Sebastien nods, and grins. "Well, that little foray paid well. I will have to consider then. I could afford this shock spear, to give you an idea. But ah .. I really do like the sword. Well. I will swing by your shop later then, perhaps we may take a look at what sort of armor would be available, and I'll choose which would be better for me." The young man looks stickershocked more than anything else. Rubbing a hand through his hair, he whistles to Sara and steps forward, leaping up into the saddle. "Is it that you ah, practice what you build? Or are you just the engineer? Us it that you can fire any of these weapons or fight with the sword?"
Desmond moves through the park quietly, more wandering than moving with a clear sense of purpose. Slow, languid steps and eyes that flit back and forth without resting too long on one sight or the other as he passes along a path. His ears perked, alert for the sounds of trees, wildlife.. people. They flick toward the sound of voices casually, though for the moment his head doesn't turn to match their orientation. He continues towards the general source of of the voices. It'll only be when he gets near that he will glance towards them.
Renos nods softly at that. "Well, there are flaming swords, which do fire damage. Don't really work as well against robots as electricity, but gets the job done. They are about 90,000 a piece. And most of that is because of the rubies. If you can find me 2 rubies, about 1 to 2 carat rubies to use, I can build it for much less. I do accept trade as well." He then shrugs. "Its not often, but yes, I can use a sword, a pistol or a rifle." He then sighs gently. "I wished I had Darlessia's Gatling Gun. That thing would make mince meats out of them."
Sebastien winces as his groin is slicked by his soaked saddle, peering up at the dreary clouds above. Well. Soon he'll be soaked through. Sighing softly and bowing his head against the rain, Sebastien offers the wizard a little smile. "I will come and ask again for something to be built. You have given me much to think about. Perhaps, for a while, I should stay with the technology after all?" He gives a little shrug, and digs around in his saddlebags to pull out a floppy felt hat, shielding his head as he rides away into the sunset.
Desmond comes to a pause as he sights the two men speaking. Not too close yet, though his ears do snatch words from further than most. The business speak that he hears making little sense to the big male right off the bat, though he lingers for a few moments, considering what he hears. After a few moments, he chooses to approach them, though gives no hail to mark his quiet approach. Though should Sebastian look his way, the large male will give him a slight, acknowledging nod without prompting.
Renos shrugs a little. "thats what makes Techno-wizardry really so expensive. The tech components are relatively cheap. Its the cost in gems that really pushes the cost to make these things way up there." He then scratches his head. "But like I said, I do accept trade as well. If you happen to find any TW or tech items you want to get rid of, I might be able to accept it in trade for a specific construction piece. As for the armor spells, I might be able to do that much cheaper, but it won't be as strong. I am, really, only a beginner."
Desmond will approach Renos as Sebastian departs. What he intends won't become clear until he has drawn near enough for a simple conversation. At that point he pauses, considering the man briefly before he speaks. "The topic you were discussing with that man.. what was it?" A simple curiosity with no clear note of ulterior motive.
Renos then turns and moves slightly back as he regards the cat-man. "If you must know..." He says, stright and even, trying to keep most of the emotion from his voice. "...We were discussing how much techno-wizard items cost and how much it takes for me to make them." He says rather even, with his whole body tensed by the appearance of the man.
Desmond nods his head once, considering the human before him afterward. A few moments of quiet before he states, "You need have no fear of me. Or concern for my actions. I have no desire to harm you." Simply put without boastful inflection. "Would you tell me something of this Techno-Wizardry? I have heard of it, but magic is not something I know a great deal about."
Renos then turns and stares at the man, and anger just pours out of him. "Its not you I have to worry about, but myself." He then breathes in, and out, trying to get himself under control. "Its really simple. Its a blend of magic, and technology. Magic is a source of power that sentient minds trained to harness it can. Its all around us, in the air we breathe, in the food and water we consume. Its purported to be the source of life itself, which is why it doubles at the moment of death. But that is unconfirmed. Its versatile, and yet, limited."
Desmond arches a brow slightly as he considers the various things told to him. "Yes, some of that I've heard. Some I have not. Fusing magic with technology.. an interesting idea." The big male muses that briefly. "And expensive, if what I overheard was true. Something to consider for the future, perhaps." His eyes fix on the man as he asks, "Why do you worry about yourself? Do you feel the desire to attack me?" No taunt in that level voice. Just simple curiosity.
Renos grits his teeth a little. "And if I did?" He then arches his back a little and holds his hands out. "Glad you find it SO interesting." He then flexes his hands a little, to get the stiffness out of his fingers. "With magic, I could, right now, conjure a ball of fire and hurl it at you, or give myself enough strength to probably rip someone's arms out of their sockets. Or, blend into the shadows, if I wished. I can do anything with it, given the right knowledge and the belief it works."
Desmond tilts his head slightly, considering Renos with a firm gaze. "So you likely could. You may even injure or kill me before I can escape, seeing as I am unarmored. But I doubt that would bring you much pleasure. I suppose all I will ever see from you is anger and threats? Or is there ever to be something else between us? I bear you no ill will, short of that which you spawn each time you speak your venom at me."
Renos frowns and then looks down. "It wouldn't. I don't really like killing people." He says quietly. "But its really hard to get the image out of my head of the first time I saw you. Mostly naked except for a robe, getting off the woman I had lived with, had loved. Who had left me with no real reason why, and destroyed my life for no real reason other than she wanted to be chased." He then sighs sadly, shaking. "Imagine, ending a relationship simply becuase you wanted to find out if someone would chase you. It boggles the mind."
"Women want to be desired," Desmond states simply, moving a few steps closer. "Which is why she asked, when she came to you, why you did not chase her. In essence, why you did not fight for her." He pauses and considers a moment before he offers, "I have learned much of women recently. They are all different, but one thing is universal. They are happiest when they are desired by the one they care most about. When you did not chase her.. when you did not tell her why you did not chase her, I would say she assumed you had no love for her. No desire for her."
Renos snorts softly at that. "Oh, I told her. She didn't accept it. The reason I didn't chase her is that I force no woman who doesn't want to be with me. I don't rape women." He then clenches his fist, but the anger seems more internal now. "If she wants that, she will have to go somewhere else. She said clearly she wanted nothing more to do with me when she left. So, I didn't chase her." He then relaxes once more and looks up. There is a bit of confusion on his face. "I mean...how stupid is it...to ruin something good..."
"Because for her it wasn't," Des replies without a shift in his even tone or the firm expression. "I do not know the specifics of your relationship.. I won't say more than to say that. I do not say it as a judgement of you, for I know too little to do so, but I have come to know her and what she desires." He pauses then, visibly considering how to word what he will explain next. "You are wrong to think she wanted to be 'raped'. What she desires is a man who is strong, who will be her Alpha. The one to give her guidance, protect her. Fight for her. Perhaps she wanted to test you with her departure. To see if you would show your desire for her by pursuing. By reclaiming her. When you did not, she assumed you had no desire for her. So too when she came to you after I urged her to do so."
Renos snorts a little at that. "Alpha? She's not an animal, she's a living being. She has as much right to be free as the next sentient being. Well, when she left, it was like saying 'I don't want to be with you anymore.' Thats the message I got, and thats what I respect. ANything else would be akin to raping her." He stands a bit straighter. "I am too much of a gentleman to allow such a thing to pass. I will not own her. I will not chase her when she doesn't want to be chased. If she wanted me to chase her, she wouldn't have picked up all of her stuff and left. She would have given a bit more...hints thats what she wanted. Maybe going into the wilderness, with a note saying 'chase me.' Or something."
Desmond sighs deeply and shakes his head, eyes closing. "Renos.." He takes a moment before his eyes open again. "She is not an animal, but she has a wild spark within. She is close to her instincts and thus thinks in ways that are not the same as yours. She thinks in terms of packs and alphas. And no challenge is truly a challenge if it is spelled out for you." He frowns faintly. "She wanted to be chased. She has told me this. She wants to be desired. Protected. You did not chase. You did not express your desire.. your need for her. Not to take and own her, but to draw her back with a show of devotion."
Renos frowns a little at that. "I don't know what an animal is. I have not been around a lot of them. I am an expert in tech. And where I lived, if a woman moved in, it implied a certain commitment. One she reasonably, I felt, understood. When she left, she denied that commitment. She rejected it, and left. She was free to do so." He then frowns a little. "Thats how I was raised. I was raised to respect women's rights."
Desmond moves closer, placing a hand on the man's shoulder to give a firm grip. "You are in a new place. And she is a woman unlike any from where you hail. I would help you understand this, if you so desire. If you would try once more for her. I could not promise.. I know not if she will turn to you again even if you give what she desired then. She has told me that she has no desire for you. But perhaps if you were to approach her more towards what she wants.. that might change. I can assure you that I have not claimed her, just as I have said before. She and I are friends. Close friends, but no more. It is up to you if you would attempt her once more."
Renos frowns and then shrugs his shoulder out of the man's grasp. "If she has no desire for me anymore, then I will not force myself upon her. She's better off, anyway." He then looks away. "Besides, I don't need to be distracted. I should keep my focus on my work." He says, a bit half-heartedly. Like he really doesn't mean it, but its somehting to focus on. "Let her find her own life. Its what she wants. its what she said she wanted since she left."
Desmond allows his hand to be moved, it slipping to his side. "I do not believe you," he rumbles lowly. "If I recall talks with her, your work and your focus on it is what drove her away. I understand that your work is important.. no doubt you have a passion for it. But consider.. if your passion for your work is stronger than your passion for her.. do you blame her for feeling resentful? Especially a woman like her.. passionate and ruled by strong emotions. She wanted to anger you.. to draw out your passion, I think. But you did not show it. You should have. You should have gone to her, found her wherever she was and proclaimed your need for her. Not doing this.. it confirmed that your passion for her was not there. That which she wants."
Renos snorts a little at that. "Oh really? I was pretty angry with her when you sent her to talk with me. but what does that matter now?" he then paces a little back and forth. "If she really wanted me to be angrey and find her, they wouldn't find her with a grease spot. I have to control myself, or things get blasted apart. I have quite a bit of power. I have to regulate myself to make sure that I don't kill someone with it. All I need is a short amount of time, and poof, someone's a blasted chunk of meat."
Desmond frowns slightly. "Control can be learned. It is a simple thing for me to rend the common flesh, but I can control myself to a point. And what anger did you show her.. did you show anger for her leaving you.. and a strong desire to have her back? Or simply anger at her? The same spiteful anger that you showed me before? She wants passion, not hate. It matters because it is obvious you cared for her. And perhaps you still do beneath your own upset over this. It effects you.. does little to help your control. If it did not, you would not be so bitter as you are. I do not say that to insult. I can understand your feelings. But you have a chance.. something I don't for she who I would do anything for. I would encourage you to consider taking it, despite the risks."
Renos eyes the man for a moment,t he cat-man and then shrugs a little. "I was talking about when she first left, and why I didn't chase after her." HE then, to prove a point, begins to chant something. He then motions to the side, and a simple fire bolt flies to a patch of dirt, and it burns prettt hot, before he then turns back to the man. The rain still coming down enough to put out the fire. "Thats all it would have taken, and I doubt she was wearing her armor. And I was really angry that day."
Desmond observes the event with some interest, but no flinch at the display of obvious power. His eyes fix on Renos and he states, "Then you have some control. Which is good, as I doubt murdering her would have left you in any better state of mind. All of that matters not. This is a very simple thing. Consider past the anger of the past.. the anger now. Consider.. do you want her back? Do you have any love for her left within you that you would breath life into? And if you do, would you risk rejection to pursue her as she wished then? Would you show passion, desire by persevering through reluctance to attempt her heart? If you would, I would offer my aid to you."
Renos then turns away and looks into the rain, and the burnt soaked patch of ground. "Yes, I have control. I haven't killed her, or you, yet." He says quietly. "I could have done so at any time. And I was really tempted a few days ago." He then raises his head up. "Yes, I still care for her." he says quietly. "If there is one thing about myself, I would call it stubbornness. I can go when most would give up. I don't really fear rejection. I just don't...think there is a point. She left, she has no more desire for me...I can go on if there is a chance, but if there is none, I would rather spend my time on something else."
"I cannot promise, but I think there is always a chance," Desmond replies simply. "But this is something that will be up to you and your ability to adapt. As I said, she has a wild spark. She has been drawn to be because of my strength. My decisiveness. She craves an alpha male. Someone who has a strong desire for her and expresses. Someone who will protect and guide her. It is not ownership.. it is a sacred duty for the man who will give this to her. A deep responsibility. Do you understand these things?" Though he asks such a question, his tone is never belittling, nor dismissive. It is firm, straight and serious in this moment.
Renos just shakes his head. "no, if I understood these things, then she would have never left, now would she?" He then sighs and wipes at his eyes, moist with either tears or the rain, either one. "I don't understand this wild behavior, which is why i said it might be for the best. We are just too different to stay together."
Desmond frowns slightly. "That is why I am trying to explain to you. Though the ways are different, there are some things that should be obvious to you." He pauses, considering the situation before he asks, "What would you do to show a woman that you care for her? What is your natural inclination?" Turning it around, to try and learn Renos' ways.
Renos frowns a little at that, and then turns back. "I don't know, a glance or two, asking someone out. Then maybe flowers or a dance. Or maybe something else. If they really desire to be together, asking someone to move in. Then, its usually a short time before marriage. Usually, as soon as the woman gets pregnant."
Desmond shakes his head slightly. "Those ways are too soft," he states simply. "For a gentle woman, that would be fine. But Katsumi wishes to be desired. To have it shown often by the one she is closed to. Not just the presence, but physical desire. Touches. Embraces. More. Examples to show the strength of one's desire. Perhaps not every day, but often."
Renos shrugs a little at that. "I showed her physical desire. And often, but that was shortly before she moved in." He then sighs and rubs his eyes. "So, I have to trya nd kill her to show her I love her? Is that what you are saying?"
Desmond frowns slightly. "No.. not kill her. But if, when she moved in, the shows of affection stopped.. that is what drove her from you. What drew her to you.. it has to continue. It must be a constant thing. Indeed, if you stopped showing your desire for her then she would think that you had none anymore."
Renos snorts a little at that. "It didn't stop. In fact, I slacked off on my work quite a bit just so she would feel wanted. I treated her injuries, I did a lot for her." He just shakes his head.
Desmond nods. "Good.. taking care of her is she desires from her mate. But by the sounds of what you describe, what you are used to, it sounds as though you take things for granted once a woman has moved in. In some way. As I have said, I have not seen for myself. Thus I cannot know for certain. But what I do know is that if you would woo her back to you, you must show her you will be her alpha. You will be her guardian, her passionate lover. And you must keep that fact apparent to her for as long as you would keep her with you. That is most important of all. As I said, it is not ownership, for as you have discovered she will go on her way if she feels she is being taken for granted. It is a duty. One you must take seriously."
Renos snorts a little at that. "I took it VERY seriously. And I treated her very well. She just wanted to leave." He then crosses his arms, acting a bit stubborn.
Desmond rumbles lowly, showing a bit of annoyance, though it fades and he states, "You yourself said you understand her not. Now you deny that you had any fault in this? If you would take that stance, then I can tell you now you would have no chance to win her again. Just as she turned from you when she last sought you. Because you place the blame on her entirely and do not consider your own part in this." He lifts a hand and adds, "Before you think I focus on you entirely, she did not try to tell you what she wants. Some of the blame is hers, but in a way she is like you. Set in her ways, attuned to what she is used to.. what she wants. Neither of you have shared on this, I think. Have tried to understand the ways in which you differ."
Renos frowns at that, and then shakes his head. "No, I didn't try. I assumed she would understand." He then scurffs the ground. "Good, I was beginning to think that this was all my fault." he then kicks another mud clump. "When I didn't do anything but what I was supposed to do to be a good lover."
"No, it is not only your fault. But you are the one I am coming to now to take action," Desmond replies firmly. "I asked her once.. and it did not go well. I do not know that she would humor me again on this and I have told her I would not speak to her again of you." A hand lifted to motion toward Renos. "Thus I am here, offering what insight I can if you would take and use it. It will be difficult, no doubt. To understand her ways. To encourage her to tell you. To be what she desires. You may fail and she will not be yours, but you will know then that you gave of yourself all that you could. Perhaps that will leave you feeling more in balance than you seem to be now. I cannot give her what she truly desires, though she looks to me now for care. You could. And your love for her is real. I care for her yes, but I do not feel that same intensity."
Renos just sighs softly at that. "I think more like impossible." He says quietly. "I am tired of being wet, and I have places to be. I still have my duties." He then moves and shivers a little. "And I still have to dry off." He then begins to walk away.
Desmond merely nods. "Very well. But consider what I have said, Renos," he requests firmly. His voice lifting slightly as the man moves off. "Consider the chance before you. Decide if you will take it or not. I work at Moe's for the now, I may be there if you wish to speak further." Then he will be silent and watch as the man leaves. And after he does, he will turn and wander further into the park. Ignoring the rain as he continues on his wandering path.
