From Chronicles
Flare comes into Coventry place, clinging to a black object in her hands about the size of an eclip. Looks like she was out doing something and still looks a bit jumpy and tired.
Out in the yard Ash does some stretching and limbering exercises as the sun shines down warming up the day. He doesn't really need the exercises judging by how limber he is, fully doing the splits easily and acting almost like he has no joints at all in how he bends and folds over to reach out to grasp his feet one after the other with both hands. He watches the goings on around the place of course, a small smile on his face as he watches the goings on. Catching sight of Flare he tilts his head to the side at the woman's demeanor but he waves none the less, offering out a companionable, "Hey." Loud enough to carry to her ears.
Flare jumps a little and flames start to flicker about her before she catches herself and quashes it again. She looks at Ash and watches him for a moment and then dips her head, "Hello." she says softly.
Ash eyes the appearance of the flames and he stretches backwards then springs up to his feet in a single graceful motion and starts over towards her. "Didn't work?" He asks, concern showing in his voice, "The artifact thing? Or haven't had a chance to try yet?"
Flare looks at him for a moment, "What didn't work?" she asks looking a bit confused for a moment, "Oh, I talked to Tirzah." she says softly, "She might come and talk to you so she knows all the facts, I have problems remembering details."
Tilting his head to the side Ash blinks his wide dark eyes, "Alright. You didn't tell her I was here did you? Or is there some place we can go to meet with her?" He then asks, "I hope you talked to her about trying to meditate with the artifact too. Can't be good, going this long without being able to sleep or meditate... unhealthy."
Flare shakes her head, "I can sleep, just not well." she says and shakes her head a bit. She looks at her, "She is on your side on this, so you are aware. I think she just wants to talk to you so she knows exactly what to accuse Ahriman of, she also suggested going to the police. They might not be able to do much, but the act itself might give Ahriman pause, cause there are things he doesn't want them looking into."
Ash nods, "We already did. We just don't know if they're going to do anything about it." He smiles a little wryly, "They're actually the first people we went to." He then looks a bit relieved, "Well, that's good. I didn't know what to expect from Tirzah... so far, everyone I've talked to seems to be on our side except Celaeno..."
Flare nods, "Well she doesn't fully trust Ahriman either so." she smiles a little. She sighs softly and nods, "Well if you have then, maybe something can be done." she shakes her head a bit.
Ash walks over towards her but stays out of reach so he's not impunging on her space or anything. "Thank you, for talking to Tirzah about this. The more people on our side in this situation, the better. Maybe now we can start living a normal life again soon." He smiles over towards her, "But I hope you try to use that artifact thing..." He smiles a little wider, "No offense but I'd much rather you weren't at risk of going up in flame all the time."
Flare looks at him, "I am never at risk of going up in flame, just everyone around me, I am immune to fire." she shakes her head and sighs a little, "I do not know much about it, other than it is being researched at the moment."
"That's what I meant." Ash says in response, gesturing towards where the flames had just flickered over her skin. "I'm sure it'd be more comfortable to not have to worry about it." He considers, "Isabeau couldn't help Ahriman... but... I don't know maybe she can try and help you because you're a psychic and not a magicker?" He asks, "Do you want me to ask her about checking for you?"
Flare cocks her head to the side a little, "What did he want her to do? what would she try to do?" she asks looking a bit confused as she looks at him.
Ash answers, "Well, he wanted her to try and heal his ability to regain his power. I'm not sure exactly what it was but... Isabeau is a psychic too as well as a magicker. Maybe that link... she could use to stop you from having bad dreams and be able to meditate? I don't know, it couldn't hurt and make it worse."
Flare shrugs, "If she would like to try, I wouldn't turn down any help, but has to be her choice, I don't blame her if she doesn't want to try." she says softly. She lets out a couple breaths.
Ash nods with a small smile, "She is generally a kind and helpful woman. It's what got her into this mess with Ahriman... because he went to try and exploit that. I'm sure she wouldn't mind helping a friend if she can, I can't guarantee that she'll be successful, but she will try I am almost as positive as I can be without being her myself." He gestures towards her, "You tried to help us, it's the least we can do. Wish I could do something but I'm just a mundane."
Flare nods, "If she is willing to try, come visit the apartment if I am not out, I will welcome the attempt, I am scared that if I use my abilitie sand my energy that I will lose my powers."
"I'll talk to her about it." Ash says with a small smile, "If I were in your position, I am sure I would be just as concerned." He reaches to lightly touch her arm if she lets him. "We'll figure out a way to get it worked out. I shouldn't keep you standing outside though... carrying... whatever that is." He gestures towards the thing she's carrying about the size of an e-clip.
Flare looks at him and as he touches her arm, her skin is very warm to the touch, as if she is trying to keep from burning up. She shakes her head, "I was just out visiting. this?" she holds it up, "It is a device, I give it some energy and it projects a field that protects all things within it from fire."
Ash ahhs, "I heard you used something like that at the bar when that near fight went down." He removes his hand though not like he was afraid of being burned but because it's probably easier for her to not worry about accidentally burning him. He looks around, "That one is yours right?" Gesturing towards her door, "I'll get Isabeau and we'll stop by later ok?"
Flare nods, "Yes. I couldn't control my flames at the bar. I used this so I didn't do any damage." she shakes her head and a few tears form, "I almost got kicked out of the place, Its why I rarely go out." she shakes her head again, "This is mine a friend made it for me before Xander taught me how to fully control my ability, but I have lost that control, my emotions hold sway." she shakes her head a bit. "Alright, knock, I should be around."
Ash nods a bit, "Well, it's good that you have something like that still... it's a hell of a thing... I thought you were just having a real rough time of things. That's the only time I've heard of a psychic losing control like that... either when they're first learning or they've been pushed over the edge."
Flare looks at him, "my control has always been a fine line, wasn't too bad but I was never able to be intimate with anyone, anytime I got too angry or too...aroused, I would burst into flames." she shakes her head a bit and blushes.
Ash smiles, "Sounds like you need a fireproof lover." He says a bit playfully as if trying to make light of it or at least make it not sound so bad. "I bet when you finally got control... was a wild time had by all." He winks, "Wish I coulda been there." He says giving her a once over, "Beautiful woman you are... and you know, us d-bee's." He says playfully, "Got to stick together."
Flare smiles a little, "Xander is my lover, he helped me get the control." she shakes her head as she looks at him, "Careful." she teases, "Might be burned."
"Probably worth the risk." Ash says with a smile, happy that she's teasing and being light about things before he winks one dark wide eye at her. "Xander... think I met him once... He's a psychic too isn't he?"
Flare chuckles a little and shakes her head, "Few have tasted the fruits of my passion." she says and shakes her head a bit, "Yes, he is." she says softly and leaves it at that, she doesn't talk much about his abilities.
Ash nods, "He was doing some funky telekinetic bubbles thing against the Coalition we were fighting against." He then mmmms, "Now see, that just makes you all the more desirable Flare... if so few have tasted those forbidden fruits... makes them all the more sought after." He smiles and clucks his tongue against the roof of his mouth lightly then sighs, "But, sometimes it doesn't pay to be born without a nose..."
Flare shakes her head, "Physical beauty is not everything. I was never treated as special till Xander, not really, even with my fiancee' of course the first time we made out I put him into a coma with 3rd degree burns." she shakes her head as if to get rid of a memory, "Growing up under the Coalition is not easy."
Ash tilts his head to the side, "I don't know why any man wouldn't... you are a beautiful woman." He says honestly and with a soft undertone of conviction, "Even for one that has a nose." He smiles again playfully. "But, I should stop... don't want you to think I'm trying to steal you away from Xander or something like that." He chuckles softly and then shakes his head, "I guess I'll just have to dream."
Flare looks at him, "And here I thought you and Isabeau were a couple?" she asks as she looks at him for a moment, "No one could steal me from Xander." she says that simply.
Ash chuckles, "To an extent... I guess." He rakes a hand through his spiky blond hair. "She's... a friend, and I care about her. I don't have a whole lot of friends." He admits with a little shrug, "And it's not like I -am- trying to steal you from Xander, I can still find a woman beautiful, and tease, even if I was with someone." He smiles softly, "But if I -was- with someone, really -with- someone... I don't think I could betray them like that." He smiles, "But, that still won't stop me from saying that you're a beautiful woman, and were things different, it'd be worth the risk of getting burned and anyone who doesn't think so, is a fool."
Flare chuckles a little and shakes her head a bit, "Well if I get things under control you will have to come see my show at the Alibi if I am still able to do it."
Ash nods, "I used to go there all the time, before the troubles..." He smiles, "Just got to be positive about things... always be positive about the future, finding a way through things. Otherwise, all the... crap that infests this world will weigh you down and drag you down until you're ground under the heels of it."
Flare shrugs, "Well we will see. It is why I am avoiding there right now, can't risk getting kicked out."
Ash nods, "I can understand that completely." He smiles a little wryly, "We've had to avoid the Dregs almost completely... just because on the off chance that Ahriman does try anything, we hope the cops will be there to help us... or at least provide a detriment to his trying anything."
Ash adds, "It's hard, because we both live there. We can't afford to stay here forever."
Flare nods, "Well maybe Tirzah can help. Maybe I should ask for a few of her fire globes that I could use on him." she shrugs a bit, "if i had to."
Ash nods, "I am hoping... I am really hoping that if Tirzah helps us... there will be so many arrayed against him he'll not do anything out of self preservation." He smiles a little wryly at that, "Though, I've heard this isn't the first time he's tried to enslave a woman before so... I guess to much is to much."
Flare nods, "I am not happy about it....he did what?" she asks as she looks at him. It gets a little hotter in the air around him.
"Leonard said that this isn't the first time Ahriman's tried to enslave a woman. Also that he's gotten away with murder in the past so... I don't know." Ash says with a little shrug, "All I know is I am bound and determined to not allow it this time." He then looks over towards her, "But don't go off half cocked ok? Lets let the cops do their job, or at least know full on if they're not going to do anything first."
Flare looks at him and there is flames in her eyes. She frowns a little, "I will keep myself under control, Leo is a good friend. He made me this." she holds up the device and then lowers it again.
Ash nods, "Well, then perhaps it's best to talk to him about it? I don't know the full particulars."
Flare nods, "Maybe I should try to talk to Ahriman myself." she says and shakes her head a bit.
Ash shakes his head afterwards, "I don't think that's a good idea." He admits, "I think, when and if people talk to Ahriman about his... activities, we need to do it as a group. So he knows where he stands that there's so many against him in this. If we approach him one by one he'll likely be confident of his abilities... and his ability to get away with murder in the past... I don't know."
Flare looks at him, "I have nothing to lose." she says and shakes her head a bit, she is unstable and it shows a bit in that statement.
"You have Xander to lose." Ash says simply. "You have friends to lose." He folds his arms across his chest, "Even if you don't think you have stuff to lose, you really do. People care about you, would you hurt them like that?"
Flare looks at him, "And if there is nothing to be done for me, if I go too much longer like this, I will lose myself and no one will be safe to be around me."
"There has to be something to be done." Ash says with a shrug, "Never give up hope for that. If you give up, then you automatically lose. If you stop fighting, then there is nothing you can do you just accept death and the inevitable. I don't think you're that weak." He says simply. "So, don't give up."
Flare shrugs, "I don't know what can be done," she says and shrugs a bit and is just really tired and it shows.
Ash steps closer towards her forcing himself to ignore the increased temperature, "Hey," He says softly, "Right now, you don't know what can be done. It doesn't mean there is nothing to be done." He looks towards her eyes, flaming or not, "But if you give up, you'll never find the fix."
Flare shakes her head a bit and then turns to head to her apartment, "YOu are right i..." she is starting to cry. The tears turning to steam as they roll down her cheeks.
Ash starts to reach out towards her, but given that he's unarmored at the moment the heat is to much and he has to pull away or get burned... hell, a few burns are worth it he must decide as he reaches out again and moves to give her a gentle hug, and hold her in a supporting fashion unless she pulls away, "You're not alone." He says softly. "Don't give up."
Flare blinks and just starts crying more and the heat vanishes. She shakes her head a little, "Thank you. I..should..get in." she sniffs a bit.
Ash reaches up and absently brushes his fingertips against her hair and he smiles a little, "Thank you again... for everything you've done for Isabeau." He says softly, "Go in, take a shower, relax and make Xander give you a massage." He smiles a little wider then.
Flare nods, "Hot tub, much better than shower." she says and dips her head to him and turns to slip off.
