NIGHTINGALE

Erica is having a night out to relax after getting back from a trip. She has decided to have a few drinks at the Nightingale. She has a table by herself and is watching the DJ idly. In front of her is a bottle of scotch, and a glass. One hand cups her face while she listens to the music, and people watches.

Pavel's face seems to express that he's reached his destination. His first sub-destination is the bar, and he walks away with a bottle of vodka, soon to join the ladies on the dance floor for a few minutes. He's certainly dressed up for the evening, and in very good spirits.

Leonard joins the festivities, such as they are, intent on good wine and music at less than ear-shattering volume. Fortunately, both are available here. He is certainly dressed for the establishment, the avian accessory upon his shoulder notwithstanding.

Erica takes a long sip from her glass of scotch. She dangles the glass in her fingers as she watches the dance floor idly. Her painted lips are expressionless as she seems to not really be watching the dancers. After a moment she shakes her head, and puts the glass on the table. She looks around briefly and seems a little shocked to spot Leonard. She waves briefly at the man. On seeing Pavel she gives him a brief nod, if he sees it.

Indeed, Pavel will always see the nod of a pretty woman, and his face breaks into a large smile. He waves a huge catcher's mitt of a hand and does a someone imperfect job of barging his way through the crowd to get to Erica's table. He seems to think of his words for a moment, then blinks, smiles and speaks in Euro, << Hi, Erica! You look a little under the weather. Want a friend to help you drown your sorrows, so far in the bottle that you can't help but automatically climb your way out with a grin. And possibly a terrible headache? >> He sets his vodka on the table, gently.

Leonard offers a pleasant smile to Erica as he passes her table en route to the bar. After he reaches the latter, and requests his wine, he returns her wave in kind. "Good evening." By that time, however, there is the larger man with the larger smile already near her. An easy individual for Leonard to study a moment.

Erica nods her head briefly at Pavel, but her expression doesn't really change much. She pours herself another two fingers of scotch into her glass. "Hello Pavel, I'm fine just thinking about a few things. How have you been? You look gregarious as always." She says with a brief curl of her lips. "How is chasing the girls?" As Leonard passes by she nods her head in greeting to the man. "Leonard. I haven't seen you in some time. How have you been?"

<< Good, thank you! Yes, I'm hoping to catch three tonight. HA! >> Pavel may be gregarious and full of life, but he isn't one tending to the impolite side, and quickly recognizes an unfamiliar face that is apparently a friend of a friend. He turns to look at the shorter man, smiling. He continues in Euro, as that's been his best shot at communication lately. << Hello! I am Pavel, you might be an old friend of Erica's? She's been nice to an outsider here. >>

"Away," Leonard answers, "and rather busy, unfortunately. Now, at least, I can enjoy a break back in the city." He salutes her with his glass and extends it to the other man, as well. "A friend of yours?" The question is for Erica.

Erica curves her lips again briefly. "Well I wish you luck in that then Pavel. I am sure there are plenty of women about for you." She says before picking up her glass of scotch. She smells it briefly before taking a long sip from it. "Well I am glad to see you back in town. I hope Vixen is well." She says before gesturing towards Pavel. "Leonard this is Pavel. Pavel doesn't speak the best American, so usually he just speaks Euro to me."

Pavel blushes a little at that, dipping his head slightly in embarrassment. He does his best to explain. "Pavel ess frohm Russia, noht speek good Engleesh. So sorry. Ees good meet, Leonard." Then, in a hopeful tone, "Cahn speek Euro?" He twirls a finger to indicate the table. "All speek Euro? Hope?"

Leonard chuckles at Erica's comment, even with comprehension of only half of that portion of the conversation. He also nods. "My thanks, and she is well." A sip of wine and he tips his glass to the man. "Good to meet you, Pavel. I can certainly do my part to be accommodating." The hand not burdened with the glass makes a momentary gesture, and Leonard's next words are in Euro. "You need not worry.

Erica gives Pavel a bit of an encouraging smile. "He understands well enough, just doesn't speak it perfectly, but he has improved in the time that I have known him." She turns to Leonard, and turns her smile toward him. "I'm glad to hear she is well. I miss chatting with her." She says while dangling her scotch glass from her fingers. After she is done speaking she takes a long sip of the scotch.

Pavel politely stays out of the part of the conversation between friends of which he isn't a part. But he is pleased. << Magic? Ah, magic here, and technology for Erica. Always such an interesting place. Thank you for the spell. >> He nods over to the seated woman. << Erica's correct. My comprehension is as good as anyone, it's just that I have a very difficult time with the sounds and the grammar. I suppose you've been in the city for a very long time, then? >>

"Not overly long," Leonard rolls his shoulders, "but long enough. I also travel rather frequently." He smiles and waves an absent hand about. "It is quite the interesting place, yes. You are a recent arrival, I presume?"

Erica puts down the glass, and picks up the bottle of scotch. She pours herself three more fingers of scotch before putting the bottle down. "Leonard is quite accomplished. He is supposed to be very well traveled." She smiles and nods briefly at Leonard. "Pavel here is a fine blacksmith. He is making me a fine silver knife."

With that cue, Pavel retrieves a silver blade from where it had been tucked in a pocket among his odd clothing. It's a truly beautiful piece of craftsmanship, with all of the decorations, designs and phrases that had been requested. He holds it horizontally between two hands. << Very pure silver, and it will hold its edge up against anything you'd ever reasonably strike it with. Also, as promised, vampires and other such creatures? They should fear this blade. It is one that is truly deserving of being named. >> It is set on the table near Erica. Leonard receives a smile, though only brief as this is Erica's moment. << Yes, thank you. Only a few weeks now, and trying to make friends. >>

Leonard nods to the comments, lips momentarily occupied by his wine. His eyes are also otherwise drawn, to the knife. It is admired a long moment. "A splendid piece. I'm sure you'll make many acquaintances, if not friends, with craftsmanship like that. Silver is an excellent choice, also, as many beings are vulnerable to the metal."

"Well I got it in case of vampires. Between that and my water pistol. I'll make them hurt before they tear me apart." Erica says with a bit of a laugh in her voice and a wry grin. "I thank you for the knife Pavel. It is wonderful, and a work of art. I am glad that I ordered it from you."

Pavel smiles widely, very pleased that his construct was so well received. << It was my pleasure. My first genuine request beyond the more mundane since I arrived. >> He leans slightly and looks to both Erica and Leonard to explain, << It's extremely strong, and quite deadly, but my intent is for it to be used as a dagger or stiletto; a defined point to be plunged into the heart of an undead vermin. Many wishes that it serves you well, and long. >> Another look to Leonard with bouncing eyes. << Yes, silver's very good. You know, it's quite interesting. Almost no one knows this, but most of the more unique metals, such as gold, copper, platinum, even pure iron have their own special properties. That is, if crafted in the right hands. Perhaps as your magic as crafted, but more specific. >> After that statement, despite the fact that he obviously wants to continue the conversation, Pavel discovers that his bottle is now empty, and excuses himself to return to the bar for a refill.
