Kingsdale - Advanced Idea Mechanics
The garage area of Advanced Idea Mechanics is an extremely large single room, with a chemically treated (MDC) concrete floor. The walls, unlike those of the office are completely undecorated, giving the place a spartan, industrial feel. Which is fitting, considering the bustling of activity that is being undergone in this place. Most often, a suit of power armor or two is being worked on and occasionally a giant robot can be seen encased in scaffolding along one wall. At one time or another, just about any kind of job is visible being done. From weapon reloading, to repairs to outright radical modification. And it isn't just confined to robots and power armor, either. The occasionally light armored vehicle and even main battle tank are seen here on occasion. To help with the work itself the ceiling is fitted with huge cranes that move on mobile tracks, allowing them to lift into place things like weapons and giant robot limbs. For working on the latter as well, a massive support construct has been built into one wall complete with a crane of it's own, providing means to lift and secure for repair a robot that is missing both legs if required. Other equipment, from spot welders to laser torches to electronic toolkits can be found on benches and the like all through the area. As you watch, men in exoskeletons, sometimes assited by a vehicle or a crane carry things from two rooms visible down a short yet wide hallway, slipping under large blast doors. These doors close automatically behind whomever leaves, indicating perhaps that volatile materials are stored within.
A few days has passed sense the day that Dreke left his Hovercycle at the AIM Garage. He left that day to research the strange visions that everyone seems to be having, though he came up short. Also, he would have to admit that the garage was full of crazy people and massive robots... so he kind of felt out of place. However, with all that in mind! The Knight was generally unafraid of anything happening to his bike. This was because he had met the person who was in charge, and formed a sense of trust with Caliopa. Today, Dreke was returning to the garage, the knight doesn't bother much with his cloak as he steps in. For once, he doesn't mind if everyone sees his armor or not. Looking around the main room, Dreke continues to make his way inwards. "Hello?" he calls out.
A motorbike, an ancient enfield, is in pieces on a blanket. Sat cross-legged on the blanket, Caliopa has her eyes closed, her face a mask of concentration as she holds a small piece of the engine in both hands. She turns it over slowly, but jumps at the call, lifting unfocussed eyes towards him. "Um hello..." She blinks several times, refocussing, and shakes her head quickly before she manages a grin. It dimples her cheeks and warms her eyes. "Hello... come to check on your bike?"
Dreke takes a look around the garage for a moment, pausing to look over all the large vehicles. He was from a small town in the past, so he had seen nothing like this before. After gazing around the area, the Bogatyr found his eyes resting on Cali as she was taking apart the bike. The knight smiles a bit when she jumps and places a hand over his lips to hide his smile.
"Oh, I'm sorry for startling you. I suppose I should knock next time. A thousand apologies." he says and nods his head. Lowering his hands, the Knight nods his head slightly. "Yes actually. I was wondering how it was doing. I hope I'm not interupting you or anything." he notes as he looks over at the motercycle on the blanket.
Caliopa puts the piece of the bike she is holding onto the blanket, shifting to rest an arm on her bent knee. "Just fixing the old girl up, she's been running oddly." She flushes, glancing down, noticing the oil over her hands. "Tis a public place, no need to knock. I was just thinking hard..." She picks up a cloth, wiping her hands on it almost nervously. "Um. Is he alright?"
Dreke chuckles slightly as he looks over at the motorcycle. "That's actually quite amazing how you can do all of that. You are quite skilled." he says with a chuckle and looks over at the woman with a nod. "You must of worked quite hard to get to where you are." After the flattery, the Knight crosses his arms and moves onto business. "I hope there was nothing to odd about my cycle? I noticed that it was moving somewhat oddly a few days ago, but I didn't think to much of it really." Dreke stops when he heard Cali ask him a question. Blinking, he turns to the beautiful lady and blinks. "He alright? I'm sorry, who are you speaking of?"
Caliopa lifts a shoulder lightly, blushing and ducking her head, "Uh, it. The bike." She rises from the blanket gracefully, dropping the cloth to the blanket. "I hadn't taken a look at it,.. moving oddly?" She is all business now, moving swiftly over the compliment, to avoid it. It is noted in the colouring in her cheeks. "I just do my best..." She tucks her thumbs into her belt hooks and bites her lower lip.
Dreke blinks a bit when Caliopa stands to her feet. He squints his eyes a bit, and could swear that he saw a bit of blush on her cheek. This caused him to blush a bit himself... a horrible reaction. Chuckling a bit, the knight rubs the back of his head and nods. Simply trying to play off the entire blushing fest. "Oh, well I don't think it's anything important. Just it sputters from time to time, but very rarely." Dreke says happily. After that, he nods his head and closes his eyes. Quickly adding, "Oh, your best is quite amazing. I most likely would have a hard time just saying most of the vehicles names in this garage. It's quite amazing!"
Caliopa 's cheeks dimple, despite herself and the blush deepens into a real one. "Reckon you'd do fine, if someone told you enough... do you want me to look at your lad? I don't mind giving it the once over." She ducks her head, shyly slanting a look up through her lashes. "Uh, I have some work on, if the bloke comes back. Ain't so sure we were understanding each other but if you want..." She realises she is babbling and stops abruptly, the colour rising a little further.
Dreke nods his head happily. "You would look at my lad, er... Hovercycle? That would be wonderful! Oh... that is if it wouldn't be much of a bother." Afterwards, Dreke looks around the garage for his Hovercycle. Shifting in his armor a bit, which was followed by a few series of clinks. Though Knight seemed to ignore it. "Well... I'm not to sure what the problem is, though I would be happy to help out in any way possible." he says and gives Caliopa a soft look and smile. "I suppose you would be the expert on this after all."
Nodding slowly, Caliopa's teeth nip at her lower lip. "I'll take a gander tomorrow, see what I can see." She smiles shyly, ducking her head. "Might cost you a bit, but ain't gonna be much..." She tilts her head back to look at him, her cheeks dimpling, "I'll just give it a going over."
Dreke smiles as he nods his head slightly. "Of course! I have the up most faith in you." he says with a smile. "I'm not to sure if I can do much combat on the cycle however, it's not really equiped with any weapons. I'm mostly just using it to head out into the area where the creatures are. Though it would be most useful if I need to make a quick get away. I'm just praying that nothing goes wrong." Bending over, Caliopa takes a piece of the bike from the blanket, her fingers fiddling with it. "Well, I ain't gonna fit you up with a load of weapons, but I can make him run like a teenager's wet dream." She colours up, as she realises what she said and winces, "I mean, he'll run smooth and fast..."
Dreke blinks and clears his throat, blushing a bit. Oh, to be a holy knight, things can fluster you easily. He'll get used to it sooner or later. Nodding his head, the man smiles, not really minding the choice of words. "That sounds... uhh, perfect." he says and nods his head.
"Oh! I've been meaning to ask. How are you sleeping lately?" he asks, he seems to be concerned with Cali's health as he gives her a slight nervous look. He hopes she hasn't been having more nightmares.
Caliopa 's cheeks are blushing to match his, and she ducks her head, staring at the piece of machine in her hands. "Uh, no dreams so far. I caught up on some sleep... enough that I ain't worried about falling into the truck more." She grins, suddenly, causing dimples in her cheeks. She slowly takes the piece of machine apart, her hands moving swiftly, without looking. "If you bring it in here, I'll make a start soonest?"
Dreke nods his head and grins. "Oh, glad to hear that. I was starting to worry about that." he says. Laughing a bit at the comment on the truck, Dreke walks around the garage slightly, looking around the various vehicles. He nods his head and looks back at Cali from over his shoulder. "Of course. I believe I left my Hovercycle here a few days ago for storage. Though for a repair I'm not too sure how much that will cost."
Caliopa shakes her head quickly, "I don't work here, I just lodge sorta. I'll do it off my own back, so reckon only you and I got to come to agreement." She watches him walk across the garage, her hands resting lightly on her hips. "Shouldn't be too much, just my time."
Dreke blinks a bit, surprised as he turns to face Caliopa. "Oh! Thank you very much!" he says as he bows his head. Well, I wouldn't want to take something for nothing." he says. "If you need anything then just ask. I'll be more then happy to assist you in any way possible." Having a Knight in debt to you is always helpful! Especially if you need to travel somewhere dangerous.
Caliopa smiles, ducking her head and blushing a little, "Ain't nothing, it ain't like I've got much to be doing and a little cash ain't going to go amiss." She raises both eyebrows, resting her hands lightly on her hips, "If you don't bring the bike in, though I can't do anything... " Her tone is chiding, teasingly so.
Dreke blinks, then laughs a bit and rubs the back of his head. "Oh yes! Right, I have it with me now." he says with an embarrassed look on his face. "I'll go grab it. Sorry about that... be right back" he says as he steps outside.
The sounds of a quick laugh follows him, and Caliopa settles herself on her blanket, moving the parts into an order she understands. She is talking softly to herself, as she does so.
Dreke shakes his head as he reaches his Hovercycle and hops on. Igniting the bike, the Knight swings the vehicle around and moves it to the garage. Slowly, he moves it in the room and looks over at Caliopa. "Alright, where should I park it?" he asks.
Caliopa gestures towards the other side of the blanket from the enfield, and kneels up. Her hands automatically reach for a tool, her forehead wrinkling as she listens to the engine note. "What's he doing?" She questions, her mind already on the job.
Dreke nods his head as he moves his Hovercycle to the other end of the blanket. Letting the bike slowly drop to the ground and come to a halt. Dreke steps off of the cycle and sighs as he looks down at the bike. As Cali listens to the engine, she could hear that it is mostly running smoothly. Though there was a slight sputter every few seconds. Not enough to be completely noticeable, but to a skilled mechanic, they could be able to pick that up. Unlike Dreke, who was completely oblivious to the entire thing.
Caliopa frowns as she listens and then reaches out to touch the bike. "Think I know the trouble, won't take long to sort it out..." She looks up at him, flashing a grin that deepens the dimples in her cheeks. "I think you just got some dirt in the carb." She explains, tilting her head to look at him with more ease.
Dreke smiles as he slides off of the bike and crosses his arms. "Alright! No problem." he says and looks down at the bike. "Just some dirt? Oh, well that should be simple enough." he says with a smile. "Thanks for all the help."
Caliopa runs her fingers along the side of the bike, laughing up at him, "Reckon you can take it from here then?" The teasing is obvious, and she lifts one eyebrow slightly. "Or want me to fix him up?"
Dreke blinks a bit and shakes his head. "Oh uh... I know what dirt is... though I'm not sure what the carb is." he says with a loud laugh. He grins at the teasing as he leans back onto a nearby wall. "I would most likely just make the poor thing even worst."
Caliopa giggles, kneeling up and pressing her palm against the machine, closes her eyes for a second. "Yeah, reckon that carb just needs cleaning out. It'd take me...few minutes." She settles back on her heels, tilting her head back to look up at him, "Want to leave him with me, and I'll have him done over by the time you go out with them. Think it won't cost you more than 20 credits.."
Dreke pats the top of his bike softly with one of his hands. "Alright, that sounds just like what I need!" he says and turns to face Caliopa again. "Thank you so very much for all of your help." Dreke says with a bow of his head. "I can return tomorrow to pick it up when needed. 20 credits sounds like a very fair amount, I'll be happy to pay you whenever." he says with a plight bow.
Caliopa blushes and ducks her head, leaning over the bike again, touching it lightly. "When you pick him up and he is running as you like, then pay me. If I don't do a good job, then you get the work for free." She flashes him a quick grin.
Dreke gives a soft smile and nods his head. "Of course, but I'm not going to be worried about that. I'm sure you'll do an excellent job." he says with a nod. Pausing, the knight looks at a clock on the wall and sighs. "Ah, I should be going. I suppose I shouldn't be taking up so much of your time either." he says and places a hand over his chest and bows slightly. "Thank you again Cali. It was a real pleasure to speak with you again."
Caliopa nods her head in acknowledgement, her absent smile showing that her mind has moved on to work on the bike. "You too, Dreke... see you later. Come by tomorrow. Reckon he will be fine." She starts to dismantle the bike, her hands working quickly, head bent over it, the world vanished for her.
