Gabriel
From Chronicles
Gabriel is an older man for the active Kingsdale lifestyle, just a bit over 40 as belied by demeanor and appearance. It is open now that he was a member of the US Marine Corps Special Operations Branch in WWII, units called the Raiders. It is also implied that he was with a more shadow organization as well, though he doesn't speak openly of any of his activities. The man also references family and faith very often.

Description
Gabriel is a rather unusual conundrum. He's older than most everyone else, sometimes significantly older. It's quite clear that he's just a squishy, everyday human with not so much as a teaspoon of psychic hiccup, and standing only about 5'4" to make up for the deficiency. Though a short man, he makes up for it in confidence and guile. He doesn't belong here, and he doesn't belong now. He has a weak spot for the female gender, but in a good way. Honoring them, respecting them far above what is common, treating them as "they deserve to be treated," even if sometimes this means that he may possibly seem a little patronizing. A good looking man who possibly makes himself blend into the crowd deliberately. Everything known about him seems to point to him just wanting to be another citizen. Just a citizen who does good deeds on top of everyday mundane jobs. He's kind, polite and of strong Roman Catholic religious faith. Day to day, his Kentucky drawl cannot be missed.
Though he arrived in Kingsdale with a burning hatred of those who had killed his wife open their arrival in this world, he has proven himself to be a good man, looking out for those who can't help themselves. He doesn't take jobs that have no redeeming purpose, he doesn't take jobs simply because someone's offering money. True, he has a dark side hiding in his mental shadows, but almost all of him is a very nice, good man.
WYSKA
- Gabriel came to Kingsdale at some unknown time in autumn of 107 PA. Unknown, because he honestly doesn't know.
- A fairly well known guy around the city for various reasons.
- Known to accept jobs in private investigation, escort, security and other "commercial" jobs in those fields.
- Been seen coming and going on a few genuine military operations of both known and unknown purpose.
- He is from Kentucky, wherever or whatever that is, speaks with a thick drawl, and has been known to mention the United States, the Marine Corps, and occasionally "The Company."
- He lost a very beloved wife shortly before arriving in Kingsdale.
- Very little seems to phase the man. Not intimidation through threats or similar, though neither is he stupid, riding off into battle with nothing known.
- Lives happily somewhere outside the city walls, and no weather yet seems to put a damper on him.
- While he does not have any ill-will toward psychics, mages, D-Bees, aliens, and so on, neither does he seem to have such a great space in his heart for those who continually show off these unusual talents or even speak of them continually and at length. To be fair, that can be annoying with "normal" skills as well.
- He does, at times, speak openly (though quietly) with an unnamed person at his side who as far as anyone else can determine, does not exist. More that just talk, sometimes, but almost one side of an actual conversation. As the months roll on, this activity is decreasing.
- He may not be the fastest or the strongest, but if you want something done, he will find a way, no matter how long it takes. Endurance and persistence is a point of personal pride.
- The man should be known for his combination of honesty, kindness, and a fierce brutality that comes not as immediate snap vengeance, but through careful planning and execution. As his apparent mantra goes: "In certain extreme situations, the Law is inadequate. In order to shame its inadequacy, it is necessary to act outside the law. To pursue natural justice. This is not vengeance. Revenge is not a valid motive, it's an emotional response. Not vengeance. Punishment."
Hooks
- Gabriel is becoming more and more competent, more and more sought-out for missions of importance beyond the mundane.
- He's somewhat of a babe in this world, with all of its oddities continuing to surprise him, from politics to powers. However, at this point he is obviously getting used to it.
- Does not take jobs for mercenary money. Instead, he takes them for what is right, and good, and just. If money comes of it after the fact, that's fine. But you should never allow your soul to be purchased on someone else's whim.
- It's obvious that he's the type of man who most people would want on their side; but he only accepts violent action if he believes it is a good and necessary thing, not something to be done for money, fame or knee-jerk reaction.
