Knight's Hospital - Surgical Room This room is the same as thousands of other waiting rooms, reverberating back through the history of the multiverse. If it were empty, one would be able to look it over - one of the overhead fluorescent lights flickering in the corner - and see a place where injured people are crammed until somebody who might be able to help becomes available. The speckled off-white linoleum tiles stretch across the room, with several rows of somewhat uncomfortable looking chairs occupying a large portion of it. Reinforced to support a wide-range of weights and sizes, the chairs themselves lack any sort of padding for ease of cleaning, while their dark blue colour clashes slightly with the greenish hue of the walls. The room is rarely empty, however, with injured and sick people from all over the dregs and less fortunate of Kingsdale coming and going with a (relatively) quick turnover. Though many of the chairs are bolted down, the few that aren't are oft pulled out of place to accommodate a hobo's broken and bleeding leg, or ragged mother's sick child. One in the know of current gang relations in the dregs might also be surprised to see opposing gang members avoiding eye-contact in opposite corners of the room, waiting for their most recent gunshot wounds to be tended to - possibly from the same shootout. The pressure valve of the room lies through two aqua double-doors that are flanked on either side by desks. One of the desks is manned by constantly rotating secretaries who both handle the mass of paperwork that the hospital generates, and make sure the flow of patients remain constant. The other desk is often manned by large, burly men, who - despite the fact that they are presently only wearing nondescript black MDC armour - one might see leaving the building wearing a plethora of Colours, and one might do well to avoid just a few meters away from the hospital. In fact, they would likely do well to avoid them now as well, as it might be a Long Walk Home otherwise. Players- Objects- Exits- Maya <O> Out

The hospital is quiet at this time of night, this room looking much like any other hospital room. There are some machines, making soft beeping noises, and there are people in uniform taking notes of them. Several beds lie empty, and a petite woman with black hair tied in bunches is studying one of the machines. The white coat is thrown on over the little goth's outfit, an odd combination. She is speaking in soft tones with a nurse, her grin quick to appear, the natural liveliness showing.

Zeeva lays in her bed in almost the same position when she was set up in the ward. Slowly hums and ahs can be heard while her eye lids start to flitter and then slowly open up. Her hand slowly moves to her forehead to feel the skin as if she was injured or something.

"It seems you were right. Well spotted..." Obviously, the nurse bleeped the woman's pager, and she moves to the side of the bed. "Take it easy. You have been sleeping for a while now." Her voice is soothing, calm, despite the grin on her lips. She glances at the nurse, and is provided with a glass of ice chips.

Zeeva hus softly as she moves her head trying to see, though her eyes are still blurry. "Ah .. I .. the people are they okay?" She asks slowly and tries to sit up in bed. "The earthquake was so powerful I wasn't able to get to the station in time to help the local ..." She moves to completely sit up and put her hand to the side of the bed. "... police department. I .. I have my green card, so I'm sure they will know I'm able to work with them to help with the recovery."

Maya's forehead wrinkles, and she puts a hand out to gently encourage Zeeva to stay still. "We haven't had an earthquake here for some time. Don't worry, everything is under control but I need you to rest, and give me some details." Her voice is soothing, calm, at odds with her appearance and she offers the cup of icechips to Zeeva. "Here, try some of these. Let's start with simple. Your name."

Zeeva tilts her head a bit and shakes her head softly. Yeah, she's stubborn. "Ah I'm sorry but it just happened. I was running from strange blue rift thing. The earthquake caused this hole that the blue ribbon came out of. I was running from my hotel to the police station." She says and looks at the ice before looking to the woman before her. "I'm Zeeva Ben-Lev of the Mossad. I'm here in St. Louis under the direction of the Chicago FBI office."

"Ah, light dawns." Maya's smile is gentler than the grin and she glances across at the nurse, waiting for her to leave before she leans against the bars on the bed. She considers her words carefully before she speaks. "Welcome to Kingsdale, Zeeva. I am Maya. I'm a doctor here tonight." She slows, speaking carefully, "Can you tell me the date please?"

Zeeva hums a moment. "Can I get some light around here so I can see a bit more. It's hard to focus on you." She says as her eyes aren't used to this kind of lighting. "Ah yeah, it's December 31, 2098. To be exact I was in central time, so it was about 5:30 so just 5 hours and 30 minutes from being January 1, 2099."

"In a moment." Maya is nodding, biting her lower lip before she speaks slowly, softly. "Zeeva, this is going to be a little hard to process. It is a few years later. One hundred and seven, to be precise. What you recall is what we refer to as the apocalypse." She waits, watching the woman's face steady.

Zeeva's face is actually blank, something isn't right as she shakes her head a bit. "I'm sorry I think you're mistaken. Really it just happened." She says as she looks around to try and get up from the bed. Her hand in Zeeva style gestures to the window. "It was just outside, it just happened. I wasn't conceived yesteyear (born yesterday)."

Maya is nodding slowly, with a flicker of a smile, patient as she explains softly, "You are not the first to join us, although it is increasingly rare as we move on." She pauses, adding quietly, "It just happened for you. For us, it is a historical fact." She rests her fingertips together. "You were thrown through a rift, that blue light, and it moved you through time and space, and now you are here."

Zeeva looks around her becoming slightly irritated for a moment. "Can I get some light please?" She asks and then closes her eyes and uses her hands to make a down ward movement. "Okay, where is my mobile. We'll find out what's going on by making a call. I .. I really don't see how this is possible. Though yes that is what it looked like, a rift of blue light. It was the oddest thing."

Maya moves, twisting a switch to turn the light up a little and she shakes her head. "Many of your belongings were destroyed. They often are." There is sympathy in her tone, the softer smile on her lips purely professional. "I know it is terribly hard to believe, I do know." She gives the other woman a considering look, narrowing her eyes slightly.

Maya is using telepathy on you. Picking up surface thoughts.

Zeeva's eyes start to adjust to the light as she looks up to the woman. Her eyes blink deeply for a moment. "Bambie..." Yes she thinks she knows you as flashes of her former co-worker go in her head. "I know that Greg might still like to play games with me but really." She says softly and tilts her head a bit to you. She thinks this has to be a joke, her family and friends all gone?! No that can't be she wasn't there to protect them? She didn't do her job, how could she have hailed so miserably.

Maya frowns, reaching for her pocket. "I'm sorry, I'm not Bambie, I'm called Maya. I'm a doctor, and I'm afraid it isn't a joke." Her voice is soft, repeating the information once more, patiently. "I'm so sorry, Zeeva. This will take some time to get used to." She returns to the bedside, resting her arms on the rails again.

Zeeva tilts her head a moment as she thinks. "Well can you allow me to stand up so I can see outside?" She asks half believing but also having to see the truth for herself. She looks up at you in some form of trying to get sympathy, though she was never one to express her emotions overly well.

"Of course." Maya's mouth curves into a quick grin, then dims to a smile as she lowers the sides. "Steady, you've been asleep a day or so." She turns, opening the blinds on the window, revealing a very different world out there. Creatures walking the streets who could not be costumes, hovercrafts passing the window, and all manner of building.

Zeeva moves to slowly get up, testing her legs and feeling them a bit wobbly but she moves nonetheless. She gently moves her hand out to balance herself out before walking. She blinks a moment to look outside and puts a hand on the window. She just remains silent almost as if that pretty strong mind has cracked just a bit.

Maya watches her in silence, letting her absorb the scene outside as several young teenagers, of all races under the sun, some even green, race along the street. "Do you believe me now? I understand it is hard on you." Her voice is soft, sympathy showing on her face as she steps to join the other woman.

Zeeva blinks a bit more as she shakes her head, turning to lean against the wall. "What happened then? What happened to my family, my friends? What is going on, how did people change?" She asks directly as if gathering information now and trying to understand what world she beemed onto in that Star track (trek) too. She sighs deeply and tilts her head bit to Maya.

Maya reaches out a hand, sliding a chair towards Zeeva, watching her closely. "Rifts opened across the world, aliens appeared, demons and creatures. We lost many cities, many people. It introduced magic, psychic abilities, new races to the world." She leans against the window frame, watching the other woman. "You have a lot to catch up with."

Zeeva seems to blink a moment and turns to the woman. "Again what happened to my family? My father was Director Joseph Ben-Lev of the Mossad? How do I find out the information I need to know?" She asks and then thinks for a moment. She looks to you and tries to show some sense of emotion, more of lost confused and sadness. "I was... I guess an officer for the mossad, what do I do now for a job and to support myself?"

It would be worth looking them up in the books, if you can. Information from that time is spotty at best." Maya reaches out, touching the other woman gently on the upper arm. "There is work for people here. I'm afraid I don't know the term, Mossad. But we'll help you to get settled." She straightens, indicating the bed. "I think you need to rest, and eat something." Firm, but gentle.

Zeeva hus as she turns to you for a moment. "Spotty? What do you put ink blots on the books now?" She asks for a moment and seems a bit wary at the moment. "Sorry I speak several languages and English is not my primary language. Americanisms..." She shakes her head a bit. "Mossad is a Intel agency that works out of Israel, that's where I'm from." She says before starting to head to the bed.

"Patchy. Rare." Maya supplies alternative meanings, carefully, precisely. "It may be hard to find anything out. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the location of Israel either." She is genuinely sympathetic, pressing a button to summon a nurse. "I know it is a shock for you. Just rest while we make sure nothing has happened to you physically, and then we will see what can be done." Firm, and friendly.

Zeeva blinks a moment as she stops her walk and looks to Maya. "Where is my backpack? I have my things there, I can pull it up on my laptop and I have books in there as well. My information, passport and such. I can show you where it is and all. What do you mean that you don't know where the location is? IT's in the middle east."

"We have your backpack safe. It seems to have mostly survived." Maya indicates the bed once more, firmly insistent. "Zeeva, there is no middle east. I'm afraid the world changed." Once again, she smiles, nodding at the bed. "Sit, or fall down, woman. We can talk more later." The nurse responds to the bell, and Maya turns, softly requesting a meal for the patient.

Zeeva does almost fall down, but she moves to hold onto the bed. Yeah her world just kind of did a nose dive. "Ah ... what?!" She asks before trying to sit down in the bed. "Ah how do you get rid of all of that land? I ... I want my backpack please I need it! It's ... " She can't say it, but it's true it's all she has left.

Maya moves to stand beside her and she nods, turning to a cupboard, to open it. She pulls the battered backpack from it, offering it to Zeeva. Inside, her belongings are there, barely touched. There is some evidence that the staff went through it but otherwise, all is as it should be. "I'm afraid we thought it might be a joke at first." The flicker of a grin shows, the corners of Maya's mouth tugging up, her struggle to keep the grin away obvious.

Zeeva waits for the backpack to come to her and gently takes it. She thanks Maya and then opens it up. "Ah ... joke?" She asks before pulling out what seems to be a series of map. Yeah ever wanted to see the world as it was? She pulls out the world map and then points to the middle ease. "You mean all of this is gone?"

Maya manages to swallow the grin, leaning forward to stare at the map. "I'm sorry. This map doesn't look at all the same as the world I know. Here..." She indicates areas with her fingertip, "Here, and here. Those are wastelands, with all manner of creature there. This belongs to the Coalition, here are free cities..."

Zeeva blinks a bit more as she kneels on the bed and then leans back to sit on her heels. She looks a bit shocked and then points to Europe and then her home. "What about here? And those rifts, did they close up or something? I'm sorry I ... it's just I'm ..er.. was a Intel officer. I need intel to understand what is going on and where I am. Right now I feel like I'm pay diving (free floating) and I need to find some kind of flat land (solid ground) to stand on."

"Zeeva, slow down. You aren't making much sense, and some of your language..." Maya shakes her head, "I think the slang must have changed." The apologetic smile is offered, and the meal arrives, a real one, a normal food, without food pills. "They come and go. Some are stable, others less so. there are people talented with manipulation of them, and ...It is a whole new world, Zeeva."

Zeeva looks up to her for a moment with a frown and then looks to the food. "Ah may I ask if it's kosher? I'm Jewish." She says softly and then gathers the maps and puts them into the into her backpack. She slowly moves to hug the backpack before putting it close to her pillows. She looks to the food and starting to poke at for a moment. "I'm sorry I'm being rude." She says softly and then looks to you. "Thank you Dr. Maya I'm sure this isn't something you wanted to do in the middle of the night."

"Kosher..." Maya hesitates, frowning, "Of course. I do apologise." She glances at the food, uncertainly, before she summons a nurse, requesting a kosher meal for her patient. "Maya, just Maya, please." And there is a flash of that grin, mischief flashing into her eyes before she tries to return to the professional. "Ah well, we all have things we need to do. I'll look in on you in the morning."

Zeeva ohs as she nods her head a bit as she tilts her head a bit. "Oh sure, ah thanks. Sorry about the Bambie bit, you look like a woman I used to work with. She a lot like you, though she had a coffin for a bed." She tilts her head a moment. "I take you like black roses yes?"

Maya pauses, tilting her head, giving Zeeva an odd look. "I have..." She hesitates, shaking her head. "I do like black roses, yes. They are my favorite flower, and oddly, ..." She lowers her voice, moving a little closer, the hint of mischief appearing. "I have a coffin too. I left a man in it." Her grin is tugging at the corners of her mouth.

Maya laughs, her grin appearing, a broad mischievous one. "I'm sure he is waiting. I have his Stetson and he likes my coffee." The twitch at the corners of her mouth reveal that those might not be entirely accurate descriptions for what she actually means. But then, she lifts a hand, wiggling the fingers, passing the nurse in the doorway. A few last minute instructions and she is gone. A moment later, and Zeeva is provided with the kosher dinner, and a history book...
