Kingsdale - Main Street S
Brady emerges from the sickly yellow and into the dreary damp. Not that the falling rain soddens his spirits, nor prevents him from igniting a match, and then a cigarette. He then steps into the drizzle, protected from it by coat and hat.
Hands nestled in the pockets of her blazer, collar up, Tirzah makes a bit of an effort to protect herself from the elements. Entering the intersection from the magic district she turns south, pacing towards the gunnery.
The Gunnery is a destination as worthwhile as it is convenient, and Brady's boots carry him thataways. There is still the matter of his tobacco, though, and he's not about to waste it. All the lovelies inside will still be waiting for him in a minute or five, and so he stops short of the entrance and loiters a spell. Makes for a keen opportunity to see who else might be out and about on this fine day.
Tirzah grumbles as the fellow in front of her stops to finish his cigarette. Perhaps very courteous to those inside, but to her her only realization is she has to suddenly stop and step around the lean fellow.
With little mind to the weather, herself, Celaeno looks as if she's begging to come down with pneumonia. Though her coat is done up, and her hands are buried in pockets, her hair and face are quite exposed to the cold stinging rain, occasionally flopping to and fro in the wind - and though she looks far from pleased, one would be hard pressed to definitively say that this were the reason. Does she leave, does she arrive? No, no, no, she sits, a good few dozen meters up the road from the Gunnery, loitering with the occasional skulk.
Brady's eyes turn more than his head towards the grunting. After a long inhale of smoke to allow for a thorough, full-body eyeball of the slender woman, he grins. "Where ya headed in such a hurry, Red?" He is not yet aware of skulking Celaenos, but that might just be from the lack of cigar.
Side stepping the smoking bloke Tirzah sneers at the question, taking it as an all too common pickup. "Into the gunnery. Duh." Or at least she was, until something else gave her sudden pause. Mouth open she stares at another patron emerging from the gunnery with a shiny new and very fancy set of armor in hand. "What?! That was the only one! They promised they'd hold it for me for an extra ten percent. Those double dealing scum! I wont see another set like that here for months!." She fumes, very annoyed yet looking unsure if its worth it to go inside and walk up and down the clerk who made the promise. If she finds the clerk that made the promise.
Wind and rain, wind and rain - they have a particular effect on the ambient noise levels, but the incensed mutterings of a woman jilted has its own piercing tenor. Not that that draws Celaeno out of hiding, or course, if anything she recedes slightly further into the shadows as she turns her attention downroad.
Brady takes the sneer in stride, then watches the abrupt change in Tirzah as her supposed prize walks out the door in another's hands. Baby blues swivel to the lucky (or unlucky?) invidual to make note of both person and property. A series of tsks to Tirzah are made, even as he watches both continue on. "Well, don't that just chap. Ya just can't trust some people to deal honest." He now turns to the fuming one, grin in place. "You shoulda come to me, first, then you wouldn't have problems like that."
Tirzah turns on the fellow in his duster and hat, eyes aglow with her frustration. "Come to you for what exactly? A good wiff of horrid breath? An example of poor fashion sense? Or perhaps a specimen of human de-evolution?" She asks, clearly having found some brave fool take the place of the clerk.
As one many with a shiny suit makes his way past and away, Celaeno watches the exchange for a few more moments before sliding slowly down in their direction. Creeping rather half-assedly along the sidewalk until she comes within easy earshot. If she had popcorn she'd be munching away.
"Easy there, Red." Brady lifts a hand to stay her, now smirking, "No need to spit fire at me. I ain't the one walked off with your plunder. I /am/ the one that can get it for you quickest, though. Might want ta think of that before you keep prattlin off."
Tirzah blinks, taking a moment to assess the man's reply. She crosses her arms, shifting her weight over one hip and nods slightly. "Wait a second, let me get this straight. You're offering to take what was promised to me from someone who is most likely oblivious to that promise? And you are doing so assuming that for one reason or another I am incapable of that. Am I right so far?" She asks, her tone remarkably even.
Celaeno is impatient. "I think he was offering to get you... whatever it was, legitimately, or at least something resembling it" she says, brightly. "Though in such a way that if I didn't know better I'd think he was being intentionally dickish." A little wave is given at this point before she continues, "See, what he assumes you already know is that he's a hotshot arms dealer, and he seems to think he's the only one about. Salesman, I mean." Smiling, she glances upward for a brief moment as the rain continues its drizzle, "Continue."
Head, hat and smirk all shake from one side to the other as Brady replies. "Not at all. I'm just saying..." Then Celaeno is there to explaim some of the great laws of economics. He turns and momentarily pinches the brim of his hat to her. "Now, if I were the only one about, this wouldn't've happened and we wouldn't be having this little talk, would we. I'm just advising how to best prevent a swindle like that, neighborly-like."
Tirzah looks to Celaeno with a slight nod and respectful smile as she considers the other take before looking back to the bandit for the confirmation. "Oh I see. My mistake you are dressed rather outlawish, but rather flashy for an outlaw." She says, explaining herself. "So, you can get me a flexible armor that will offer the best in protection and accomadate arcane tactics? Or even encorporate them?" She asks, her gaze critical.
Celaeno maintains her gaze, smiling back when acknowledged by Tirzah, though oddly disappointed that she uhh... dissipated some of the conflict. Oh well, it might start up again, after all, he DID cost her the suit. A small mumbling of, "Not sure what outlaws you've known..." is all she adds for the moment, though she does idly produce a flask.
"In the wrong town, everyone's an outlaw." Brady fires off a wink and focuses upon Tirzah and business with a nod. "Flexible, tough, magically... yep, I can do that. Any particular color you want, or shiny work fine? There's no 'if,' just 'when' and 'how much,' Red."
Tirzah smiles confidently, nodding once. "My budget is seventy grand. And the sooner the better, for you. As the longer you take the more likely I am to find another supplier." She tells him simply, watching his reaction closely.
Celaeno deflates slightly more, uncapping and recapping the flask for a few moments before giving a loud raspberry, "Sorry I said anything. It was a lot more interesting when there was yelling. But that's all right. Not to - ahh - interrupt the negotiations, but anybody want a drink?" Her eyelashes flutter at the offer.
Brady can't turn down a drink, not with lashes afluttering. "I'll buckle to it." That concludes the business portion with Tirzah, so he turns to Celaeno with an outstretched hand and a grin. "Don't like drinking alone, do ya?"
Tirzah nods slightly, smiling a Celaeno. "I could use a drink. Where to?" She asks, looking to each in turn to know where to put her feet before her. "And how are things with you of late Celaeno?" She asks, not recalling any recent conversation, with the lovely if problematic enigma of a woman.
"Don't mind it one bit," Celaeno says, brightly, "though I didn't really have anywhere planned for the moment." The flask is waggled and after a quick twist to secure the cap, tossed at Brady. "I wasn't actually in the mood at the moment, just figured I'd offer. It all goes well enough with me, really. Nothing to complain about." Her eyebrows waggle. "And you, hm? Hm? Hm?"
"Glad you're offering..." Brady catches the flask and tosses a grin in return. He uncorks the flask and claims a nip, then takes his time in reclosing it. This way, the ...ladies can get their socializing in. Hopefully, he won't need to drain the flask while listening.
Tirzah shrugs lightly, holding out her hand to the arms dealer to pass on the goods. "Oh the usual running around I do. Went a ways south west a few weeks ago on a dino hunt. Was pretty fun and paid decently. Went and checked out the creatures in the dump, definitely interesting to see such beasts in person for the first time. Got another trip in the works northwest to a place called Madhaven. Apparently quite haunted." She summarizes before looking to the man. "What's your name by the way? I'm Tirzah."
"Heard about that one," Celaeno says with a shrug. "The trip, that is. I think I'm supposed to talk with Cali about it, but, well, I'm not sure the take would be worth the trip, let alone the destination. But what're you going to do." Watching the flask make the rounds, she comments to the group at large, "So, you two just going to stand in the doorway all day? I only ask for curiosity."
Brady passes the round on to Tirzah. "Heard a bit about that, myself. Sounded like it was her show, though." His head tips towards Celaeno before he bends his hat brim to Tirzah. "Brady's the name, Blindin' Billy Brady, in fact." He then looks to Celaeno and chuckles. "What's wrong, never stood a spell outdoors for a neighborly chat?"
Uncapping the flask Tirzah pulls back a long swallow before coming back with a refreshed smile. Recapping she hands the flask over to Celaeno with a slight nod walking towards the other woman to allow her to lead them to some destination. "Well I went into Jelani's files on the place and they were scarce, which says something. But what they do say is that though many a seeker go for the challenge, few come out alive, and fewer sane. Which of course means that all the treasure the went a seeking is still there. And i'm never one to pass up a good treasure hunt." She states with a confident smile.
Celaeno gives a shrug, "Well, maybe it's worth it and I just need to look into it, hmm? Who knows, who knows. I suppose I've a few things I need to take care of before I get involved with anything of the sort, but maybe if you guys take your time, I might be of help. Or not." Flashing a smile, she retrieves the flask, sliding it back into its pocket substantially lighter. "And as for neighborly chat, well, I'm not exactly known for being 'neighborly,' if I'm catching how you mean."
"Shame, really. Figured it'd be easy for you to be the friendly sort." Brady takes a step or two from The Gunnery and towards Celaeno. His words are now for them both, though. "Treasure hunt? Now you've got my ear even more, since it was just a varmint hunt, last time I heard."
Tirzah nods slightly. "Well I need to catch up with alistair to relay the information I got from Jelani's, and then I'll find out when we head out I guess." She explains to Celaeno before turning to consider Brady with a critical eye. "You sure you can handle it? Not really the place for the wandering merchant, with almost all who venture their not returning. And most that do return, not whole."
"Couldn't say I'm particularly friendly, nope. You can ask her, if you really want a second opinion, I suppose," Celaeno says indifferently, jerking a thumb towards Tirzah. "And I look forward to hearing about it. If it's not too soon, we'll certainly see."
Brady's stubbled cheeks distort into a mix of smirk and grin. "Here I thought you both were the friendliest of the friendly, and don't you worry yer red head about me, Tirzah." He moves an arm to casually slide the duster back and pat the weapon holstered at his hip. "Barterin ain't the only thing I can do with with iron."
Tirzah smirks at Brady shaking her head slightly. "Sure sure, I'll be reminding you of that if I rescue from some ghost." She promises with an evil smile before turning her grin at Celaeno. "Well you're a hell of a lot nicer than me, at least outwardly. But that doesnt really say much." She admits with a shrug.
"Shows what you know," Celaeno mutters before rallying, "But that's alright. We all have flaws, you just happen to be a bad judge of character. Both of you. But, as I said, that's fine, that's fine. I think I'm going to head out, though. The cold rain gets to you after enough time." She gives a sniff as she turns to walk away, a single hand raising in a parting wave. "Oh, and make sure you keep me informed of the departure," she calls without turning.
"I make ghosts, Red," Brady suffers from no lack of confidence, which fills his chuckle, "I don't run from them." His hat is tipped to Celaeno's retreating back. "Don't let a little rain dampen that sunshine of yours."
Tirzah shakes her head slowly as she smiles at Brady, knowing the type all too well. "Right, when do you think you'll have that armor in for me? And how do i find you wehn that date comes round?" She asks, changing the topic as she gives Celaeno a parting wave.
Brady returns his full attention upon Tirzah when she reminds him of business, his reply as casual as most every other word from him has been. "You're the one with the credits. When I have it, I'll find you, so you can get yours, I get mine, everyone's happy-go-lucky."
Tirzah nods, looking disappointed at her lack of surprise. All independent merchants are the same.. "Ok Mr Vague and without confidence. When it does look for my room at the golden carafe." She instructs before walking off to head back towards the magic district.
