Kingsdale - Kingsdale City Museum (Library)

The library is well the library. Silent and lonely. The walls of the library seem to be getting an uplift in its art. The pictures are what seems to be the stages of the battle with the Old Ones, if one knows such a thing. The heroes of the story though do not seem to be the Gods or the Dragons, but the Angels that poured out to give up their lives to save All. The one that painted these, if one can figure such a thing out, is standing in the ancient lore section of the library placing some books away. Silently he hums an ancient Palladium Song.

  • click* *click* Of the silver cane can be heard down the hall, as the short gentalman comes down the long hall way. He looks around a bit and then walks over to a card-catalog type device. He looks it over and ponders as he looks it over trying to figure out where he should begin his search.

Rune places away another book from a pile in the cart near him. As the clicking stops, Rune turns to look at the near by well dressed Dwarf. With a smile he says, "I had a friend once, that said, beware of any well dressed Dwarf.." A friendly, priestly smile is given, and the man bows his head in respect, "May I help you master dwarf?"

Rasputin places a finger on the card he was looking at, then turns to face you. He caulks his head to the left, "Da? Pardon me?" He says with a very thick Russian acent, "Do ya work here?"

Rune nods his head, "I try to." A bad but priestly like joke. "How can I help you, Lord?" His accent is Dragonese, an odd dialect of Dragonese not heard very often.

Rasputin nods, "Well. I'm looking for informaiton about magic in general. Do ya know about such things?" Rasputain, shifts his cane, hanging it from the spot in the card catalog where he had his finger, "Do they have books like that here?"

Rune looks down to where your cave is in the card cateloge to see what area you are really looking in. Looking up at you as he looks down in modest thought, "We do, we have many. Though they are probably mostly just academic type books. Though, there are so many that not all have been fully read or even looked at. So it is almost, 'reader be ware'." A slight chuckle. "But yes I know of such things, and I can help you find the area of books you are looking for. Anything specific?"

Rasputin shakes his head, "Nothing specific yet. Just was really wondering if there is da books." He ponders a bit, and removes his cane from the card selection, "So you said that you work here?" He ponders a bit, "and you know magic? Do all of the librarians know magic?"

Rune tilts his head slightly, and then shakes his head, "I am sorry Lord, I didn't mean to mislead you. I do not know know magic, I have the academic knowledge of Magic. Perhaps that better explains my role?" A pause, "For the others, I do not know. I believe some may be talented enough to practice here and there, but I don't know of any hard practitioners."

Rasputin nods sagely, "Oh. really?" He grumbles something in Russian under his breath, "Do you know anything about temples? I heard something on the street about them." The body language of the Liberian goes from friendly priest like to more straight and serious. "..I am.." The man raises a brow and his voice more serious. "Why do you ask?"

The body language of the Liberian goes from friendly priest like to more straight and serious. "..I am.." The man raises a brow and his voice more serious. "Why do you ask?"

Rasputin ponders a bit, "Well, I heard da rumors. Temples are dangerious things. They bring hope, da?" He ponders a bit, "Hope can be bad. Da."

Rune thinks about this and narrows his eyes only slightly, "Why is that, Lord?"

Rasputin ponders a bit, "If someone hopes to much, they don't do. Da? They just hope." The short man folds his arms, hanging the cane from his left hand, "Do you understand?"

Rune thinks about this and then takes in a deep breath. "Do you mean people simply depend on hope? You mean, they simply stop doing things for themselves and think that some higher being will do it for them? Or do you mean in less literal terms, Lord?" A pause, "..in a place so dark and filled with hate, death and the utmost darkness at your footsteps is not hope all some have or need?"

Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, people breath it and eat it. People must do. They can't just hope." He ponders a bit,"As for dark and hate filled places. Da, they are bad, but hope can be worse. Hope is an enemy, which can have no head nor body."

"I very much have to disagree.." No Lord this time. "Hope gives us the change to become more than we are, to attempt and to try which is beyond us. Hope is what gives rise to the future we aim for. And your words are dark.." The man stops and straightens even more. "I have seen the power of hope purely raise a being beyond its potential, and use that to defeat the darkness that surrounds us..that binds us." A pause and the man stops himself, and takes a step back to the cart.

Rasputin rubs his chink and ponders a bit, "I would have to say, that your view is an interesting one." He chuckles to himself, "So, why do you think hope is good, and the darkness is not? Does not darkness require one to create their own light? Their own, as you say, hope? It teaches us to rely upon what we can touch, and feel da?"

Rune takes in a deep breath and then leans on the shelf next to him. A soft chuckle, "..so who are you? What are you? I have this type of talk before, but I am surprised to hear it so soon in this city.." There is an almost smug, equal, like game is up tone to his voice.

Rasputin shrugs, "Just a Russian, da. We know the cold of the wilderness." He chuckles, "We know the darkness, and we know that hope can break a man as quickly as hunger can starve a man." He unfolds his arms, "You know, I've lived here for years, yet for some reason never came to the library. I never saw the need. But now, da. I've the need, or perhaps, I'm trying to find my way out of the darkness."

Rune tilts his head and says, in the same tone, "..you didn't answer any of my questions.."

Rasputin tugs at his beard and chuckles, "Oh, I didn't did I. How rude, da?" He ponders a moment, "Rasputin is the name, and I'm a Russian. But that part I said, da?"

Rune thinks about this and then says, "Rasputin. An interesting name." The man thinks about this and then lets out all the deep breaths he has been taking. "I am the one that is trying to build a temple here. I wish to give this city the gift of hope and understanding." The man turns to grab a book in this section, Ancient Lore and Philosophies. Flipping a couple pages, he reads, "..Hope is the worst of evils, for it prolongs the torments of man." And when he is done he looks up at you. "So I take it you are against my attempts?"

Rasputin shakes his head, "Ney. I think is da," Rasputin pauses a moment, "Tis a good thing. Da. Just know that hope alone will not feed a man. Da, understand?" He chuckles, "I'm kind of interested in the real and tangiable effect of the Temple. What do you plan on doing with it?"

Rune thinks for a moment and then nods his head, and places the Friedrich Nietzsche book. "I am hoping it becomes a beacon, a place of strength for mankind, for this world." The man closes his eyes, "This world holds so many evils, and so many ways to defeat it. But there is something even more evil coming than this world has ever seen. And only.." The man slowly looks up at you, ".it is faith and hope that will defend this world in the end, and that is what I am trying to attempt."

Rasputin nods slowly, "I see. Da." Rasputin, ponders a bit, "So have you a building, you can't have a Temple without a place to put it."

Rune shakes his head, "I have only a few dedicated, but no..no building, no funds. Just talent." A pause and the man reaches up to take his glasses off. "It is not an easy task."

Rasputin shakes his head, "Ney. Tis not." Rasputin goes back to tugging on his beard, "What do you think it will actually cost to do this? Do you have anyone backing you, at all? Anyone with your vision?"

Rune seems like a lone priest among Pagans in ancient times. "No. It has only been months since I have arrived so to say. I was hoping the Guild here would back me, but it seems they will not. They were my first hope, but not my last."

Rasputin chuckles softly, "The Guild? The Kingsdale Magic Guild?" Rasputin laughs very loudly, then looks around as the other people glare at him. He raises his hand and acknowledges his noise and makes a 'sorry' gesture, "Net," His voice returns to the normal quiet hush for the library, "The Guild would not care. They only seek," Rasputin thinks a moment, "power, real, tangible power. Or perhaps, the good ones, knowledge." Rasputin adds, "I myself was thinking about talking with them, but lack the funds nor the understanding to gain enterence."

Rune nods, "I was hoping such learned men and woman, and what not would know better. Usually they do or know to be against it. But to be indifferent leads to a difficult course with them in the future and the present.." The man pulls his shirt up and cleans his glasses with the soft cloth. "So..you still didn't mention what you are. You said Russian..but you talk and sound like a mage of sorts.."

Rasputin chuckles, "I'm butcher actually. I own a Deli, just north of the Dregs. I do toss little spark at times, but mostly I'm just a butcher, a Russian Butcher." He smiles, "Do you, ah, eat meat? I have a special this week, I just got in some quail. Not a lot mind you, but enough." He smiles.

Rune thinks and chuckles to himself. "We all hide I guess." The man goes silent and then says in Dragonese, "My name is..Rune.." The man bows his head, and then says in American, "I think there is more to you Lord Rasputin, than you allow. And I hope one day you can share that with me. For, the strongest of us, take the simple roles in life to truly hide what we are.."

Rasputin chuckles, "Nice to meet you. Da, well met." He slaps his hand on your shoulder, "Strong one. Yes, you will do da." He takes his hand back, "Yzeenee, didn't mean to slap so hard."

Rune seems to let himself trust the man and lets the jests pass as normal. "..you surprise me Lord Rasputin. I distrust you, but I like you at the same time.." Rune, clears his throat and then shakes his head. "So a butcher? Anything else you want to share before I call you friend, Lord Rasputin?"

Rasputin chuckles, "Well, Lord I am not. But, beyond that, what you see is what you get." He chuckles, "As for friend, well, da is good. But, friend is a strong word. So, call us working on friends, da?" Someone in the library does a very loud, "SHHH."

Rune ignores the 'shhh' and nods, and hands out an odd hand to shake yours, as if this is a new human thing he has learned or just awkward at. "..the eyes of the mortal betray them. If I were to look the all seeing Eye, what would I see?" The man smiles as he asks, as if a friendly jest but still slightly serious. A pause and he becomes more serious before you have a moment to answer, "..Rasputin. Do you believe in any Gods?"

Rasputin extends his hands, and takes yours. He has strong hands, callused hands, "Da, otherwise much of my cursing would be much more wordy." He smiles, "Perhaps we should be away, into the lobby. Not so many people shhhing us." He smiles a bit. \ Rasputin chuckles, "Da, tis good." Rasputin leads the way to the garden. Rasputin heads into the garden. Rasputin has left. NFI when because there was no time stamp.

Kingsdale - Kingsdale City Museum (Library)

Rune walks into the Garden and then takes a seat on one of the benches, "So.." R asputin nods, "Da, so."

Rune turns to look down at you, as there is no one else in the room at this time of night. "..what Gods or God do you believe in, or what do you believe in, friend?"

Rasputin says, "Russians have a few, but they are really only good for cursing," He chuckles loudly, "Mother earth, and father winter. No reall, Ortodox.""

Rune tilts his head and then looks at you and then to the water. "So you are what they call Orthodox?" A pause, "Can you explain what that means?"

Rasputin chuckles, "Da, some of my community believe in a God, a greater all knowing being." Rasputin shrugs, "Myself, I believe in things I can touch or fee. The earth, the winter, the wind." He closes his eyes and looks around, "These are real things, some possibly entity which is all knowning, I hope not." Rasputin chuckles.

Rune nods his head slowly as he listens to you. "..let me ask you this. If everything includes everything. And you and I, let's say are near the basic creatures that can contain consciousness. When you add it all up, at least to the maximum orderable size in whatever math you choice. Do you not have the chance for one, and only one greater being?" The man smiles, "..it is a hard question for one to fathom, but one that cannot be argued. Because, it is a paradox in logic. If you have everything, and you think of something, then it is part of everything. And if you think of nothing, it is part of everything, and therefore something. But if nothing is something, then something is everything…" The man chuckles, "Sorry a raw bit of some stuff I am thinking of writing.." A pause, and then the man looks at you, "..so you don't believe in any God?"

Rasputin shrugs, "I believe that such a being is unfathomable, so why try. Just do what you can to help others and yourself in this world." Rasputin chuckles.

Rune smiles, "Yes that is true. If that were a philosophy all beings followed in this Universe, then we would all be set. Yet, let us not hold out on the Gods that are, such as Isis or Zeus, Ra, Jupiter, and the others..they have paid a heavy price and feel our pain as mortals.."

Rasputin nods slowly, "But are these beings really gods? And what is a God afterall? Some worship dragons, are they gods? Some of them have claimed to kill gods." He ponders a bit.

Rune nods his head, "They are champions. We have them all. Those that call or are called Gods are champions of both Light and Darkness. But they are for so many, and they receive more power from our prayers, our praises." A pause, and then a nod, "But they are mortal in their own right, and so yes you are right, not a true God. But this is not what I was hoping to reach in my temple. Yes, respect those like Isis, Ra, Zeus, etc. But give your praise, your worries, your pains, your hope into the Light.."

Rasputin shrugs, "Well, if they are on the good guys side, I guess that is good." Rasputin chuckles a bit, "My new almost friend," He winks, "I need to get back to my Deli, da. I have an order coming in, and I haven't processed the last one." He smiles, "Pozhaluista Yzveene." Rasputin says in Russian, "Net, please excuse me. Da/"

Rune raises and bows his head, "Indeed. But, do not think less of those beings that are called Gods, or those that believe in them. For they are beings beyond many beings understandings, and abilities. Nor would I take that away from any that believe.." The man says as his head is bowed, "..I hope to find your deli in the coming days, for I have missed the delights of another artist.."

Rasputin nods, and turns and leaves without another word. Tags: rasputin, rune
