Having staked out a spot on the ancient couch, Sage has already started to play with a beaded strand of hair. She has been quiet for a little bit as she thinks over the coming auction and the coming encounter with Kid. She occasionally glances towards the entrance as if expecting Kid to arrive at any moment. "Maybe I should make something to drink..." She says distractedly, ignoring the mug of still steaming beverage in front of her.
Caliopa has her one red dress out, flung over the couch's arm, and she is sitting on the floor, inelegantly sprawled out. "There is beer." She offers helpfully, giving a quick warm smile, utterly missing the more subtle signs. She does scramble to her feet, heading kitchenwards to get a bottle. "Do you want one? I ain't much for drinkin' but seems sociable..." She calls from the kitchen, bent over to peer into the fridge.
Kid comes a calling. Though today, she's decided to forgo her normal armored garb. Half regretting the cozy warmth of that environmentally controlled suit despite the other discomforts inherent. But once she's inside the building, heading for Cali's door, she relaxes some. She is already unzipping the heavier overcoat she wears over her current garb when she comes to the door. Giving a firm knock on the door.
Sage's gaze slides over to Caliopa, offering a similar smile in return. "Mmm... don't open it yet, but get me one." She says, "Thanks." She glances down, finally remembering the mug there and takes a sip from it. It is after that, that the knock on the door comes. Setting down the mug, she rises to her feet and walks over to the door to open. "Hey... come in." She says sedately, opening the door and standing off to the side to let Kid enter.
Caliopa returns to the livingroom, offering Sage the unopened bottle with a quick grin. "Hey Kid, you want one?" She asks, glancing between the two women. "I got another..." As if lack of beer might be a genuine issue tonight. "Got my red dress still, 'member that?" She opens her own beer, leaning against the kitchen's doorframe, smiling a little, brown eyes warm.
Kid has a generally neutral expression, though when the door opens with Sage being right there, Kid's lips do tighten slightly. But that's all. She enters as bidden, hands sunk into her coat's pockets. Her expression does relax slightly when she sees Cali, but her overall mood remains modest. "Don't much care for beer," Kid replies honestly enough, slipping her coat off once the cold is shut out entirely. She looks towards the dress as she folds the coat over one arm. "Been a while.. you sure you wanna wear something like that to this?" As if it could be a bad idea.
Sage turns to Cali when she hands over a beer, "Thanks." She says, holding it but deciding not to open it just yet. As the conversation shifts briefly between Kid and Cali, she makes her way over to the coffee table to put the beer down. She takes up the mug and begins to sip from it once more. She listens to the conversation and glances towards the dress in question. She is far from knowing the latest fashion herself.
Caliopa's smile fades at the comment and she glances at the dress, giving it a considering look before muttering. "Guess it ain't gonna suit now, ..." She moves to the sofa, picking it up and tossing it into a pile on the floor. From what is visible, it is deep red, with a flared skirt that reaches the knee, and a low back. She drops herself into the corner of the couch, pushing a smile back on her face. "So what you got?"
"Ain't like this is a real date, Cali.. and you don't wanna have no assumptions made," Kid says, though she does go over to pick up the dress itself. It might not be appropriate for this, but one mustn't mistreat fashion. She lays her coat over the back of the couch, then goes about straightening up the red dress as she considers. "Well.. you want something nice. Something casual that won't have no one assuming anything, but not frumpy or grungy." Her tone thoughtful as she considers.
Sage steps carefully around as the focus of the group seems to come to the couch. "At least you have a dress..." She murmurs, with a hint of humour to Cali as she comes to stand beside her. The mug within her hand still. She purses her lips as Kid speaks, still deciding that she'll watch, listening and perhaps learn as well.
Caliopa looks up at Kid, glancing over to the dress. "I wasn't even thinkin' of the date, jus' the do at the club..." She mumbles, leaning her head back against the couch, taking a quick swig of the beer. "Ain't likely anyone'd bid anyhow, 'n' I'll be stood up there like some lemon." She sighs, glancing at Sage. "You could wear my frock if you like." She offers.
"Yeah, but if you go down there in a dress like this, guys might assume what you'd do on a date." Kid's sage advice given, with the utmost of personal knowledge. Very knowledgeable this one, on the ways of boys. She then gives Cali a firm look. "Don't start downing yourself. You should know how guys look at you all the time." She goes to the back of the couch, laying the dress over it lightly, with the same sort of care she shows her keyboards. "Good jeans are a start. Not any with holes or rips.. no stains. None of that." She eyes Cali. "You got any like that?"
Sage's gaze looks at the dress, while Kid's words are spoken. A thoughtful look comes to her features, and her eyes unfocus a little bit. "I'm not sure..." She says non-commitally. She falls quiet as the suggestions continue. "Might be able to help accessorize... but I haven't really got enough clothes to start lending yet."
Doubt crawls into Caliopa's eyes as she mentally scans her wardrobe and Kid's question is answered with a shake of her head. "I got new combat pants..." She offers doubtfully. "Desmond made it sound like it is a real flash do though. I don't want to let them down. Mebbe I should tell him I can't do it..." She leans forward, hugging her knees to her chest. "Accessorize?" She asks.
Kid purses her lips faintly. "Ain't hard to buy some and it ain't like you don't got funds for something new." She leans against the back of the couch with both hands braced. "You'll want em snug, but comfortable. Black is good.. it goes with everything. That way you can mix it up a little. You'll want a nice top.. a blouse maybe. Not too fancy." Her eyes move towards Sage, mutely mimicking the questioning of accessories.
Sage takes a moment to drain the rest of the mug now that the temperature has cooled off. "I've... accumulated a few things as a gift for helping others." She gives a shrug, "Money was often just a tool where I came from." She moves over to sit down beside Cali as the woman begins to show doubt and begins to re-think. "My offer is only good if you go, though." She softly reminds, offering a one-armed hug around Cali's back. "Not that I'd mind." Bemusement showing in her eyes.
Caliopa's doubt shows in her face and in the sigh. "I ain't got the right things to wear, 'n' ain't nobody goin' to want to date me with scars 'n' all..." She accepts the one armed hug, giving Sage a quick lopsided smile of thanks. "I oughta do it, for the hospital but it ain't somethin', I mean dressin' up and the like." She sighs again, finishing her bottle of beer.
"Goddamn it Cali!" Kid thumps the back of the couch with both hands. "I'm getting pretty damn tired of you downing on yourself all the time. "Maybe you got some scars.. Don't doubt it with the accident and all, but shit like that can be erased. A little cred, a little surgery and you won't even be able to tell. Hell, some partials you wouldn't even know had metal in em at all!" She points at Cali as she adds, "And you can sure as hell bet that guys are gunna bid on you. Hell, even if you dressed in some frumpy dress they'd probably still bid on you. So just quit with all that, would ya?"
Sage tries to give a re-assuring smile to Cali, but she frowns slightly as begins to realize that the woman has some underlying insecurities. She thinks for a moment, allowing Kid to - just about - lecture Cali on how men will be interested in bidding. Her own face lights up after a moment and gets a mildly mischeivous look in her eyes as she leans in to whisper into Cali's ear. Complete with hand cupping the sound to keep move of it escaping. About half-way through the whisper, Sage gives a little shiver, as if remembering something pleasurable.
Caliopa jumps, giving Kid a startled look, before flaring up in reply, her cheeks flushing. "Might seem that way to you, but I ain't that sure of it." She settles down quickly though, and sighs, when Sage whispers to her. A startled look to the other woman before she sees the mischief in her face and then Caliopa giggles, shaking her head. "I guess I'm bein' stupid." She admits softly. "I don't want to go, 'n' be just Cali, that garage girl. If I'm gonna do it, I guess I want to be real pretty for once."
Kid frowns faintly at Sage as she says something lowly to Cali. A natural edge of suspicion rising. It lingers vaguely as she straightens and moves around the edge of the couch. "You don't gotta wear a dress to be pretty, Cali. Jeans don't make you a garage girl. That grease you usually got on you and stuff like that.. that makes you a garage girl. As to how things seem look here." She comes to stand right in front of Cali and bends over a little, whilst using a hand to flip her hair up and back from the right side of her head, exposing her neck. She cranes her head enough that one can see just behind the tim of her left ear a small dataport. The headjack she has installed in her head. The flesh around it looks pristine, as if the tiny mechanical blemish grew naturally from within her. "Does that look like they cut into my head and put some metal in there? It don't, does it? Ain't no horrible scars or nothing, right?"
Sage likely doesn't even notice the frown as she pays more attention to the side of Cali's head given the nature of the whisper. She pulls back, smiling as the woman giggles to her suggestion. "That's right, you just leave the plain Jane stuff to me." She comments, with faint amusement. She moves to sit with her back to the couch and almost seems to stare into space for a moment or two. Her finger lightly playing with her hair, and a smile coming to her lips. Perhaps, forming an idea of how to cheat the system and get what she wants at the same time.
Caliopa sighs, looking up at Kid's ear. "That ain't like a great big slice across your chest." She comments softly. "Reckon I'll wear the red dress, 'n' mebbe get somethin' that covers up the piece of the scar that shows..." Her face takes on a stubborn look Kid would be familiar with, as she glances back across at Sage, questioningly. "You ain't plain!" The honesty in those words is obvious and Caliopa shakes her head. "Ought to try it on though, I ain't worn it in a year nearly."
Kid straightens up and frowns faintly. "Hey, this is your thing.. personally I think the whole idea is pretty dumb anyway. If you want to risk it, it's on you." She glances at Sage, considering her looks idly. But she doesn't choose to comment on them. She looks back to Cali then and says., "You wanna cover up, get a wrap. Maybe some fake fur. Something dark brown.. or black maybe." She glances towards the dress, then back towards Cali.
A fantasy begins to blossom in her mind until the 'You ain't plain!' comment comes in and shatters it, Sage a faint noise of complaint at the lost moment before looking back toward the other two. "Mmm? Does that mean I have to be dressy too?" She asks, hoping to keep the last of the imaginary sand from her idea from drifting through her fingers. "Not that I have anything." She adds quietly.
Caliopa shrugs, a quick movement, as a faint flush rises in her cheeks. "Kinda be nice, you know, to be real pretty, like a ..." She trails off, chewing her lower lip, her face thoughtful. "You know, jus' so folks don't think of you like a mate all the time. One of the lads." The glance away from both of them is marked by the rise in colour in her cheeks. "Reckon I'll try it on." She finishes lamely, getting up from the couch to reach for the red dress again, turning away to pull her t-shirt over her head, to match actions to words and not at all to cover the blush.
Kid looks towards Sage. "Why would it mean anything for you? You can dress however you want far as I can see." Of course, the girl isn't privy to the talk that's been going on between the two. She looks back to Cali and rolls her eyes a little at the line she lays down. "Cali, dresses ain't what makes you real pretty. You are pretty already. And if guys are seeing you as 'one of the boys' then they need to get their eyes checked. I dunno why you keep thinking that." But she'll wait otherwise while Cali puts the dress on.
"Thank you." Sage says, quite pleased to Kid as she takes the comment deliberately out of context. A grin comes to her lips, "Perhaps I try for a bush woman look..." She says softly and begins rubs her hands together, getting quite the look of mischief on her face. She avoids looking to Cali, as if it would mean the other woman wouldn't comment. She falls quiet, listening to the rest of the conversation.
Caliopa pulls the dress over her head, keeping her back to the others as she does so, glancing over her shoulder as she shakes it out over her hips. "Dresses don't hurt sometimes." She comments, her cheeks as red as the dress itself. "'n' I guess sometimes, you kinda want someone ..." She turns, showing the dress off. It almost covers the scar on her breast bone, and perhaps the combat pants under it don't go so well. "Reckon this'd do it?"
Kid gives Sage an odd look. "Yeah.. have fun with that," she murmurs, obviously not thinking too much of the idea. She looks back to Cali and nods. "Yeah.. for real dates they don't hurt. But this ain't a real date." When Cali turns back around, Kid's eyes flick slightly towards the hint of that scar. But only briefly and not again before she walks over to Cali to check the dress. "Sometimes you want someone to what?" Her words lower, tone a bit less.. flinty. Asked as she tugs here and there at it, seeing how the dress fits. "Looks ok.. though the pants don't help," she notes, eyes lifting to meet Cali's.
If it wasn't clear before, Sage knows for sure that Kid either hasn't been told by Cali or just plain doesn't care. Either way, it works into her mischievous line of thought for the time being. She dares to look over to Cali as she asks about the dress. She considers it, with pursed lips. "Could work..." Sage says, "Might have something like a scarf or something to lend." She adds, before she considers the interaction between the other two woman. She is half-expecting the other shoe to drop soon enough from Cali, but the other woman seems caught up in her own thoughts.
"Notice me a piece." Caliopa mutters, frowning down at the dress before wiggling out of her combats to see if it improves matters. Her cheeks don't lose the blush and she holds out her arms, looking questioningly at both women. "Reckon it'd do? Ain't for the date, it is for the auction do. Get some cash in for that hospital..." A stubborn set to her face reappears. "Figure goin' on a date ain't gonna harm, 'n' might not be so bad. I mean, it ain't all about sleepin' with someone 'n' not goin' no place nice, right?"
"Maybe not for you, Cali, but guys got their own way of thinking," Kid tells her as she checks the dress carefully. "It fits good still.. and looks good, ain't been used too much." Her eyes lift, a casual grin coming up with that. "YOu tell me one person you had problems getting to notice you and I'll drop the whole subject," she adds. Sage's suggestion on a scarf gets a nod.
Sage hms softly, "Just give me a sec..." She rises from her seat on the couch and scoots into the spare room that she resides within, before coming back in a few moments with an elegant silk scarf that has the right colours to complement the dress. "There's a brouch with it too, but I'll have to find that later." She says, moving to drape it across Cali's front to double check.
Caliopa's expression as she glances at Kid holds some irritation and she frowns. "I ain't tellin' you a name. Ain't important, not really." Even so her cheeks are pink, and studies the effect of the scarf thoughtfully. "It'll do. Ain't even sure if he is goin'." She wiggles out of both the dress and the scarf, handing the one back to Sage, reaching for her t-shirt. "Ain't no matter. Ain't like either of us are into the other. Not like that." She shakes her head quickly. "Um, thanks for that. If you ain't worried, I'll borrow that, 'n' get some jeans for the date ..."
Kid continues to fuss at the dress when Sage goes, a more serious face put forth when it comes to something such as this. Sage's return draws Kid from her inspections, the scarf eyed critically as Sage displays it. "Not bad," she murmurs, tone only a bit grudging. "If it wasn't important, then you wouldn't be so worked up. But if you don't wanna say, fine. Ain;t like I tell you everything anyway." With the choices and decision made, Kid will step back and lightly cross her arms over her chest.
Sage considers Cali and the discussion that's being had, "And, cheer up, you'll be too worried about being embarrassed by me standing beside you while you're waiting... twigs in my hair, dirt on my face, and the worst of my two wildnerness clothes on." She gives a wink, before slips away under the pretense of putting the scarf away.
Caliopa gives Sage a quick grin, wrinkling her nose. "It ain't important, jus' sex." She mumbles, pulling on her combat pants. "Sage! I'm gonna head back to Kalvin's!" She calls loudly, reaching for her coat and bag, before turning to Kid. "It ain't like I never had sex before, 'n' I figured you know, kinda needful to Kalvin, 'n' I weren't sleepin' well alone so..." She shrugs, pulling on her coat and practically rushing out of the door.
Kid blinks at the rapid and rather disjointed set of information tossed her way. Probably one thing that keeps her response on the low is that she doesn't fully parse half of it. "I know you have.." She frowns as Cali rushes on her way, precluding any real depth of response. She breathes out lowly and shakes her head slightly.
Sage comes wandering back out, looking faintly disappointed that she didn't even manage to rouse a protest from Cali. The rest of the conversation hasn't seemed to phase her at all. "So..." She says, looking to Kid as if wondering what to do now.
Kid looks back to Sage and frowns faintly. After a moment of thought she asks, "So what have you two been talking about.. it's obvious something is going on.. what, she banging that Kalvin person?" Of course, given that Kid doesn't really know Kalvin all that well, hard for her to really form an opinion on the matter, even should that be true.
Sage ends up leaning against the wall, "Heck if I know whether she's banging half the city or not." She says frankly, "Been some disturbing visions going around with this fog... and... I guess I did offer her to go along with her into that auction thing." She says, giving a one shoulder shrug with the side that isn't leaning against a wall. "Good pants and a blouse, you said?" She raises a brow.
"I kinda already guessed you were going on this thing," Kid replies. "And yeah.. dark jeans and a blouse..whatever color suits you, so long as it ain't too loud or obnoxious. Simple and effective without being too showy or suggestive. Plenty of clothes places down at the Plaza, not too expensive either." Sage nods, "Guess that'll work well enough." She says, before pausing with a thoughtful look at Kid. "Don't suppose you've had any visions lately about undead, plagues, or something like that recently?" She tilts her head slightly as she waits for an answer.
Kid frowns faintly. "No, I don't got not powers and crap," she replies. Her tone carrying a bit of an edge in saying as much. She pauses, seeming to find a gap that doesn't carry any natural sort of response.. at least, not one she's willing to add. Instead, she drags up, "When it comes to this.. date thing, you just make sure Cali don't get in no trouble.. she's on the rebound, she don't need to be bouncing into some jerk that ain't gunna treat her right. S'why this is a bad idea for her."
Sage ignores the edge in the tone, as it has been used fairly often already. She walks over to coffee table to pick up the beer, but she doesn't open it. Instead, she just seems to hold it. She looks back to Kid. "If it is within my ability... I will do my best." She says, "Not sure how these so-called dates are supposed to work anyway... might happen at the same time." She begins to walk for the kitchen then, "I'm going to be heading out in a moment." She says, as if to nudge this conversation to a close in the near future.
"Right.. bye." There might be a sort of peace between the two, but Kid hasn't leaned into the happy fun feel of things yet. Of course, she has a lot on her mind and it all does little to help her overall mood. She snatches up her coat and starts getting into it, even as she's going to the door. She'll be out in a few moments, nudging it closed behind her. Tags: caliopa, kid, sage
