Mar 03 110 PA Shotgun shogun
From Chronicles
Rasputin walks up to the range, he is in his body armor, helmet off. He has two Shotguns in his back sheaths, as well as a duffel bag which appears really full. He looks around to try and find Valeriya for her lesson.
Valeriya is here already, practicing in the first booth with her c-5. Nearly a shotgun in itself she fires the range's practice rounds at the dummies ahead with a measure of expertise. Emptying five shots in short order. This gives her pause to turn around and spot Rasputin with a wave.
Rasputin nods and makes his way to Valeriya, "Da, goodink mornink Valeriya!" He says, unslinging his duffel bag. He eyes the C-5 and thinks a moment, "Dis dhat da Triax pump pistol?" He says as he pulls out a few shot guns from his duffel bag. BA few pulls out several double-barrel shotguns, and an odd drum feed shotgun of some sort.
"Goodink Mornink." Valeriya impersonates with a nod to greet the short Russian. She’s quick to wave him forward into her booth for the unloading of the arsenal. "Um no, its the CS knockoff. You can check it out if you want." She answers before putting it down on the counter. She then starts taking in the various types of shotgun.
Rasputin nods, "Net, mink knowink dhat one." He grins a bit, "Dhough, mink prefer da Triax version." He chuckles, "Perhaps mink likink NGR better, mink a little prejudice." He grins, and lays down the shot guns, "Dhough, havink you handled shotgun at all befores?" He points to the different types, "MInk has double barrel and semi-auto version."
"I've held a few at the stores, getting a feel for the weight and handling in debating to learn. But never fired one." Valeriya answers with a shake of her head before she reaches to select a fairly modern looking pump action.
Rasputin nods, "Da, da. Dis two are beink a NG-11S over-under, dis is beink a Newton NTI-05A, and dhese are both double barrels side-by-side. Buttink dhey are TW and makical. Dery good all." He nods, "Firstink, let me showink you how to fieldink strip each one, da? Dis goodink place, dhen we will go over operation, da?" He pauses and looks at Valeriya for a moment, "Dis OK?"
Valeriya starts nodding and then realizes she's going to learn how to field strip and clean four or five different types of shotgun. "This is going to take a bit." She concludes before grabbing most of the gear to move over to a table and free up the booth for another shooter. "Probably best to start here then."
Rasputin nods and helps moving things over. Rasputin starts showing you how to take apart the over-under, and side-by-side. Then the semi-automatic. You both run through it a few times, then he has you do it once or twice. It isn't difficult at all once you get the hang of it. After about 90 minutes, it is kind of solidified. "Now, lets lookink at ammo." He puts the guns safely to the side, and starts to put down rounds. "Dhese are buckshot, dis is a slug," After a moment he pulls out another one, "Dhese are silver." He hands dhem to you, "All shoot a little different, da." He grins, "Likink silver for many thinks."
Much of it is similar to the c-5 and other handguns so Valeriya does pick it up fairly quickly. She only shows minor confusion on the lever action model, finding its mechanics a bit awkward in comparison to the others. Moving on she looks to the different colored plastic cartridges, picking up each one to get a feel for the weight and composition of the shot type with a shake.
Rasputin nods slowly, "Mink didn't brinkink any of da scary ones. Mink can be gettink explosive fragmentation and plasma typink rounds. Dery diverseink, da." He smiles, "Mink usink manies of dhem." Rasputin smiles, "So, wanttink to be tryink to fire some of dhese now?"
Valeriya reaches into her pocket for one of her c-5 rounds for comparison and is impressed by the similarity in size and weight between the two. She then puts it back with a nod to Rasputin at the offer. "Sure, sounds like fun."
Rasputin nods, "Good, good." He takes each weapon back to the booth and then loads up some buckshot into both NG-11S sawed off over-unders. "Firstink mink shoot, dhen you. Justtink to be gettink feel of weapon." He pushes the pigeon button and two clay pigeons fly up. He fires quickly, the first shot misses the second shot hits. He shrugs, "Da, kind of likink dhat." He levels it down range in a safe direction and motions for you to look, "Dis is shortink, so net goodink for dhis. But still can be workink. You sight down barrel, through small peep site on end, da." He hands you the loaded one, and motions for you to try.
"No problem." Valeriya states confidently, accepting the rifle and taking a moment to reacquaint herself with it. She gets really well acquainted when it suddenly goes off. Sure scaring both her and Rasputin. But luckily she has sense and always had the weapon pointed safely down range. "Oops, that would be the trigger." She mutters sheepishly before fully recovering. At which point she takes a more confident stance and aim then triggers the pigeon.
Rasputin nods, without even smiling at all, "Dis OK. Dery hard at first," He looks at his side by sides, "Here, lettink tryink dis one." He picks up one that is a bit longer, more of a 20" barrel rather than a very short 12" barrel. "This, fires dery similiar, buttink you sight stright down grove between barrels." He resets the pigeon thrower, and loads the shotgun. "Please, tryink again. Dhen we will see how to alter thinks a bit if needink."
Valeriya shakes her head to the thrower, accepting the alternative weapon. "I don’t know about you. but with me I found it easier to learn to shoot targets that aren’t moving first." She explains before turning the barrel to one of the range dummies instead and firing away.
Rasputin claps his hands, "Da, da. Goodink point." He chuckles, "Sorries, mink father taughtink me with pigeons. Net static targets." He shakes his head, "Dery goodink point. You gettink feel for recoil of shotgun?" He looks at you and your shoulder, "Dis much more dhan energy weapons, da."
Valeriya nods with a measure of satisfaction as her pellets plaster one side of the dummy. Not a direct hit but a hit none the less. She then flexes her arm slightly a Rasputin's question. "Its not too bad, the c-5 has a big kick as well, you have to lock your elbow to shoot it well." She answers with a shrug. But considering Valeriya's size and well muscled frame, no real surprise she can absorb the recoil from such a weapon.
Rasputin nods, "Da, da. Lets try a little different ammo," He loads in a few slugs, "Dhese don't scatter da. Dhey are more like normal bullets or laser blasts." He says and points at the static targets, "Dhey punch nicink holes and kick a bittink more dhan da buck shot." He takes up the rifle himself aims, and pulls off two quick shots. The first blows a nice chunk into the target, the second blows a much larger whole in the dead center. He smiles but shrugs too, dhen reloads. "Here, you tryink."
Valeriya accepts the weapon more carefully this time and more confidently as well. She puts the butt up to her shoulder, still a bit clumsy with the obviously new handling and takes a moment to carefully aim at her dummy before taking a single shot. And regardless of the result, carefully aims again before taking the second.
Rasputin watches the line up and nods slowly as he stands behind you to the left. He watches your trigger pull and then the roar of the shotgun and followed by another roar. He nods, "Da, good, good." He smiles as two more solid holes appear in the down range target, "Da, da. Seeink, dhat is net hard da? Buttink a bittink more kick, da?"
Valeriya nods. "A bit more, but thanks to your warning I was prepared for it." She says in thanks before handing the rifle back to Rasputin. "But I think I know enough now to practice on my own a bit. So I'll use one of the ranges guns and let you get back to the deli before the lunch rush hits. Ok?"
Rasputin nods, "Da, da. OK. Mink would loanink you dis one if you like? Da?"
"Sure, I appreciate that." Valeriya says, gladly accepting the rifle and simple of trust she'll take good care of it.
Rasputin nods, "Da, goodink. You can gettink rounds here, da."
