' type action.

Winged Flight

Quesiton: How much can someone carry while using Winged Flight?

ANSWER: They carry the equivalent as their PS, just like the spell Supernatural or Bionic Strength is ignored.
