Welcome to Rifts: Chronicles of Kingsdale
|
| A MUSH set in the popular RPG of Rifts. A cyberpunk game set some time after the initial collapse of civilization, magic and technology flourish and compete. North America is dominated by the Coalition States, human supremacists who believe that the only way to guarantee the safety of mankind is the complete destruction of everything non-human or magic.
The MUSH itself is set in the city of Kingsdale an oasis of personal liberty, science and racial tolerance that is surrounded on three sides by the Coalition. Chronicles promises intricate and carefully woven story and many opportunities for personal development and advancement. In-character politics, investigation, research and experimentation are not just encouraged, but essential and the administration pride themselves on creating an environment where role-play is the only essential 'ability'. The careful, quiet scientist is able to take on just as much of a role in our plots as the hulking warrior or the shifty mage. At Chronicles, brains count for as much as brawn.
Feel the tingle along your spine as a the shadow of a vampire slips past in the darkness. Soar a thousand meters over monster-laden forests in your flying power armor, ever alert for threats to the helpless people far below. Experience the power of magic as you open yourself to a ley line. Know fear as you stare into the cold, unblinking mechanical eyes of a full conversion cyborg. Discover that friendship is not diminished by race, creed, or profession. Feel pride as you stand for one of the few bastions of 'good' that remains in North America. Above all, feel liberated as you let your imagination run free.

Kingsdale
Kingsdale has seen an influx of both mercenaries, companies and individuals, either using the city as a stepping stone to reach the Tolkeen front or looking to secure paying contracts for various activities of a combative nature in the area. Over recent years, Kingsdale has been surprisingly stable. Mages, 'Borgs, psychics and all manner of creatures living side-by-side in what harmony could be found. With conflicts at Tolkeen and Free Quebec, added to various mercenary and other duties always around, few people are at a loss for adventure or a chance at fame.
- Gang Activities
The Family continues to consolidate their holdings in the North Dregs, with the Vigilantes largely looking after the local refugees. Clash has been silent for a long time, having suffered greatly in a war of their own making. The refugees that had collected from Tolkeen gained enough ground, strength and notoriety that their own compound is now a symbol of the 'Dregs and a fourth power. They are in a heated conflict with the Family regarding ownership of their land, a conflict that has led to one three-day battle which ended with a Family being defeat. A large vampire organization was recently wiped out of the club now known as Lady Luck, previously the Ivory Lady.
- Tolkeen
When Tolkeen declared victory, it appeared sure. Coalition forces withdrew from many areas, pulling out of Laramy almost completely to consolidate power at Whykin, east of Kingsdale. That city has seen significant regional activity under General Rheevus. However, the news of Tolkeen's victory was premature. At the end of August, 109 PA, the city was defeated, overrun and razed to the ground by Coalition forces. Some people in Kingsdale are awaiting an onslaught of refugees after the blitzkrieg victory. The refugee compound, which had been all but drained of refugees, would possibly be completely overwhelmed by new outcasts, should such numbers have survived the battle. Indeed, depending unknown circumstances the entire city of Kingsdale might not be enough. Only time will tell.
Laramy A small town west of Kingsdale, Laramy has been considered for Coalition support numerous times. But every time have been politely rejected by the villagers. Recent developments though have strained trade between Laramy and CS friendly Whykin. Diplomatic efforts to correct this have resulted in CS patrols to protect traders traveling between the two locations and thus, past Kingsdale.
ArcadiaRoughly one-hundred and fifty miles to the northeast, roughly midway between Kingsdale and the Coalition’s St. Louis Devil’s Gate Facility, a mining region known as Arcadia has been under assault by supernatural creatures for unknown reasons. Coalition soldiers out of Whykin arrived to defend teh area, and recently a large unit of experienced Coalition troops bombed and destroyed the supernatural attack. The region has been quiet since then, though Rheevus has placed a rather large occupation contingent in the area. With little news going in and coming out of the mining town, not much is known. However, there seem to be few negative concerns yet posed. Why the Coalition has taken such an interest is unknown.
