General

Ley Lines have the following affects on Magical or Psionic based creatures:

Mages and Psionicsts both gain 50% more Duration and Range on their spells/abilities when standing in or within 2 miles of a Ley Line or Nexus.

Mages can draw PPE at a rate of 20 PPE per round up to their level x 20 in a given 12 hour period from a Ley Line. To accomplish this, the Mage must be standing in or otherwise be physically touching the Ley Line.

Mages can draw PPE at the rate of 40 PPE per round up to their level x 40 in a given 12 hour period from a Nexus. Again, to accomplish this the Mage must be standing in or otherwise be physically touching the Nexus.

By using an external sources of P.P.E., such as a Ley Line, a Mage can absorb up to their PE x 15 additional P.P.E. over their normal limit at any one time, they must spend all of this additional PPE within 1 hour per character level.

Any additional amount of P.P.E. over the character's normal P.P.E. value after this time has elapsed will cause the player to take 1D6 HP per melee round there after until it is expended or the character dies.

All other items, are as the RUE states on page 186. Keep in mind the other special effects require a Ley Line Nexus.

Kingsdale has two well known about Ley Lines. There may be others, but no others are as known or as visible in the city.

Ley Lines in Kingsdale

The Guild Line The first runs through the south-west corner of the city, over the Magic Sector. It cuts this section of the city in half, crossing at a 45 degree angle through the city. This ley line runs directly over the top of the well known Guild Monolith. It runs approximately 200 to 300 feet above the surface of city. The Guild takes great care in ensuring that nothing negative happens to the city, via this Ley Line. Going as far as having active personnel watching it 24 hours a day. It is said that this is one of the newly initiated mages' duty. Mages who are not members of The Guild will find it possible to fly up and absorb magical energy from it, but will be strongly discouraged from doing so and attempting rituals using this Ley Line in the city will bring quick and hostile responses. Or within 10 miles of the city for that matter.

City Hall and Library The second makes an U shape through the center of town connecting the top of City Hall and the Library. It comes in from the west side of the city, and leaves through the west side of the city. Not much is known about this Ley Line, as it actually only contacts either of these buildings through very tall spiral towers and antennas. It is thought that they power the very powerful magic which has been enchanted into both of these buildings. While the Guild pays little attention to these Ley Lines directly, the KDPD Magic Squad pay close attention to them and are frequently patroling them. If one has not recieved permission to do anything save fly upon them, they will get a stern talking to, if not shot at. The Magic Squad tends to error on the side of 'protect first' and 'ask questions later' when it comes to this Ley Line.

Kingsdale Nexu Fortress If you follow both the Guild Ley Line and the City Hall/Library Ley Lines, you will find they are 2 of 6 that form a small Nexus a little over 2 miles east of the City. In the early days of Kingsdale, this Nexus caused a great deal of grief and mischief. To that end, the Kingsdale MIlitary has placed a small heavily fortified fortress around it with an unspecific number of magical and psichially enabled guards. They are kept on site and on guard 24/7. Not only do they protect the world from what may come out, but they also require a formal access form from a Kingsdale official to allow access to the Nexus. Their patrols range the entire 2 miles between the city and the Nexus, as well as 1 mile in all directions. Having fought of a number of incurasions already, these are some of the most hardened veterens of the Kingsdale Magic Milita.

Important Note: As indicated above, drawing PPE from the Ley Lines in Kingsdale is possible but it will get a person noticed very quickly. Players interested in attempting to draw PPE from the Ley Lines within Kingsdale city or the immediate area are required to notifying the staff. There are always consequences of one kind or another for performing this activity. The least that might happen is a KDPD Magic Squad patrol shows up or the Guild sends a wizard out to have a talking to you. The worst is shot on sight for repeat offenders.
