RIVER WALK

Galvin is walking around looking for someone. He has been going around the city for a while. After making his way to the river walk he finally manages to spot the person he was trying to find. "Hi there Pavel?" He asks in Euro once he sees the large man.

The man quirks up quickly hearing not just a language that he understands, but a language that he can speak! Galvin is easily spotted, and Pavel replies in the appropriate words - and loud, boisterous enthusiasm. << Galvin! How are you?! It's a beautiful day, isn't it? Wonderful area this is. The pretty part of this ugly city. I'll have to spend time over here. Here and the park. How about you, my new friend? What brings you around? >>

Galvin flashes Pavel a quick smile as he walks over next to the other man. He looks around at Pavel's question before answering. <<Yah I guess it is nice out. I'm not really an outdoors person. I was looking for you. I was wondering about what you can do to metals and other substances.>>

<< Metal? Hah! I can do just about anything with metal. I can't make anything complex, but I can make the parts for complex things, if someone else is around to assemble them. Not to brag - or maybe yes to brag - but truly.. if it's based on metal, I can probably make it. I'm a peculiar blacksmith, Galvin. >> Pavel looks the other fellow up and down. << You're very complex, and I am very simple. But in the end, we both do our jobs, right?! >> A playful *SLAP* on the other man's shoulder follows. << Do you need something, or are you just curious about the new man in town? >>

<<Well I am looking to build a pretty good sized garage where I can do repairs and what not. Anyways I can't afford to make it very durable, but I was hoping that we could put on some plating and turn some of the tools into more enduring materials. Do you have to make the metals or can you just do stuff to them?>> Galvin asks while he looks out over the river.

Pavel pauses to consider various options. << Plating for a large building? That would be a big job for most. Even for me, large buildings are big jobs. But it could be done. Just *how* enduring a material are you looking for? Regular steel, or the reinforced heavy plate? >>

<<Well I would want it to stand up to at least a couple blasts of laser fire or other mishaps that can happen. I would also like my cranes to be powerful enough to bare lots of weight. Are you able to do that? Could you put strong plate all around the building and on the roof. Perhaps the floors as well could be made out of strong plate." Galvin muses while he rubs his chin.

Pavel looks confident and wary at the same time. << I can do all of that, yes. But that's a big job. I can't just show up and install it, either, I need to shape it correctly, particularly the chains and such. The cranes? I could make the metal for you, I could even shape them into the correct components. But I'm afraid that I'm not very good when it comes to putting your high tech things together. A whole building? Walls, floor, machinery...>> The large man allows his tone to trail off. << I can make what you need, yes, as long as there is someone to assemble the complicated pieces. It will be expensive, I'm afraid. That's not just the cost of my time and labor, that's the cost of the metal itself, the reinforced stuff. I looked into it, and it costs just a little less than 3,000 credits per ten pounds of material, which adds up to a lot pretty quickly. That would be the fastest way to do it. If you have time, I can change regular sheet metal to what you need, but I'm still not terribly powerful, so it would take some time to fix up that much metal. But like I said, if you have the time. Plus... >> Pavel's deep voice trails off, then comes up loud and boisterous again. << I've already done a bit of advertising making a little knife for a tiny girl. Maybe I could do some of your shop for free in return for advertising, but still my time and effort probably deserves some monetary recognition, after all, I'm going to need to buy metal for other people in the future who also need my services. Does all of this make sense? >>

<<Oh you would have to forge everything huh? Well I guess that won't work. Maybe we can put a few plates here and there, but that is much more expensive then I thought it would be.>> Galvin shrugs his shoulders briefly before he adjusts his glasses with a finger. <<Well I can find scrap metal sheeting plating for you. I mean the cranes will already be made. I don't really have much in they way of a lot of credits. I could give you lots of work space perhaps.>>

Pavel smiles. << I built myself a nice forge out side of town, over the agricultural way. Nice warm cave to live in and everything, so I don't need much space. I appreciate it though. You know... I'm really not advertising this, because this tends to be a problem among my kind. But if you can afford standard sheet plate - in good condition - and have time on your hands, not too worried about slapping everything on your place in a week... I can fix you up. Instead of 3,000 credits per ten pounds, more like 30 credits per ten pounds, and in the end, it'll take those same laser hits that you were talking about. >> The big man rolls his big shoulders and adds, << But it would take much longer. I'm still a fairly new kuznya. Plus yes... I still need money. We all have costs just to survive. I wouldn't scalp you, though. So at the moment, my advice? Get a good appraiser to look over your plans and find out how much plate you'd need for your armor, pistons, whatever, then figure out if you can afford just the base price. Then get back to me to work out a deal? >>

<<Hmm well I have to think about it. Oh well there is no rush on it. I haven't built the garage yet. I'll get back to you once I have everything in place. I'll see how much I can afford.>> Galvin smiles and pats Pavel on the back. <<Thank you for answering my questions. I appreciate it. I'll get back to you once I am up and running.>>

Pavel smiles and whaps Galvin back on the shoulder. Possibly a little too hard, but in his defense, it's hard not to be too hard. << It's okay. Sounds like a big job that you're already into pretty far. If you need to find me and I'm not out here around town, just head out down the east trail toward the farms. There's a large meadow just to the south. Push through a few trees, and there I'll be. Can't miss it. But hey, enjoy the rest of your day, Galvin. >> With that, the large man starts moving down the River Walk again, chatting up potentially random people as he goes - particularly the attractive ladies of various species.
