From Chronicles

Jeremy is sitting in a large booth waiting for his appointment. He is wearing long, white, clean robes. His two large pointy horns stick out from his light reddish-tan skin. He looks to be in his middle ages but his dark blue eyes look haunted. In front of him is a plate of fish and he seems to be picking at his food idly as he waits.
A shortish, Slavic looking gentleman with salt-and-pepper hair enters the Silver Fork. His clothing is definitely casual, but he moves through as if he's very, very used to being in this type of surrounding. He pauses to speak with the maitre' De, who points in Jeremy's direction. The other man claps him politely on the back, and makes his way through the tables over to where the devilman is seated. His voice is on the edge of pure and gravely, strong, but not forceful, in the tenor range. His accent, though? Odd. Long vowels, drawn consonants. In another time and place, it would be instantly identified as belonging to a man from Appalachian Kentucky. As he pulls alongside the table and stops, he asks, "Pardon me, sir, my name is Gabriel. Gabriel Blaze. I'm looking for a Mr. Black?"
Jeremy stands up at Gabriel's approach to the table and he gives the other man a slight nod of his head. "I am Mr. Black. Please have a seat. We can see if you are interested in my proposal." He takes his seat back and scoots in a little under the table. He politely waits for Gabriel to take a seat. Taking a small sip of water he takes a moment to look Gabriel up and down. "I was glad to get your letter Mr. Blaze. I am needing men and women most urgently. I, for personal reasons, try my best to keep track of what is happening in the war to the North. Especially to those who are captured, and what happens to them. I have become aware of, what you humans, call a concentration camp run by the Coalition. I have also become aware of prisoners being moved to that camp. I wish to see these prisoners free Mr. Blaze."
Gabriel's much smaller frame slides easily into the seat, with a, "Thank you, Mr. Black." He holds up a staying hand and waves down a passing waiter: "Glass of water, please. Thank you." He then turns his gaze back to the devilman. "I apologize, it's hot out, and I've not had much opportunity for a drink." A throat is politely cleared, and his head nods. "So what are we talking? Treblinka? Dachau? Belzec? Something smaller, perhaps? It's my experience that Nazis don't let their prisoners go easy. Stopping a whole transport, that would be pretty difficult." His head quirks to one side and his tone changes ever so slightly. "These prisoners, the captives. Maybe they aren't quite so human? I don't need to know why they're being taken. I'll try to release them. But I like to know what I'm working with. If the Coalition sees these people as so special, well... that would seem to indicate that there's something special about them."
Jeremy shakes his head before pausing to take another sip of water. "No there is no vehicle traveling. The prisoners are being force marched by a small squad of grunts. This is why it is such a time for freeing them. There are a various group of humans and other races. None of these races are dangerous otherwise they would have been killed and not sent to this... camp. Most of the humans are women. You do not wish to know what will happen to them. The men of all the races will be worked to death. This is not a group of warriors. These are men and women whose only crime was having homes within territory that the Coalition decided to claim. Those that faught were killed. This is what happens to the rest Mr. Blaze."
"I've seen it before. Japan's Korean "comfort women." Hitler and Himmler working Red Army captives to death. Anyone who wasn't Aryan, and lived outside of Germany's original borders, they were less than human." Gabriel then nods in clear irony and adds, "Except for the fucking French. They somehow managed to get away with it by bending over and taking it up the ass. But I'm getting off subject." His glass is tilted up, then gentle placed back on the floor. "How many prisoners, roughly. Any approximate count on the grunts? Who they are? Infantry comes in many kinds. Good, bad, and ugly, to rip off a movie title."
Jermey cuts a small piece of his fish and then takes a bite of what he cut. "I am afraid that this is not the best place for such details. I also wish to brief the group as a whole not each individual. I wish to know if you will take the job Mr. Blaze. I will tell you this that the infantry will not have very good equipment and there will not be many of them. As for the prisoners I am unsure of the exact count but 20 or 30 of them would be expected. I will tell you an area where you may ambush them unit out of range of radio contact. Will you take this task Mr. Blaze?"
Gabriel leans back deeply in his seat, and his right hand's fingers drum on the table-top for a moment. His eyes are that kind of vacant that says, "Hey, don't bother me, I'm thinking." He stays that way for a surprising while then begins to nod, and gently slaps the table with his hand. More of a tap, really. "I can handle the group, and maybe one or two infantry by myself, just to guarantee everyone's safety. Particularly if you give me a good ambush point. If you can get two other contractors " - interesting choice of terms - " then I'll definitely help you out. If not, well... I'll have to see what kind of equipment you can get for me, to pull off a one-man ambush and rescue. Recharge any used magazines, fixed armor. Let you feel if I warrant a 'tip' or not. Does that sound fair, Mr. Black?"
Jeremy looks confused for a moment. "Mr. Blaze you will not be the only one going to accomplish this task. I hope to organize a solid group to free and escort the prisoners back here to Kingsdale. You will not have to worry about doing this by yourself. I will be looking for experienced mercenaries to acomplish this ambush as fast and as clean as possible. If you wish to belong to this group then I will welcome you."

Jeremy Black is sitting alone in a booth. His long, white, clean robes provide an interesting contrast to his reddish skin. His horns are well kept and he appears to be a well groomed individual. He has a cup of tea sitting in front of him while he waits. A small black book is next to the pot of tea.
Tirzah makes her way into the Silver Fork dressed for the establishment in her warlocks gown. Gems adorning her wrist and beads in her hair she looks plenty flashy for the posh uptown crowd and moves through the silver fork like she is one of them. A brief survey of the tables finds her mark for the night. Look for the horns just like her said. She moves towards the table and stops beside it. "Mr Black, I am Tirzah. May I join you?"
Jeremy quickly stands up and bows his head to Tirzah. "Please Miss Tirzah. Be seated." He says while gesturing to the seat opposite himself. He remains standing until Tirzah sits, then he in turn takes his own seat. "You said that you were interested in the task that I am hiring for yes? Do you wish to learn more details Miss? Or is it Mrs? I apologize if I addressed you incorrectly."
"Just Tirzah, less complicated that way." She advises with a reassuring voice. "And yes, more details would be wonderfull. As head of Arcane Solutions keeping an ear to the ground for problems is just good business sense, and i here you have one. I am sure I or maybe we can solve it, but would here more on it from you before taking the contract."
Mr. Black frowns slightly before nodding his head. "As you wish." He concedes before lifting his cup of tea from it's saucer and taking a small sip of the hot tea. "I, for personal reasons, have been keeping a close eye upon the war to the north. I have found through various contacts evidence of a, as you humans call it, concentration camp. I have again found out through my contacts that there are a group of prisoners that are going to be marched to this camp. I wish for this not to happen. Therefore I am hiring people to prevent the arrival of foresaid prisoners. Do you wish to help in this task Mis... Tirzah."
Tirzah takes a moment to consider whats given and whats not, ordering some tea for herself as she does. "Thats rather delicate timing, springing them before they get to the camp. It may not be feasible. They could be in the camp already.." She points out with a direct glance at Mr. Black. "Is there a particular reason behind that stipulation sir?"
Mr. Black cradles the porcelain tea cup between his hands. "They move prisoners rather regularly. I will give the group I hire plenty of details to ambush the small group of soldiers force marching these prisoners. I do not wish to see more people befall the fate that awaits them at that camp. Most of the prisoners are women, and no woman deserves that fate. I will pay and try to take care of these prisoners once they are freed and brought to Kingsdale. The camp can not be easily assualted, but my contacts are quite reliable on when they are being moved. Some Coalition soldiers do not think people should be treated such, especially their own race's women."
Tirzah raises a brow at the disclosure that human women are involved. "That is low for them. Goes to show the way this war if revealing truth I guess. Anyway I do agree it will be easier to spring them before they get to the camp. But leaving others to that fate does not sit well with me when I am in the vicinity. And I am quite capable when it comes to dealing with encampments. I would not expect more from you for doing so either, its just doing whats right after all." She explains to illustrate her viewpoint and see if its acceptable.
Mr. Black frowns as he nods his head slowly. "I do wish to free the camp. However it would take a large force to take it. It is well guarded. The immediate problem however is the prevention of these prisoners from reaching that camp. I am afraid that is pressing. While I do wish to free those already in the camp. I must be realistic and do what I can in the here and now. I do wish you to accept this task Mrs. Tirzah. The time frame on this is pressing as the prisoners will start their forced march soon. They need to be ambushed in a certain zone so that they can not use their armor's radios."
Tirzah says, "How about this then? I'll agree to this task as you state it and let you see my capabilities at work. Afterwards with that perspective I want you to reevaluate another trip to free the camp." She proposes as her tea arrives. She takes her time to serve her cup as she likes it as she listens to see if that more agreeable."
Mr. Black hesitates for a moment before bowing his head. "This I will try Mrs. Tirzah. It is my deepest wish to do this. I am not a warrior though. I am just a merchant, and I am spending every credit that I have to make sure that I can help as many of these people as possible. If it looks possible then I shall put my wealth behind such a raid. I do thank you for enlisting in this task. I look forward to briefing the group for the task, and then hopefully I will be able to resettle the freed prisoners."
Tirzah nods smiling now. "So glad we could come to an agreement. I would mention though that the second trip does not have to hit the pocketbook hard. As an encampment there will surely be things of value we can take and sell to ease that burden." She points out with an air of confidence. With that settled she looks to give something else a moment of thought before looking back to him. "So we've covered what is to be done. Now who to do it. Has anyone else contacted you on assiting yet?"
Mr. Black nods his head slowly up and down, solemnly. "I will keep such a task in mind. As for who else has enlisted is Colonel Blaze. His first name is Gabriel. He seemed to be quite enthusiastic. If you wish to recruit others I would be quite grateful. Please introduce them to me if you would."
Tirzah nods, recalling Gabriel. "I think I have one or two others in mind. And If I got the right impression on Gabriel he might have another in mind as well. I'll see to that now actually, unless you have more to add?'
Mr Black shakes his head as he stands up from his seat and offers Tirzah a deep bow. "I have no more to add at the moment. I thank you again for enlisting, and I also look forward to meeting the others that will enlist. Be well Mrs. Tirzah."
