Jul 12 08:20:27 106 PA - North Dregs Mixer
From Chronicles
The current game time is: Tue Jul 12 08:20:27 106 PA.
The Dregs are still darkening this Tuesday evening, the night young for those who would spend their downtime in the city's red light district, the North Dregs. Vixen is one of them, clad in her tight, dark garb and armored coat. She's recently approached the front of the Alibi, but has paused before entering to fish out one of her smokes. Smoking a bit less, but the urge still holds to her, the flame of her lighter snuffed with a flick of the wrist, her first draw leaving a haze of smoke about her as she releases it, the cig itself dangling from her lips as she slips the lighter back into her coat.
Ema exits the Alibi well before it's crowd has peeked, her springy curls bouncing as she squeezes through the crowd gathering near the door. She stops short as her eyes fall on Vixen, her pensive features melting away as a small smile twitches onto her lips. She approaches, hands clasped behind her back, "Those things will kill you," she says, her smile widening, large dark eyes locked on the smoking woman.
Vixen looks up sharply when Ema's voice comes, her moment of enjoying the first draw and release interrupted. The two are standing outside the Alibi, Vixen with a hand rolled cig between her fingers as she removes it from dangling at lip level. "What's with the get up?" Her own response given an obvious edge of nip in return. "And what'd you want?" She turns to face the other woman, eyeing her intently.
Dark walks along the side of the road, his gaze impassive. The man's attention doesn't seem to be focused on anything in particular as he moves, more simply surveying things in general. His walk is unhurried, no clear purpose seeming at hand. This is contrasted with a severity of mein and intensity of inspection of those who come near that can be... uncomfortable.
"One might ask you the same question," Ema says, her smile holding, "Feelin a bit vulnerable?" she shrugs, taking a slow look around her, eyes moving about quickly as she takes a mental inventory of what's around her, "And I don't want anything from you, just offering a bit of advice to one who is obviously concerned about her well being." Its hard to tell if she smiling, or if that is a bit of a smirk on her lips.
"Cut the shit," Vixen replies, her expression tightening. "I ain't interested in playing games with you. You gunna prove yourself a liar and start shit up again, just fucking do it already. Or you can drop the bullshit and we can talk. Or you can get the hell out of my face right now." Yeah, she might be feeling vulnerable. Fear? Maybe. But she don't seem interested in dancing, her voice kept low to not draw too much attention. Either way, she keeps her eyes on Emayn, even as she lifts the cig to be drawn on again, smoke held.
Dark comes along, happening upon the semi-confrontation between the two women and stopping. His head turns a bit to one side, consideration seeming in his mein as he folds both of his arms over his chest. After a long moment he speaks. "Pardon, Ladies. I have no desire to interrupt. Though this may not be the most discreet of locations for your ... problem resolution." His voice is modulated and machine sounding through the voice emitter on his mask.
"Suit yourself, little one, but don't say I didn't warn you when you're on my operating table with your lungs failing." Ema holds her smile, eyes moving to the man who is suddenly just there, "Do you know where you are, sir? If the dregs aren't a place for a bit of pleasant conversation, than I don't know where is." she smirks then, "And it is certainly not the sort of place to offer unsolicited advice to strangers."
Vixen frowns as Dark makes himself known, her eyes snapping towards him. Flitting over him in a few quick darts as she exhales her lungfull casually. "Seriously, no one asked you," she tells him at once, backing up Ema's confrontational turn towards Dark. She then looks to Ema and states, "You don't even know what I'm smoking. Just like you don't know shit all about me, chick. So you can kindly take your 'concern' and stuff it. You want to talk to me for real, like we was before, I'm all for it. I'm done with fighting with you." She waggles her cig between her fingers, knocking free a bit of ash casually.

If Dark's expression changes in reaction it is not visible behind his mask, though his head turns to one side once again. Dropping his arms and giving a shrug to his shoulders his arms are underneath the swath of his cloak. "Perhaps you are correct. Yet it is certainly not a place to give idle threats. Not that anywhere is really. Enemies are far too easy to come by. And you never know what they might be capable of. A prudent man is not given to rashness. Which is why I made plain I did not wish to disturb." he says as he bows slightly, in a crisp motion, to each woman. "If you will excuse me."
Kesslan exits from The Alibi, the blank eyed felanoid in his usual attire of body armor and argubably excessive weaponry. Though as tends to be normal for him when working at The Alibi he doesnt wear his helmet, though he does carry it with him. There is a minor touch of warriness as he exits however, for cybernetically enhanced hearing cant but help pick up the sounds of an argument. Not that such things are all -that- uncommon in the Dregs to say the least however. Still, he's always concerned when there's some potential fight brewing near the club, considering he has a vested intrest in it's well being. He does not however, for the time being at least, interfere, but he does pause to watch with those solid white orbs of his.
Ema chuckles at the man, her eyes moving back to Vixen even as her head shakes, "Oh young little Vixen, we've never fought, not really. I trust you'll know it if we ever do." she shrugs then, rocking a bit on booted heels, "Just don't say I never looked out for ya." she turns then, looking down the street, "I'll be seeing ya, i guess, I'm in much too good a mood right now to have it spoiled by your insecurities."
When Dark rolls out the 'didn't want to disturb' angle, Vixen rolls her eyes and looks back to Emayn. "Fine, don't step to me square. You got the invitation and I know we can connect. All you got to do is take it." Which she doesn't. She looks back towards the Alibi and notes Kesslan's presence, her hand lifted to wave at him, then motion for him to come over.

Dark shifts a bit on his feet, making his way further down the street without looking back. He starts surveying ahead of himself, side to side as before, though he does note Kesslan's presence... offering him a nod in greeting. "Evening." he says, simply.
Ema seems content to not get into a fight tonight, a rarity to be sure. Hands still clasped behind her back, she walks down the dark street, a light skip in her step as she whistles softly, heading deeper into the "bad" part of the dregs.
Kesslan was hardly about to step into the middle of an argument univited, even if he did know one of the parties involved. There's a return nod to Dark, the feline's ears perking up a little though in the end, with everyone going their own way he simply makes his way over to Vixen. And of course with his usual directness he opens up with his standard greeting. "You are well?" he inquires. A mere politeness for the most part though time to time he's actually had a contradictory response that he's had to take some action or other uppon. One never knows afterall, and certainly where friends are concerned his question, while sounding fairly casual does have true care behind it.
"I'm fine, Kess," Vixen replies, looking after Emayn for a few moments before she focuses on him. "About to step in and get a drink, which is still the plan. That was.. interesting. Leo says she's turning over a new leaf or some shit, but sounds about the same to me, even if she changed clothes. Guess we'll see, won't we? How are you doing, big guy?" Her cig lifts up then and she takes a light draw, going about the act with a slow relish, the herbal scented smoke lingering about her.
Kesslan looks the way Emayn left in before simply giving a shrug "This one does not know. I know not the one you speak of, thus Kesslan's place it is not to judge such things." He says after a moment before looking back towards Vixen. "I am.. alive." he responds after another brief moment of considering her question. "Well physically. Still issue does Kesslan have to struggle with from.."there's another pause in his speach. "Events past at base." there's notable anger in his words this time, though it's held in check. Though notably he even expresses it somewhat openly, a slight baring of sharp teeth, the flattening of the ears, the slight flexing of the fingers as if extending his claws.
"Maybe I'll tell you the story later," Vixen offers casually before she steps closer, reaching out to put a hand against the back of one of his own. "You gotta let that go, Kess. You don't even know which of them people did that, right? It was bad, yeah.. but its done. Maybe we didn't get just what we want, but we actually got outta there in one piece. That's a lot."
"Forgiveness is thing Pantheran taught at young age. Truth. Is teaching of Pantheran to these things forgive and so Vixen right is." Kesslan says softly, his head tilting down and away, his ears flattening back a little further. There is anotable creak from grinding armored joints in his hands however. "But Kesslan can not these things forgive. It was not the way Kesslan taught was. Was not the way Kesslan raised was." he once more turns to regard Vixen, though his expression is a hard one to read. "For much of time, Kesslan raised not by Pantheran was, but by Atorian. Forgiveness and mercy is not thing taught. War, Death, Vengence.. how to.. how to be slave to Atorian Empire. These things all they taught. Not to forgive."
"Never said forgive, Kess," Vixen replies, seeming unafraid by Kess's mood. And she shows it by lifting up her hands, a palm going to either side of his head, her eyes fixed towards his. "Maybe you should let Vix teach you some things then. I know all about stressing over things, worrying and raging inside and dwelling all over shit you can't forget. Me, I'm thinking it ain't worth it no more. Never change things. What does change things is when you let it go and focus on what you got right here and right now. Ain't easy, but its better when you can do it."
With the sun setting and the humidity low, the weather once again decides to be comfortable. Leonard approaches the Alibi from the west, cloak absent and casually colorful shirtsleeves rolled up his anti-burly forearms. Following a day of hard toil waving his fingers or studious research, a relaxing drink is always welcome.
"To let go.. Kesslan must forgive. But Kesslan forgive can not. Not now." He says quite simply, the feline not pulling his head away. The D-bee's fur is notably a little coars about the head in most places though fairly soft in others as well as a touch oily. The flesh beneath unusually warm. But there's other things Vixen can sense in that touch, the trembling of muscles clenched so hard they tremble with the exertion. The brief moment of relaxation as he speaks. The feel of the muscles alone speaks volumes of his anger that his posture and bearing cant even begin to save to perhaps another felanoid race, or one who truely knows how to read a Pantheran's expressions. However, after a moment the tenseness fades, the muscles relax once more. But it's not forgotten or forgiven. Only burried down deep once more. Leaving only the barely visible, faint blue outline of his eyes that still show that inner anger and hurt. Something entirely invisible to the normal eye from more than a foot or two it's so faint, leaving it to fade into the white background of his eyes.
Vixen frowns a little and keeps looking at Kesslan firmly after the suppression. "You gotta learn one or the other then. I ain't forgiven Ema nothing, but I ain't letting the past mess stress me. Got too much to do and too much to enjoy." She pats Kesslan's cheeks then and her touch retracts. "Just gotta do something that fills the thoughts and before you know it you don't even remember what you was upset about."
Leonard's steps reflexive quicken as he notes Vixen's presence, but then return to their prior pace once it seems she's in a likely personal conversation. He still approaches the pair, but slows further as he nears so as not to suddenly burst any bubble that might exist around them.
"Though deed forgiven may be, never is one to forget what has come and gone. Only from past can we learn and improve." Kesslan says in response to Vixen then, reciting something or other from memory. "As is in Tarr-chek clan sayings. First edition Grand Council printing of the first age of unity, third claw under Atorian Empire occupation." there's a slight pause to let that all sink in before he speaks once more, looking a way a moment and then back to Vixen yet again. "To forget would sin be in words of human religion. Kesslan can not forget. But in not forgetting Kesslan too can not at this time forgive as is Pantheran way."
Vixen grimaces and waves off the varied references as she states, "I ain't telling you to forget like, never remember.. that's impossible. But you can get it outta your thinking right now. It'll always be there, but having it in you all the time is bad." She lifts her cig again, taking a light draw. One that's exhaled quickly, her head turned in the process. And she notices Leo about then. She grins at him and reaches out his way, silently inviting him closer.
"Evening..." Leonard takes the invitation and closes upon Vixen, his greeting extended to them both. "I trust that I'm notinterrupting. How are you both?" His gaze moves between them in mixed curiosity as he reaches her side, uncertain of what he's stumbled into this time. Not that a lecture from Vixen is anything new, of course.
"Well physical, rest is.. complicated." Kesslan responds to Leonard. He seems however content enough to leave it at that. "Good friend are you to Kesslan Vixen." he says softly turning back to her. "Of these things, Kesslan forget will not and of advice will.. try follow." there's a huff of air from the D-bee, abit like a sigh. "Is good in that have lover and friend and ally in this place. Or Kesslan would not have strength alone to endure."
Vixen looks to take Leo's with the free hand while the other keeps her cig in place, half raised, but allowed to smolder. "I think we should get Kess a drink and have some talking," she tells Leo, indeed letting the specific topic fall to the side. She looks back to Kesslan and notes, "We've never just sat and talked about nothing important, I think. Always something serious to talk about."
Leonard nods to Kesslan with some mild understanding, if only in the sense that matters are complicated. He can readily comprehend that portion, no matter how vague. "Drinks and conversation are always wise and welcome, Vix." This is confirmed with his hand meeting hers to be absconded with. "It can often uncomplicate matters." The last is offered to Kesslan in what little pleasantly vague reassurance he might offer.
"Is always important think spoken of, becuase is all Kesslan time for have." The feline says with a simple and calm tone. "Too much must Kesslan do. Too many live count on thing Kesslan do to not focus on things important." he explains. "Of technology, of weapons of cutlure of many thing of this world and other Kesslan try collect. Of remains of fallen, of.. of many thing Kesslan need do. So that when time proper come Kesslan to Seriv may go and bring thing of importance to difference for rest make. This is mission, this is duty, this is honour. In this Kesslan must succeed or die."
Vixen breathes out a low sigh as she squeezes Leo's hand, then releases him to move up to Kesslan. "C'mon, big guy. We're getting you a brandy and you're not going to talk about business," she states, reaching out to snag his arm in a bid to start walking him back towards the Alibi. "Or maybe I'll show Leo how good I am at tossing stuff, with your head as the target." She looks towards Kesslan with a casual grin, her tone one of obvious jest.
Leonard chuckles at Vixen's jest as he follows her lead towards the club. Hand or no hand, he was headed there already, so it has nothing to do with any virtual leashes nor perception thereof. "That is much more a threat coming from her than I, although I'm much more partial to drinks and talk."
"Perhaps this good idea would be." Kesslan admits after a brief moment and gives a nod. "Yes, more practice does Vixen need in the throwing of things. Clearly if Leo no scars from Vixen bear does Vixen not hit him in head enough." the tone is still flat and pratical. As if he were stating fact. There is however just the slightest twitch of his pierced ear as he says this.
Vixen takes Kesslan's words as she wants to, grinning broadly as she leads him towards the club by that looped arm. "That's the spirit, Kess! And a good brandy will loosen you up a bit more. Nothing better for relaxing when you're stressed out." Her course is set and provided Kess is not resistant, she'll take him in.
"Oh, don't worry," Leonard quips as they approach the door, "she hits me in the head quite often. I believe I'm just becoming experienced enough that it doesn't require as many impacts to correct the situation." He quickens his pace to gain a step or two and open the door. "After you..." Proof that his concussions were not in vain.
And so, in Kesslan goes completely and utterly dragged kicking and screaming against his will by the vile and dastardly Vixen and her ever present minion Leonard. Where uppon he will no doubt be tortured, tormented and made to suffer many an indignity at their terrible hands. Or.. perhaps he simply follows her and winds up having to try and relax one of the few times he's actually allowed himself to do so over the years.
"Thank you, Leo." Vixen's smiling response to his chivalry. And once inside, she takes charge. Past the weapons check, her light armory turned over, she directs Leo and Kesslan to find a seat while she attends to the drinks. Minutes passing before she returns to them, cig dangling between lips, nearly half gone. A glass of brandy in one hand and a glass of her own pinkish choice and wine carefully held in the other hand and distributed in a relaxed manner.

Minutes passing before she returns to them, cig dangling between lips, nearly half gone. A glass of brandy in one hand and a glass of her own pinkish choice and wine carefully held in the other hand and distributed in a relaxed manner.'
Calex entrance to the bar is anything but casual, from the overwhelmed look on his face as he looks around, to the displeasure he shows at having to give up his staff at the door. Still, he eventually makes it into the bar proper, where he stops and takes a moment to get his bearings. The bar is his first stop, and he orders a drink, which he pays for while he waits for it to be prepared. A group of men approach, and shoulder the small man to the side, his annoyance brief as he steps back and waits a few steps out from the bar, and his drink. A few whispered words cause blue tendrils to snake out slowly from his hand, floating to the bar to envelope his glass, and slowly bring the liquid filled cup to him. He snatches it as it nears, the tendrils fading as he takes a tentative sip, looking around once more.
Leonard locates and claims a seat at a booth with suitable room for the three of them. His return of her smile is witheld until her arrival thereupon and the dissemination of drinks. "I still think that you favor that simply due to the color..." A mild tease at her poison of choice before he carefully slides his own glass away from her immediate reach.
Kesslan is, as usual allowed in with his regular compliment of weaponry. A small note that none the less does cause him to stand out a little more from the rest. But that's what happens when one works in a place like this, much less happens to be a part owner. By now, any regulars dont even think twice about the oddity of the feline being able to keep his weaponry, for he's a common enough sight around here to say the least. He did not, nor did the staff however expect him to return so soon after the end of his shift, but seeing he's in company of friends there's barely any wait for the trio to enter the usually very buisy, and queued wait time club. Kess for his part finds an appropriate seat once the booth is found and he settles in. The armored feline falling silent for a few moments, and out of habbit he's scanning the club looking for signs of trouble. That much neither Leo nor Vixen could miss.
The guys at the door will be firm on collecting the staff, but they'll assure him that it will be safe and will even let him watch it be locked away in the broad storage space used for larger weapons, where many long swords, sticks and even a few illicit rifles are held. And later the display of magic will be eyed by a nearby bouncer, but the harmless nature of it will result in nothing more than that passing scrutiny. Barely notable for those not looking for it.
Vixen reaches out to lightly tap her nail in the rim of the glass slid near Kesslan. "Eyes here, you got plenty of guys watching things here." Her tone softly amused as she looks to Leo and shrugs her shoulders. "I like the taste. But the color don't hurt," she admits. The glass lifted for a light sip before she fixes on Kesslan again. "Dare I ask if you got some non business thoughts to share with us, Kess?"
Cal finds a seat towards the middle of the room and approaches it slowly, careful not to spill his nearly full glass of dark liquid. He sits, placing the cup on the tabletop before he touches the table as his lips move, the grime on the table top fading away leaving a perfectly clean surface. Satisfied, he leans forward, elbows on the table as he watches the dancefloor, seeming lost in thought.
"Of course." Leonard admits before looking from Vixen to Kesslan. "I don't expect that anything troublesome will occur, especially since your largest source is likely seated here with you." An opportune sip of wine nearly hides his grin.
"Kesslan does not think things of not buisiness ever have to talk of." the feline D-bee admits after a moment, a slight frown creasing his features before he's suddenly getting up from his seat to go deal with a brewing problem at the other end of the club. "Moment, return will Kesslan." he says, tone brooking no argument on the matter before he heads off into the crowd to help deal with the problem.
Vixen starts to respond to Kesslan when he has the nerve to get up without even sampling his drink. She frowns, glaring after him before she looks towards Leo. "He's such a pain in the ass," she grumbles. "Needs to chill the fuck out, but getting him to do it is like pulling teeth." She glances to the side a little, then points towards Calex nearby. "Needs to be more like that guy over there."
Calex smiles as he watches the organized chaos of the dance floor, seeming to see something that he enjoys, perhaps more than he should. His cheeks redden as he leans back and looks around, perhaps attempting to see if his almost leering look was noticed, and manages to catch Vixen pointing at him, which only causes the reddening to increase. His image flickers, and he seems to disappear and reappear a few times before his image stabilized, cheeks still red as he stares into his glass.
Leonard follows Vixen's pointing after Kesslan departs. "All business? That does tend to remind of someone else here at the table." After a slight pause, he adds, "Only on occassion, of course. You know that ..one?" The flickering adds more than a little uncertainty.
The look Vix gave Calex was a passing one, already looking at Leo again before her arm lowers. 'Oh, c'mon Leo. Ain't like I'm always business. Just when it needs to be like that. You know how I like to let my hair down." She grins, giving a little sly to go along with. "Kess is just always on the clock, worse than me. Ain't sure how to break him of that, though." She glances towards Calex then, after the last flickers. "Maybe he should watch the dancers like that guy." She's looking at him again. She knows!
Cal glances back over at the young girl that motioned towards him, offering an apologetic shrug in her direction the next time they make eye contact. He turns back to his drink and takes a few large gulps, perhaps hoping a bit of alcohol will calm him down a bit. He stands suddenly, his lips moving and eyes closing as a perfect double appears next to him, the image moving to take the seat he vacated as he picks up his glass and walks towards the two, "Excuse me, I'm sorry to interupt, I just wanted to come convey that what you saw is really not what it seemed." He stands straigh, his posture perfect, and he casts a quick glance towards his table, making sure its all in order before turning his attention back to the two.
"I certainly have no objections to that suggestion." This is proven with Leonard's gaze shifting towards the dancefloor and the undulating and/or questionably clad bodies that populate it. Nope, he has no problems with watching. "Although, it would make for a better view if I could drag you out there. All the kicking and screaming might even start a new fad... Oh?" His brows lift in confusion to the arriving Calex. Well, one of him.
The commotion settled down and at least one bloodied individual tossed out by the bouncers, Kesslan returns. Rule of law is strict here in Dregtown, and The Alibi is hardly any exception. Indeed, it's perhaps a little more brutal than most. But never, NEVER without reason. The lucky troublemakers just get tossed out, the more serious offenders get beaten and THEN tossed out. Nothing personal, just buisiness. Some are given warnings and allowed to return post beatings and the like. Some manage to net themselves a life time ban. Of course such things also vary depending on which of the owners is on duity. Kesslan certainly is the sort that belives in a good harsh lesson. And thus at least, the actions of the guards when he's around. But even then there's a limit. It' snot just seneless brutality though it may well seem that way to many. Other times people are simply bloodied from the very fights they started and get broken up. And fights are simply broken up and the offenders tossed out for the night for the most part. Though there's no gentle handling of that either.
But then Dregtown is not like the more peaceful parts of town. Here in Dregtown might is right. And so The Alibi must put up a fairly tough front to keep a handle, or it would run the risk of too much trouble from any one of the numerous gangs and the like. To say that Kesslan returns without a scratch from the little ordeal is not quite true, but the fur hides the few bruises he accured. Of course it's on his way back that Kesslan spots the oddity of Calex and his apparent double. The feline's ears perking in mild alarm, and the feline moves a little faster to make his presence known behind Calex, but does little than simply stand there keeping an eye as best he can on the apparent.. clones. Or what ever they are. Magic is something the D-bee knows of, being from a magic using society as well as his exposure here on Earth. But that doesnt mean he really understands it. He does however understand that it -can- be dangerous. And thats all he needs to know as far as he's concerned. So long as there's no threatning moves made or anything that seems dangerous howeveer, he's got little reason to do more than he does. Besides, he needs to reclaim his seat at some point.
Vixen looks towards Calex when he comes over, her brow furrowed when she notices the duplicate. "So you mean you weren't relaxing and having a good time?" The young woman leaning back in her chair, brown paper cig lifted slightly. "And you just had to come and make sure we know that?" Her hand shifts, motioning towards the empty spot at their table that isn't populated by a body or a glass. "Anything else? Or is that the one that's real?" She takes a light draw then, the tip glowing softly. Having not been aware of the moment of creation. Kess will get a motion to sit too as he comes up on them.
Calex cocks his head to the side at the odd young woman, "I merely meant, that I wasn't leering, or in anyway harboring inappropriate thoughts." she says, looking a bit taken a back at her coversational tone. His eyes flicker to Leonard, as if looking for help, and he almost speaks again before being interupted by the looming cat-man, "I'm sorry, am I in your way?" he's completely out of his element here, and its obvious to any who would look that he is very much questioning why he is even here.
Leonard wassn't leering, either, once his attention shifted to Calex. He can't withold a chuckle at the apparent discomfort of the dynamically duo'd one. "If you were in his way, I expect that he'd inform you in some manner. Are you adept at occupying two different spaces simultaneously, or are you merely saving the seat for your return?" It is still an interesting trick, regardless.
Kesslan tilts his head slightly at Calex when he poses his question, though Leonard answers it before he can say anything on the matter. Not that the radioactive Pantheran seems to mind any. So instead he poses a question of his own. "You are spirit touched of this Kesslan can see, but is not certain of what manner of thing this..." he says indicating the double not too far away "Is. Of such thing Kesslan seen not before has."
"Of course you were, but there ain't nothing wrong with that," Vixen tells Calex. "People dress to get attention around here. Flaunt and flirt and all that. Why don't you have a seat and relax again." She and Leo are at a table with Calex and Kesslan near. A glass is before her and Leo, another to the side of the table and the noise of a mid class nightclub deep into the swing around them. "Maybe you can teach Kess here how to look and relax. Or Leo can." She glances his way with the lightly prodding and jesting note.
Calex smiles as looks down at the seat offered, and carefully sits himself down, claw-tipped fingers brushing across the table as he whispers an incantation, cleaning the surface before leaning forward, elbows resting on the table in a perfect imitation of his double, "It is mere illusion, just a place holder should I have wished to return to my table, but I think the need for that has passed," he smiles as the image disappears, leaving the table free once more. He smiles, though his eyes take in the cat thoughtfully, "I see they allow some to carry weapons, but not others? Odd, when so many can use magic or psionics, that they'd deprive the less fortunate of a means to defend themselves."
"Ah." Leonard nods to Calex, then leaves him in Kesslan's querying claws for the moment. Vixen's comment draws his attention with an exagerrated attempt at an innocent smile. "I'm not certain that looking is something that can be taught, but I might be able to help with the relaxing. Posssibly. Then again, isn't that what the drink is for?" His glass is lifted so that he can partake of it.
"It is because those with spirit powers granted expected are to better control self. If not then.." The pantheran tilts his head in the direction of a few of the bouncers "Others there here are to peace keep. Is not system perfect, but keep help law and order here. Kesslan is weapons allowed becuase Kesslan in part own this place with Aimee and Desmond both. It is our place, it is our laws in this place. So far, work well for most part does." he says in his attempt to explain, finall reclaiming his previous seat. Though for the time being his drink goes untouched.
Vixen has her eyes on the prize, reaching out to nudge the glass towards Kesslan firmly, her attention fixing on him. "Drink. Relax. One glass won't mess you up. And you're off the clock right now, ain't you? Let the other boys take care of things." Her tone firm and prodding. "And take some advice from these two." Calex and Leo being the two. "Take a look over there at the floor. Appreciate some of the flirting ladies. Or just laugh at the people that can't dance." She grins lightly. She then notes to Calex, "Kess and Leo." Motioning to the two guys with her. "And I'm Vixen."
Calex laughs politely, "Same misconceptions no matter where you go, it seems, though I understand that at some point you have to have faith in the belief that those with power will act appropriately. Such things are paramount for those without power to believe, I think, for anarchy would surely take over if they accepted that power mostly corrupts." he shrugs, still smiling cheerfully, his attention turning to Vixen, "I only meant, that such behaviors are not the norm for me, and I've never actually seen such a place as this, and so I was taken in the moment. A not entirely unpleasant experience though." he grins, offering a wave, his silver tipped fingers flashing, "Calex, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintances."
Leonard lifts his glass to Calex as an acknowledging salute. "A pleasure. Those of us with talents that cannot be disarmed do tend to behave ourselves, for the most part. Occassionally, however, some assistance is necessary." The smile is returned with his own, then turned to Kesslan. "There is nothing amiss with enjoying the view on the floor, although I try not to laugh too hard at the inept. It would be very hypocritical, and an open invitation to reprisals.
"Power is thing that must always controled be by those who have it. Through the guidance of elders and spirits as well as to holding of the Honourable way of Pantheran is one able to live in peace and harmony with society. So too falls it to those with power to bring to justice those who power abuse, for with great power come great responsibility to maintain order lest chaos consume. Should chaos consume the greater whole withers and dies." Kesslan intones in response to Calex "Wisdom of the greater skulls, collected works of Grand Council, first edition. First age of unity, third claw under Atorian Empire occupation." clearly a quote of some sort, and Vixen at least would hear the latter part more or less for the second time today. Which means he's pulling it from.. somewhere, that much she would know. She's also know, in knowing him well that this is abit of a new thing for him so.. something changed. Though what may be abit harder to pin down. There were however several books recovered durring the raid on the base. Ones Kesslan perhaps did not sell off.
"People with power eventually learn that the people that don't got it outnumber them," Vixen states. "And that's why you don't got fucking around, unless you like getting dogpiled." That bit of straightforward 'wisdom' followed by a light slap on the table's top. "Kess! Your drink is waiting for you." Louder this time, as if to cut into the talk and try again to get his priorities where they need to be. The young woman looking half amused, half annoyed as she eyes the feline.
"Have you ever seen mere humans trying to," he pauses, smirking before using the unfamiliar word, "Dogpile a dragon?" he smiles even as he shrugs, "Underestimating true power is always dangerous, but I think this topic is a bit heavier than mood of this place, and I'm content to let it drop in favour of something more casual." One clawed finger raps lightly on the table as he considers his current company, "What is it you all do? You are quite the interesting group, do you all work here together?"
Leonard looses a short laugh at the mental image Calex provokes. "Even a dragon might get indigestion eventually... and we are acquainted. She and I don't work here, but we do have joint ventures more often than not." He then nods his agreement with the cat and the fox, the latter also getting a nudge from his elbow. "Do you need someone to hold him down so you can force him to relax? I can try and find someone to do that."
"Even Kesslan heard tales of have of slayings of dragons by others. Possible it is, if not easy." Kesslan points out. "So too do Pantherans fight Atorian Empire. Easy not is, for they possess power to entire worlds destroy. But possible is to do." he points out. "Though if Seriv can saved be or not, Kesslan knows not. Only knows that there possible is for Pantheran to save." he says, pausing to glance to Vixen as she mentions the drink, the feline's ears perking up a little and his blank eyed gaze turning to her a moment "The drink is not going to leave Vixen." he says simply sounding a touch confused.
"It ain't doing you no good sitting there either," Vixen points out to him. "It's there to relax you and Calex is right. That talk is too big for relaxing time. You should be talking about girls.. or cars or guns or whatever you boys like to talk about when girls ain't around." In fact, that seems to make up her mind. "I'm gunna leave you guys alone. You're on orders to talk about something fun. And I'll be asking Leo later what happened, so don't think you can slack off just cause I ain't gunna be here," she states, rising as she picks up her glass to take a final swallow. She then leans over to press a kiss on Leo's cheek. "It's up to you babe. Don't let me down." She grins lightly.
"I'm under orders to commit espionage against my own gender?" Leonard has nearly as much sincerity as wit in his dismay. No pressure, whatsoever, and he exhales a nearly-sincere sigh. "I'll try. We should definitely discuss women, then. I'm confident that we can find numerous common faults in them to bemoan and debate..." He glances to his male peers in search of some solidarity.
"Human culture is a strange thing." Kesslan observes as he watches Vixen depart and hears Leonard's complaints. Only now does he take a slight sip of his drink. Though notably most of his attention is still locked to the rest of the club. His body slightly tense. But that's just normal Kesslan. Vixen had it right when she said he didnt relax. He has though.. on excessively rare occasion. But thats a rare thing outside of his own little appartment, or that shared by Desmond and Aimee and even then thats depateable beyond a certain extent.
"Yes, you are." Vixen's last words to Leo, mock firm before she turns and just liek that is gone, leaving just a bit of strawberry tequila and the herbal scent of her cigs in her wake. Delayed only a little while at the front before she slips out.
