Jul 10 107 PA - Tirzah takes up poaching
From Chronicles
Galvin is taking some time to scope out this new buisness that has opened up. He is slightly surprised to find it in an apartment building, but what the heck he has converted his own apartment to a workshop. He walks up to the door after a moment and knocks to see what this new buisness is all about.
A moment later the door opens, with no one behind it.. Arcane solutions indeed. "Come in!" A female voice calls from inside the apartment. Which so far is still well within apartment standards but slowly gaining works shop elements. Particularly a medical bed, a workbench and a bin of scrap metal take up one corner. There Tirzah stands, placing a roughed up suit of armor onto the bench.
Galvin frowns slightly at the arcane opening of the door. His hands in his pockets he walks into the apartment to look around. His eyes quickly go to the workbench and bin of scrap, and he examines them with an expert eye before looking at the suits of armor. "Hi. How is it going? I heard about your buisness and thought I would come check you out."
The scrap probably draws some attention. It is very much so beyond use for contemporary repairs. It looks like she went to a manufacturer and bought what they couldn't use. "Hello, I'm Tirzah, its going good. Welcome to Arcane Solutions. You have a particular problem you want us to consider or just come to see our capabilities?" She asks before grabbing a handful a scrap and putting it on the bench with the armor.
Galvin watches Tirzah put the scrap on the bench with the armor and he raises an eyebrow as he adjusts his glasses with a finger. "Uh I was just looking to see what sort of things you offer. What sort of services and what not. I really have no use for magic. I just thought I would come see though."
Galvin watches Tirzah put the scrap on the bench with the armor and he raises an eyebrow as he adjusts his glasses with a finger. "Uh I was just looking to see what sort of things you offer. What sort of services and what not. I really have no use for magic. I just thought I would come see though."
"Well that's probably what would make Arcane Solutions perfect for you. We use the magic so you dont have to." Tirzah explains in the perfect sales pitch tone as she places her hand into a gemmed recepticle on the bench. Immediately the armor is enveloped by a blue glow and slowly over the next 14 seconds the scrap put on the bech disolves as the armor is repaired a bit. Once done Tirzah nods, withdrawing her hand. "On general terms we offer repairs, healing, and intensive combat training."
Galvin's expression quickly turns to one of disgust as he shakes his head while watching the armor get repaired. "So you use your magical powers to put honest working people out of work it look like. Same story those with power taking away from those without. Magic is the most undemocratic force ever." He says in a quick manner with a hint of anger to his voice as he looks at the partially repaired armor again.
Tirzah pauses, considering Galvin carefully after his comment drew a slight cough of show. "Excuse me? Did you see a line outside my door I was not aware of? I'm not stealing work from anyone. I'm offering a viable alternative that has pros and cons." She explains before gestruing him over to see the bench. The blue hue persists, still using the magical energy Tirzah pumped into it. "See for yourself, I've repaired about five percent of this armor's capacity and Im drained. Thats it. I could repair ten percent if I went to draw from a leyline. My other casting employee will repair another five percent. It will take use four to eight days to repair this one suit of armor. Any competant mechanic could do so in a day. Its an exchange of price for time."
Galvin shrugs his shoulders as he looks around. "Well price is what holds a market usually. I could likely repair that in half a day, but who can beat your prices. And who knows what crazy ways you might get more energy to do more work. You'll ruin the market since all you need is more energy. I can repair most armor in a day or half a day. As long as it is fixable. I need actual materials though. All you need is bullcrap energy. I mean you just pay a couple credits to people for their energy and there you go. You have turn around time as well. A regular guy can't compete."
Tirzah peers speculatively at Galvin, looking to find his carrying on a bit much. "You really have no idea about pricing in the magic sector. It would cost a fortune for me to hire the mages to give that type of daily output. I couldnt turn a profit that way. This only works while it is small and convenient for those not in a hurry. Being in a hurry costs more, simple as that. And i do need materials, that scrap may cost half the price of what you would need to use but it is an expense none the less. I wont ruin any markets, I cant handle enough volume to ruin markets. I can only handle enough to profit me and my employees."
Galvin puts his hands in his pockets and rocks back and forth on his boots. "Well maybe. I guess we will have to see. What happens if there is more then just armor damage. Does that thing repair wiring or circuit boards as well?" He asks before he adjusts his glasses again with a finger.
Tirzah nods. "It can, that gets more complicated though. It only fixes hardware. Software or electrical shorts have to handles by normal means. It does not assemble, all components have to properly attached." She explains with a gesture. "I am looking at bring some cybernetics in here to give it a real limits test to give me a better idea of that sort of repairs."
Galvin nods his head slowly as he takes another look at the work bench. "Just doesn't seem right. I mean what's the point of having all this training if you can be replaced with a magical thing just like that?" He says with a sigh before shrugging his shoulders.
Tirzah shakes her head slowly. "Replaced? This bench could never replace you. This bench can only restore structural integrity. Is that the pinnacle of your trade? Smoothing out dents and such?" She asks, keen to turn things around now that she has some insight.
Galvin shakes his own head as he gnaws for a moment on his lower lip. "Hell no. I can do anything with technology you can think of. From designing weapons or force fields to making modifications to vehicles. Whatever you can think of." He says with some obvious pride.
Tirzah nods slightly. "Right so I make a bench that does the gruntwork for you and you're complaining becuase you like the grunt work? Or because you have no such bench and no energy to waste like we do? We could use someone to cover the more technicle applications of the trade actually. Then you would have the bench at hand, and wont be wasting your time on patchworks." She points out and offers, her selling smile returned.
Galvin shakes his head again. "No I am complaining that you are undercutting the price so I can't make money fixing armor to finance the other projects I want to work on. I mean grunt work pays the bills after all. Oh? Well what would you pay?"
Tirzah shrugs at the fact she has lower prices, clearly still of the opinion there is enough business to go around. Nine hundred credit a week salary. We split commission for special jobs equally as they come up." She says openly, being very transparent about her business model. "I think the first thing I'd ask you to look into making is an eclip charger.."
Galvin frowns slightly as he nods his head. "Well for an eclip charger you need a serious power supply. Do you have a nuke battery? Cause I could hook it up likely if you did, but those are damm expensive." He says quickly intrigued by the problem.
Tirzah nods at the predicament. "I know where there is a damaged one. But it may be too far gone as it is leaking radiation You'd be the best judge of that though. Otherwise I'd be happy to take a jaunt up north to grab one for you." She proposes right off the bat. "It'd quickly pay for any expenses we make in acquiring it after all. And with it it would be owrth while to look into energy shields for our offered combat training. If you can make them for cheaper than a technowizard that is."
"Well I can take a look at it and then I'll be able to tell you. I'll have to makes sure my armor is rated high enough for the radiation. I think it is though. We will have to see. As for technowizard crap that is only good for a few people. Everyone else needs technology. That is what makes an item worth owning."
"We'll have to evict its inhabitant first. So are you taking the job then? Should I make that a priority?" Tirzah asks, looking to Galvin keenly now.
"Well if you get me close enough to a robot or power armor I can just take it over. I think that would be more valuable. Then we can just buy our own reactor and not have to jury rig something, but that is just an idea." Galvin says with a quick shrug of his shoulders. "Well I already work for a company so you would have to give me a week or two to give my notice, but I guess so. Lets see how it goes."
Tirzah nods, and extends her hand to shake on the deal. "Excellent. We'll have to talk more on that reactor. It's currently possessed by an entity, not sure how that would work with psionic control. I should be able to get someone who can exocise it easily enough though and then it will be all clear."
Galvin takes Tirzah's hand and shakes it as he nods his head. "Maybe we can work on financing some weapon design work as well." He mentions in passing as he shakes Tirzah's hand.
