Harry's Gym - Mid-Afternoon
Zyvis is actually not armored up for once, instead wearing much more casual clothing since, well, he's working out. Something he apparently takes pretty seriously judging by the fact that he's working out while still carying weapons, so that his body doesn't forget the weight of them. At the moment he's doing gymnastics tumbling through one of the padded area's, back flips, hand springs, all that fun stuff.
Erica is running on the treadmill at an almost 10% angle at a pretty good pace. She seems to have pretty good endurance as she has been running for a while. Wearing a grey tanktob and sports bra and grey shorts she has already worked up a bit of a sweat. A pocket digital disc player is on her waistband with the cord running up and into the base of her skull. Her long hair is tied into a long ponytail.
The psi-stalker continues through his routine, springing and bouncing about like some sort of hyper chipmunk or the like. He finishes with a flip and lands solidly on booted feet, coming to a stop. Once done he checks his weapons to make sure the ones he's wearing are still secure and then nods to himself. Moving over towards a bench he picks up a towel and drapes it around his neck even though he's not really worked up a sweat yet. Taking a look around to see what other equipment and the like might be worth using he starts to walk around the gym.
Erica is still running uphill and breathing heavily as she keeps working on that treadmill. Her lips move slightly beyond her breathing as she keeps running, seemingly singing along to the music that is playing in her head. She has built up a bit of a sweat and her grey gym clothes are damp from her work out, but she doesn't seem to mind as she keeps moving.
One of the nice things about the Gym, at least right now, is there's not many things or people around who seem to be triggering Zyvis predatory instincts. He heads over towards the treadmills himself and decides to work on some cardio, but he has no music player plugged into his skull. Instead he just sets the towel over one of the forward bars and puzzles out the interface, or tries to anyways. Seems he's not all that familiar with them...
Erica looks over to the man who seems to be struggling with his treadmill. She takes out her emergency shut off key to stop the treadmill and hits the stop button on her disc player. "Hi there. You need help?" She asks with a raised eyebrow as she grabs her water bottle from the nearby bottle holder and takes a sip.
"I'm not familiar with this kind of machine." Zyvis says while still looking at the interface for the treadmill. "I can tell you use it to run, in place... though I am not sure why one would not just run normally." That last bit he admits in a softer tone before he looks over at the woman. "It is not like the interfaces I am used to."
Erica nods her head slightly and gives Zyvis a quick smile. "Not to worry. Here I can show you." She says while tapping on two buttons. "This will move your elevation up and down." She says while pausing for a moment to make sure you get it. "This wrist band is your heart rate monitor. And this these buttons you cna program your route..." She keeps talking as she goes over the various abilites of the treadmill. "I like having a programmed route. It's nice."
"What sort of route? Does it know the local terrain?" Zyvis asks curiously, looking at every thing that she speaks about on the treadmill. "And, this is better than running normal somehow?" He seems to be full of questions as he looks towards the much shorter woman.
Erica licks her lips quickly before she takes another sip of her water bottle. "Well it has some preprogrammed routes in it. One is sort of similar to around here." She says with a shrug of her shoulders. "Well this way I can run uphill for a couple miles then run straight, then go back to uphill. That and I'm in a secure enviroment and can listen to music." She doesn't seem to mind the looks or questions and speaks with a confident tone.
Zyvis nods a bit and looks back towards the display panel, "Interesting." He smiles a little, "I am used to everywhere being a hostile environment." He chuckles, "I have decided however, that if I wish to make this city my home, I should perhaps, not go everywhere in full EBA." He then asks, "Can you set it to what you are used to?"
Erica shrugs her shoulders and nods. "Uh sure. Although I don't think it will be as much for a psi-stalker like yourself." She says with a slight smile as she sets the tilt of the treadmill to ten degrees for two miles then flat for two miles then back to ten degrees for another two miles. "Us simple girls don't have those crazy abilites you have." She says with another shrug. "I find if you don't go to the dregs there aren't any problems that you need body armor for. And I have handled my share of problems."
"I am trying to join the Police Force." Zyvis says in response to that, watching her set the treadmill. "I imagine I will be wearing my armor a lot regardless, if I am accepted." He hmmms to himself and then stands on the treadmill, "Which controls the speed?" He asks curiously, "How does it know how fast I run?"
Erica laughs softly as she shakes her head. "You just push this plus button to make it go faster, and the minus to make it go slower. Don't worry they are made to go fast enough for your kind." She says as she takes a little sip of her water bottle. "Oh yah? You wanting to join the force like Bailey? You both come here together, or do you know her? Well I do merc work. I hire for missions and run missions myself."
Zyvis shakes his head, "I do not know her." He admits, "I have not met another of my people since coming here. As for that kind of work," He smiles, "I do that as well, for now. I also take bounties on dangerous and evil supernatural beings as an exterminator." He then looks back at the controls and nods. He presses start and then starts to jog with it, ramping it up until he is running at 20 mph, which he treats something like a jog.
Erica nods as she shrugs her shoulders. "Well there are plenty of your people here. Lots of them working security and for KDPD so I'm sure you'll meet lots of your people." She mentions while she turns her treadmill on and starts jogging back up to speed. "Well if your looking for work I'll offer you same rate I offered the other. A untrained warhorse plus kit for escort mission from here to Newtown and back. I hold on to the pink slip until we get back."
"I don't know how to train such an animal." Zyvis states as he jogs along his route, his breathing controlled and smooth and, of course, not breaking a sweat. "I have always gotten along well with them, and know how to ride them, but training them is another matter entirely. Though..." He wrinkles his brow in thought, "I do not know if that will make a real difference for me..." He hmmms a bit. "Why Newtown? Is it not Coalition controlled still?"
Erica laughs softly in between breaths. "And that is my problem? You are a psi-stalker after all." She says with a slight smile as she keeps jogging uphill on her treadmill. "It is an offer. You don't want to take it that is up to you. And yes I think it is still under Coalition control."
Zyvis chuckles, "You are quick to jump to a conclusion." He notes simply in a still conversational tone of voice. "I did not say no, I am merely curious as to why you would only offer an untrained equine for a dangerous overland trip without making any note of possible salvage splits should we become attacked." He then admits, "I am also curious as to the purpose of the trip to Newtown as well."
Erica keeps laughing as she jogs up her hill on the treadmill. "Oh did I say you couldn't keep salvage or equipment? I said that is my offer. If we encounter anything you may take your split of equipment, but if not you get the horse. You don't like the offer that is your problem. I'm going to Newtown to deliver a package. It isn't illegal." She mentions as she starts working herself up to speed.
"You have a very aggressive manner about you. All this talk of 'your problem' and the like." Zyvis says as he runs along the treadmill, looking over at her with a sidelong glance for a few moments. He shakes his head and turns his focus to... nothing, staring straight ahead. "It is strange I think, when someone is only curious."
Erica keeps chuckling inbetween her now heavy breathing. "Well mercs are a dime a dozen. I just thought you might appreciate the offer. If you don't that is fine." She says inbetween heavy breaths for air. "Look you are not unique, but if you want work for a price this is what I have to offer. This is sort of the way things go sometimes. You don't want the work. Don't take it."
"Will you be covering e-clip charges upon return? Zyvis asks, "If not, a horse alone is not worth the potential loss in credits to having to recharge e-clips expended in any fighting we might encounter with hostile creatures, bandits, or who knows what else." He shrugs, "But I guess it does not matter. If I do not find something to do beyond wander the streets of Kingsdale I will rapidly become bored and move on. I will go."
Erica keeps laughing as she shakes her head. "Listen you can gain a helll of a lot more then what I am offering as inital pay and you know it. Yes it might possibly suck, but then what did you lose? Nothing in fact you gained a horse." She keeps shaking her head as her treadmill moves down to a level surface. "Well glad to hear you have accepted." She says as she mentions her radio frequency.
"Yes, you are getting quite the bargain for my skills." Zyvis says with a grin, still plugging along at a 20 mile per hour 'jog' though that's more than a jog for most humans. "When are you planning to go?" He must intend to simply memorize the frequency she gave him or the like.
Erica shrugs her shoulders again as she smiles softly. "Like I said you don't have to tak the job if you don't want it. You think it is a bargin then that works for you I guess. I will be going as soon as I get word that the package is ready. Can't give you more specific information then that. And since your skills don't include the transportation needed to fulfill this job. I think I am doing you a favor."
Zyvis presses the stop button on the treadmill and looks at her, "Really." He says flatly, "Doing me a favor, by offering me an untrained horse for escorting you and your package across hostile wilderness." He shakes his head, "You have some ego." He steps off the treadmill, leaving the towel where it rests on it and turns for the door. "A Horse that will likely be dead in the first engagement with a serious enemy during this trip. No. I think it is I who am doing you the favor." He looks over his shoulder at her, "But, so long as we both believe we are each doing each other a favor..." He chuckles amusedly and then shrugs. "I will be listening in on the frequency."
Erica shrugs her shoulders and shakes her head. "Well then don't take it. You do what you do and that will be that. I gave you my offer out of courtesy. I allready have people and creatures more experienced then you working on this. You don't want to do it then that is ok." She says with a slight shake of her head. "I have people that are doing this for much less then you, and that are much more powerful then you. I am doing you this fucking favor. Take it or not." She says with a slight shake of her head as she works back up to speed
"I already said I would." Zyvis says with an upraised eyebrow, "How hard is that to get through your skull? Perhaps you should rest. Your mind is not appearing to be functioning properly." He shakes his head and turns for the exit.
Erica hits the buton for the off switch on her treadmill. "Really you want to go ahead an insult the person that will be giving you orders. Orders that you are expected to obey? You either submit to my orders or you don't come on the mission. That is your choice."
At that Zyvis does turn and he looks at her with a flat gaze. "Insult you?" He smirks, "You insult me from the very get go of this 'favor' you are supposedly offering me. A trip into the wilds without even recompense for energy clip charges that will be expended. I may be a different species than you, but that does -not- make me stupid. I was accepting your offer at a net loss, unless we had absolutely zero contact with any enemy at all. In which case, it still probably is a loss simply for the time I will be out of Kingsdale where I could be acquiring solidly paying work. You insult me with your offer, then you insult me time and time again with your attitude and your incessant insistence that this is somehow paying -me- a favor. You think I could not afford an -untrained horse-?" He smiles at her then, "Let alone your constant derogatory comments about my skill. You do not know me, you do not know what I can or cannot do. Yet I am insulting -you-? Somehow this relates to some inability to follow orders? You insult me with every other word, have no desire to haggle, nor even offer recompense to possible hazards nor payment to fit this 'mission'. That is not a 'favor' to me, no matter how you might think it in your little make believe world."
"When did I say anything about insult? And really did I say anything about your untrained horse. I said I would offer you others that had alrady accepted my job. You don't want to that is fine with me. You go ahead and work on your chores then. Ain't a bother for me. I just offered this job to you as a friendly gesture. You have fun with your work then. And I'll go ahead and keep working out."
"You must be losing your mind, you mentioned it not two minutes ago." Zyvis says with a smirk and he shakes his head turning to walk for the door again and out into the weather.
Erica shrugs her shoulders as she shakes her head. "Hair enough then. Have a fun time when you lose out for all the credits." She mentions as she keeps jogging
"Yes, all the credits of an untrained horse." Zyvis says over his shoulder with a smirk.
