Kingsdale - Draconic Secrets

Draconic Secrets is an unusual shop for an unusual shop owner. It is one of the only places in all of North America, and the only one in all of Kingsdale that offers Dragon Juicer conversion. However since candidates for this conversion tend to be a bit scare the store also offers an assortment of TW devices, alchemical mixes and components. That's not all however, as the store specializes in catering not only to Momano Headhunters but also specializes in biosystem replacements aimed at aging and injured wizards and other magic and psionic users who tend to go out of their way to avoid cybernetics in order to preserve their abilities.

The front of the store clearly caters to those of a magical bent. An assortment of basic alchemical potions, powders and other ingredients takes up a small corner of the store, while techno-wizard devices fill the rest of the available space. The range of techno-wizard devices range from fairly common TW converted grenades, missiles and guns to a showcase of some of the most bizarre devices ever conceived. Some with practical applications, while others which are little better than fancy toys. These days the store is staffed mostly by apprentices though sometimes one can still catch the store owner Regius behind the counter or dealing with high profile customers.

Celaeno arrives from the street. Celaeno has arrived.

Nemain putters around the shop. A dust rag in one hand as she dusts the display of TW items. A soft tune whistled between her teeth as she works. Just another of hte varried staff, right?

Celaeno steps through the door, coat wrapped around her tightly to fend off the freezing weather. Upon entry, she quickly skirts to the edge of the store, eyeing the merchandise with a peculiar glint in her eye. The current game time is: Sun Jan 29 05:33:28 107 PA.

Nemain glances up with the jingle of the door. A small grin showing as she turns towards the customer. "Morning. How may we be of service to you this morning?" The dust rag getting tucked into a back pocket as she turns to approach.

Eyeing a rack of dried plants with what can only be described as a wary eye, Celaeno glances up at the approaching woman with a small grunt. "Just thinking. I was looking for another present for a friend," she opens. "Got a sword from here for another one a while back, and figured I'd come and see what kind of selection you've got, or what you might be able to do custom."

Nemain ahhs and nods. "I see. What sort is this friend you are shopping for? We do indeed to custom work as well as filling orders for more of hte usual breed of items wanted."

"Well, I've got two basic ideas, really. A lot of it depends on cost, but..." Celaeno waffles for a moment, one hand apparently grasping for the words, "Well, we'll see. Last time I gave an ice-sword thing. It was pretty standard - didn't do anything special. And I was thinking about a complementary one, something that might actually freeze them in place in addition to cutting them down, y'know?"

Nemain hmms and nods to that. "I can think of a couple versions of things that might be able to do what you request. And your second idea? So that we know where we are looking cost wise."

Celaeno nods, digressing briefly before getting to the question, "Well, we can look at pricing before you get started - a ballpark estimate's more than fine. But I was thinking, maybe another sword - or even a knife? Maybe a main-gauche - if you could figure out what differences the sizing would have on the end product it'd be nice." Her eyebrows are furrowed as she finally gets around to the point, "Well, I was thinking something that'd primarily be for parrying or deflecting - maybe if you could have it send a shock, or burn or somehow respond to the attacker when it was used to deflect a blow..."

Nemain hmms softly at the second idea. "A parrying blade that gives them something to think of when it is used. I like it. The trouble might be with getting the something to travel though non-conductive materials." She frowns slightly in thought, one hand lifting to tap lightly at her lower lip. "Interesting challenge. I would have to check with my boss. But the first is probably in the 200 to 250 thousand range. Depending on avalibility of materials. The second, well that could run from about 80 thousand towards 300 tousand depending on what size and materials need ot be used. And of course size too."

One of Celaeno's eyebrows raise, considering the prices briefly, "Well, I'll let you double-check and see if you can't puzzle out some of the details and possibilities, hmm? I'm fairly open to whatever you think'd be best and easiest, so long as the sword itself is balanced and fits the basic idea. I'll come back at some point and leave you the easiest way to reach me, so you can send a runner when you've worked out some of the kinks. Sound good?"

Nemain nods, "It does sound fair. The pricing should be firmed up more after I consult with the boss. The custom deflector blade, how large would you prefer it?" She pulls out some paper to start sketching thoughts on. "Dagger to short sword length? So about 6 inches upwards to 14 inches at the top end of the range?" She nibbles at her lower lip. "Bell guard on it, or something more along the lines of a knuckle duster so it can be used for a punch attack as well in close fighting?"

Celaeno peers at the paper for a few seconds, taking in the questioning, "Well, I think I might like it toward the longer side of things, I think they'd tend to prefer a basket on the other sword, but a simple cross-guard or a bell would work. If it's going to be a sabre, though, then I think a basket would look better."

Nemain nods as she notes that down. She even starts a little bit of sketching to shape the blade about mid-length then. "Maybe up to about 20" then. Basket hilt. Did you want it to bolster the reaction time as well as arc something back up the blade it's parrying? Or add to how hard it hits?"

Celaeno considers the question for a few moments, "The less intensive the power demands, I think the better, but if you can somehow balance it and proportion it so that it's quicker to get around, that'd be better. I'd rather have it just ... I guess like you said, arc something back at whatever it's parrying, just so it gives them a bit of a jolt - something to make them think about it."

Nemain nods as she notes that down as well. "Fair enough. Is this person who's getitng it going to be able to charage it themselves? Or did you want a battery of sorts in it to hold a charge from someoen else?"

Celaeno says, "They should be able to, but it's always nice to keep those sorts of things low, because all the energy they use getting their weapons working is just going to tire them out for later, and in any sort of extended encounter..." she shrugs.

Nemain nods as she notes that down. "So what we're looking at is a large dagger or small sword that has a bell guard hilt incast a punch has to be used in close fighting. Some form of shock generated with the parrying. Perhaps a small battery to help lessen the costs in battle. I think I'll run that past the boss then as two different options. Any special engravings or materials you'd like to see?"

"Nothing in particular - though I should note I'd rather the guard be more designed to simply protect the hand than to be considered for something offensive. I mean, that's what the blade's for, after all," Celaeno grins at the woman for a moment before continuing, "And nothing comes to mind. Though it is a gift, so I'd like it to look nice, in any case."

Nemain nods as she notes that the guard is more for protection that needing to be beefed up incase the user were to have supernatural strength. "Alright. I think that should be enough. Hopefully I can get that runner out to you in the next day or two. I'll also include the expected time frame for get the items done in. Does that sound fair?"

"It all sounds good to me, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with," Celaeno says with a smile. "You need any more information, or is that fine?"

Nemain shakes her head slightly, setting her hair to dancing as she offers with a grin. "Other than a name to place on the order, no. You already said you'd let us know where to send the runner if you're not already in our files from ordering before."

"Name's Cel," Celaeno says, mouth widening into a smirk, "Sorry about that. Must've slipped my mind. They might have something written down about the last order, who knows?" She reaches for the pen, waiting for it to be given up, to try to jot down her address on the piece of paper.

Nemain nods as she offers the pen over as she sees you're waiting for it. "Alright then. We'll have a solid quote out to you in about a day or so. Then after you choose which option you are after we can get working on it."

Celaeno nods merrily, "Thank you very much. I look forward to seeing what you come up with." And with one final wave, she strides to the door, slipping out and down the street as quickly as casually possible. You have just received a vote.

Nemain sighs in relief as she notes that several of the items in the shop start working again. "This will be an interesting build. Hmm... Makes me wonder if there is a way to either harness or counteract that abiltity."
