Kingsdale - Yakov's Deli
Rasputin's Deli is a lively place, normally a short man is behind the counter serving up orders of beef, brisket, chicken, pork, sausage, fish and just about every other type of meat product you can imagine. Rasputin's is a well known secret to low, medium and high class people of all type. Rasputin has all sorts of customer's coming and going at all times of day or night. He isn't open 24-hrs, but he might as well be.
As you walk into the Deli, next to the door is a small lunch counter which faces out into the street. Opposite to the deli counter are four small booths. Both of these locations serve as eating space for those that choose to grab a quick bite of food or one of Yakov's and Rasputin's famous five meat monster deli sandwiches. Most people don't use these booths, but the lunch counter is constantly being used, as it provides a great people watching vantage.
It is mid morning and Yakov's Deli is still brissling of activity. Rasputin is flipping panckaes, making eggs, and grilling bacon... All at the same time it would seem. Most of the tables are full and a few buxum waitresses move patrons in and out of them as quickly as they can wolf down their omlettes and drink down the fresh orange juice. But as always, Rasputin sings his way throug the rush and everyone gets an good, neh, excellent meal.
Vadania blinks at the hussle and bussle of the crowd moving in and out. She pauses inside the door and stays out of hte way.
Watched from the door, the entire opperation seems to move like a ballet. Just floating around nice and evenly. A table opens up, as you notice a small sign by the door which reads (in several languages) order at the counter and seat yourself, please.
Vadania hmms softly as she waves several people ahead of her into the line of ordering and seating. Finally she checks a couple of her pouches to see if she has anything looking like the credits that are being exchanged.
There are a few people in the line, and interestingly enough enough, not all of them pay with credits. Some pay with little trinkets, or barter a little something for something. There are a few farmers who just have a conversation with Rasputin about one veggie or another, and then he yells "Da! Orders Uppink!" And more food goes onto the grill.
Vadania's lips quirk slightly as she looks over the barter. Then bites her lower lip as she pulls around one of the pouches behind her and peeks inside. Then slips into line and waits her turn.
The line goes through quickly, and soon enough you are faced with a large menu on the wall, of all sorts of breakfast foods, lunch foods, and a few dinner items. Oh, and of course a massive display case of fresh meats, ranging from pork, fish, chicken, and beef. But also including some deer, dino, and a few pieces are left of something called 'Fury Beattle'
Vadania sighs as she makes her way up to the counter and sets the pouch onto it's surface. She offers an almost appologetic look to one of hte waitresses as she asks, "Where would I put these?" She tips the pouch slightly so that she can see the skun rabbits and slab of some sort of meat inside.
The waitress looks into the pouch and blinks a moment then looks at you, "Oh, I see. Well, you will have to talk to the boss about that one. He does those deals himself." She turns around and says something in Russian. Rasputin looks over his shoulder, "Da, da." And say something in return, "How about, I take it, and put it in the cooler. Rasputin will get to it in a moment." She says, her voice sweet and pleasant, "Now, what would you like to eat?" She says, as if whatever is in there, will cover whatever you order.
Vadania ohhs softly as she slides the pouch across to the girl. "What would you suggest? I am more used to burning my own food." Vadania glances over the menu hesitantly as she waits for an answer. Yeah, from the looks of it she's never had an omlet, let along griddle-cakes.
The girl takes the pouch and sets it in a side cooler. Then she smiles and with a perky voice she says, "Well, first you have choose, a late breakfast or early lunch?" She thinks to herself, "If it is breakfast, I would definately go for the blueberry pancake special. It comes with three blueberry pancakes, 2 scrambled eggs, some fruit and a glass of orange juice." She thinks a moment, "Uh, for lunch, I would go with the sougherdough stew bowel. It is wonderful. That one comes with water or ice tea, or lemonaid." She is almost too perky, kind of annoying actually. But something says the perky is an act, and she isn't a bubble head.
Vadania's lips quirk slightly, "Perhaps the breakfast. I have never had those pancakes." Her nose wrinkling playfuly as she offers, "You like making them think you bubbly?"
The girk quirked her head to the left and giggles, "Your cute as a button." She smiles, "So, breakfast then? I'm sure you will love the pancakes, I'll toss in some bacon as well, how about that?" She smiles a bit, her facade never wavering in our question. "Now you just find a seat, and we will bring it right over."
Vadania ohhs and nods as she slips off to a seat. She blinks as one of the gents sweeps a bow to her and gestures her into his vacated seat. "Ohh, thank you." she murmurs and goes back to people watching and studying the goings on in here.
It only takes a few minutes, or perhaps it was longer, but in short order none-the-less, a few plates are delivered to where you are sitting. A stack of 3 huge blueberry pancakes, 4 strips of bacon, some scrambled eggs, orange juice, big bowel of fruit and wheat toast. The waitress smiles and says, "There you go. Eat up, and the syrup and butter are on the table." She smiles and wanders off.
Vadania blinks at the feast. Then peers closer at the meal. She works at spreading butter on the pancakes. She glances to the others eating to get an idea of how to eat them. Finally she adds syrup to the stack and uses a fork to cut loose a small piece to nibble at.
Rasputin finds a small lull in the activity, he takes the pouch out of the cooler, walks over to a large cutting board and processes it quickly. He keeps each type seperate, weights it and writes it down. He then puts it on display with a few prices tags near it. After a moment, and a very deep washing of his hands, he comes over and asks, "Minkink if I am sittink with yous?"
Five Rabbits, Three Pheasants and about four pounds of Bisson. Vadania glances over from where she's nibbling at about the fifteenth bite of pancakes. She swallows a bit of the juice. "It is your place, sir. Sit where you like." she teases lightly.
Rasputin chuckles, "Net, da." He chuckles again and tugs his beard and says, "Spasibo," then sits down. "The rabbit looks good, da? Pheasants, and I am thinkink beef but not beef?" He says soft, "All lookink good, freshes." He smiles, "Would you be ables to gettink more?"
Vadania chuckles softly as she cants her head slightly. "It was buffalo. Ran into one out west. Traded his pelt for lodging with a group coming this way." She lifts a piece of the bacon and nipes off a bite. "Perhaps the rabbits and the pheasants."
Rasputin nods slowly, and slowly tugs on his beard for a moment, "Da, da. That would makink sense." He looks to the display case, yells something over to another cook. He looks then nods, and changes the signs around a little bit. "Wellink, you have very easily paid for your mealink here. And, sayink, 5 more? Da? Soundink fair? If you are likink what you eats here. Da? If nots, I mink be able to pays you, as wells."
Vadania hmmms softly as she slowly licks her fork clean. Then nods slowly. "I think that is fair. The meals that is. Beats cooking over the campfire." She glances over to the other cook you called to and wonders what he's changing around.
Rasputin smiles, "Da, da." He smiles a bit and tugs his beard, "I would be willink to make an credits arragement fors mores if you would be interested? Da?" He smiles and looks around as the people slowly file out in the middle of the day.
Vadania quirks up a brow slightly at that. "How much? And what sort are you looking for?"
Rasputin ponders a few moments, as he slowly tugs on his beard, "Wells, perhapsink you brinks in somes, and we sees how they sells. Da? I wills, gives you 25 percent. Sounds fair?" He looks around the shop again and smiles.
Vadania nods to that and grins. "I think you have a deal." She offers her hand to seal the agreement. "I'll see what I can draw in."
Rasputin extends his smaller sized yet very strong hand, "Da, da." He smiles, "Soundink like a good deals." He ponders a bit, "Do you likink your pancakes? And bacon?" He smiles a bit, "Or the juice?"
Vadania reaches past your hand and wraps her hand around your wrist before giving your hand a single pump. "I had never had pancakes before. But the bacon and juice are both very good."
Rasputin thinks a moment and returns the gesture to make sure he shakes with your ettique in mind. "Well, goodink. Da. da. I need to be gettink backs, now. Enjoys your meals." He smiles and gets up, "PErhaps nextink time we can be speakink about magics? Da?"
Vadania smiles at that. "Perhaps. Though I think your studies might be quite different."
