The current game time is: Mon Mar 23 03:18:33 105 PA.
The second floor is a maze of hallways with the floor is worn down to bare wood, and the lights flicker constantly. The floor has old shag carpet cluttered with small pieces of garbage and debris. The walls have been severly neglected and the is relatively no paint as most of it has chipped or flaked off of the years. The building doesn't have an elevator, instead it has a staircase. The old hardwood stairs creak as people walk up and down the stairs. An old, worn carpet covers the stairs and has several holes in it.
Kid is settled at the top of the stair again, leaning against the banister space beside the stairs down. She has her keyboard on her lap, sitting cross legged as she plays. But no sound comes out. Strange, unless one notices the slender cord that slips from behind her ear, slipping between her arm and side to curl up under and behind the keyboard. Her eyes are a bit hazy, her fingers casually flowing across the keys as she does her thing.
Aimee 's arrival is heralded by a wolf whistle and a door slamming down the stairway. She takes the stairs two at a time, her heels clicking loudly against the worn carpet. "Hi Kid!" The greeting is breathless, spoken in that husky voice as she reaches the top, her mouth curving into a wide grin that matches her sparkling eyes.
Kid snaps her head up, fingers stilling as she glances toward the sound.. Aimee. The young woman smirks, lifting a hand to give an idle finger waggle wave. "Hey Aimee. What are you doing back here? Forgot something?" The question idly spoken, but she always listens close to answers.
Aimee nods, digging in her bag for her keys, her head bent, the tousled curls spiked up a little. "Yeah, my practice clothes. I need them, gonna teach Des to dance. What're you up to?"
"Des?" Kid hasn't heard his name yet, so that is an automatic question. Then, "Just a little practice. Might not be in it 'professionally' anymore, but I like to play." That reminding her, she tilts her head a little and slips her fingers back to lightly pluck the data cable from behind her ear. Done with the natural casualness of one who does it all the time. "Who knows when someone might hook me up." The lack of seriousness clear in her tone and expression.
Aimee drops herself onto the stair beside Kid, resting elbows on her knees. Her outfit, though less provocative, still hugs hips as she sits and the t-shirt may be loose but certain curves hold their own. "Same with my dancing then. Des, Desmond, the guy who tore up the sheets, kept you all awake nights." She leans in, aiming a nudge with her shoulder against Kids. "What are you playing?"
Kid's brows rise slightly, though she keeps her curiosity on the low as she answers the question. "Just playing.. sometimes I just poke at the keys a while, see what comes up. Though usually I play some old songs. Just to keep em fresh." She rolls her shoulders in a casual shrug. "Desmond, huh? I think he came around here a while ago. Not long after you got your stuff. Looking. Real big.. cat man?"
Aimee nods leaning back against the wall, one foot switching steps, bending it. "Yeah. Claws." She widens her eyes, mischief in them, the wickedness in her grin making the joke clear. "No trouble?" She checks casually, clearly not expecting any. "Oh here, Kelley was asking me about the trouble this way, the gangs and junk yards and all. You know anything?"
Kid shakes her head a little. "No trouble, but I decided not to bother with him. Didn't look happy. And big with unhappy isn't all that inviting to me." She eyes Aimee a bit and her brows lift. "You've got some wild tastes, that's for sure." The question on trouble in the Dregs leads to a slight frown from Kid, then a more casual shake of head. "Nothing big. Just the usual crap, you know." She grins and diverts, "You teaching that bigun how to dance? I thought you two were.." She puts two fingers side by side and separates them, a brow arched questioningly.
Aimee pulls a face, "Had some. I'm trying to be good, get back to my roots, you know." She laughs, leaning elbows on her thighs, her chin propped up by fingers. "We're talking. It is all terribly uncomfortable to be honest. He kinda wants to understand why I finished it, and isn't happy with the answer much." She shrugs lightly, "I'm teaching him to dance, he is gonna teach me to fight."
Kid casually unplugs the other end of the cord and bundles it idly in hand as she considers. "Roots are good. Though you might want to watch out for the big guy. I get the feeling he's not the sort to let go easy.." She gives Aimee a look as she rattles off a few things, "Always popping up? Looks at you a lot? Awkward silences? Stuff like that?" She has something in mind, though she holds it back until she gets some answers.
Aimee pulls a face, and shrugs. "Around and about, keeps asking what he could have done to stop it, or make it better. It ain't that I don't like him but.. you know." She shrugs again, leaning into the wall. "Just that was the first time I felt like a whore. Before it was a kick, you know. Having the power to say yeah or not, and make people feel like that."
Kid considers her words, lightly tapping a looped end of the cord against the side of her keyboard. "I don't know about all that, but sounds like he's smitten with you, girl. Now, I'm no great lover or anything, but I know when a boy sounds like he's got the hots for someone. He might be big and he might be fuzzy, but he's still a boy. And they're all the same in some ways." She casually pokes the looped end of cord at Aimee. "I'm not going to tell you how to handle your business, but you might want to handle him."
Aimee returns the poke with a nudge of her foot. "All blokes aren't the same, I'm figuring. Most of them just want a tumble and then it's bye, don't call me..." The deeply cynical viewpoint is spoken in a soft, husky voice, "Guess maybe I stumbled on two different ones. I don't know, I don't think Des and I would work. What do you mean, handle him?" She lifts her eyebrows, giving an undertone to the words.
Kid smirks and shakes her head. "Wait wait.. two? Ok, c'mere girl, have a seat. You've gotta lay this out for me here. I'm only getting half the story and that never words well for giving some good advice. Who's the other guy?" Kid motions Aimee over, scooting to the side a bit to make some room near the stairs.
Aimee laughs, shaking her head, her cheeks flushing a little as she settles herself next to Kid. "Well I kinda did mention the other. He is quiet, kind and not trying to hop into bed. Even turned me down twice..." She brushes her fingers lightly through the chaotic short curls and shakes her head, causing them to settle. "He is a doctor, got this lovely dog.. I'm staying at his. He got me a job at NTI, leant me some cash for clothes for work, ..."
Kid listens and nods as Aimee describes the other man. Considering for a moemnt before she responds. "Sounds alright.. kinda boring, but stable," she decides. "And you seem on a stability kick, so that's good for now. So you've got this guy that don't want it, but for some reason is just throwing stuff at you on one side and the sex blender on the other. What's the bug guy got going for him? Besides the obvious perks that I know about. I mean.. you keep hanging around him, so there's gotta be something that keeps you coming back. Or is he just that overbearing?"
Aimee shakes her head quickly, "He isn't boring, just quiet." She has affection in her voice, her expression thoughtful as she considers the question. "Well, I guess he is the first bloke that doesn't just want a shag. When he isn't asking why things are like this, he can be a good listener... just, he is hot, and dangerous, and protective." She hesitates, "But when those bandits robbed the cafe, Kelley was too. Protective, I mean."
Kid casually waves off the distinction. "Semantics.." Then she blinks and asks, "Kelley? The old guy? Woah, ok, now we've got some context here!" She grins widely. "So the big guy isn't all in the sack, huh? And hot and dangerous.. that seems a theme with you, girl." Kid more amused by it than not. "I don't know Kelley very well, but he seems pretty stodgy to me. But then, I don't hang around him much. For obvious reasons. But I have a feeling you're not all like me, so that's fine." She leans over a little, going shoulder to shoulder with Aimee's. "Now comes the real important question. "That brings me to the real question, though. What are you after, girl?" That one low spoken as she gives Aimee a sidelong glance.
Aimee returns the sidelong glance with a faint blush along her cheekbones. "You know him? He isn't stodgy, not really. We kinda hung out yesterday, spent the day..." She trails off, shaking her head quickly, dismissing the activity. "You know when you watch the sitcoms? And you have those girls with the life that is all clean, and their boyfriends that treat them like they are something pure and special and hot, all at the same time, and they have real jobs, where people don't look down at them..." The words sort of tumble from her, her eyes wistful.
Kid grins a little. "So you want to be a normal girl, huh? That's alright.. someone has to be, you know?" She sighs and considers what she's been told. "Well, I'd guess that the big guy already fits the treat a girl like she's hot criteria. Way he follows you around and all." she grins a little. "I can't imagine Kelley doing that. Pure, sure.. does the big guy do that?"
Aimee pulls a face at the other woman, "Kelley makes me breakfast before I stir myself out of bed, spent all day watching old films with me. Kinda different. Des treats me like I'm something special, but differently, you know?" Shaking her head, she shoots Kid a rueful look. "Both got stuff going for them, and I'm not even that sure Kelley is interested. Gonna work out the rest of my shit first."
Kid smirks a little at that. "If Kelley isn't even interested, then where's the problem, though? Get a jump start off him, have fun with the big guy." She shrugs. "I just don't think you should leave the big guy hanging out in the wind. Not saying he's like this, but some boys, when they get smitten, it don't get better over time." she grins a little and nudges Aimee with her shoulder. "Sounds like you're working things out fine to me."
Aimee returns the nudge, her face thoughtful. "I guess I kinda am letting him hang in the wind. Maybe I should just cut him loose, just sort the rest out first." She lifts her hands to her face, rubbing her face quickly, "Damn, the world would be simpler without them. Seen that Ordo bloke around?"
"Boys are always a handful. You just be careful with cutting things. They don't always grow back. I wasn't saying just cut him off. Hell, if you still let him hang around, means you like him on some level. Just.. don't keep it too vague. Gotta give a boy boundaries and stuff, you know?" Kid grins and slips a leg underneath to stand up, keyboard slid under one arm as she rises. "Seen him with some woman a few days ago.Which is odd, cause I don't know how he'd get a woman to hang all over him like she was."
Aimee widens her eyes, the gossip curving her mouth in a smile. "A woman, huh? She got a name, do you know? Maybe she was drunk, or drugged up on something." She rises too, picking up her bag and swinging it over her shoulder. "I do like him but I'm not sure on who I am, so ...we'll see where it goes." She shrugs off the topic of the men in her life. "You got a bloke, Kid?"
"Katsumi, I think," Kid replies. "Weird girl.. ran into her a while ago. Don't know much about her, but they were getting pretty hot into it. Thought maybe there was trouble, but I don't know what to think now." A shrug, her words a tad uncertain on the issue. She really doesn't know. She considers Aimee a moment at the last question. "Nope. Not real interested in one, truth be told. Had a few before, but they were all just.. average. I'm thinking I might just wait and see, you know? Maybe someone worth a damn will crop up." She moves away from the stairs a bit before pausing to turn. "Maybe I oughta check out the big guy.." Her tone as impishly playful has her expression.
Aimee goes still for a second, "Katsumi is shagging ORDO as well? She is the girl that was with Desmond, the one that was all broken hearted about him and me." Her hands rest on her hips and green eyes sparkle with temper. "My my, she does a damn good act for someone that is putting it around that much." Kid's comment about trying out the big guy gains her a quick flash of that grin, the temper still simmering in her eyes, "Guess you might be the only girl in town that hasn't..."
As you two speak, a door to the the side, at your elbow opens and the mercenary warrior Kaomas steps out, a glimpse of his sparse and messy room is visible just before he closes the door heind himself, in time to catch the words 'only girl in town that hasn't' He raises an eyebrow and looks between you two, smiling at Kid. "Hasn't what?" The deceptively slim man asks.
Kid arches a brow slightly. "The sex blender does get around, doesn't he?" Kid seems quite amused at the added bit of info. "Nah, I still don't fancy a turn with that. Had enough guys that think they can push me around.. a bit leery of one that really could. Once he gets his hands on a girl, don't doubt much could stop him." She pauses and eyes Kaomas as he emerges. "If you've gotta ask, you're not ready to know," she states with a wry little grin. She paces back to Aimee and says, "I think we should go out and do something. All that shit going on, I bet you could use some fun, eh?"
Aimee dissolves into giggles as Kaomas emerges into a distinctly estrogen environment. "Believe me, I've only just healed, if you know what I mean, honey." The comment is a reply to Kid's, spoken in a soft purr with a wink of those eyes. She slants Kaomas an interested look briefly with a pair of sparkling green eyes. "Sounds good to me. I could use a bit of a dance... with clothes on. You been to Electric Joy, Kid?"
Kaomas matches Aimee's sparkling green gaze with an intense smoldering green gaze that is both an invitation and a warning. "I see... a shame I can't go with you ladies.. a .. dance... might be fun.. with or without clothes.." He says, flicking that gaze up and down Aimee once.. then up and down Kid once. His gaze flicks back to Aimee again, "I'm Kaomas.. I didn't get a chance to introduce myself at the Tavern a while back..." He says extending his right hand seemingly to clasp hers. As he does so.. he concentrates.. on her.
Aimee lifts an eyebrow, glancing down at the hand questioningly, unmoving. She slides both her hands into her back pockets, giving the man a considering look, her green eyes narrowing at him. "Aimee. You were sitting with Katsumi, weren't you?" Her soft voice, a throaty purr, holds an edge to it now. "You don't look the type for a girly night out to me, honey. Believe me, girls need time to let their hair down without you men around..."
"I've been going to the Joy since I was fifteen, girl," Kid tells Aimee. "We can go have some shots and watch the dance floor. Maybe get in there if you've a mind to get crammed into a pack of sweaty, undulating bodies with no way out. Ain't something I do much." She smirks, shooting a glance toward Kao at his words. "Boy, you've got too much of a focus on getting a girl's clothes off." She grins at Aimee as she notes, "Tried to get me to play a game with those kinda stakes at the Joy."
Kaomas glances at Kid, vaguely suprised she remembered the game. Then he turns his gaze back on Aimee, the concentration ceasing. "Yes. I was. she and I are.." He pauses, searching for the right word. "Aqquaintances" He says after a minute. He ignores the comment about clothing from Kid and nods to both, turning away. "I only chase those worth my time.." He says, glancing between you two. "Have a good time.." He says and vanishes down the stairs.
Aimee lifts both eyebrows at Kid, her eyes sparkling in reply to the woman's grin. "Sounds like heaven to me, honey...half dressed strangers, wiggling around. Sounds a bit like my old job actually." The joke is shot at Kid, the wry humour in her eyes warm. "Strip poker? Oh! God, Kid, I forgot to tell you about Sebastien! Did you hear?" Suddenly, she is laughing, her hands moving to her mouth, the wicked mischief in her eyes dancing. Her eyes glance after the man, eyebrows raised, "Honey, I think we just got insulted..."
Some things you just don't forget. Kid replies to the jest with a sly little grin and she eases back over to Aimee to note, "Only an insult of the guy that makes it has an opinion that matters." She winks and asks idly, Sebastian.. I don't think I know him, but don't matter if the joke is good enough." She cocks her head down the hall a bit. "C'mon, you can tell me about it a bit. I'll give you my number, you can call me when we're good to go out."
Aimee nods quickly, moving towards the rooms, "You know Kelley, you know where I'm at, honey. We could go tonight if you fancy it? I've got a session with the big one, doing a bit of training, then I'm all yours." She is walking backwards towards her room, walking as she moves. "Have a bit of fun that hasn't strings all over it!"
