The Kingsdale Library is a simply massive affair. It is one of the largest facilities of its kind in North America and continually draws the ire of the Coalition States for that very reason. It is the size of an entire city block and contains row after row and row after row after row of books, data disks and all sorts of information. Literally anything can be found here, from simple recepies on how to make food on up to the plans to Glitter Boy Power Armor. Magical knowledge abounds here too and it is not an exxageration to say that with time, one can find out just about anything. The actual structure of the 'room' is a giant square, with bookshelves reaching from floor to about ten feet. Librarians and other staff scuttle about to help people find things. Of note is the fact that nothing is permitted to leave the library and both electronic and magical wards make sure that this doesn't happen. Within this huge place are all shapes, sizes and colors. From operators pouring over technical manuals to mages studying spells to children researching for a school project. Rumors abound also of a secret sub level where the truly rare books and items are kept. These rumors are true, but unless someone has been invited to the sub-level by a few specific people.... magical wards prevent the entrance from being found.
Rasputin is at a large table, stacks of books on both sides of him, as he slowly works through the books keeping notes in a large journal.
Galvin walks by Rasputin's table carrying a small stack of books. He looks over and recognizes the dwarf quickly enough. He smiles and sets his stack of books on the table. "Hi there Rasputin."
Rasputin doesn't notice your arrival right away, he finally looks up and blinks. Then tugs his beard, almost spilling the ink well over with his motions. Then he smiles, "Da, da. Dobryj den' to you Galvin."
Galvin creases his brow in a slightly a puzzled expression before he shrugs his shoulders. "Uh yah. Same to you there Rasputin." He moves over to the side of the table, closer to Rasputin. "Uh I wanted to ask you a couple questions about the security system you wanted installed."
Rasputin nods and tugs his beard, "Da, da. Pozhaluista, be havink a seats, da?" He stands and moves a few books to make room for you to have a space on the table.
Galvin shakes his head slightly as he pats his pockets, and takes out a hand held computer from a large pocket. "Uh Pozhaluista to you as well." He mentions while taking a seat down next to Rasputin. "Uh needed to ask you which rooms you wanted covered in your deli, and how much coverage you wanted?
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. Are you havink a layouts of the Deli? I cannik shows yous, if you are havink a diagrams. Da?" He tugs his beard, "If you are nettink havink one, I can be drawink one to shows placements, da?"
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. Are you havink a layouts of the Deli? I cannik shows yous, if you are havink a diagrams. Da?" He tugs his beard, "If you are nettink havink one, I can be drawink one to shows placements, da?"
Galvin tilts his head to listen and concentrate on what you are saying. "Uh yah I need a diagram, and I need you to make some decisions on coverage as well. We have cameras and motion detectors. I want to link them together to a handheld monitor for you. So we need to figure out what you want to be covered."
Rasputin tugs his beard and nods. He pulls out a piece of paper from the back of his journal, then wets his ink pen. After a few moments, he has drawn out a fairly accurate diagram of his shop. "Da, da. Nowink, I am dinkink, to be havink cameras outsides, da. Ones on each corners, da? With motion sensors for da lights in backink, da? Can we be doink audio's as wells?"
Galvin nods his head slowly in agreement as he jots down a couple notes on his computer. "Well each of the video cameras also has audio pickup and should be able to listen up to 6.1 meters or so. Do you want cameras inside as well? So you want the motion sensers to work the lights in the back? Is that right?" He asks with a little bit of confusion from your accent. "What about the apartment do you want that as well?"
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. Camerias on all of times, but lights on motion sensors in backink." Rasputin pauses a moment, "Insides is goodink. I am wantink, perhapsink, 4 in deli, and 2 in hall, da?" He looks at the basement, "Da, da, and 2 in basement, and 1 beink in locker." He tugs his beard and thinks a bit more, "
Galvin rights down what Rasputin says on his computer as Rasputin says it. He keeps nodding his head before adjusting his glasses, pushing them further up on his nose. "Do you want anything in the apartment? So how about one pointing at the back door in the hall and one pointing in the opposite direction. Then in the deli room one in each corner, or what would you like them somewhere else? One in each the two adjoining corners of the basement area? The corner opposite of the stairs and then the corner above it on the same wall of the stairs?"
Rasputin looks to you and draws out where thinks should go. He then looks at you and waits for your comments. "Da, da?" He looks not understanding various thinks about the devices, "Da, andink they can beink small, da? Net be seen? Da?"
Galvin makes a couple adjustments on the diagram as he adjusts for the capabilites of the cameras. "They are pretty about 13 cm in diameter so they can be seen, but could be easily disguised. There are smaller cameras, but those are about 4200 credits each. These ones are only about 200-300 credits. Just have to do a little creative decorating."
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. I am net wantink them to be seen, da. If I am havink to pays mores, perhapsink I can be doink dhat. Da? Perhapsink a bid on each?"
Galvin adjusts his glasses before nodding his head. "Well infrared sensors are going to run about 1200 credits. We can set them up maybe to point at the doorways. Those are a little heavier though. Just so you know. Perhaps one on each door?"
Rasputin thinks a few moments and tugs his beard, "Da, da. Infrared, da, da. I am dhinkink, that they would be goodink, da. Shows heat or coldink, da?" He tugs his beard, "Goodink to show net normals, da?" He smiles.
"Yah they will show any variation in heat so either something cold or something hot." Galvin says after a moment. "They would be good, but the motion detectors should pick up most things. But the IR cameras would make for good backup."
Rasputin nods, "Da, da." He tugs his beard, "Da, da." He tugs his beard a bit more, "I am thinkink, wired would be goodink. Perhapsink, hidden lines." He ponders, "Perhapsink, lines net showink. Da?"
Galvin shrugs his shoulders quickly as he nods his head. "Well I can rewire everything so that the wires are in the walls and not visible. That shouldn't be a problem. Just take a little work. So you want the IR cameras pointed at the doors then?"
Rasputin nods, "Da, da." He ponders a few moments, "It is soundink good, da. Very securink." He smile, "I was thinkink, a hand units for viewing live. And perhapsink, a computers units up stairs." He tugs his beard, "Withink, backups in basement, da? Would that beink possible."
Galvin taps his finger against his lips as he nods his head slowly. "Yes I think that would work perfectly. Maybe get a safe for the backups? That way they couldn't be gotten to in a very easy manner. I should be able to wire the whole thing up in a day or two. Just need to get the computer units and everything."
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da." He ponders a few moments, "Ifink, you do wires to basements, I can be doink rest, da?" He thinks a few moments, "Ifink it is easies to be connectink, computer to wires?" He thinks a few moments, "I'm kindink, worried about wireless, da?"
Galvin nods his head in agreement. "Yes wireless isn't completely secure. I'll run the wires to the basement and you can put in the safe. I'll make sure the computer is ready to be hooked up as well."
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. So wires up to my appartments, da? Andink to basements, da?" He smiles, "Goodink, goods." He smiles a bit, "Do you knowink, how much da?" He smiles.
Galvin shakes his head slightly. "Not yet I'll have to get an estimation for the new cameras and make sure everything is set up and ready to go. But I should have an estimate ready for you pretty soon."
Rasputin nods slowly and tugs his beard, "Da, da." He folds up the paper and hands it to you, "Net be sharink with anyones, da? Dwells, anyones you don't needink to do works, da?" He smiles a bit, "I am havink, somes moneis for dhis, da?" He grins, "I am wantink it good, da. But justink, net know how muchink I can spares, da."
Galvin nods his head. "Of course I won't tell anyone. I mentioned it to a woman named Vixen, but she knows a lot more about security systems then I did. She gave me a couple tips, but no specific information was shared. I think for the cameras it will be about 50400 credits if you want the small models. As opposed to 2592 for the slightly bigger cameras. The rest should run 3888 for the ultraviolets. Same for the motion sensors. Not exactly sure how much for the lights."
Rasputin nod slowly, "Da, da. Daht is moreink thans I am havink at the moments." He tugs his beard, "I could beink perhaps tradink you moneies and perhaps some items?" He thinks a moment, "Or perhapsink do somes now, and mores laters. Buttink perhaps, run up numbers and then I am knowink how muchs I will be needink, da?"
Galvin adjusts his glasses back up on his face. "Yah I don't have much in the way of credits at the moment. I only have about 12k in credits. So I think you might want to decide on a mix of cameras. Do you really want the small cameras for each spot. The other ones are about the size of my palm or so. Perhaps we can mix and match. Or you can get the regular cameras and I can upgrade them as you get the credits?"
Rasputin ponders and tugs his beard, "Da, da. I am thinkink, perhaps." He looks to you, "Can you be makink me bid for both? Or if I do as you, er, sayink mix and matchink? Dhat way I can be figurink out differents ideas, da?"
Galvin smiles slightly as he nods his head. "Oh well like each of the mini cameras are about 4200 the regular cameras are 216 at the moment when I last price checked them. I think only the cameras in the deli need to be the mini versions. I mean the customers aren't going to see any of them. That cuts the camera costs down to about 14544 credits."
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. Buttink if they are be seeink, dhen someones might be destroyink or disables, da?" He ponders a moment and tugs his beard.
Galvin licks his lips as he thinks about it. "Well it seems to me the outside ones are the ones in danger of being destroyed right? I think those could be disguised perhaps. Have you seen those fake owls that are supposed to scare away pigeons? Maybe build them into those?"
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. Dhat is a goodink ideas, da. Or just build it into the buildinks, da?" He tugs his beard, "Or buildink items, da." He thinks a few moments, "Soundink good, da."
Galvin smiles at Rasputin in a friendly manner as he nods his head. "I think we can disguise them easily enough so that they aren't destroyed, but they are cheap enough that we could replace them. It might be a little trial and error at the start. But I think we can get it set up for a resonable price."
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da." He thinks a few moments, "Goodink, da. Goodink." He smiles a bit, "So, withink that dones, are you doink wells?"
Galvin saves the work on his computer and puts it back into one of his pockets. "Well I finally found a place to stay, and I also found work. I'm working at Advanced Idea Mechanics. It is a pretty cool place to work. They have all sort of robots and power armor there."
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da." He tugs his beard, "Da, da, goodink." He cants his head a little, "AIM? Da? Dis dhat the shop I was talkink abouts? Or anothers?" He folds his note book.
Galvin shakes his head slightly. "No it is a different garage. I wanted to work at this one because it delt with more robotics. It seemed like a good and fun place to work. So far so good." He says with a shrug of his shoulders.
Rasputin nods slowly and tugs his beard, "Da, da. I will be gettink back to my studies. Da, pleasink, comink by Deli with final plans, da?"
