Pavel

Close, but about twice as broad at the shoulders, far more muscular and a foot taller than this man.

Pavel is a grown man, perhaps thirty or so. He's huge, built like an America-style football fullback: 6'7", 280 pounds. He's known to be very boisterous, very Russian, and with a very horrible ability to speak the English language. Horrible as in just about unable to communicate without the other person having a translator. Apparently he can understand to just fine, simply lost when it comes to speaking clearly. He proudly lives his life with an occupation as a highly-skilled blacksmith.

In the spring of 110 PA, he married his sweetheart, and the life of a Mystic Kuznya made them take to the road. The mission to Kingsdale apparently complete, Svarog sent him on to other places where people could use his skills - for those who knew him, he did unfortunately leave without a forwarding address. Such is the life of a smith.

Description

Pavel is as straightforward as others are mysterious. Not in an in-your-face annoying way, just a full-of-life, smiling, talking, drinking, dancing, partying and constantly mixing it up with the ladies. Well over six feet, his shoulders are immensely broad, with enormous musculature. Not the kind of pretty-boy toned athleticism that you'd see from someone who spends time in the gym, but the kind of muscle mass that one gets through years and years of good old fashioned hard work. He doesn't blend into the crowd, for any number of reasons. He just lives every day to its fullest. "Live hard, play hard, die hard, bad boy for life." Except that "bad boy" seems to be used in a good sense, as he is constantly seen helping people of all walks of life, including giving people metal creations that they need by paying for them out of his own pocket if they cannot afford it themselves. Perhaps a truly nice man with no further agenda.

His current mission in Kingsdale is to simply do what he believes a supreme being told him to do: forge things that people need. Sometimes, these are very special things.

What Else You Should Know

  • Pavel came to Kingsdale in early May, 108 PA.
  • A skilled blacksmith who uses magic to make many of his items do things that they might never otherwise do.
  • Came to North America from Russia five years ago, he has been living in the Federation of Magic up until now.
  • Very little seems to phase him, he will normally just look on a threat blandly. Not intimidation through threats or similar, and he certainly isn't the type to simply back down and let things slide. On the other hand, he isn't the kind to provoke, and readily apologizes if he offends inadvertently.
  • Lives outside the city near the agricultural village in a wilderness home and workshop of his own design and making.
  • He lifts things very easily. Heavy things. Very heavy things.
  • Russian and Euro are spoken well, and he can apparently read and write Cyrillic. Unfortunately, he can barely speak American. Some people are surprised to find out that he knows his numbers quite well, but he can't read Latin characters.
  • Two absolutely enormous horses, Zoyenka and Blagodat, a Friesian draught horse and a Percheron warhorse respectively, keep him company at his home and around the forge.
  • He met a lovely young woman named Anya while he was working in Little Russia. They have long since been a close girlfriend and boyfriend couple - "exclusive" and everything. When out on the town, she sometimes fills in translation duties for him when things need to be said clearly.

Hooks

  • Pavel is not uncomfortable with urban areas, but doesn't seem to appreciate them, either.
  • He wears a large metal tool belt full of unusual implements of interesting appearance.
  • Knowledge of magic and the supernatural seems to come easily.
  • He knows extremely little about modern technology. The most high-tech things that he's commonly seen with are a battery-powered lantern and a bolt-action rifle. In addition to his forging, he can fix small appliances, simple machines and do a good deal of armoring, from fitting equipment to fixing armor and reloading magazines.
  • He always has a good amount of "throwin' money" that he isn't afraid to enjoy.
  • Spends a lot of time in Little Russia with a girlfriend, Anya and the rest of a society that he understands.
  • Has been seen carrying around and firing a robot-sized railgun like it's a Red Rider BB Gun.
