Knight's Hospital - Laboratory

The following morning and Maya's paperwork is caught up. Back to the lab. She has looked in on her patients, issued more orders and then returned to the laboratory. At this moment, she is staring at a blood result, her forehead wrinkled in thought before she reaches for a large tome, bending her head over the page she selects. A quick comparison and she reaches for the phone.

"Then get her!" comes a voice, tension filled, from the other side of the door. Something knocks against it, lightly, and then a guards voice, rasied and irritated, "She's busy, though if you want we should make your case more urgent.." he stops, the tell-tale sign of an energy weapon primed for use can be heard...

Maya looks up, her forehead wrinkling as she puts the phone down. She rises to her feet, slipping on her white coat before she answers the door. "Can I help?" Her own voice is low and calm, her smile professional and cool. Her gaze flicks between the two combatants questioningly.

Despite growing anger on Ema's part, her distressed features are hard to miss. She's dressed as non-threatening as she ever does, a knee length skirt and a T-shirt, and eyes the guard a moment more before her attention moves back to the little woman before her, "Listen, you obviously know who I am, and I know what you must think.." eyes flicker towards the guard, "But I need to see Leo. I'm not sure what he said, but i'm not a threat..." she sighs, "Not to him, or any of you." eyes move to one of the guards, and one might think that he might be exempt from this.

Maya's response is slow and measured. "Come with me and talk about this." She replies, giving the guard a nod, and a quick smile of reassurance. "Thank you, I will let you know if I need you." She turns, leading the way back into her lab and taking a seat at her desk, offering Emayn the other seat. She folds her hands neatly on the desk, giving the woman time to seat herself. "I can't let you see Leonard. He is injured and needs to rest."

"I know...believe me I know. And I can help, and thats why I'm here." her words are rushes, eyes almost pleading as she takes a deep breath as she sits, "I know I'm terrible person, but I want to make this one thing right. Have a guard put a gun to my head, if i twitch in a way you don't like, have him pull the trigger."

Maya's hazel eyes are grave as she listens to the woman opposite. "Help how precisely?" She questions, before she leans back in the chair, her fingers moving a pen lightly between them. "I don't think we need to get into the morals of the situation, do you? Needless to say, his partner is not happy at the idea of you being allowed near him, and I have to agree that it may delay recovery."

Another deep, calming breath, eyes closing as she lets it out slowly, "All of my gifts aren't geared to some evil twisted purpose. I can heal his body faster than any sort of medicine or rest, with no risk." She meets your eyes with her own, her sincerity seems, well, sincere, "You can read me, and I'll give you permission to do so, I will be quick, and I won't talk or agitate. Let me do this, and i'll be out of their hair for good. My word."

Maya's watches Emayn thoughtfully before she replies. "I will put it to him. It is the patient's choice, always. Until I do, you cannot enter his room and if you make a drama in the corridors, I'll have you removed from the hospital, as I would anyone who did so." Her voice is crisp and cool, professional. "If Leonard agrees to this, you will have guards in the room with you, and I will observe."

Ema nods, "Thats more than fair," she says with an outrageous amount of meekness, "Thank you." she adds, a slight bit of relief showing in her face as you agree to at least try. She sits, hands in her lap, fingers folded as she awaits the verdict.

Maya rises from the chair, indictating that Emayn should follow her with a gesture of her hand. She pauses beside the nursing station outside Leonard's bedroom. "Wait here." She instructs the other woman before she walks in to the room, closing the door behind her. "Leonard. How are you feeling?" She moves to his bedside, the clipboard of his notes in her hand, her gaze taking in his condition.

Despite the prior reduction in sedatives(and, potentially, painkillers), Leonard has taken to the doctor's advice. He is currently asleep in the partially-reclined bed, with Vixen joining him in slumber from the chair pulled next to the bed. The only one currently awake, other than staff, is one that perhaps should not be present. Edgar, Leonard's fine feathered friend, is perched upon the uplifted, articulated frame of the bed. The man's sleep is comparatively light, however, and once awakened, offers Maya a smile that is much more energetic than the afternoon before. "Morning. I feel better. He does look better, as well, with the facial swelling already receded. Even the most of the bruising seems surprisingly subdued.

Maya keeps her voice down to avoid waking the sleeping Vixen. "Good." She repeats a few of the tests, shining her light in his eyes before she speaks again. "Leonard, Emayn is outside the door. She wishes to see you and believes she can heal you. I have said this is your choice." Her voice is neutral, professional, stopping then to gain his response. As she waits, she makes a note of the results of his tests. "I have told her that the hospital would allow it if you choose to do this, but that both a guard and myself would be here."

Leonard's brows lift over a suddenly mixed countenace, with surprise the most evident. He considers a long moment before giving a quiet reply. "I don't doubt that she could do so. It's the why that I'm uncertain of..." A glance is spared to the dozing Vixen before he continues. "By all means, she's welcome. I suggest we not be loud, though, for everyone's sake."

Maya gives Leonard a steady assessing look before she nods, moving to the door. "Emayn, you can come in and do this. You must be quiet, and if I see any sign of distress in my patient, I will have you removed. Are you clear on this?" Maya's expression is grave, her eyes steady on the other woman. "No drama, just healing."

Ema stands, her hands flexing as she wipes them on her skirt, an odd, smoothing gesture. She looks at Maya with her large almost black eyes and nods, "My word, no drama." she echos as she walks forward into the room, sliding by the doctor. Her body language is as submissive as its ever been as her eyes dance around the room, her instinct to know whats in a room too strong to deny. She approaches Leo and nods at him, her expression almost neutral, though a hint of embarrassment shows through. She stands at the side of the bed, looking over her shoulder at Maya before her attention turns to Leo, "This will only take a minute." she says softly, "May I touch your hand?" All business.

Leonard has witnessed Ema in a quasi-lucid moment or two in the past, but the embarassment is new insofar that it doesn't immediately shift to something more ...viscerally expressive. Whether he's making a careful study of this or merely considering her question, he regards her for several moments before giving his reply. "Only if it will still be attached when you're finished with it." The jab is infinitely more gentle than the ones that put him here, and his arm is already lifting to put the hand in offered, easy reach. There's even a curl tugging at the corners of his mouth.

Maya watches closely, her hazel eyes narrowed, sharp gaze following Emayn's every movement. The protective instinct of the doctor is obvious and she stands ready to intervene. Maya stands at the side of Leonard's bed, watching Emayn on the other side, with Leonard lying between them. In the door way, a guard waits.

Ema offers a nod, no words, her fingers slipping underneath his hand, moving along his palm as her eyes close. She sits their, motionless, breathing slowly and evenly. A minute passes, and she doesn't move, though her hand begins to feel warmer, soothing and pleasant. Another minute goes by, and true to her word, Leo begins to heal, slowly at first, his skin knitting back together, bruises fading. She stands their, entranced, oblivious.

Even with lowered voices, its inevitable that Vixen's enhanced hearing will get her up. A late night, perhaps, is what kept her down this long, but she breathes in deeply as she finally crest the lip of wakefulness. Eyes remaining closed a few moments before the presence of voices prompts them to snap open. The orientation of her head bringing Maya into focus first. A simple little greeting smile offered before her head turns towards Leo. Which brings Ema into focus as a consequence. She jerks upright in a moment, groggy making her fumble at her coat, which is hung on the back of the chair. Sadly, her gun is still being held by the guards. She's elected to sleep in her armor, which her body complains softly about behind her sudden moment of panic.

Despite the affable nonchalance, there is an initial moment of trepidation on Leonard's part at the initial contact of Ema's hand on his. It passes almost immediately, primarily due to the lack of anything apparent. Then the warmth relaxes him while contusions fade and tissues mend, the only visible results being upon his face as it returns to normal. Well, Leonard normal, anyway. His relaxation is not so deep that the sudden rustling of armor goes unnoticed, however. "Vix, it's alright." She's already awake, but the words are still soft.

Maya's gaze on Emayn's movements, Vixen's waking is taken in a moment slower than it could be. "It is fine, Vixen, she isn't hurting him. This is his choice to allow her to heal him." Her voice is calm and she returns her gaze to the pair, hazel eyes narrowed. The vigilance is not relaxed, despite the healing wounds.

Entranced, Ema doesn't hear what's going on around here, the soft voices around her not enough to pull her away from the task at hand. Another wave of warmth spreads then as her focus continues, the external wounds on Leo disapearing completely now, leaving only the internal, which are beyond this basic ability. Her eyes flutter open, and its hard to miss the face of Vixen. A step back is taken, Leo's hand sliding from hers, and she turns, "Thank you." soft words spoken to Maya.

Vixen stops fumbling after a moment, conscious thought catching up through groggy reaction. Some relaxation comes then, though not too much. The words offered her by Maya and Leo don't stay her from stating, "I thought we agreed to keep her out of here." Firm words fired Maya's way before she shifts her attention towards Emayn, suspicion not at all hidden. She's not actually looked closely at Leo yet as she remains tense at his side.

"Thank you." Leonard's words of gratitude are primarily to the slightly withdrawing Emayn, although Maya is also included, by proximity or default. Now his head turns Vixenwards to offer her both his other hand, which is nearest, and a softly firm smile. "Not now, Vix. Please?" A brow arches slightly with the last.

"We had, but this is Leonard's choice and I don't have the right to override my patient's decision, Vixen." Maya's voice is soothing, her forehead wrinkling, as she gives Emayn a nod turning to lead the woman out of the room. "Thank you for keeping within our boundaries, Emayn." The comment is spoken softly, with a flicker of a smile.

A nod is given, Ema seeking to minimize her footprint in this situation, trying very much to keep drama to a minimum. Her face looks oddly sad as she passes the small doctor, her hand reaching out past the guard, who gets a glare as she reaches out for the handle, preparing to exit the Room.

Vixen is obviously displeased with the situation and can't seem to leave well enough alone. Though she keeps it simple, at least. "Don't you hurt him again," she tells Ema firmly, voice cool. She then turns her attention back to Leo, who seems better, which feeds her confusion a bit. "What happened?" Asked as she takes the offered hand, her eyes roaming him intently as she awaits an answer.

The cool ultimatum is expected, if not relished, but Leonard didn't really expect anything better, all things considered. "She was healing rather than hurting." A pleasant, if simple, explanation of what occurred, justified by the fact that his faces looks as good as it had before all of the fisticuffs. His focus then swivels to the pair moving to exit, although he says nothing further. The 'no drama' rule is in effect, afterall.

The guard steps back to allow Emayn to leave peacefully. Maya remains at the end of Leonard's bed, examining him slowly with assessing eyes. "If that is as healed as I think, you can be released home today." She speaks coolly, calmly, before she steps forward to examine him more closely.

Ema's eyes close, her jaw line pulsing as fights back words. Her hesitation is brief though, and she has the door open, pushing at the guard causing him to step to the side as she hastens her step though the opening, leaving while her word is still intact.

Vixen frowns faintly, glancing after Ema a moment before she returns her attention to Leo again. "As long as that's the only thing she did," she murmurs, her expression doubtful. "Sorry Leo, but her is the last thing I wanted to wake to right now. Especially when I wasn't expecting she'd be around." Though as Maya starts inspecting him, she falls silent.

Leonard does seem all for the better and without discomfort, although his knees might still be a tad swollen. "Not to sound ungrateful to you services nor bedside manner, Maya, but that is some of the better news that I've heard today." After waiting for more penlight in the eyes, he nods to Vixen. "I wasn't expecting her, either, but she did come, and of her own accord. I'm not entirely sure what that means in all of this, but it was genuine."

Maya steps back from the bed, her hands slipping into her white coat's pockets to draw out some alcohol gel which she applies to her hands. A quick professional smile and she speaks softly, "Leonard, I'm going to release you from the hospital. You take it easy, and don't take part in anything strenuous over the next week or so. Take painkillers as needed." She reaches out for the chart, signing it and handing it to a nearby nurse. "You can go when you wish."

Vixen purses her lips. "Maybe, maybe not. I ain't letting her slide on putting you in here in the first place, just cause she decided to speed things up a bit," Vixen states. "Just like you had to show something real for me, she's got to show something real before I relax." She does seem somewhat relieved when Maya makes her pronouncement. "When we get back, I wanna change the locks, Leo. Get some tougher ones. I don't' want her sneaking into our place again, short of having to bust down the door."

"Thank you..." Leonard makes certain that Maya receives her own focused dollop of appropriate gratitude. His words hang as he considers more, then decides to leave it at that. There's the other drama to address, now. "I'm not implying that everyone can just hug and all is perfect, Vix, but it was a step taken, at least... and, yes, I'll have the locks changed. After a shower." He is readily agreeable, and even his differing opinon is not anything near argumentative.

Maya steps back, leaving the pair alone, vanishing out of the door to sign off his release forms and complete the chart. After that, she returns to the lab to get on with her work.

Vixen gives Maya a last thankful smile before she looks to Leo again. "I wanted to be sure.. not sure why you've bent over so much for that one, but as long as you're being careful. I say it a lot, but its true.. lying ain't hard to do. Gets real easy and I doubt she finds it hard to do. Good for getting people to relax before you do something."

Now it's time for Leonard to peel back the covers and see about dismounting the bed to reclaim his necessary clothing. "You didn't see her face when she came in. She was nervous and uncomfortable, so I don't think it was an act. Call it a last chance, if you want. You were nice enough to give me that opportunity, afterall." A brief smile, and then he's rotating and sliding himself from the bed. He's a little unsteady, but should be able to dress for departure easily enough."

Vixen stands to help Leo with his first steps after his bedridden period. "I love you, Leo. And I know you are good at heart. I don't know her." Vixen laying down the foundation of her mistrust. "You can give her a last chance if you want, but I'm not of a mind to do so. Not until she shows serious reason why I should." Her words low and her touch careful, lending him what support he might need for his initial dressing.

"I understand, Vix," Leonard leans when needed as he dresses, but doesn't abuse the lending too much, "and I'm not pushing for you to do anything different. We'll just have to see how things go, and carefully so. For now, getting home is my first priority."

Vixen is agreeable enough to Leo's balanced line on things. "Yeah, I wanna get there too," she murmurs, helping him with his dressing gently. She's a sturdy one, able to support his weight well. And once he's dressed, she steps back a little and goes to get her coat, settling it on over her armor. "You can get a shower and we'll relax some. I'm making sure you take it easy for the next few days, just to be sure."

Leonard is also a lightweight, a fact that he's reminded of far too often. Once she gets her coat, he leans on her once more, this time taking advantage of it to lean in and borrow a brief kiss. "Just not /too/ easy. I might get spoiled." A grin follows as he'll let her lead the limping procession with his arm still about her.

"Don't worry, Leo. Once you're better, I'll put you to work." Vixen's grinning rejoinder after the kiss is accepted. "C'mon, gimpy." Her arm moving behind him as she escorts him off. Just have to secure her gun before they can get on their way to home.
