KINGSDALE – SAGE ALTERNATIVES PRIVATE DINING
With business picking up across the hall, Sage wanted to remain close to home in case there were any issues when the meeting was being arranged. The other woman joining her in the dining room receives a small platter of snacks and treats to choose from as they wait. "Here we are..." She says softly as she sets it down on the table.
"Again?" Rubidia inquires though she doesn’t look to remember doing this before. "He's lucky. I was seconds away from being in Japan for the week." She notes between nibbles on a snack. A cup of tea steams beside her.
Maria helpfully escorts the far less flamboyant Pert into the private dining room. "Hello you two, thanks for meeting with me." He'll find a chair and ease himself into it. "I hope you're doing well? All those pieces of armor intact and such?" The last is obviously directed at Sage.
A cup of tea is settled in front of Sage as well, but it doesn't draw much attention when the man enters the dining room. "No problem, and thank you for being understanding about the location." She replies, before nodding faintly to the first question... until her brow raises at the second comment. "Well enough." She replies vaguely.
"Fine. What's up Pert? Have another run so soon? I should let you know I didn’t really sign up before thinking it would become a regular deal. Just kinda went for the experience. Though I am open to the possibility of another trip if Sage is and my schedule doesn’t conflict." She relates forwardly while not trying to sound too much like a spoiled brat.
"Oh, yes yes, another run. Important run." Pert leans forward conspiratorially, though acknowledging Rubidia's statement with a quirked eyebrow. "Big run. Just a startup, you don't need to know the details. But it's big, and I need some security. I have a few people on board, but I need more. Be happy to have some people that I've seen. Interested? If you are, I have to ask you to keep these things secret, or else you'll be putting many innocent lives in danger."
Sage purses her lips as she considers the man's comments, "Considering what happened last time, I would not think to spread around the knowledge myself." She comments, before glancing towards Rubidia before reaching out to touch the other woman's mind. << From what I can tell, the last time we were moving drugs. >> She mentally comments to Rubidia, before she looks back to the man. "Same kind of shipment as last time?" She asks before raising a brow.
Rubidia sighs at the silent exchange with an impatient look Pert. "Since when don’t we need to know the details? Details like exploding cargo and Coalition contact are important you know?" She points out, her exasperation probably appearing limited to the spoken statement. "We got lucky last time as it was a small run. If more important means bigger then I'm not sure my presence on it will go unnoticed. Fans are crazy like that, want to know where I am all the time."
Pert looks at Sage. "Well, you know, contraband is contraband. What people want when they aren't allowed to want it." Rubidia gets a stern look. "I said you're welcome to the details, just not welcome to spread them, because innocent people could be harmed." Then between both, he says, "This is a good thing all around. We weaken the ranks of the Coalition by spreading the goods, and they send money back our direction. But it's organized. Much larger, better vehicles."
Sage frowns faintly after the comment about contraband, before she begins to think on the details both spoken and sensed. She glances towards Rubidia once more, << Drugs, guns and slaves this time... I'm not sure I can abide this. >> She doesn't linger her attention on the other woman. "A good thing may be considered different things. The goal seems noble, though."
<<Well I definitely wont abide slavery. Can we double cross or just wash our hands of it?>> Rubidia replies mentally to Sage as she takes a small sip from her tea. "You are only weakening those already weak and corrupt, its not really a substantial difference. Might as well smuggle poison and call it sugar, at least then the effect is lasting. <<Not that that would appeal more to me.>>
"Look, I came to ask the two of you because I've seen what you're capable of," Pert expresses, sitting back and straight. "The reasons really aren't important. The fact that it's happening, is. I understand if you don't want to get involved. It got hairy out there, a lot more so than we thought. That is, Suave and I, the poor bastard." He drums his fingers on the table for a short moment, then says, "Please, even if you don't want to participate, just don't blow cover for everyone else involved."
Sage considers the responses of the other two in the room, both verbal and silent. "I believe I understand what you are trying to do, but I have my concerns about certain details." She comments, "I imagine people I know will end up going with you, though." A thoughtful look passes over her features, "Will there be anything else?"
"I'm capable of a light show, and a forth octave clear c that will shatter glass." Rubidia remarks with a slight shrug. "Impressive in performance, not really a huge boon in a combat situation. I can be just as distracting to my team mates as the enemy." She points out to downsell herself.
"No, nothing further, Sage. I'd just ask both of you to let me know as soon as possible, so that I know how many other hires I need to make." Pert nods at Rubidia. "I understand, and I suppose I'll be off, leave the two of you to your meal. Just please let me know as soon as you can. I hope that two days would be sufficient for you to decide?" The tall man then begins to rise, a flutter of fabric momentarily exposing an energy pistol at his side.
Sage nods, "Yes, that should be plenty of time." She comments, before she considers the man's rising from the chair. "Thank you for coming, Pert." She adds simply, before becoming thoughtful once more.
"Yes, thanks for the offer. I'll let you know for sure tomorrow." Rubidia chimes after Sage before taking another snack to enjoy. "Who else do you think well sign on to that?" She asks Sage idly. Pert rises, thanks Maria for his meal, and begins to head for the exit, no further conversation being offered, though apparently his ears are going to be open for a "yes" or a "no" from each. You have just received a vote.
"Some of the others that went along may agree to go." Sage says simply, deciding not to be too specific while the man is still within earshot. She shrugs faintly, before she takes up her tea to sip from it.
