Kingsdale - Happy Days Inn
The Happy Days Inn is oldest Inn in Kingsdale. Having a great reputation for having clean rooms, good food, and happy service. This large hotel is about ten stories high, it has accommodations for the low-end person who just needs a roof over his head, to the high life style person who wants a penthouse view. The hotel is done in an old style Victorian look, with the large crystal chandelier, and open-air reception area. Straight ahead is the elevator leading up to the rest of the hotel, to the right is the dinning room, and to the right is the check in desk.
Katsumi straightens up, glancing at the Doctor now. "I leave you alone to talk with Qur about the details of the expedition. I have to go up to my room." she smiles.
Kid wastes no time in rapidly ringing the service bell, even though an attendant is not more than fifteen feet away, just finishing with a customer off to the side. The woman gives Kid an annoyed little glance round about the tenth tinny ring and hurries over to stave off a continued serenade. "May I help you?" she asks firmly. Kid turns around, the bell silenced. "I'm here to take the ailing machine. I don't have the time to wait, so chop chop." She gives two quick claps to go right along with the end of that demand. The attendant looks positively cross with the young woman, but somehow stifles a negative response to reply, "Very well, but there has been a change. There is another computer that we need to have looked at," she clarifies.
Renos smiles and then helps her up as well. "I think I will come with you." He then looks to Kid and grins, and gives her a wave of hello. He then nods softly to Katsumi and heads with her.
Has to agree about the Happy Burger. Although she can't,and won't complain about the food. That's some quick, and pretty tasty stuff! "Yeah he did. It wasn't too crowded but some of the people were kind of mean!" As Katsumi says she has to leave, Qur waves. "Ooh. Mission? So it's more than just an expedition, huh?" Oh. Same thing!? Who knew. Looking at Kelly's gaze, she eyes Kid, but shrugs. She's worn less when it's warm out. And it's just skin! Natural and all that. Sitting nearby, she waves to both Renos an Katsumi. "Bye you twooooo!"
Katsumi waves goodbye and leaves aims her way to the elevator with Renos.
Kelley rapidly rises with the duo, offers a polite bow, and says, "Good afternoon to the two of you. I look forward to our next meeting." Turning his head to look at the other two women, he decides to talk to the happy, flitty one, instead of the apparently pissed off angry one. "Hi, Qur! How are you today?" he says in a tone reminiscent of a father talking to his ten year old.
He then takes a small portable computer out of his backpack and sets it on the table, swatting it on the side, muttering at it.
"Another one?" No, Kid doesn't care for this change in plans, fixated on the employee who is trying her best to maintain a positive face. "I don't have time for another machine right now. Maybe if your flunky had mentioned this before I could have made some time. As it is, it'll cost you extra for taking up even more of my time. At least another hundred credits." The employee's patience strains, but she holds it in check as she sighs lowly and responds, "I will speak with the manager. If you would wait just a little bit." Kid frowns at that, but waves the woman off to do what she must. "I'll be here," Kid replies simply, turning her back then to wander off a bit. The employee lets her bland expression slip almost at once to eye the younger woman before turning to disappear elsewhere.
As Kelley decides to talk to her... which is nice, Qur smiles still. "I'm doing fine thanks. I've been looking around lately, especially trying to listen what some people have to say. And you know, there's like, alot of problems. Way more than I expected!" It's pretty obvious. And then the computer comes out, Qur twisting her head, looking, before her smile vanishes for some reason or another.
Kelley smiles again, and keeps an eye and ear on the other woman's argument. "What have you been doing in the big city, Qur? Avoiding the dinosarus?" He then mumbles again and swats his computer on its side, apparently upset that the screen remains blank.
Qur hmms, thinking about it, before shaking her head. "No." Looking upon Kid as she leaves, she is silent for a period. "I have been looking into some occurrences outside of the walls." She states, plainly. "I have looked on as a machine destroyed a variety of smaller Dinosaurs nearby." Another statement, devoid of that happyness from before. "It was from a safe position, in case you wander."
Kid casually unzips her jacket as she wanders away from the desk, vaguely toward where Kelley and Qur linger. She looks annoyed, but it simmers rather than boiling as she paces along slowly, letting her eyes flick here, there.. slowly coming to rest on two somewhat familiar faces. Her annoyance shifts to a more thoughtful sort of expression as she casually observes them for a bit as she draws a bit closer on her indirect path.
Raina steps in and looks around. A large bag hanging over one shoulder as it if's partially stuffed with something. The crowd in the lobby does get a blink, until she recognises a couple of the people in which case she waves.
"Oh, you were out with the dinosaurs then, were you? What kind of big machine did you watch killing the dinosaurs?" He waves as Raina enters the room, then returns his attention to Qur. "You know, my expedition is going to try to capture on of the dinosaurs and then dissect it to determine the best, fastest way to kill them. You would be very useful!" Again, his fatherly tone ekes out in his voice. He catches the technical woman's eye and smiles, shrugging delicately at his non-functional computer.
Kid doesn't shift her attention when the good doctor waves to someone. Though he does get a reaction with that little shrug. At that she smirks wryly, a slender brow lifting slightly as she stops her passing wander, not too far away from the two now. "Got a problem there, pops?" She sounds almost amused at that moment, inclining her head in his general direction.
Nodding, Qur agrees. She doesn't speak yet, turning to Raina, and thinks she knows. "I think it may have been hers. Unless someone else has any." The wild girl doesn't understand there could be multiples. And then Kelley explains it with the fatherly tone, looking towards the man silently for a long while, letting Kid intervene before speaking once more. "Do not treat me like a child... Especially not a father." Her expression is stony.
"I apologize for any offense, Qur, it's just habit." Kelley smiles. Then, to the techno woman, he waves a hand at his computer. "I only dropped the thing a few feet, and now it doesn't turn on! I thought that these things were supposed to be able to take a blow like that." He grimaces. "I mean, I've got another, but I liked this one."
Raina's tail flicks slightly as she almost fades into the background. The bag getting offered to one of the employees along with something else that has them taking the bag away to the elevator. Then she crosses lihgtly over to Qur. "What was I catching blaim for now?
The amused expression strengthens as Kelley speaks, Kid shaking her head slightly. "Well, try dropping onto your head, even a few feet and see how tough you are," she counters casually. "Computers are delicate instruments. Takes a fine touch to keep them perfect." A bit of smug slipping into her expression as she states as much.
Qur does not smile back. She looks at Kelley, seriously, the stony look holding there. Unfriendly? Uncaring? Perhaps a bit. And then she's smiling brightly again, looking at the computer. "Ooh. I've never heard something like that happening! Maybe if they make them better, yeah? That'd be nice of them I think maybe if they're so expensive or advanced they'd be made better! That's why I don't touch them." She says, nodding, crossing her arms. As Raina speaks, "Oh no I just think I saw you shooting Dinos in the big metal thing that I saw while in the air on a rock!"
Kelley watches Qur with interest, as if attempting to take mental notes with post-its that keep slipping off the page. As she flits away, he shrugs and divides his attention between Raina, who he's met, and this rather arrogant woman who he's not. He decides to attempt to make peace, and stands, offering a hand toward the techno girl. "My name is Kelley, miss. How may I address you?"
Kaomas enters the large room almost as if on cue with the word Dinos. His shades get pushed up over his eyes to the top of his head and he glances around, spotting Raina and the rest of the group gathered near Kelley. He smiles to himself and starts to walk over. Most notably.. he's lacking his usual arsenal.. packing only a slim black pistol strapped to his thigh, and the vibro knife in his boot.
Kid turns her attention toward Raina as the feline woman nears. She's not at all shy about looking her over in a brief sort of detail. There is a mild sense of curiosity in her expression, but Kelley distracts her with his straightforward approach. Kid returns her scrutiny to him, taking him in for a few moments before she replies, "Kid." Her hand lifts, but the doc doesn't get a shake out of her. Rather, she passes her fingers over his briefly instead. "That's what everyone calls me."
Raina ahhs softly at Qur's statement, then nods. "Yes, I did remove a few of the local ones. So far there hasn't bene any upset among the higher ups. Though there also hasn't bene talk of unit insignias either. So what were you doing out there, dear? I thought I'd seen some heat signatures out there that weren't dino in nature."
"Very well, Kid, it is nice to make your acquaintence. You strike me as the technological type... I can barely use my computer. Could you possibly take a look at my computer? I can pay. A little." He shrugs elaborately. "All of my lab programs were on there. I mean, I've got them backed up, but I hate having to reload software. It's so... boring." With a glance, he takes in Raina's unusual figure again, for the second time in twelve hours. "Hello, Officer Raina. I hope the day finds you well."
Kalvin makes his way into the Happy Days Inn at this point, his hands folded behind the small of his back and a placid expression on his silvery-blue skin. He is dressed in the usual trappings of his profession, all pristine except today he appears to have missed a drop of blood upon his collar. Not that he notices, but it seriously stands out against the perfect white of his coat. He is making his way towards the group, and Kaomas.
Raina inclines her head to Dr. Kelley. "So far it is treating me well, Mr. Kelley. Have they brought in any of the dinos that were knocked over yet? OR have they all gone to feeding the other dinos?"
Kalvin ... curiously, has his pager go off. Before he can say anything, he turns and dissapears. 3 Kaomas stops at the table everyone is seated at and he gives a nod to Dr. Kelley, and then to everyone else. "Good evening... I heard you are discussing the lizard problem? Perhaps I can help?" He says, offering his services with no mention of money!! GASP!!
Kid ends up with arms crossed as Kelley makes the expected request of her. "Depends what you're paying. Can't go doing charity, otherwise everyone will be expecting me to cut my prices," she notes. Despite her words, she slips past Kelley to step up to the table and scoop up the portable device, her back toward him as she turns it this way and that, inspecting the outer casing.
Dr. Kelley perhaps temporarily overwhelmed by the attention, Dr. Kelley looks askance at those around him. Then, carefully choosing the targets of his attention, he speaks to Raina, "No, no dinosaurs brought in yet. Looks like that's what the expedition will have to do." Then, to Kaomas, "Hello, Kamoas, still on for the expediiton? You get along with that Zaphod character okay?" And finally, to Kid's back, "I can maybe pay you.. 50 credits for an analysis? I don't know, is that fair?" He sighs and digs into his chocolate sundae, this time deliacately avoiding a brain freeze.
Responding to Raina, a bit late... perhaps she was thinking on something.. "Well it's stuffy in the city so I went for a walk in the sky!" She says, grinning. "Although I had to bring land with me but it was still nice! And I just had to see dinosaurs. Planning to go try and see if I can't go reeeeeally far to that city nearby!" She says, looking back to the groups and watching on. "Ooooooh. So we're bringing them in. I can help make him get stuck! And take him down. Yep!"
Kid seems to ignore the majority of people, devoting attention to the machine. Her prior annoyance fled for a moment as her attention remains fixed, brow slightly furrowed. After a few moments, Kelley might think she's not about to answer, but then she does. "Yeah, fine. I'll collect when I'm done," she decides, immediately starting to untie her bag's top, a few moments after which she'll stuff the portable computer into it.
Raina nods slightly to Qur as she offers a grin. "I'm actually working on authorization for a few fly-bys around Laramy to see if we can drive off some of the big ones a bit to give them a breather."
Kaomas looks at the others around the table and he steals a chair from another table and takes a seat at Kelley's table. "If we're to go hunting.... then we need the weapons to handle these things.. I know certain people have vehicles.. but we're gonna need firepower.." He says glancing at Raina. Looking back at Kelley he adds, "If you can though.. see if we can buy or borrow some livestock for the trip.. and some heavy duty explosives.. I had an idea a bit back.."
Qur oooooooooooooooohs to Raina, nodding. "Well I would ... I wish to help you protect the area. I'm going to be heading myself there. The ground is malleable when you understand it, and I am aim to create a peril to the larger dinosaurs in the shape of perilous edges here and there." Looking to Kaomas.. Qur has an idea. "If you want, I can offer you a platform in the sky to practice your aim on some ground bound dinosaurs."
Kelley's ears perk up in interest at Raina's comment. "I apologize for eavesdropping, Officer, but you're going to Laramy? How interesting! Perhaps if my expedition doesn't interfere, I could come along?" he asks, by way of invitation. Turning to Qur, he almost opens his mouth, then decides to let the flying leaf blow where it might land. "Kid, I know that you just started looking at it, but is it bad?" He scoops another bite of sundae into his mouth. "Kaomas, we're going to try to capture one of them, not blow one of them up! If we don't capture it, how will we ever determine the most efficent way to kill it?"
Kid shrugs her shoulders in reply to Kelley's question. "Obviously the damage is on the inside," she states as she finishes stuffing it away, casually tying it back up. "If you're lucky it'll just need a little solder. If you aren't, I might have to replace something. That would kick up the cost a little." She turns to the doctor and notes, "We'll see. But yours will have to wait until I finish the two I'm picking up here."
Kaomas looks at Kelley like he's insane. "I've spent a good portion of my twenty seven years killing things.. I'm pretty sure that eating a goat or sheep strapping with a dozen pounds of high explosive.. set off while it's biting.. it gonna kill the thing.. A tad bit expensive.. but it saves alot of the meat and hide.. A prolonged firefight will ruin all that." He says watching Kelley and Kelley alone.
Raina blinks at Qur and bites her lower lip as she tries to think of how to phrase something. "Umm, just be careful where those edges are. The roads allow most the travel and trade between the two cities. If they are mussed up like fur every which way, it disrupts what needs to pass through there."
And she goes unstopped in her words and ideas! And Kaomas really seems focused on Kaomas... and then Raina speaks, making something obvious. "... Oh." Qur seems taken aback. "Ooooooooooooooh. You need use of those roads still.. I was only thinking about human sized groups for travel safely.. but there's all those metal objects... Riiiight." Oops. The Fusionist turns red.
Smiling, Kelley offers Kid an elaborate thanks and offers her fifty credits up front to cover the costs - hopefully all of the costs. After another scoup of sundae, Kelley addresses Kaomas. "Well, I'm sure that blowing the heads off of dinosaurs with suicide sheep would be an effective way to kill them, wouldn't it be better to find that a single well placed shot could kill them instantly? Maybe a laser to the chest, striking the heart? Maybe a conventional round through the eye socket and into the brain? It just seems more efficient."
Kid refuses it as she already said pay comes after. Afterward, she slips through teh mix of people talking to meet the employee she chewed out, who has the two machines she's to work on. She collects them and slips out to get to work.
Kaomas thinks and moment, considering and shakes his head. "Not really no... Firts off you'd need and sniper rifle with explosive Ammo... to detonate once in the brain.. Second.. you'd have to penetrate the eye socket.. cuz in most things.. there is bone behind the eye.. a small passage for nerves and blood vessels.. but that's about it.. third you'd need someone with the skill to pull off a shot like that.. I'm here so you can cross that one off your list.. but.. The sheep Idea is better I think.."
Raina hmms softly as she glances back to Dr. Kelley and asks, "Did you have maps of the areas you wished to take your expedition?" Kaomas get a grin. "That was a fair spar the other day, sorry to laugh. Just reminded me of something that had happened before."
>> ICEvents << It is a very typical day outside. For winter that is. Snow falls lazily and people generaly ignore it as they go about their business. Kingsdale hustles and Kingsdale bustles. People go to work, people come home. Sometimes, people even gather in public places. Either way, for most, life goes on. But for some.... well, that just doesn't happen. Somewhere in the 'industrial' section of Kingsdale, there is a .... bang. It is not a little bang. Rather a stupendous, sky-high rending *KRAKWAKFRAKOOM!* that is heard all over the city as glass in many buildings nearby shatters from the shockwave that rolls out. A fireball climbs high into the sky as smoke begins to roll.... this is not a bomb, this is not a missile impact. The explosion was much, much louder and the shockwave will be felt across all corners of the city.
Kaomas jumps and stands, feeling and definatly hearing the explosion and shockwave. "What the hell was that??" He demands.. though it's likely noone knows the answer. He looks around and frowns. "Sorry.. this meeting just got cut short.. I want to know what the hell that was.."
Kelley leaps to his feet, leaving his papers behind and unattended on the table. Not recognizing the whump of a missle over the whump of a bomb, he turns to the two fairly well armed people at his sides, and asks, "What was that?"
Looking at Kaomas and Raina, Qur nods. "Well yeah! That seems really interesting and I bet that could work.. " And as she begins to think... the shockwave. Almost immediately, Qur freaks out. "W-What was that!? What did that what can cause that what is it is it bad oh what is it!" She's not good with this. Not at all. "Ah . what was it .. IRON HIDE!" And she's now clinging to Kelley like she was a ten year old again. Oddly enough, her hands feel a bit stony, suddenly, and her skin looks .. a bit harder. Infact, it looks down right thick. It even has a few 'cracks' here and there.. "I don't know I don't know!" She says to Kelley.
Kaomas pauses for a moment, considering what he felt and what he heard.. and running it against what he's felt in the past. "Not a missile... might be magic... but more likely it's punks playing with flammable things.. A bomb maybe.." The veteran warrior says, starting to move for the door. "You guys coming?"
Not terribly knowing what to do with Qur, he offers a delicate pat on the head and says, "We'll take care of you, Qur - if you need it." He then strides toward Kaomas, with Qur perhaps still stuck to his leg, slowing him greatly, "I'm coming with you!" He pulls a laser pump pistol from within his cloak. Didn't think the old doctor had it in him, did you?
Raina eyes the ceiling as if calculating if the building is coming down over her head, or if she's really gonna have to run for it. She's fising into a pocket on her jacket even as she's turning for the door. A radio coming out and flipped on as she starts calling into the base to see what got loose. "I know it was an explosion. What and where?"
Letting go of Kelley once petted, the initial shock sort of wears off. "No No .. I can take care of myself.. I just need to know what happened! It didn't sound good! That's a really big feeling.. oh coming? Coming!" She states, running after Kaomas, dashing past Raina and Kelley.. and she looks to be unarmed, and unarmored as she moves forth. At least, somewhat of both. "Lets go find out. Then I won't have to ask anymore!" GENIUS.
Kaomas nods to the Docter, though he doesn't draw his own weapon. He shifts his gaze to Raine, watching her watch the ceiling for a moment.. then he shakes his head and turns away and goes to leave, to find the source of the explosion.
Raina nods as she starts for the door as well, still on the radio. "Understood base. Industrial district. Is there anyone up to give a fly-ove to see if there is need for rescue squads or just firecrews?
The scene in the Industrial Sector is complte chaos. The east and south portions are completely fine, but in the central area there are many shattered windows -- both in vehicles and in buildings. But most things seem to be all right, as the shockwave was relatively low pressure. What is NOT all right is a large factory situated basically central. A huge column of oily black smoke is rolling up from it, and the vehicles outside are smashed and melted from heat. The front doors are open and flickerings of heat waves dance out and smoke roils.... this would defenatly be a good place to have armor, if you are going in.
Sev Arris is the first one on the scene. He's running there at a jog with his bow drawn, screeching to a halt as he nears the doorway. He really ought not to go in there, he could burn to death. He stands near the door, just outside of the heat waves... hesitating.
<OOC> Rumor Admin says, "If you guys want to have grabbed armor first, that is OK by me."
Kaomas arrives on scene from the north, having having a round about way to get here, both to grab his armor.. then trying to find ground zero. Spotting the guy at the burning entrance to the factory.. he heads that way, eyeing the man as he approaches.. not sure if he's rescue or just a bystander. Turning his gaze of the factory... he eyes it, and ponders going in.
Kelley runs into view in his strange European armor. He races up next to Kaomas and the unknown man, scanning the remains of the factory for life-signs, and considering going in without confirmation first. "Kaomas, you see anything yet," comes his amplified voice.
Arriving, running in first before, she's now talking. Qur isn't in her happy, flippant, airy mode.. she's serious now. Perhaps onset by the burning area. Her skin, however, seems completely different from the leather. But that's enough of that. Arriving straight from the Inn, she doesn't stop by anywhere as heads straight towards the Factory.. and there's a huge column of smoke rolling up, vehicles melted, doors open.. It's a pretty bad sight. "This is not what I expected to find in a city.." But as Sev hesitates, Qur walks forwards, near the door, the heat flickering against her, sizzling the ends of some of the leather she has on.. but for the most part, her skin, a sheen on it, with a few cracks, is not even sweating. "Do you know what this building is?" She asks.
Raina arrives a bit late to the scene after having to detour to the office lockers to break loose her EBA. Nothing facy, infact it's rather carework in appearance. The KPD splash still looking rather new against the rest. But you have to love that it's sealable. "Does anyone know what happened here yet?" she inquires as she does arrive. "Or if there's anyone still in there?"
Kaomas turns to look at Raina arriving last, shaking his head, then turns his head back to the inferno. Kao pulls his Urban warrior helmet down over his face and seals it to the rest of his armor. THen in a slightly tinny voice, he answers. "I'm going in.. Might be people in there.. maybe the guys who caused this.."
Sev Arris shakes his head at Qur and Kaomas both. "I have no idea." He says. "And I don't have any armor with me. You folk go-on in. I'll stay outside and check the transport vehicles for drivers."
Inside, one can suddenly see movement. Not much, but some. And the sounds of people groaning. Apparently, someone did survive. At lest one person.
Kelley is already moving when Kaomas speaks. He hesitates briefly as the first man on the scene apparently doesn't know where he was going, which is disturbing, but heads into the building anyhow, announcing loudly, "We're here to help you! Stay where you are!"
Qur follows the others into it, the leather burning, sizzling . but she heads in anyways, covering her mouth and nose with a leather strap.. smoke inhalation is very bad.
This appears to have once been a facility for manafacturing E-Clips -- one of Kingsdale's most important industries. Known as Ackbar Electronics, it once churned them out at a rate of roughly three hundred a day. Occupying about a city block, it used to posess some very specific generating equipment and many fine and expensive electronics for assembling its trade.
Now it is little more than a raging inferno. The generator is on fire and shattered, shrapnel having been thrown across the factory floor. At least twenty employees lie bleeding, some dead. Fire is rapidly spreading through the different rooms....the storage room appears to have been the first gone... it's walls and vault shattered and broken as though thousands of E-Clips went off at once. Strange. Since when did E-Clips explode?
Searching his scanner for the lifesign, Kelley asks through a loudspeaker, "Does anyone know if there are any more E-Clips waiting to go off? I don't want to save someone just to have him die in a secondary blast!" Flames lick at his armor.
Kaomas enteres the inferno, pushing through a sheet of flame with his arms head before him, using a peice of debris to shield himself. Dropping the debris, he turns to look at Kelley. "E-clips are basically batteries.. They're not suppossed to explode at all." He says, confident that he's safe despite the nearly 30 clips he's carrying himself.
Walking into the facility, Qur doesn't seem to be bothered by the blaze at all. But what she sees is .. a lot of broken, burned machinery. "E-clips? I'm looking .. those things.. I don't see anything that looks like that here! I'll check some of the more fiery rooms.. the fire isn't going to harm me .. for a while." Woah. "But it seems they have.. " She walks towards a door, flames crackling in them, as she leans in to look. There may be something there, where the others might not have access to.
Raina's attention twitches towards generator for a moment before she offers. "E-clips can be set to explode via overloading them. But that shouldn't have done..." A hand gesturing at the flaming factory. She bends to grab two of hte employes by the collars and a third gets glanced at before she shakes her head. "Too much weight to do a three fer. Frack! Let's just get them out before more of them die."
Dr. Kelley will be upset to see that there is not just one person is still alive but several. And fire is rapidly spreading. Probably nine are still alive. It is at this point that a terrible, rending screech of metal is heard along with an electronic buzzing and a rapid series of beeps..... something emerges from the rubble of the generator there. It is humanoid, roughly five feet tall. Ovbiously robotic, it has heavily built elbows and knees... hands ending in three round-jointed fingers that are tipped with wickedly barbed claws. The head unit is almost like a helmet, with a visor that glows neon green and two large gun-ports on either side of it. Beeping and buzzing electronically, it lunges for the middle of the group.
The 'robot' is surprisingly fast, darting into the middle of the group and looking around it in a split second with that eerie-green glowing visor. Turning it's body it begins to head towards Raina, apparently pegging her as the easiest kill. As it does, it rotates its torso at the hip and from the region of it's chest, roughly where a nipple would be a pair of laser blasts lance out towards Kaomas.
And curiously, both blasts not only go wide but there is an electronic crackling from inside of the machine and it staggers slightly. Perhaps it was damaged in the blast?
Kaomas spins as he feels the vibrations of the robot enter the room, and his hand is going for the pistol at the small of his back even as he turns. Once facing the 'bot, he takes aim and squeezes off a shot at the thing with his NG ion, watching the shot strike true.
That's ... !!! Qur's attention is caught by the robot. It might be hard to NOT notice it. The fire still spreads, and that robot, lasers, builts claws and knees, round jointed fingers and an odd helmet, with large gun ports.. and it's lunging for the middle. Qur leaps back, looking towards the machine.. and then moving to within a five foot distance, she leaps forwards, hand pulled back in a fist. And then she slams it .. into the ground infront of the robot. An hammering blow of focused air towards the earth .. which splits, the ground vanishing under the robot, dirt and cement, whatever the floor was made of, shooting out of the way. Potentially.
Over the roar of weapons and magic, Kelley announces over the loudspeaker, "Kaomas, ancient lithium batteries were like little mini-bombs. I'm not going to trust these with someone else's life. *Something* exploded!" Kelley yells. He seems oblivious to the fighting going on, as long as it doesn't come his direction. Brushing melted and warped steel debris out of his way, he scans for more E-Clips, perhaps on an overload setting. His search for bodies seems to have ceased for now, as his attention is entirely directed toward a more immediate - if perhaps non-existent - danger.
Seems that victem number three thought his chances were better with that dusky metal handle swaying there infront of him. Too bad Raina was in the middle of stepping when he grabbed her tail and pulled her off balance. What is a girl to do when she already has two men on her hands and a third wants to play too? Ohh, and now we have a fourth suitor as well? Is this the new season of the Batchelorette?
The robot staggers back as Kaomas' pistol opens up a nice sized hole roughly in the center of it's chest. Qur's magic makes a decent sized hole open up beneath it's left foot as well and clearly off balance it lurches towards Kaomas, using momentum to keep it's feet. Raina seems forgotten as it goes for the most threatning target first -- a clawed hand hauling back and lashing out towards his body.
Kaomas growls as he feels the robotic claws tear into his newly aquired armor, opening three lines down the front to match the three claws. Swearing loudly, he brings his pistol up to bear and squeezes off another shot, nearly point blank.
As the Robot lunges at Kaomas, Qur leaps back, pointing a hand out and shooting an arc of electricity towards the robot, aiming for that odd helmet. The arcs might just graze it, but it's a contact.. and she ends up stumbling, some of the ground being uneven from the 'eclip explosions', which were, probably, the robot itself. But at this point, a little stumble is far better than hitting the ground hard, as the flames lick around her.. the armoring might only hold for so long still..
Wincing slightly at the sounds of blasters and claws against durasteel, Dr. Kelley searches for a cart, and obviously, finding none, he drags a large piece of sheet metal toward the largest gathering of bodies. He begins loading multiple bodies onto the large sheet, for more efficient carriage.
Raina with a yowl out outrage and a quick tug she frees her tail form it's confinement and ends up dropping one of the other guys as well. Hope they aren't too awake for this, as she scrabbles for her pistol even her what she's seeing starts to register into those deeper recesses of her brain and scream for her to screw the rest and run like mad.
The robot lurches once again as it is shot three seperate times. Qur's lightning bolt causes it to crackle with energy, a bit of armor melting, and Raina's shot hits it in what would be the navel if it was human. Kaomas' blast gouges a deep furrow in its left shoulder -- the force enough to snap it back. What is truly disconcerting though is that none of this seems to have gotten through it's armored carapace yet. It rotates, feet planted firmly on the ground as it attempts to simply grasp Kaomas by the arm and twisting -- slam him into the wall with as much force as possible.
Kaomas grins beneath the obsidian visor of his own helmet and he slaps the incoming arm away, rolling his arm and shoulder under it to avoid the grasping claws. Thus freed from making a new whole in the wall, he pushes his pistol to the things side, just below the grasping arm and squeezes the trigger again, yelling. "This is how you do it ladies!!!"
Pulling back a bit, Qur yells over to Kelley. "If you need help moving them I've got something.. you just need to tell me! I think I can make something to help them out, but I'd need to draw away first! -- --" And suddenly, she 'breaks' as it were. "AH! GIANT ROBOOOOOOOT!" She suddenly cries out, and despite the worthlessness of it all, sends a spiraling blast of dust towards the visor, wind erupting and grit sent to obscure... nothing. It's a robot. This doesn't effect it. "Oh no, wait, it doesn't have eyes! Uh Uh ... Mr Kelley, maybe I might be better helping move the people! I can make a flat place they can rest!" Covering her mouth in the burning atmosphere, she's almost glowing red . from just forgetting that.. Oop?
With the warehouse beginning to fall down around him, Kelley pulls his sheet of four men into a "slightly safer" part of the warehouse, out of immediate fire-danger. He then gets up, tries to hide from the new 'bot, and dives for a nearby valve, strains against it, and begins to turn.
Raina settles a bit better amid her threesome of gents it seems as she lines up another shot. She's not been too bad with it, even if it is a tiny in armor piece of... But it's legal!!
Once again, the robot is shot twice. Qur's ... fizzled spell does nothing but annoy the empty air. Raina's shot catches it in the flank and Kaomas' shot blasts a goodly sized chunk out once again. Twisting away from him, the robot leaps a solid ten feet to the side; dropping to both knees and a hand on the ground for a stable firing position as it twists its visored head towards Kaomas. The two firing ports on either side of its head glow bright cerulean blue for a split second -- heralding that whatever is going to come will be nasty. Then with a tremendous *CRACK* a pair of ion blasts go out towards him.
Kaomas blinks under his identity removing helmet, seeing the 'bot open fire on him. Thankfully, long years in the field and highly trained and honed reflexes save him yet again. His left shoulder twists back and down, and he drops his free hand to catch himself on the floor, letting both ion shots fly over him to burn through a wall behind him a good ways. He recovers and takes stock of everyone elses position. "You missed me!!" He yells, taunting the thing.
The Robot.. doesn't care about her magic!? What kind of evil mean robot is this!? She's momentarily stunned, and then realizes.. ALL OF THEM ARE. The horror drives her to not do anything immediately before she watches it twist it's head towards Kaomas, leaving it's back to her! And Qur takes that. "Ah ah .. oh Mr Kelley left I better.. .. No I should. ah maybe if I..." And then she just breaks into a run, heading towards the robot from the back. Everyone's using guns! So she will too. Wait what. Skidding to a stop, mthe flames licking up still, the woman who's clothing is nearly aflame wraps her hands about each other into a gun shape, pointing.. and 'firing', "KAPOW! PEW PEW!" Just like the rest of them!.. Except hers is a blast of air. And it's coming from right behind the robot, hammering into the back, aiming to try and cleave into the mechanicals of the beast!
Dr. Kelley continues to twist at the valve, forcing it all the way open, clearly straining through his European armor. One close enough could even hear the grunts as he leans his weight against the valve. With that open, he ducks back behind some debris to take stock of the situation with the nine men still down, two homicidal robots, and three warriors blasting away. But it's not hiding, it's analyzing.
Raina growls under her breath, slipping into a tongue she barely recognises anymore as she lines up for another shot. The trigger clicks and then theses lovely dancing sparks squirks out the end. One can almost picture the expression she must be wearing as her pistol is lifted sideway as if to look at it and ask it why it had the nerve to do that NOW of all times?!?!?!?!? Here, Robot.. Here boy!1 Fetch?
The robot's shot goes wide of Kaomas, striking the floor instead where it blows quite a large hole; dust and debris flying everywhere. Qur's electrical blast seems to do some actual damage this time, burning a long and angry scar in the metal thing's shoulder. This is when Doctor Kelley's past efforts prove successful. Having taken a second or two to activate the pumps the overhead sprinklers suddenly burst on -- showering all present with water. The pouring liquid and the resulting mist and steam obscure vision slightly, but have the effect of causing the flames to begin to die down almost immediatly.
The robot swings to glance at Kelley -- as though making a note of him before it suddenly turns back to Kaomas and fires. Well, not at him -- though it looked like it. The shot is actually aimed towards the relatively fragile ceiling above him. Providing enough damage is done, it is likely to partially cave on him.
Without waiting to see if it is succesful in immobilizing Kaomas, the robot lunges again. Powerful legs enable it to leap great distances apparently, and the target is very simple -- it's attempting to land bodily on top of Raina.
Said robot, probably weighing three hundred and fifty pounds or better strikes the felid with driving force. Perfectly calculated, the attack ends with the female on her back and the robot's legs on either side of her body - a position that might be lewd, if it wasn't raising a clawed hand for a killing blow.
Kaomas flings himself out of the way of the falling debris, rolling in Raina's direction even before the robot leaps. And when it does.. so much the better. This is personal now.. Kao's getting angry at his inability to take this thing down quickly.. his hard left hand clenches in anger, and he prepares to take the 'bot from behind and give him an ion enema.
After watching the last actions from behind the debris, Kelley jumps out and begins to pull against his sheet-metal sled with all his strength. The doorway is partially blocked by the fighting beings, but he assumes that he'll cross that bridge when he comes to it. His helmet mounted loundspeaker announces, "Outta my way!"
Kaomas lands in a roll near Raina and her mettalic attacker.. and from the stress of the fire, or the fight.. or whatever the reason.. the roof decides to collapse directly above Kao, pinning him under convieniently stacked debris, trapping him and rendering him useless until dug out, except to shout profanities..
From certain angles behind the robot as it crouches over Raina someon'es getting a pretty good look at a kick that would make world socker a new cup sport. Too bad sport that that's just gonna bruise her toes as she connects with a solid clang and a whimpered 'Ouch...'. But heh, she's not going out without atleast attempting to fight, right?
With Raina right there, Qur looks on as she's stuck under it and mostly helpless. She might hit her.. oh no way. She can't just let it hurt Raina! And it's right there.. well, better make herself a bigger target then. "Hi! Hi hi! Hey Mr Robot..." She calls, trying to get it's attention. "You should look over here!" And what's over there? Breaking out into a full sprint, she simply runs towards the Machine, bringing her fist forwards as hard as she can, the hammering funnel of air being brought behind it as she aims to connect.
With the party's heavily armed headhunter now out of the fray, buried under a half ton of miscellaneous roof debris things are looking quite grim. The only plus is that the action from the sprinklers has put out the fire. The building though is badly weakened in structure, but seems to be standing so far. Though the roof has already collapsed in two spots. The robot sits astride Raina, proudcing what sounds like static and electronic noise as it simply begins to rip and tear at the armor over her chest with its claws. Even Qur's blow -- powerful enough to lurch it back, doesn't seem to stop it as the sounds of rending armor fill the air. The only man who can stop this is Doctor Kelley. A pair of his wounded are coughing.. both bleeding from the mouth and nose. Who's it gonna be, Doc? Raina, or the wounded?
Kelley seems to go for his pulse-pistol for a moment, hesitates, then seems to make up his mind and begins to pull his sledful of totally helpless humans toward the nearst exit, watching Raina, Qur, and the robot intently. He seems caught desperately between two decisions.
Kelley seems to go for his pulse-pistol for a moment, hesitates, then draws it and points it at the robot. Then he allows it to roll forward off his trigger finger and tosses it toward Raina.
Raina glances up as something catches her attention. She snaps a hand to capture the thrown pistol. Her other fist hammering down on the robot's toes, just becasue it's a frustration relief. If she survives this someone's cod piece is going into the repair of her armor.
And with Raina getting mauled, her assault just causing it to lurch back, Qur's left with Raina still on the ground, and the robot still assaulting her. As such, however, Qur doesn't move. The fist connects, the robot mauls, and Qur .. stays in close. She can't aim for a leg. She can't move them. She can't get rid of how things are.. and it's so much stronger.. however, she can get really close, bringing both hands back in a final hammerblow of air.. but not move out of the way, standing somewhat over Raina, in the way of any horrible fists unless the robot moves back to assault her .. or just steps on her!
And there goes Doctor Kelley. The several wounded people that he evacuated will thank him. But what about Raina? Shards of her armor are flying in all directions as it whittles down on her. Finally, though, Qur's next blast seems to do some real damage. The armored carapace over its torso fractures. It's not much, but sparking internals are exposed and the blast catches the beast's attention. Twisting its head, it lets go at her with a blue blast of ion energy -- single cannon from the right side of it's head.
Now completely without any ranged weapons, unless he wanted to throw his vibro-knife, Kelley wishes Raina and Qur all the best of luck, and strains to pull the survivors of the explosion clear of the rubble. He mutters a short prayer to his gods and pulls with all his might, keeping an eye on that unpredictable robot that could claw his way without warning.
Raina has a pistol in hand again. And missing quite a bit of the thickness of her fairly new armor. And to think she's just had it repainted again? Hold-out or no, it's something she can and has used before. Taking the attempted swipe at someone else for a change as the distraction she was waiting for. She jambs the barrel into that lovely crack she's had so much time to study so closely and puls the trigger. Ohh, someone didn't turn off their speakers again did they. "Who taught a hamn-handed jerked....... somethings it's better not to understand... thing how to titty twist????"
The Robot armored carapace fractures, and as the sparking internals, exposed, is seen, Qur looks at it. "Yay! Yay you're going to be oka-.. Hey what's it doin-" And then it lets a blue blast of ion energy towards her. It burns, the ion slamming into her body, layers of leather being vaporized instantly.. but the flesh isn't harmed. Far from it, there's a fizzling of smoke, and she doesn't move.. suddenly, less happy and ecstatic about everything. "I ... Can't really get you out from there." She comments, standing in the way. "But I'll try to keep it's attention on me. I'm out of energy!" Probably not what Raina wants to hear.. she just can't feel anything.
Finally, some real damage seems to have been done. Angry blue sparks shoot out from the gash and the thing lurches backwards -- staggering off of the prone feline before it can land another blow and thereby giving her a chance to scramble out. It twists first to the left, and then to the right as though unsure of a target. Finally, it aims a sort of downwards swipe with it's claws at the fallen feline. Sensing blood, and apparently going for the kill...
With the survivors in the clear, Dr. Kelley, resplendent in his Euro armor leaps back into the room. A blazing, flaming sword leaps into existence in his hands, and he begins to run toward the robot-Raina-Qur concotion.
Raina attempts to scramble out from under the leeping robot as the first cracked shot drives it back. Not nearly as smooth as she was before she went down with the robot man. The swipe peals yet more of that tattered armor loose. But also keep her close enough to cram the pistol in again and pull the trigger. Learn to take it like a man, it's when you let the women close that they REALLY hurt you.
Oh this just ISN'T WORKING. She's out of mana, and the best she has is an axe.. and a stake. AHA, A STAKE. In and attempt to seem like a mock threat, Qur takes out a stake, and places it into a crack in the armor.. here's hoping the inside is a little less thick than the outside. The wooden stake is simply wood, it's true..
But sliding the axe from out of her cloak, she aims to .. slam the blunt end against the stake, aiming for it to hammer into the armor.. or maybe a circuit or two. It could be absolutely useless.. but at this point, standing there will only get Raina hurt more.. she's gotta take chances.
Qur ^
Doctor Kelley is just in time to see the machine get blasted by Raina once again. Qur is desperatly hammering on it with an axe to no avail; the stake fracturing beneth as the machine turns it's head towards Raina for a final time. Even her shot seems to do nothing, sailing into the rent in the robot's armor and producing a gout of black smoke. The head-mounted cannons swivel towards her, the end inevitable as the blue glow rises. There's no way her armor will be able to take another shot.
Suddenly, blue sparks travel up the metal form from foot to head, crackling and angry as a muffled *WHOOMPH* is heard from a secondary explosion inside of it. It drops to it's hands and knees, smoking as it begins to emit a repeating beep-beep-beep sound. Curiously, fifteen beeps the first time and then it recycles. Fourteen beeps the second....
The sword vanishes as quickly as it had blazed into existence, and Dr. Kelley race over to help Raina extricate herself from the metal man. It's surprising, he thinks, this day was going spelndidly. I must get back to my sundae after I help the survivors. At least, that's what one might have heard had he said anything aloud.
Raina isn't even fighting Dr, Kelley about getting help. Thought she does thrust the hold-out flat against his chest. "Thanks. Out now.. Need to throw up my spleen from between molars." Her tail dragging as she hunches around the new decorations to her armor.
.. And so the metal man releases smoke, having been vanquished by the group of -wait. Kelley is taking out Raina. That's nice. "WE DID IT!" She says, leaping up and down, and then looking to the beeps. "Ooh.." Poke poke. ".. Waaaait a second. I remember something of this before." Her mother once said something along 'don't stay near something if it's beeping'. But why?
Well.. Lessons to follow! Qur turns tail, and follows the rest, making a break for the exit after the two.. Kelley looks like he's helping Raina enough. "Sorry I couldn't keep him away.. I was ran dry."
The beeping sound continues. By now, as the robot struggles to rise one can tell that it is on roughly 'eight'
Fortunatly, all except for Kaomas manage to make it out alive -- leaving only his buried self and the dead with the now mortally wounded fighting machine. For a moment, as the three fleeing individuals make it out of the factory, nothing happens. And then comes the loud, rending *KERBOOM* of an explosion and a fireball shoots upwards from the remains of the roof. Then, a great creaking and groaning is heard as the weakened roof finally gives up the ghost. Slowly at first, and then with ever-increasing speed the remains of the factory caves in on itself and lands with a horrible smashing sound. Then, it begins to smoulder. And Kaomas was still in there..
Fortunately, by this time, flashing lights and sirens pull up as people arrive to collect the wounded and emergency crews begin the task of fighting the fire... Looking back at the building and knowing that Kaomas is still in there - hopefully alive - is painful, but Kelley knows what he has to do. Placing his arms under one of the injured bodies, he picks it up and heads toward the nearest ambulance, handing off to the medical professionals. After all of his wounded are taken care of, he relieves himself of his helmet and shakes his head free, sweat dripping down his forehead. He approaches Raina with a smile, examines her armor, makes what he hopes is a humorous comment about getting involved with the wrong men, and asks for his pistol back.
Having run her way out.. Qur makes it out well enough. Her skin, steely, fades from the little glow it had moments ago.. and as Kelley goes to move the citizens, Qur looks back over to the debris, and begins to move it. She's out of energy, but that doesn't mean her fists aren't. She's not immensely strong, but she's aiming to try and get him out.. he did help, after all, with the robot. And so, she's trying to at least get his head out.. maybe after that, she can mix up some things with a little bit of herbs or this and that she has in her garden, for something to help relieve the pain for the wounded.. she may even help with first aid! .. But for now? Kaomos may have been a merc, but he HELPED... Right
Raina glances back into the factory in time for it to explode. A soft flow of some launguage slips out again as if she's cursing under her breath. One arms clutched across her shreaded armor in the 'No, don't look here, I'm bare!' pose. Whe nasked for the pistol back after having tried to pass it back already. She simply hands it to him then falls back into the guise of traffic dirrector. She figures if they get the injured out of hte way then the heavier equipment can be moved in to help shift the building off Kao faster. She'll keep working until they make her stop. Silly rules about no bleeding on the job, haven't they ever fought a war?[[Category:Raina
