From Chronicles
The current game time is: Tue Mar 22 06:46:41 106 PA.
In the afternoon, Vixen's little proposed gathering is going decently well. The turn out isn't grand, but a handful of rotating individuals show up to the area just south of the plaza, a little stretch of sidewalk co-opted by a table with paperweighted stacks of hand outs with the info that she spoke over broadcast. Vixen herself stands near to the table, speaking with one of the armed individuals who have gathered, handing him one of the papers. She's clad in her own heavy combat armor, though with her helmet off and laid atop the table. A few average folk have mixed in with them, but most seem to still be stung by the past attack on the rally, most avoiding the small gathering on the street.
Maxy stands out more than likely, at first people might think she is someone in a suit of power armor. She does have her helmet off but is in her titan plate armor. There is a large flamberge and then an even larger looking vibrosword, both strapped to the Titan Juicer's back. She stands off to the side, reading over one of the hand outs and humming a bit. Sage pages: Is this 'omg wtf fog' or are we being armor and weapon fiends this time? ;)
As promised, Leonard is also present for the inspirational show of force. He is also dressed for the occassion, even if his armor looks to be more padding that plate, helm clipped to his waist. A handfull of stakes about his waist flit into interrmittent view beneath his cloak, as well as the form of a slung automatic. His steps carry him directly for the table, irregardless of past rallies, and he reaches for the handouts with a smile offered to Vixen.
Afternoon is the time and just south of the plaza is the place. A little stretch of sidewalk that has been taken over by the gathering of armored individuals. A modest showing, but Vixen doesn't seem to mind it at all, the man she was speaking to wandering off towards a few other people as Vixen bids him farewell. She'll be gathering up a few more papers from the paperweighted stack when Leo approaches her, looking towards him with a casual grin. "Told you, not so many, really," she says to him. She's taken note of Maxy nearby, but for now leaves the great woman to her own with the sheet she's come across, casually holding out a paper to a passerby who decides against taking it.
Maxy cocks her head to the side a little. The almost giant turns and steps back over, "Makes me wish I had competed a little more and could afford to do some shopping." she shakes her head a bit and then dips her head towards Leonard, "Hello to you." she nods to Vixen as well and smiles.
Making her way to the public event she's hear about Tirzah looks a little under dressed. Her link providing most of her power she has she has little need the weapons small enough to be permitted past the gates or armor beyond the leathery suit she wears under her cloths. So appearing quite casual she enters the scene, considering what sort of impressions this event will have.
"I hope it's enough for inspiration." Leonard takes one of the fliers for just that reason, as he has a fair idea of the information on them. His smile then turns and lifts significantly to Maxy at her greeting. "Afternoon, Maxy. Pleased you could make it."
At some point, Sage makes her way to the event as well. In contrast to Tirzah, she wears her Gladiator armor and simply carries the helmet for the time being. She's equipped herself with most of what she's purchased to combat the undead.
At some point, Sage makes her way to the event as well. In contrast to Tirzah, she wears her Gladiator armor and simply carries the helmet for the time being. She's equipped herself with most of what she's purchased to combat the undead. Vixen nods to Maxy as the woman speaks, grinning idly in response. "Yeah, well, not like there's nothing to fight here. So you probably got time." She then shrugs at Leo's hope. "Can't say I didn't try some. But I think its working well enough." The next person that passes by takes the flyer that Vixen passes over. Though he doesn't linger as he keeps on his way along the street. "Now people can get to know each other and hopefully everyone in the city knows how to fight these things now.. or will when someone that knows tells 'em. Ot they hear people talking about it."
Maxy nods, "True, but some of the things that I would really look into buying are probably going to take some bit of doing." she shakes her head a bit and then nods a little, "Well I am all for getting to know people." she ays and stretches slightly. Tirzah spots Vixen and makes her way over there. Smiling warmly she takes another look around before making her greeting. "Hello, rally against the undead, the second attempt?" She asks, a bit of humor in her tone to lighten up the serious prospect. "Well this time it wont be a closed in warehouse filling with smoke at least." She notes with a smirk.
After skimming the flier in hand, Leonard attempts to hand it off to the next passerby, whom seems less than interested. His attention swings back to the table and those that do stay in support (or snarkiness) of the event. "Trying is better than not, Vix... Good afternoon, Tirzah." He replies to the humor with a slight smirk. "I think she's kept the last gathering in mind." Which may be why everyone is armed and armored.
As her gaze drifts over the assembled crowd, Sage can't help but notice the extermely tall unfamiliar woman. Yet, she's looking for someone else at this point. She begins to search around, and eventually comes close to the group that's around Vixen. This also brings her closer to the big woman. Noticing the conversation around Vixen, she turns her attention towards the big woman. "Hey..." She offers in casual greeting.
"Mostly this is to get the word out and get to know people," Vixen notes to Maxy with a casual grin. "Might not matter much in the end, but knowing who you might be able to count on is something." She then turns her attention to Tirzah as she nears and speaks, then nods idly at Leo's response. "One reason I told people to come armed. If they wanna come down on this little get together, they're not going to find a bunch of helpless people," she asserts firmly. Of course, one of the passing people who hears that glances towards the gathered individuals a moment before hurrying along to the south. Obviously not all are so confident of things. But that doesn't bother Vixen as she steps over to a group of three armored individuals lingering nearby, as if considering the gathering. "Hold the fort," she notes to Leo as she moves over to them.
Maxy cocks her head to the right and then the left side and smiles a little. She looks down as Sage speaks to her, "hello," she responds back and then holds out one of her fingers towards her, "If you want to shake my finger might work best, that way, I don't squeeze too hard." she does seem to blush a bit.
Tirzah nods in agreement to the steps taken for a better rally and starts taking a look around to see who else is present. The titan of a woman cannot go unnoticed of course, and with her she finds Sage. Walking up to her spot beside Sage she smiles warmly. "Hello." She says to them both.
Leonard, newly dubbed fort-holder, shifts behind the table and re-offers his slightly read paper to a passing individual with "This might just save your life." It is enough for the flier to be taken, as well as a few more from other pedestrians, if just from curiosity. He nods to Sage in greeting, but as the women are making their own introductions, he spares a glance towards Vixen and the trio she's accosting.
When the giant woman offers her a finger, Sage eyes it briefly before the woman explains. "Oh..." she replies with a brief chuckle and reaches out to take the finger with her hand. She never really expected to be shaking anyone's hand in quite this manner. "I'm Sage." She offers to the giant woman, before she glances over to Tirzah with a warm smile. "Hey..." She says with fondness in her tone.
Vixen greets the gathered fellas and starts handing out papers almost at once. Two of the three take them, though the third declines. She questions him and there is a brief exchange of words between them which ends with Vixen nodding her head, the third paper slid back into the stack. She bids them a farewell before turning to head back towards the table and its nearby people.
Maxy smiles as her finger is shaken, "A pleasure Sage, I am Maxy," she says and then dips her head to Tirzah as well. She shifts a little in her large suit of armor, which does make her look even a little larger. The hilts of her flamberge and giant vibrosword shift a little on her back too. She smiles, "I have to be careful of my strength, it would not do, to her a new possible friend."
Tirzah smiles, appreciating Maxy's consideration and Sage's fondness. Her hand searches for Sage's which Maxy spared. "Thanks for that, I've known many being with no regard for such things. Glad to see you're different." She says with a smile. "I am Tirzah."
Leonard sidesteps to clear a spot for Vixen's imminent return, yet remains behind the table in reach of the fliers. As he holds another out in futility, he notes to her,"Two out of three isn't bad. You have much more success with the fort than I. The turnout is improving, though."
"A pleasure to meet you too, Maxy." Sage replies, as she too appreciates the consideration the large woman offers her. She lets her hand be captured by the redhead, offering a gentle squeeze to the other woman's hand. "I haven't met others like Maxy before... so, I'm glad I met a nice one then." She says after Tirzah comments that Maxy might be the exception to the rule.
"It's good enough as it is. Information wants to be free and it'll get where it needs to go," Vixen tells Leo as she moves back up to the table, leaning her hip against it lightly as she glances around, considering. About a dozen people lingering currently, with those leaving and arriving keeping the number right around there over time. "People take it with them and it spreads."
A sudden shout of warning from one of the gathered follows the quick descent of a collection of figures from the sky. The center of the cluster being the large lupine Dog Boy, Raja. The look of fear and uncertainty he wears obvious. He has under each arm a person. One being the dark blue robed elf, Tamiril and the other being the masked and robed Hector. All are armored and armed. The three descend unsteadily, the flight of the canid being an unsteady, uncertain thing. But he manages to land with just a few lunging steps to balance himself before he carefully sets his passengers down. There's an uptick in the din as they step away from him. Tamiril holding a small wooden chest close against himself, Hector glancing back towards the south as he murmurs a few words and makes a pass with his fingers before he touches Tamiril lightly on the shoulder.
Maxy shrugs, "Well I was and still am Human, even if modified." she smiles a bit and then blinks and turns, taking in the arrival with a bit of distraction. She almost lunges in that direction, the main thing keeping her from doing it is that her reactions are just a bit slower than your average juicer, but that is the trade off for the huge increase in size and strength. She raises a brow, not recognizing any of them and glances at the two she was talking to, "Whom are they?"
Her hand clasping Sage's reassuringly until fathoms the nature of the disturbance Tirzah smiles lightly. "They are three of the five that came as many of the city's psychics foresaw. Linked to the undead the claim to be here to help us fight them. Though I cant say I've seen them do enough of that to be convinced they will be as pivotal as the dreams indicated." She explains.
The shout and the trio falling from the sky are unexpected enough, but flying AND fearful Dog Boy? "This can't be good." That is Leonard's initial, murmured assessment before he steps from the table and towards the trio. "What's happened?" His eyes shift from Hector to Tamiril, neither of whom seem as well as they have in the past, even when diving into a rift.
"Oh..." Sage replies, frowning faintly as she considers the fact that the giant woman is a modified human. The woman seems nice enough, though. She's a little surprised to see the sudden entrance of three of the group of five that came to Kingsdale recently. A concerned frown coming to her features as she considers what she senses from them. When someone else asks the inevitable question first, she tries to listen for the response.
Vixen looks over at the sound of the shout, her brows rising as she sees who has come to play, so to speak. "Maybe they came to check this little thing out too," she murmurs, though doesn't sound all that convinced of the fact. She turns to face them, but for now merely observes what goes on, lingering back as Leo moves closer to the three.
Leonard's approach is met with a slight, unsteady smile by Tamiril. "Trouble, friend. But it is good that you are here.. that all of you are here." His voice lifting on the second. I had hope that there might be others here to aid. Johnny.. Belinda, they may be dead. There is little time to tell the tale, they won't be long behind us, but all is in readiness." Hector, meanwhile, repeats the pass of his fingers and low murmurs as he touches Raja lightly next. The big canid has drawn his massive silver sword and taken up a position between the other two and the south, his ears perked, eyes focused. Now that he's not flying, the fear goes away utterly. To say that there is some confusion amongst the few gathered is an understatement, but the mote of 'they' coming is enough to prompt the noncombatants to start making their way out of the area.
Maxy pulls her helm and secures it in place, again making her look like a suit of power armor as the massive 10ft+ woman turns and heads towards where the others are. She pulls her giant vibrosword, "Well, what exactly is coming and like I thought, didn't get time to go shopping." she laughs, or maybe it is just a faint hearted laugh, then again maybe not. She is a juicer after all.
Tirzah sighs as her position towards the five gains some weight. She gives Sages hand a gentle squeeze before she releases it, needing it to channel her link for an immediate summoning of aide. With a contained flash the power is released and an fiery humanoid entity kneels below Tirzah's hands ready for its orders.
Leonard is not especially warmed by mention of 'they,' either. Even if it refers to the remaining two of five, the nature of the troubles means that they could be dead and following, both. That Tamiril also implies some preparation is also perplexing. Leo cannot help but follow the canid's focus to the south as he notes, "I'd suggest that you share as much of the tale, or whatever plan you have, as quickly as possible, then." His helm is retrieved from his hip and donned. "The past attacks were unexpected and even our journey was mostly unprepared. Now would be the time to tip the scales in our favor for a change." He really does not like flying blind, as it were.
With the talk of the approach of the undead, Sage decides to avoid fumbling with her helmet later and frees her hand from Tirzah's. Then, she settles the helmet into place and ensures it gets sealed properly. "Hm... what do you think, water gun or silver bullets?" She asks quietly, looking over to Tirzah.
"Oh hell.." Vixen puts down that stack of papers, careful to paperweight them before she picks up her helmet. "Always prepared.." Murmured lowly to herself as she pulls out her camera, going through a quick set up as she links it to a small data port in her armor before slipping the helmet on carefully.
"Bone fiends.. many of them, though we have left most of them behind. But some were mounted," Tamiril replies to Maxy briefly before Leo's prompt provides focus for his next words. He moves closer to all and nods his head once. "We have held much back, but it has been necessary. When one faces a force greater than ones own, stealth is often the wiser path, but it seems that we have been found out regardless. As Hector pulls out a length of chalk and follows along behind Tamiril, the elf starts to speak, dipping to his knees, the box laid down on the ground. "This force that we fight is one that cannot be stopped my our power. Like a primal force.. I am told there are many like this in the multitude of existances that make up this reality." He looks up towards all, Hector starting to sketch out a circle around him.
There is a brief pause before be opens the box and reveals within a slender ivory stone seated on folded silk. "This will close out existance to the touch of the enemy. It should banish the dead that it controls and remove its influence utterly. It will not stop all undead.. not all are under the influence of the enemy. But the fog.. those that assault this city. They should be removed." He looks up towards the gathered. "It has taken time. There are rituals to prepare it, but the preparation has been finished. And just in time. I will need some assistance.. at least one other who is attuned to magic besides myself and Hector. And time to awaken it and unleash its power. It process does not take too long, but it is taxing."
Maxy cocks her head to the side, "Bone Fiend, that one was not in the handout." she says and shakes her head a bit, "What do I fight that with, will this work?" holding up her giant vibrosword, " or this?" and then her fist, "I do have the strength some say of most supernatural creatures." she frowns a bit, not knowing whether she can do anything this time or not.
Tirzah shrugs as things unfold as suspected. Manging a slight smirk to Sage she looks to her partner for an instant of peace and clarity. "Water gun if its holy water, cheaper that way." She suggests before turning her attention back to the summoned elemental. "Protect her." She orders it, clearly indicating Sage. Then looking back to the three she considers the help they desire but remains silent for now.
Great minds think alike, they say... although common sense tends to be the reason more often than not. Leonard had begun to absently pull a chunk of chalk from his own pocket and jiggle it in his hand as he considered his own options while listening to Tamiril's tale. "I'll help the both of you, since I can draw a fair circle, myself. So it will seal this world from them..." The object in the box is regarded as he speaks more in reiterative sumnation than question. Leo then shifts his attention to Hector and the sketching, mostly. As he watches the forming symbols, he notes, "Holy water won't harm them. Silver, magic, or a true blessed weapon, but not water. I think they're also susceptible to fire."
With her partner's suggestion, Sage takes out her ceramic motorized water pistol. The thought of using it for mischievous purposes doesn't cross her mind as she's always associated it with fighting the undead for the most part. She checks the bindings on her cross to ensure it'll be held against her armor until she decides to draw it. She glances to Tirzah as she gives the order to the elemental. "Don't you think it should protect the people doing the ritual instead?" She asks, figuring the ritual is of greater important. She glances towards the giant woman. "If they're skeletons... you should be able to damage them normally." She says simply, based on first-hand observations.
"Know how to use Knives? I have a few, though they're small," Vixen notes towards Maxy as she lifts her camera. She then glances towards the gathered few people who still linger besides the most outspoken. "Well? You guys in or not? Things are gunna get hot here." With her camera in her left hand, she slips her right into her coat, pulling out one of her silvered knives. She hangs back a bit, however, her camera on and starting to shift to follow the flow of the event carefully. The circle that hector is drawing, to those who know circle magic to a point, is not one of protection.. at least, not a standard one. It's more intricate once the basics of the circle are drawn, flourishes along the edge of it carefully scrawled into the asphalt. He lets Tamiril do the talking as he focuses on this task.
Tamiril nods once to Leo, offering him a warm smile. "Thank you, friend. Prepare yourself well. Once we begin, we cannot pause. So guard yourself as you can." He then looks to the rest gathered. "This is not a fight to the death.. or one would hope not. This is a battle to delay. Keep them away from us and we shall win this day." He shifts himself to sit at the center of the circle rather than kneel, dipping his fingers into the box to gently lift out the stone, laying it on his lap.
One or two of the gathered decide they're not ready, leaving the cluster, but the rest seem determined to remain.. for one reason or another. A few of them move up to where Raja stands, the big canid ignoring them for now, whilst the rest fan out a bit in general, perhaps not so certain of where they might stand. One, obviously a mage of some variety, speaks a few words and passes his fingers in a deft little motion before he lifts from the ground, flying smoothly to the low roof of a nearby building.
Maxy cocks her head, "No, can't use knives." she says and shakes her head a bit, "can just try my vibrosword, unless anyone has a spare sword, magic, silver, flame?" she raises a brow and then shakes her head a bit, "Just see what we can do I guess." she looks at the others and nods, "Try to keep them away, got it."
Tirzah gives Sage a bit of a skeptical look for her question of Tirzah's motives. "You're here. So in protecting you I will protect them as needed." She offers blandly. "And Leonard's right, use silver, my memory slipped up." She corrects herself as she reaches out to summon another aide. The more the merrier. Then keeping the second aide at her side she moves ahead to take her stand. "How much time will you need?" She asks, knowing she might not like the answer.
It quickly becomes apparent to Leonard that this particular circle is somewhat beyond his ability to just jump in and aid in its initial creation. He nods to Tamiril's suggestion of preparation and steps carefully around the circle towards Raja and those massing just south. It is presumably the direction from which 'they' will come. "I'll just be a moment." A second circle is started to be scratched upon the macadam, well outside of Hector's and as large as it can be made in the street. Much more simple than the other, Leonard still hopes that it will be useful, and explains that intent as he draws. "If anyone wishes protection, this /should/ keep them at bay, and help resist their abilities. It won't stop attacks from afar in either direction, though... and try not to mar it..." He might as well use the chalk since he had it out.
Pursing her lips as she considers her partner's comment, Sage gives a nod of acknowledgement. "Alright." She comments, seemingly satisfied with the response she gets. "Thank you." She comments, before nodding to the comment of silver. She tucks away the water pistol and takes out the machine pistol with silver rounds. She quickly checks to make sure its set to single-shot. Then she walks over to Vixen. "I'm not much with a knife... but it could be a good back up." She comments, extending her free hand should the woman decide to hand her one of the knives.
Vixen nods her head once towards Maxy, keeping the silvered knife in hand as she continues to monitor events carefully. Moving in a little bit to get close enough to get good sound without crowding the fighters. When Sage asks again, she smirks just a bit and approaches to hand over the knife. "Good thing I have a spare." Which she produces once the first one is handed over. She then goes back to her recording, easing towards what seems a safe place to linger. The quiet eye continues to observe.
"Ten.. perhaps twenty minutes. The true timeframe was not obvious, but that much time should be enough," Tamiril responds as he unsheathes his slender silver sword and offers it towards Maxy. "It is not so large, but perhaps you might find it useful," he offers to her. With that done, he looks to Hector who slowly completes the elaborate circle, paused to consider it intently for a moment before he seems satisfied. "All ready to go," he says, looking towards Leo. "You need to settle here." Making sure the man is aware of a marked portion of the circle to Tamiril's right. He settling on a similar place to the left as he makes one last pass with his fingers and murmurs some words, touching himself with magic.
In the distance one can hear a sudden uptick of violet activity. Weapons fire the most obvious, though more telling is a billowing of the fog that touches the city each night. Rising to flow through the streets like a slate hued wave that rolls towards the gathered with the weight of inevitability. More than one of the gathered seems a touch intimidated by the steady approach of it, but a variety of silvered weapons and slug throwing firearms are brought to bear as the likelihood of action rises.
Maxy cracks her neck a little as she takes the silve sword, "My thanks." she says and puts her vibrosword up and takes a few steps to the side, taking a few practice swings to get the weight down. She smiles a bit under her helm and turns to face the fog, "Come then, we are ready and stand prepared to repel your onslaught." she bellows towards the fog. Tirzah snickers slightly at Maxy's battle cry, Satying near enough to her to gain some shelter but not close enough to interfere. Eyeing the line Leonard drew she looks to her aide. "Cross the line, attack any undead who would cross." She orders, looking content and ready to draw more energies for defense.
Leonard is not nearly the arcane artist as Hector, but seems satisfied with his own, comparatively quick, work. The other arcanist is given a nod of acknowledgement to the direction before a modest incantation and gesture completes the second circle. As he steps for his assigned seating, a pointed look is given to the videographer along with a gesture back towards his grafitti. "I even saved you a spot close to the action. Best seat in the house." Beneath the casual words of the offering is a firmness belying his hopes that she take it." He then steps carefully inside the more ornate symbols and gives a more general "Good luck, everyone" as he sits.
With her expression hidden behind the helmet, Sage simply replies with "Thanks" as she takes the blade from Vixen. She'll try to avoid getting in close with the undead if its possible. She moves to a spot where she can settle into a defensive position. She glances towards Maxy as the large woman gives the battle cry before returning her attention to the likely direction the enemy may approach.
Vixen is already finding a place between the elf and his circle and the fighters, lingering near the north edge of the protection circle, just outside of it. Leo's concern getting him a look.. though the helmet she wears veils the precise nature of it. But she's quick to return her focus ahead, towards where the action may be coming from.
The fog comes flowing over the gathered group like a cool wave with no physical force. But as the sun is blotted out and the temperature of the air cools, the impact on some of the gathered is notable. Tensions rise and some fear touches the air. The unknown in 'physical' form, limiting visibility considerably as the sounds of fighting spread to the side, close to where the KDPD HQ is located as well as generally growing nearer. The answer to Maxy's bellow comes moments after the echos of it fade. Quietly at first, but louder as the moments pass. Metal clad feet tromping upon the ground en mass. A ripple passes along the line of defenders and some low words pass here and there, but they hold firm. Most of those with guns move to be inside the circle while those with hand weapons linger near to it. The mage up top kneels down some, a hand lifted in preparation.
Tamiril extends his hands to either side, one clasped by Hector, the other offered to Leonard. "Open yourselves to me. Let all around us fade and fix on an open peace of mind. Hold close your determination and share with me your strength." His words softly spoken as he closes his eyes, sitting straight and firm. The two will feel that his hands are unusually warm to the touch and will slowly the area within the circle will take on the same quality. Warm and comforting. The heavy pall of the fog countered by what gathers within its confines.
Maxy nods and stands vigilant. She hears it coming closer and nods, not going to be stupid and charge into the fog, but waiting for them to emerge, to take her piece or strike.
As the enemy approaches Tirzah draws some more energy, creating the large balls that crackle with electricity. Grinning with her intent she sends the balls out to form a line in front of Maxy and her and to the side of the elemental. As soon as they touch the ground they pulse and let out their power creating a field 4 feet thick and 10 feet wide for the enemy to cross. (Ball lightning: Electrical field)
Leonard takes the offered hand as he settles and prepares himself. Holding his determination and sharing strength are the more easily acomplished of Tamiril's directives. Finding peace while ignoring the imminent approach of decidely unfriendly things, not to mention those much more friendly individuals shall take a bit more effort. Exhaling a long breath beneath his helm, Leonard attempts to do just that.
Not being too familiar with the proper use of her slugthrower either, Sage takes her time to begin aiming towards the fog. She tries to remember the bits and pieces that she's been told during times in the firing range. Shame that she hasn't been able to get a teacher yet.
Vixen keeps per place, her only shooting with the camera thus far, the knife the only weapon she's kept to hand. Shifting her place slowly to observe the right angle for catching the action to come. Always in deliberate motion pursuing that perfect shot, for now contenting herself with the defenders and the occasional glance back towards the three at the elaborate circle.
Slowly forms start to emerge from the fog. One before many. The one something new. A tall, gangly humanoid that is obviously unliving as from collarbone to pelvis there is naught but bone to be seen. The putrid grey of his flesh is only present on his arms, shoulders and legs, as his guts were scooped out in total. The head is partially wrapped in cloth, the soft green glow of his eyes and crooked hang of his jaw, filled with ragged teeth show. Cloth wraps upper and lower arms and his calves, with a ratty loincloth bound just below where the tips of his pelvic bone show from the remains of his flesh. HIs long fingers flex, tipped with long claws. Pausing just near enough that such details can be seen, along with the ragged necklace about his neck composed of fingers.. toes.. tongues? Yes. Barely two steps behind him come a mixed compliment of skeletal creatures, armed with melee weapons and clad in the useless remnants of old armor. Mostly a variety of helmets, boots, gantlets and the occasional ragged cloak, the majority of their bleached white forms unprotected.
For Leo, the experience will be different. The feeling that starts to gather about the three will help a little, perhaps. Tamiril speaking again after a few moments. "Now, let me channel your power, given freely." And he will feel a soft tug at his magical stores. More a hint than a grab, only taking what is given, but providing proper guidance for the power to flow towards Tameril, then to the stone that sits on his lap. Hector seems completely focused, but the helmet he wears can leave doubt. His own head uncovered, the elf wears a focused, but serene expression, a soft furrow in his brow the only mar that suggests at that focus. A soft light nestles within the ivory stone then, barely perceptible, but growing slowly over moments.
Maxy might not be as fast or quick as other types of juicers, but she is still not slow. Trained in fighting and such she grips the loaned silver sword and now that she has a target, she raises the sword, and looks directly at the leader, "Come let us dance, let us exchange blows, in a flurry of metal and bone, let us joy in the thrill of the dance of death." she shouts at the leader, some kind of challenge.
Tirzah certainly notices the absence Of Sage's strength of will in facing the undead horde. Taken aback by the gruesome reality of it she's forced to reconsider her position. But gritting her teach she remembers Sage and draws strength from her link to fire, sheathing her body in bright flames.
The focus upon his volunteered task at hand may well be a boon for Leonard as the agressors show themselves. Tamiril's mystic request for strength is responded to with an offering of whatever might be needed, to the limit of what modest stores remain. Both out of curiosity and for an easy target to narrow his concentration upon, head and eyes dip towards the brightening ivory stone.
Too wrapped up in her worry about using her weapon, Sage neglects to shield herself from the surge of fear that may come at the mere sight of these unnatural creatures. To her horror, it seems that these creatures have ... individual personalities.
Vixen trembles slightly as she gets a look at the 'leader' of the skeletons. "Holy fuck.." murmured lowly as she eases a step towards the edge of the protection circle. The image on the camera will tremble slightly along with her for a few moments as she seeks to master the sudden rise of fear.
The gutless undead at the fore leers towards the defenders and lifts his hands in a sharp motion, claws splayed at the gathered. Sign enough that causes the wave of skeletal warriors to surge forward, charging en mass. Again, without that uncanny sense of automation. They even call out mixed, garbled battle cries in a variety of languages, recognizable and not. That 'leader' disappears amongst the flow, his whereabouts obscured in the mix.
Up above, the lurking mage stands and weaves his fingers, calling out sharply as he covers the middle of the field between the two sides with an adhesive carpet. A good number of the skeletal warriors are caught by it, which causes no small amount of cursing amongst the ones stymied. The flow of attackers parting around that carpet to continue the assault. One side is further delayed by the wall, though they start to go around that as well to both sides. On the other side of the carpet, the skeletons run into fighters who, despite the fearsome assault, start to enter into a mixed melee with them. The gun holders turn their fire on the other side as they start to shake off the uncertainty, the ones still moving to circle the electrical wall. Chips of bone fly as the withering fire clips into them.
While Hector's head tilts slightly at the sound of the fighting that starts nearby, his helmeted head remains focused towards Tamiril. The elf himself completely still and focused, as if there were no danger to be found here. Leo can feel his magical reserves being tapped lightly. Drawing only so much as is needed from moment to moment. Those who can see and sense magic would feel a slow build of power centered on the three, tightly bound to the circle that surrounds them. And slowly the glow within the stone grows stronger.
Maxy cries out calls of battle and waits for them to come closer, not wanting to interfere with the shooters. She waits for ones to come close and attack any that foolishly get too close.
Tirzah also waits, content to engage any the make it past Maxy as the elemental starts fighting the ones trying to avoid the field her balls emit. "Push them back into the field if you can." She suggests to both Maxy and the elemental as she draws power from her link to fuel her armors magical protection.
As the icy chill of fear begins to abate, Sage lets her force of will ease the rest of it away as she suppresses her own fear. There is little she can do now but try her best to help out as she's able to. Once her nerves are settled a bit, she takes her first experimental shot. This is the first time she's taken this weapon into combat. Fortunately there are no shortage of targets.
There is no spoon. Nor are there horrific things coming after them. Given enough time, Leonard might actually make himself believe this. For now, staring at the glowing stone will need to suffice. With any luck, Tamiril's time estimate will be on the pessimistic end. Otherwise Leonard's dwindling reserves of power might outlast his strength to resist shifting his attention.
Vixen shakes off the uncertainty, slipping fully within one of the protection circles before she focuses on her filming. There's just too much action to get it all, but she does her best, the camera moving back and forth, moves independent of the direction her head turns. Yet she still aims it well and with her own eyes looking as well, she can catch moments to capture on film more often than not.
It will quickly become clear that these skeletons hold dangerous weapons. Either vibro-blades or, in the case of some, weapons that seem unremarkable, yet have a keen enough edge to cleave into modern armor. They're also notably more skilled than the average mindless skeleton, moving to attempt to flank and acting in support of one another with obvious cunning. Plenty of skeletons will start to advance on Maxy and Tirzah once they circumvent the carpet and the energy wall, attacking without a trace of fear.
From above a magic net comes down, snagging a few of the skeletons coming around the flank side of the electrical wall, but a moment after it's unleashed, a shout will come from above. The 'gutless' creature menaces the mage up top, having raked the back of his armor with its claws, the mage quick to turn and recite a new spell, a warding gesture composed as he enacts invisible protection to reinforce the deep furrows drawn along the back of his armor.
Leo will feel his energies depleted by half before Tamiril slowly releases his hand. And Hector's as well. "Leave the circle please." His voice is low, perfectly serene. This being something that seems to catch Hector off guard, a sense of confusion in his posture. "Leave then.." Tamiril nods. "Yes, leave the circle. Your assistance is done," he tells them, his hands moving in to pick up the stone slowly, clasped between both hands. Hector seems reluctant to do so, but after a moment he eases up. Then slowly backs off from the circle. Noticing then that the mage on the roof is amid his own one on one struggle.
Maxy is being advanced upon but turns the tables, she rushes into it, her sword dancing as slashes into anything within its grasp. Even with her massive size she moves with speed enough that she can dodge and weave strikes at her, not all, but more than a few and without even seeming to slow down her attacks at all. Her great strength bought to bear on each strike with the silvered sword. She misses the mage's one on one as she seeks that target amdist the rest of the skeletons.
Tirzah sighs softly as Maxy is lost to her fury, pushing forward into the battle. Having no desire to abandon the protection of the group she holds her ground, punching and kicking any skeletal warrior who would brave her flames. Always pushing back towards the field.
Leonard shifts his covered gaze from stone to Tamiril as the elf speaks, then rises to step from the circle. Only then does he turn his attention fully to the charging hordes and the battle against the same. Oh, joy. It is a good thing that his peaceful focus on a happy place is no longer needed, as it may have just been foreclosed and repossessed. Muttering as she wishes that she knew how to handle the weapon better, Sage realizes soon enough that she may not be able to stay where she is and simply shoot off round after round. She pulls the cross from the protect straps and uses telekinesis to hold it in front of her hoping it'll help deter the undead masses.
Vixen is a bit overwhelmed by the mix of activities, the shift of the camera becoming a bit too quick and common when it comes to recording the moment. But after a few moments she seems to realize she can't keep doing this, her panning slowed, smoother despite that it costs her some moments. Those she gets will be more clear and focused as a trade.
Pushing forward will let the skeletons move to surround Maxy, though her augmented agility does help. But it won't stay every blow as they attack without giving much ground. The same holds true for Tirzah. While her flames will be quiet effective, if not instantly so, they don't show fear of the damage done, more than one moving in to strike at her with their weapons. For now Sage and Vixen are left to her own, the skeletal warriors focused on the obvious threats. Above, the mage holds firm, despite the raking of the creature's claws at his magical protection, calling out a spell as his fingers trace the air. Though whatever it is he casts, it seems ineffective or simply shrugged aside. Which the undead takes advantage of by lifting and flinging him from the rooftop with a maniacal laugh. Fortunate for the mage that he had his flight spell active and remembers it before he hits the ground, slowing just above it. And then lifting back up as a few nearby skeletons take swings at him.
Hector moves towards the building where the 'gutless' undead stands, calling up a net to fling upward towards the creature. It manages to evade, leaping down from the building to land behind the line, dropping into a low crouch not too far from Tamiril. THe elf is oblivious, his attention focused on the glowing white stone. His eyes open slowly, revealing a soft blue-white glow as he stares at the stone intently. THe building power continuing to rise.
Maxy keeps fighting, bringing all her speed and supernatural strength to bear as she hacks at each one. She is looking for the gutless one and will even hurl herself through the air in that direction. Meanwhile, she will slash, hack, and body tackle skeletons. The body tackle ones she is attempting to knock into the electrical field.
Tirzah is holding her own for now. A few blows make it past her ability to parry but she is definitely doing far more damage than she is taking. Her face holding sheen with sweat from the ongoing fight she notices as the leader leaps down to land behind the line. Gesturing to the flame friend she summoned she lets it engage her foes as she steps to intercede with the gruesome leader.
Leonard now finds himself between the proverbial immovable object and unstoppable force, the two items replaced by the concentrating Tamiril and the gutless thing that suffers from no lack of courage. With limited options available in the immediate moment, Leonard acts against his otherwise valid preferences and steps into arm's reach of the thing as his hands lift to eke out more of his waning strength.
As Sage begins to realize where most of the enemy attention is going, she moves the silver cross over in an attempt to help out the two that have become the front liners of the group. The silver cross hopefully will make some of the attackers reluctant.
Vixen turns as some of the focus moves towards the back of the pack. Though she eases towards the middle of the circle more as the skeletons get close, she keeps filming, fixed on the area around the unique undead amongst the pack.
With herself already surrounded by enemies,. Maxy will find that remains the same if she turns to go back and head towards the 'leader'. And while some will contend with the Flame Friend, which will quickly be surrounded, one or two will follow after Tirzah doggedly to hack at her. And while Sage will find that the floating cross will keep them away from it, using the object to guard both of the women is a difficult proposal as the skeletons seem a way to go around it, keeping after the two.
Leo will find that his spell actually has effect. The creature, crouched and ready to spring, will stop suddenly, staring at Leonard with an odd leer. Slowly it rises from its crouch, head cocked subtly as it stares at the man intently. Hector wastes little time, however, in casting another magic net, this one wrapping the undead to bring it down again. "To close was that one," he comments with a low sigh.
The undead leader taken out for her Tirzah doubles back, facing those behind her. But she recognizes her waning armor enchantment and draws per for another spell before her attack. The area before her being swallowed by inky blackness before she steps in to make short work of any who are in or enter into the darkness.
Maxy keeps fighting then, drawing as many as she can, and trying to push them back and away. She seems to be having the time of her life, but then again the drugs and adrenaline are racing through her body and doing their work.
Leonard is nearly as surprised at the effect as the creature, but has the concealment of his helm to mask most of it. Even if it might have been fleeting, it is enough for the other to ensure the immediate threat. Now that that seems diverted, Leo retrieves the SMG from his cloak and readies it. Other than that sudden scare, all seems to go as well as can be expected, and he remains near the concentrating elf as a secondary line of defense. That was enough charging in for him for one day, and his magic is all but spent.
Since the large woman seems to have decided to attract as many as possible, Sage decides to wait and see what the woman's intentions were. Settling on that course of action, she tries to make the silver cross orbit around Tirzah instead. It may not prevent the creatures from attacking her partner, but it may give Tirzah a way to predict where the attack will come from.
Vixen lingers for a moment on the fallen undead before she snaps back around smoothly, moving her all seeing eye back to the majority of the fighting. Breathing a low sigh, she moves to keep her focus on what people would want to see. Easing a bit to the side to put a little extra room between her and Maxy.
The fighting moves back to a pitched sort of battle, the ebb and flow of it varied. The defenders are outnumbered from the outset, but do well for themselves. That is, until minutes later when more forms start to emerge from the fog. New ranks of the undead skeletons coming forward. Enough to worry a rational observer considerably. Though even as this new cluster of skeletons advances, the tight grow of power around the elf surges along with a visible flare of white light.
Tamiril lifts the stone above his head slowly and the glow within it flashes for a second time. This flash seeming to give pause to the skeletons. "Seal this world.. seal this reality. Shield them all!" Called out loudly, with an exultant air to his voice. The stone rises further, leaving Tamiril's physical grasp, yet still his. A shimmering image of the elf stands slowly from the seated position of his physical shell, which slowly slumps to the side once that image has risen to its feet. Turned, the image presents the stone towards the battle and a slight, pleased little smile comes to him before one final flash blots all things in white for an instant. The next moment it is gone. As is the image. As is the fog, the skeletons and the leading undead, the useless magic net evaporating without something to hold. The midday sun is high and unobstructed, the cold, crisp air clear.
And for a few moments, confusion will remain for those who had just before been fighting, now bereft of enemies.
Maxy dances still, her blade slashing through the air and she moves and weaves, dodging blades no longer there, slashing skeletons no longer remaining. Her reflexes are still such, not so much confusion, but taking a moment for her body to catch up to her mind and realize it is over.
The darkness dissolving around her Tirzah looks about speculatively. It worked, they were 'saved'. But she doesn't appear to share the sentiments she knows many others will. But not wanting to dampen that she tries for a blank expression and does manage a sigh of relief as she see's Sage is safe.
Leonard's first response is to blink several times. As he works to scatter afterimages and re-evaluate the situation, his weapon is lowered. It takes a moment for him to realize that the continued brightness is, in fact, the sun, since he's rarely seen it as of late.
Once moment Sage is controlling a cross to protect her partner and sneak in a shot of silver when possible in defense of her comrades... then next, it all seems to be over. The brighteness is shielded by the helmet thankfully, but the change does give her pause. She pulls back the cross once she believes her eyes and tucks it away. As does she put away the pistol. "Is anyone hurt?" She calls out, on first instinct.
Vixen blinks a few times after the brightness that comes, checking her camera after a few moments to make sure its still functional.. which it is. She then takes note of the lack of things trying to kill them.. and the lack of fog. Frowning faintly she is perhaps the first to ask it. "Is it over?"
A common pair of sentiments that seem to cover the majority of the standing defenders, glancing about. Two of them are down, but its obvious enough that the wounds taken are not ones that you survive for long. So too, Tamiril lies still and silent at the center of the drawn circle. Likely what prompts the mournful howl that comes from Raja, the lupine dog boy going to him at once, anyone before him shoved unkindly aside to clear his way. A contrasting gentleness is used to lift up the elf, a second, longer outcry following. It draws much attention, including Hector who shakes hsi head slightly, observing the two in silence.
Maxy turns and cocks her head to the side, the outcry bringing her to her senses. She glances around and shakes her head a bit. She looks at herself to take stock of herself, hard to tell if you get hit much and all, when you don't really feel pain.
Finding relief in Sage's well being Tirzah walks over and crouches to embrace her without hesitation. But looking over behind Sage the sight of the fallen elf gives her pause. Though it may not be the solution she ultimately believes in its clear the elf died because he did believe in it. She frowns at the unfairness of that. Her expression firming against the grief she looks to Hector. "Is your party capable of traveling quickly?" She asks him pointedly, her tone indicating there might be something to be done for the elf.
There was the image of Tamiril, and then...not. Leonard must presume that the elf will now be under whatever care his divine inspiration offers, and takes a step or to from the howling Raja. Now would not be the best of times to approach the canid, and frankly, Leonard wouldn't know what words to use, regardless. What he does say is directed to Vixen and her question, voice weary. "I do hope so."
When there no calls for medical attention right away, Sage welcomes the embrace with the other woman. It takes her a moment to realize that something had happened. Her gaze eventually moving to rest on the still form of the Elf. She moves over to the body as if to see if there's anything that can be done, but it soon becomes apparent that the body is a mere shell now. "I honour your sacrifice." She says softly to the body, and bows her head in a sign of respect.
Vixen follows Raja's dash, shifting aside some despite not being near enough to block, thus she catches the scene as it happens. I guess no one can doubt what's real now," she muses soberly, half to herself. Otherwise silently letting the camera take in the truth of the moment.
Raja has his focus, the more vocal expression of it giving way to one more silent. He holding the body close, protective of it even now. Which gets Sage a low growl when she comes near. But the big canine seems to realize she means no harm, thus the sound trails off before it can mature. Hector seems a bit shocked as it takes him a moment to key to Tirzah's question. "Eh? Travel how quick?" Not seeming to make an instant connection to the woman's intent.
Most of the rest of the gathered don't seem to know, as a whole, just what to do at the moment. Some start to move away, as if uncertain if things are truly ended or not. Some begin to talk amongst themselves and others observe the scene with silence.
Maxy turns and moves over towards the group as well, "Was that it? Is there more?" she seems a bit confused like things I just now finally starting to process as she comes down slightly from the drugs.
Tirzah looks Hectar firmly in the eyes to underline the haste required for her reply. "Two hundred miles south east of here is a village and a commune of several Warlocks. One of whom can breathe life back into him. His name is Cole. The village is over the wide river and in the shadow of a modest mountain, not too hard to spot. But you have to get him there within twenty four hours." She explains. "Tell him that I, Tirzah, gave you the directions in return for his sacrifice and you shouldn't have any issues."
Glancing to the large woman, Sage may have a small smile behind that visor. "For now, perhaps." She comments, thinking there's bound to be other trouble in the future for them. Then, she looks to Tirzah as she comments about how the Elf may yet be brought back to life. She moves to stand beside the woman. She keeps silent for the time being as she's unsure of how such an offer would be taken by the others.
Vixen is curious as well, catching part of the given offer visually with her camera, shifting it towards Hector afterward. Though as she notices the loitering of the others around, she motions at some of them to get a move on. Mostly the ones that seem to be lingering on the edge of departure.
Hector shakes his head. "We've no means to travel quickly," he replies simply. "Besides, consider this." he looks back towards Raja and Tamiril. "This was his path to walk, his choice to make. Willfully done, no doubt, though he chose not to tell us this. Do you think he would willfully return?" He shakes his head. "He would ask why he was given such a thing, rather than another. No doubt he is with his now." The mage lifts a hand to cross himself before moving towards Raja, a light hand placed on his shoulder. The dog boy barely reacts. Hector leans in to speak softly to him.
Some of those waved at decide that its good enough for them to go their separate ways. Some of those remaining gather up the fallen to bear them off with a silent gravity that is due.
Maxy cocks her head to the side, "It might have taken a sacrifice to make it work, and if undone, all the good undone as well?" she shrugs a bit. She glances left and then right and then eyes her borrowed silver sword. Tirzah nods, ready to accept that if they are. "Thank you then, you've saved the world." She notes letting that sink in to everyone, even herself. Still she doesnt look overly convinced by her own words. She looks cheated.
Leonard considers the discussions of Tamiril as he unlatches and doffs his helm. Rather than join the discourse outright, he simply shakes his head slightly. He then steps from the immediate vicinity of conversation, camera, and mourning, perhaps in respect to all three.
When her partner seems to accept what's said, Sage gives the woman a one-armed embrace around her back. "Yes, thank you." She says, relieved to know that nights may soon be back to normal. << It is a good way to go... he will live on in our memories. >> She murmurs into the other woman's mind.
Vixen breathes out lowly. letting her camera work relax for now. Still filming, but in a more casual sense. less focused on picture than on sound. Thus she can expand her awareness a bit more. "I just hope it means the fog will be gone. I'm damn tired of it and I ain't been here all that long," she murmurs, already feeling a bit disgruntled just talking about it. "Maybe things can get back to normal around here.. well, as normal as usual, what will the Coalition on the warpath." She nods to the thankful sentiment, however, though a glance towards Tirzah will prompt her to wonder, "What's up with you? You don't look so happy."
Hector nods his head to the thanks. "I accept them for him, that he cannot say so himself now. But I only did what was needed." The raspy voiced mage turns back to Raja. "Come, large one. Let us see if our other friends live still. Then perhaps we can see what we shall do now that the task is done." It takes little to get the big canid moving and once he is, he follows along after Hector quietly, bearing away the elf. Several pairs of eyes follow them both and with that, most seem to decide that the time to go has come. Slowly filtering away in all directions.
Tirzah manages a slight smile and nod to Sage and leans in close for her comfort. "Its not that. I am grateful for his sacrifice. He did save us from the undead. But they aren't defeated. This world, in this reality is safe, but not others. I guess being connected with another plane of existence the smallness of that grace is more evident. I bet Leonard grasps some of what I'm saying. There's nothing to be done about it but the difference feels important to acknowledge. We didn't win, we were removed from the jaws." She explains softly, not wanting her words to carry past those closest.
Maxy quiets now and just looks around, almost as if expecting to be jumped again.
Leonard glances over to Tirzah as his name is mentioned and nods. "One world at a time is more than enough, Tirzah. Especially when it's... ours. You can't stop everything, everywhere."
A gentle squeeze is give to the other woman, as Sage nods faintly to Leonard's response. "There is only so much anyone can do... better to take it in small steps than try to win a marathon with a single step." She comments, "It is a victory for us... one less world can fall to its apetite. And, perhaps there will be others that will deny more."
"That's pretty much it," Vixen says, nodding towards Leo. "Don't gotta look too far to know that much. Do what you can, don't sweat when you can't do it all cause that's going to happen a lot. I'm not sweating it for sure. Though I'm definitely up for a little celebration. I got a feeling that'd fit better than moping about, don't you think?" She glances around.
Maxy cocks her head to the side, "Possibly, might see if there are other places in the city that might need my asssitance, things moved and what not."
Tirzah shrugs, not having much energy to debate this after the fact. "No, but we might have been able to stop the source. But we never got the chance to try. I, for one, have to believe we might have if we did. Would have cost us more, might have cost us everything. But I suppose that is the breadth between sacrificing a life, and sacrificing a world. A hard thing to ask a world, I cant fault him, but I still feel cheated." She finishes, her hand searching for Sage's so she might find the strength to turn away and move on.
"Celebration seems as good an idea as any." Leonard finally rejoins the dwindling group as he steps towards Vixen. "I could certainly use a drink and some conversation a bit more upbeat." He even manages a smile. Letting the other woman taken her hand, Sage tries to lend Tirzah whatever strength she can. "There would be something else to replace it... a matter of balance." She offers the other woman, "Now... come, there are better things to do that mope over your lost grand cosmic war." Her tone becoming teasing near the end. "This is getting too heavy for me," Vixen comments idly. "If any of you want to get loaded or just mix it up a little, I'm going to the Alibi tonight, after I get this armor off, get comfry and prime time rolls around. Knock back a few, smoke one and soak it in. Anyone who wants to come, gets a round on me." She flips the camera around and looks into the lens. "Sorry about that, listeners. Offer null and void after today." She makes a kissy motion at the future viewers of the PDD to be, then flips it back around. Who knows how much longer before she puts that second PDD out?
Maxy cocks her head to the side a little and looks at Sage and Tirzah for a moment and then looks in the direction of the arena. "I might come by for drinks." she shrugs a bit.
Tirzah smirks at Sage, taking her mocking in stride as she gathers herself and stands. "Yeah alright, sue me for being the altruistic one this time." She mocks in return, ready to let it slide. "Drinks sound like a good idea, just need a bit to get into something more comfortable." She notes, looking to Sage and a sly smiles forms.
"I'll just talk nicely to get what I want instead." Sage replies with a little bemusement at the other woman's mocking. She nods, though, to the comment about drinks. "I'll need some time as well." She comments as she glances back to the others. She's ready to depart for the time being. "Take care until then?" She asks, as if wondering whether there is anything else that people will want her for before heading off.
Maxy starts to drift away since others seem to be doing just that. Under her armor, any wounds that made it through are slowly healing but then that is the way that it works. Off she goes.
Vixen smirks as she turns and takes her camera with her, casually turning it off. "Yeah, I'll be htere. YOu show when you want, but I'll be there around five. And I'm going to be loving it. No more of this fog bullshit." Indeed she seems pleased. "Catch you all later now." A hand lifted in a casual motion as she walks off to the south steadily.
Tirzah nods, letting Sage go. "See you guys later then." She promises before signalling to the elementals she summoned to follow her as she heads home.
