Welcome to Rifts: Chronicles of Kingsdale

A MUSH set in the popular RPG of Rifts. A cyberpunk game set some time after the initial collapse of civilization, magic and technology flourish and compete. North America is dominated by the Coalition States, human supremacists who believe that the only way to guarantee the safety of mankind is the complete destruction of everything non-human or magic.

The MUSH itself is set in the city of Kingsdale an oasis of personal liberty, science and racial tolerance that is surrounded on three sides by the Coalition. Chronicles promises intricate and carefully woven story and many opportunities for personal development and advancement. In-character politics, investigation, research and experimentation are not just encouraged, but essential and the administration pride themselves on creating an environment where role-play is the only essential 'ability'. The careful, quiet scientist is able to take on just as much of a role in our plots as the hulking warrior or the shifty mage. At Chronicles, brains count for as much as brawn.

Feel the tingle along your spine as a the shadow of a vampire slips past in the darkness. Soar a thousand meters over monster-laden forests in your flying power armor, ever alert for threats to the helpless people far below. Experience the power of magic as you open yourself to a ley line. Know fear as you stare into the cold, unblinking mechanical eyes of a full conversion cyborg. Discover that friendship is not diminished by race, creed, or profession. Feel pride as you stand for one of the few bastions of 'good' that remains in North America. Above all, feel liberated as you let your imagination run free.

Kingsdale

Kingsdale has seen an influx of both mercenaries, companies and individuals, either using the city as a stepping stone to reach the Tolkeen front or looking to secure paying contracts for various activities of a combative nature in the area.

  • Gang Activities
Currently the Clash are on edge, having just been bombed in a plot by a rogue Vigilantes member. He has since turned up dead, and those PCs implicated in the plot were cleared by way of a radio broadcast.
  • Vanishing PCs
Alistair and Caliopa vanished, along with the rifter, on a trip to Madhaven. Alistair has since been seen around town, but refuses to explain their location, or give further information except that they are safe and well.
  • Tolkeen Refugees
Though the Refugee camp has remained active outside of the city, various reports including notes from Vixen's View have revealed that the refugees have now settled into place in the North Dregs. There have been more comings and goings through the city and some of the refugees have started making appearances around the city proper.

However, it seems the numbers of refugees are growing faster than most have anticipated. Lots of numbers and counts are being tossed about, but many hover about the four thousand range. Some, however, have managed to buy themselves a place in the city, while the majority have made do with the camp and what help they might receive. Some of the more affluent have contributed to the plight of their fellow Tolkeenites, but most either haven't the resources or the desire to do so.

If the flow continues at this rate, in as little as 3 months there could be nearly 6000 people flowing into the city fleeing this horrid conflict.
Some rumours suggest that they are stealing from local farmers but there seems to be little evidence to back this theory up.
Laramy
A Coalition presence remains in the area and is a bit picky about who comes and who goes. Most caravans avoid the area and rumors of disappearances aren't entirely uncommon.
