It's rather gloomy out, and a light wind brings heavy snow flakes fluttering about to form large snow drifts. The full moon hangs overhead.
Kingsdale - Yakov's Deli
Rasputin's Deli is a lively place, normally a short man is behind the counter serving up orders of beef, brisket, chicken, pork, sausage, fish and just about every other type of meat product you can imagine. Rasputin's is a well known secret to low, medium and high class people of all type. Rasputin has all sorts of customer's coming and going at all times of day or night. He isn't open 24-hrs, but he might as well be.
As you walk into the Deli, next to the door is a small lunch counter which faces out into the street. Opposite to the deli counter are four small booths. Both of these locations serve as eating space for those that choose to grab a quick bite of food or one of Yakov's and Rasputin's famous five meat monster deli sandwiches. Most people don't use these booths, but the lunch counter is constantly being used, as it provides a great people watching vantage.

Galvin
Rasputin
It is early morning on this snowy Saturday. Rasputin has opened the doors, and is making up some items for the breakfast rush to come sooner than later. He whistles a soft Russian song as he chops and cuts. There is a wonderful smell of some sort of stew on the stove. It is mxed with fresh coffe brewing in the coffee maker.
Galvin walks in from the snowy outside covered in some of the heavy flakes. He has his head down to keep out the cold. Once he comes in from outside he brushes off some of the melting snowflakes from his coat. Walking up to counter he smiles softly as he inhales all the smells
Rasputin continues his work, not really paying attention to the new comer in the deli. He continues his work, as he tosses a few slices of thinly sliced bacon the grill. The smell flows up from the hot surface and waifs over the deli. He continues to cook, waiting for the new arrival to speak up.
Galvin walks up to the counter and speaks up to get Rasputin's attention. "Hello?" He asks quietly as he looks over watching the bacon start grilling. He inhales the grilling bacon as he waits for Rasputin to get a chance to serve him.
Rasputin turns around with a grin on his face. He walks over, washes his hands without speaking, then comes back to the counter, "Da, what can I be doink for you? Breakfast perhapsink? Or dinner after a night shiftink perhapsink?"
Galvin shrugs his shoulders as he looks over the food. "Either one would be good I guess. Do you have something spicy? I forgot to sleep last night. I was working on a few things and just lost track of time." He says with a sheepish little smile.
Rasputin nods, "Da, da. I could makink you an omelet with a spicey salsa sauce, it will beink putink hair on your chest, da?" He chuckles, "With some bacon, and uh." He looks around, "Some hash and potatoes? Does that soundink good?"
Galvin nods his head eagerly as he claps his hands together. "Oh yes that sounds good. I'm a big fan of spicy food. With hash and potatoes that just sounds delicious. Do you have some milk as well? Or if no milk maybe some iced tea?" He asks as he adjusts his glasses, pushing them higher up on his face.
Rasputin nods and smiles, "Milks, hot tea, cafe, ice tea, whatever you are likink. Would you like to start with a tall glass of milks? While I start cookink da rests?" He smiles tugs his beard, then goes to wash and get ready to start working as you reply.
Glavin says, "Please a tall glass of milk sounds wonderful. Yes." He says as he sits down at the counter. He watches you with interest obviously intrigued by the process of cooking.
Rasputin goes to work. He pours a tall glass of milk, sets it down before you, then after washing his hands again, goes about making up your order. "So, workink lates again, da? What about that alarm clocks?" He chuckles as he whips up the large omelet and tosses down some fresh bacon. Of course he hands you a few slices of bacon to nibble on while you wait for the rest of your meal. he chops up some of the potatoes, into small one centimeter cubes, he adds in some peppers, spicy and mild for flavor. He tosses in some finely cut beef. It all sizzles and grills, the smell a wondrous medley of smells.
Galvin picks up the glass of milk and takes a quick sip of it. "Well the alarm clock went off, but I didn't really notice it. I was working on something and didn't hear it." He shrugs his shoulders quickly and looks up meakly. Taking the bacon he takes a bite out of it and starts eatting it while he watches as you cook. "If I ever get a shop I think it will have to be next door so I can just come in and get some food."
Rasputin chuckles softly as he continues his craft, his hands moving quickly, but in measured time as if to the beat of a song no one else hears. He looks to a large pot on the stove, opens it, the smell flows over the room. It is a rich, succulent smell of meat, veggies, and broth. He stirs it a moment, then goes back to your breakfast, "Da, I couldink perhaps find a runner, who brinks you food at normal meals," Rasputin trails off and looks to you, "dhough mink wonderinks whens normal meals times are fors you? Da?"
Galvin laughs softly himself as he shakes his head. "Well that is difficult. Some times I eat regularly, but other times I get caught up in a project and forget to eat for some time." He leans up to look at the large pot as he licks his lips quickly. Leaning back in his seat he takes another sip of his milk.
Rasputin finishes up the preparation of the meal, and plates it up for Galvin, "Da, da. I am understadink how dis can be to over focus on the task at hands." He smiles as he slides it in front of you, "And here is the salsa." He puts a s small ramekin of a reddish looking substance, "Da, be carefuls withink da, it can burn one's taste if net carefuls." He grins, "Lookink good, da?"
Galvin nods his head in eager agreement as he dishes out some of the salsa over the plate. "Oh yes looks fantastic." He picks up his fork and takes a bite of the omelette and eats it. "Oh yes nice, and good and spicy." He exclaims as he takes more bites quickly. "Yah just start concentrating and it is hard to think about stuff other then what I'm working on."
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da." Rasputin cleans up, and puts away his prep work having completed it as well. He cleans, washes again and walks back to you, "Are you knowink much abouts securities systems?"
Galvin keeps eatting the food quickly. He starts to sweat a little bit from the heat of the spices but he doesn't seem to mind. He takes the occasional sip of milk so that he doesn't overheat too much. At the question he pauses and looks up. "Well sure I know some. Is it not working properly? Or are you wanting one set up. Either way I'm sure I could help you out."
Rasputin ponders a bit, "I am wonderink about having ones installed, but net know pricink nor qualities. Are you knowink of ones that would see magiks and be protecteds by short as wells?" He tugs his beard a moment, "Isink that possibles?"
Galvin shudders a little bit as he shakes his head. "Uh well I know more about technical things then magical. I mean I could set you up with video cameras and microphones. Also some motion detectors etc. Like I think the motion detectors would work even against like invisible people, but like I said I'm not sure."
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da." He tugs his beard a bit, "Dhough, dis may be too muchink for mink littles shops." He thinks a moment, "Would you be knowink how muches somethink like this would be costink?"
Galvin bites on his lower lip as he thinks about it for a moment. "Well like a motion detector is like 400 credits a video camera is about 200. A simple ultraviolet signaler which is just like two strips and will send a signal anytime someone crosses between them is about 900 credits."
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da." He thinks to himself, "Can you be investigatink on makink it ables to detects magics? Or dis that too difficults?" Rasputin gets the pitcher of milk, "More, da?"
Galvin finishes off the plate and starts grabbing the last few scrapes. "Um well I'm not really sure. I don't know much about magic. I grew up in the Burbs and magic wasn't as common there. You might want to ask someone like Nemain. She is a techno wizard." He lifts up his glass and nods. "Uh sure."
Rasputin pours out a little more milk, filling the glass a new. "Da, da. Would you be willink to investigates this? Seeink what can be dones, perhapsink startink with technologicas, and movink to magics?" He puts away the pitcher, back in the ice box.
Galvin picks up the glass and takes another sip of the milk glass. "Uh sure. I can find some things and what would be the best sort of system. What exactly is it your wanting to set it up for? Your shop here?" He asks as he looks around the shop with a critical eye. "Magic really isn't my expertise but I'll ask Nemain and find out for you."
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, for mink shop. Outside, back, inside. With da, recordinks. Perhapsink a few recordinks, in multiple places, da? Dat makink sense?"
Galvin nods his head in agreement. "Sure I could hav it transmit to like my place as a back up. And maybe have it call your radio or cell phone if something happened. I'll have to think about it, but I'll get back to you about it. I'll ask Nemain about summoning a shield or creature as a defensive mechanism perhaps?"
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. Mink skills lay in foods, and other thinks. Net in the creation of magical devices mixed with technology. Net, even in technological devices, da." He smiles and looks to the food, "Good, da? Howink is the salsa?"
Galvin finishes cleaning off his plate and drinks down some more of the milk from his glass. "Understandable. I'm pretty specialized myself." Turning he looks to the salsa and nods his head eagerly. "Heck yah that was good stuff. I think I could put that on just about everything."
Rasputin chuckles and goes about cleaning up the plate and washing up everything. "Anythink else for your hunger?" Rasputin asks as he finishes up the cleaning.
Galvin shakes his head slowly as he leans back in his chair. "My question though is this place seems to be open twenty four hours a day, so why do you need a security system? Or is this in case you get robbed?"
Rasputin shrugs and tugs his beard, "Da, justink case somethink happens here, da. Precautions, more dhan anythink." He smiles , "And mink not always opens. Sometimks I'm aways, or we are closed. Da."
Galvin nods his head slowly in agreement as he adjusts his glasses. "Of course. It is much better to be safe then sorry. I'll see what I can come up with. I should have something to drawn up for you soon. As soon as I can talk to Nemain about it."
Rasputin nods, "Da." He tugs his beard, "Da, I wantink it to be smalls. So most do net know they are being watched. So dis unintrusive, da."
"Oh sure. I can get mini cameras that are basicly invisible and everthing else can be unintrusive." Galvin says with a slow nod as he takes out a notebook and a pencil. He starts taking notes as he looks around slowly at the shop. "I'll get right on it Rasputin."
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. So, da, are you thinkink, for your types of systems, net mores than 10,000 credits?" He says softly, "Da?"
Galvin adjusts his glasses as he nods his head slowly. "Sure I think I can put something together for that. I'm not sure about the magic stuff yet, so I am hesitant to quote you a price. The technology isn't that expensive though.
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. Wellink, perhaps we should investigates technological first, da? Or both, net know. Lookink into its, da?" He smiles and tugs his beard.
"Yes the technology will be dead easy to set up. I can do that in a few days. Have to see what Nemain thinks about the magic aspect. I'll get back to you in a few days." Galvin says as he finishes taking notes and puts the notebook back into his pocket.
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. Mink thinkink mink needs to plans another trips to hunts dino, to get another good flux of monies for various plans." He tugs his beard, "Da, mink have to be thinkink such possibilities. Dhough, net surink." He shrugs a bit, "So, besides workink on Deli shop securities, what else mink you be workin on?"
Galvin's eyes open wide at the mention of hunting dinos. "Oh you hunt dinosaurs? How does that make money. Sounds pretty dangerous. But uh I'll make sure your shop is secure if you need to leave. Uh I've been looking at some weapon designs and maybe a design for a forcefield. I'll also finally moving in to an apartment. I need to make some modifications to my ion pistol. Maybe my armor too. But really I need to look for a way to make some credits I guess."
Rasputin nods slowly and tugs his beard,, "Da, da. Manies buy their meats, hides, bones, all parts really. Dis good work, but as you are sayink dangerious. Worths the risk, dhough fars." He smiles a bit, "Havink you looked into hirink on to the various stores which repair weapons and the like?" He thinks a moment, "Cali's, dis it still opens? Dhey migthink have works."
Galvin adjusts his glasses while nodding his head. "Ah ok I can understand that. I'm guessing they are useful in several ways. Hmmm. Uh well I haven't really done that yet. I think a guy named Rufus is running that shop. I'm not sure if I want to work for someone yet." He says with a shrug of his shoulders.
Rasputin nods slowly and tugs his beard, "Da, da." He says nothing more as he thinks to himself about the topics at hand.
"Alright Rasputin. I'll get back to you in a few days. Thanks again for the food. What do I owe you?" Galvin asks as he fishes out some credits from one of his many pockets.
Rasputin grins, "Da, da. How aboutink, 7 credits, da?" He smiles a bit, and looks around, "Dhat seemink fair?"
Galvin flips through the bills and pulls out a ten and a five bill and lays them on the counter. "More then fair Rasputin. You really make the best food in the city. I'll get back to you soon."
Rasputin chuckle, takes the cash and puts it in the register, "Da, dhank yous." He smiles and goes about his work, as a few more people have shown up now for breakfast.
