Nov 06 PA - Sage story element
From Chronicles
(NOTE: The following is just my attempt to develop Sage's current situation with a side story. As elements of this story are unique to Sage, I felt it would be awkward to have an actual RP scene involving others.)
On her way back from Laramy where see saw the protesting of the Coalition's recruiting and subsequent discovery that people – like Rubidia – still expected her to continue, Sage can't help but think of her path in life. With her partner dead, it felt like the world had ended. As if nothing mattered anymore. Surely people would understand if she decided to run off into the wilderness and lived life as the primal part of her saw fit.
Her gaze drifts to the wilderness as if contemplating just that when she feels a pull – something needing her attention. She only vaguely remembers asking her traveling companion for a halt before she found herself running through the wilderness. She doesn't know what she is looking for... just that she's needed. A mournful howl becomes her beacon. A wolf's call... more than one, she's sure.
The scene as she arrives paints a picture for her. There had been a fight here judging by the injuries some wolves have taken and the furry body that does not rise. And, yet, there seems to be new life about to take place as one of the females labours through a difficult birthing. The wolf pack notice her, but do not seem to be overly concerned – as if she were but a strangely shaped wolf herself.
She can sense their emotions and shares in them as well as she has experienced loss like they have. Without thinking, she moves about the wolves tending to wounds with but a simple touch from her hands as she makes her way towards the pregnant female where she tenderly helps with the birth of the new litter.
Death and new life all in a short span of time... and more. She begins to sense the change in the pack as they seem begin to re-organize themselves as if finding a new alpha to replace the fallen. It was simple. They adapted because it was a way of their life. And... she... she had helped them because that was who she was. Hurt as she was, it seemed there were some things that wouldn't change about her.
It was something to think about. It might even be the answer when she's ready to accept it. She returns to the body of the fallen wolf. Without being sure of the reason, she takes it upon herself to see to its last rites. It just seems right... even if no one else would understand...
