This is a policy pertaining to the use of the pick pockets skill defined below from the Rifts Main Book I quote, "Pick Pockets -:- An ability to remove items from a person without their being aware of it. If a pick pocket attempt fails, the item has NOT been removed and their is a 67 likelihood of the intended victim recognizing the intent of the action." Stated pretty plainly and it does require some interpretation. This skill is assumed to have several things related to it not specifically stated.

The person with this skill is skilled in using the proper mannerisms, timing, and observation skills to make the use of the skill optimum as stated above. This means that no one will know of a theft until after it has occurred. The exceptions are as follows: If the pick pocket skill fails(See rules below) or a PC happens to have specifically stated the are watching the thief. The following rules must be followed as per this policy.

1) Consent is not required, as who is going to say sure rip me off? Secondly if its a PC it gives away the fact you're a pick pocket.

2) The PC must pose being close enough to the intended target to use the pick pockets skill.

3)Staff must be notified and present when the pick pocket skill roll is made in order to assign difficulty modifiers or bonuses as needed. If its a staff alt then another staffer must be present to mediate.

4) If the skill roll is good after any modifiers the item is stolen and no one is the wiser. Staff will notify the PC victim that an item was stolen either when they do something that would cause them to notice the item is missing or after the thief has left the room.

5) If the attempt fails the staffer will have the intended victim roll d100. If under 67 the staffer will have the thief PC pose his intended action and RP will go from there. If the roll is above 67 the attempt has failed and the intended victim is none the wiser.
