Vyvian has set herself up a nice little space at the central fountain of the garden. With her heavy cloak removed and laid out like a blanket with the fur up she's settled on the ground, her heavy axe leaned against the side of the fountain itself. She has a handful of plastic bags laid out before her, each one holding a different sort of candy. It's early evening, still some hours before the fog comes and most depart. There are a few folk wandering about here still, but it's quiet and none too claustrophobic. At the moment, Vyvian is eyeing one of the candies, a wrapped up ball that may well be grape flavored.
Waiting for word on a conversation she had the other day, Sage finds herself back in the garden after the majority of the people have filtered out for the day onto more pressing matters. She begins to walk about, as she tries to familiarize herself with the plants that are currently on display. Unlike the other day, there is no one hounding her about making little improvements to the garden.
Vyvian waggles the wrapped up candy a bit before she lightly tugs at either end of the wrapper. Vaguely amused at how it unrolls. No new thing, but amusing nonetheless. as she's slipping the candy out, she lifts her eyes to look about. A pleasant place and watching people can be interesting. She'll spy Sage early, though there won't be a solid sense of recognition. Even so, she calls out casually, "Want somethin' sweet, honey?" Not a trace of innuendo to be found. Except, perhaps, for when her thin tongue flicks out the taste the little candy ball, but she does it casually, without any lingering emphasis. She seems undecided as to if it meets her standards.
Occassionally Sage pauses to try mouthing the name of one of the plants, but it seems there are some plants that she's already familiar with or has visited in the past as she walks past them without pausing. When the question comes, she looks to the lizard woman on the fur-lined cloak. There isn't much sign of recognition aside from knowing she'd met a lizard person recently. "What do you have?" She asks, walking slowly to see what is being offered.
Vyvian gives a toothy grin as she motions with her empty hand to the bounty laid before her. "Well now, we got these lil ones here." She points at one bag with a rainbow of little hard candy balls. "Figure most taste like some kinda fruit, but ain't quite right.. not like the real thing." Of course they don't look too expensive. "These ones got chocolate." She actually indicates two bags, one having small, thin bars of chocolate in individual wrappers, the other a circular nugget. "Those got all sorts in em." The nuggets given that detail. "And I got these ones here. Just the busiest sort of thing you could ever hope to see." Those being plumper chocolate bars that have all sorts of goodness on the inside. Well, taste goodness. Health badness.
Once she can see the different assorted candy, Sage looks at each in turn as they are described to her. She hms softly to herself, "I think I'd like to try one of those..." She says, gesturing to the chocolate nuggets that have varied fillings inside them. She doesn't make a move to grab one, letting Vyvian decide whether she actually gets one. Her gaze shifts towars Vyvian, "Are there many like you living around here?" She asks curiousity.
"Don't be shy, come and sit," Vyvian prompts, motioning for Sage to come closer. Indeed, there is room enough for two, if not enough to fully stretch out without covering bare ground. "Hep yourself, honey." The question is met with another grin. "There are folk with scales about, but none of my kin," she replies. "My kin prefer the untamed lands." Her voice is husky, with a soft rolling lisp for every 's' sound.
Faint amusement plays on her features as she asked not to be shy. Since the lizard seems to be friendly enough, Sage moves closer before claiming a portion of the cloak to sit upon but leaving space for the other to stretch out if so desired. She nods softly, "Thank you." She replies, reaching into the choosen bag and picking out one of them. She slips the candy between her lips and takes her time tasting it as she listens to the lizard answer her question. "I'm more used to wilderness myself." She notes, before tilting her head slightly. "I may have seen you once more, but I'm not sure since it was dark." She pauses, "I'm Sage." She offers, extending her hand mildly.
Vyvian seems to decide the purplish candy isn't for her, taking the wrapper to rewrap it. But she has the presence of mind to slip it into one of her pouches rather than back into the bag itself. "That so? Know you a lil 'bout livin' away from all this?" A hand lifted to gesture obscurely towards 'all this'. Then the hand comes down and is offered up. "Vyvian, but you can call me Vyvy if you like it." She grins, such expression often showing off a goodly number of small, sharp teeth. She has a firm, strong handshake this one. "You look kinda familiar, but been seein' so many new folk, can't keep names t'faces at times."
While trying to be subtle about it, Sage does take note of where the undesirable candy ends up. The other aspect may be to avoid it herself. She nods, "Comfortably so." She assures, taking the hand for a brief handshake. She also takes the opportunity to get a feel of the scaley skin of the woman. "Vyvy is kinda catchy." She admits with a little amusement and a small smile. She doesn't seem to be put off by the toothy smile nor overly surprised. "And, yes, there are a number of new people I'm trying to keep track of too."
Vyvian's hide is dry and smooth, the scales fine. And she feels warm, rather than cooler as some might expect from reptilian creatures. "Catchy helps ya remember too." She grins again, looking down them to consider her bounty. "I don't think I'll be keepin' these here." She indicates the fruit flavored candy balls. "Don't taste too right. Gotta be better candies like that about, ya think? Mebbe expensive ones.. I should figure a way to make 'em m'self."
The warm in Vyvian's skin is a surprise to Sage, but its only acknowledged visibly by a mildly thoughtful look in her eyes. "I suppose so." She agrees with a small smile, before looking to the candy balls. "What are you thinking of doing with them?" She asks, before chuckles softly as she's asked about better quality candy. "You're talking with someone where sweets needed to be made rather than bought in a store... for the most part." She gives a shrug to that, before glancing down to the candies. "I guess it depends on how fancy you want them to look."
"Give em to the young ones at the Knights Hospital, likely," Vyvian reples. "THough if you want a handful, I don't mind it." Offered with a slight grin and a little wave towards the open bag. "Makin' nice with them takes a lil nudge, y'know." She considers after and admits, "I ain't often made nothin' like candy. Most times b'fore I cooked for need. Don't suppose they gotta look pretty so long as they taste good and ain't too messy."
Sage's gaze drifts to the candy ball bag, before she shakes her head gently to avoid having beads knocking either of them in the face. "Its alright, I'm sure the young ones will be eager enough to get them." Before glancing back to Vyvian with a slightly raised brow before it settles back down. "I'm only starting to get used to those kind of differences." She purses her lips in thought after that. "The same for me, but I imagine it'd just take something to keep it together to avoid the mess." She begins to briefly consider the possibilities.
"Don't rightly know, " Vyvian replies, considering the various candies. "I hear they got books n'such for learnin' things like that, but I dunno how to read em. Them books, they don't last too long out in the wilds. Not much use for em when you can learn easy enough from another. But I ain't got that kinda option 'round here yet." She grins a bit and considers. "Mebbe I should learn to figure out them words n'such. Can't be too hard, eh?"
"I know how to read to a point." Sage admits, "Probably not enough to teach, though." She shrugs faintly, "I could try reading one of the books, though... Of course, I don't think I'd have what I'd need to actually make 'em." She reaches into the nugget bag once more. She holds it up more to examine it, "Looks simple enough." She comments, "Want to guess which flavour it is?" A playful offer with a raised brow given to the lizard.
Vyvian considers Sage. "Could try it some time, mebbe. Once I get the how and what in mind, won't be no issues makin' up a batch a whatever," she says, before the challenge is posed to her. She grins and considers the nugget for a moment before she says, "I'm thinkin' nuts. But that's cause most of 'em got some kinda nut in 'em. Mebbe.. them almond ones," she clarifies.
Sage nods faintly to the comment about trying to make a batch at some point, before letting the topic drop for now. She has other concerns to balance before thinking of making candy for people, after all. She chuckles softly, with amusement in her eyes. "Cheater." She playfully accuses the lizard, before cracking the nugget carefully. "I guess this is your's then." She offers the slightly damaged candy as if it were the reward.
Vyvian accepts the slightly damaged candy and pops it into her maw. Though she keeps it there, only adding an edge of distortion to her next words. "Mebbe you c'n find me a good book for that? Read it t'gether later an' then I can try an' make some a the things in it. Got a decent memory for recipes. Just gotta know the what an' how much."
Sage takes a moment to consider whether she heard Vyvian correctly due to the added distortion to the words. "I could take a look." She concedes, "Not sure what would make it a good one, though." She chuckles briefly, "I guess the results will tell." She adds after a thoughtful moment, before gazing up towards the upper reaches of the garden. "I may be spending more time here if all goes well." She makes a brief hand gesture to indicate she means the garden.
"Don't worry about goods an' bads, honey. If the first choice ain't so good, more where that came from." Vyvian's reply about as easygoing as one might hope for. When Sage speaks of and motions to the garden, she glances about briefly before her attention returns to Sage. "That so? What, you gunna be livin' here? Can't say there's much privacy t'be had. MIght be better for ya to find a den outside if you don't like bein' inside."
"Fair enough." Sage replies, content with the easygoing response she receives. She loses herself in thoughts of things she can envision for the garden, but the words of the lizard woman give her pause. Her eyes blink a couple times, before she quickly glances around the garden. She breaks out into a chuckle as she imagines having a small corner designated as her home. She shakes her head that she barely restrains enough in her amusement. "No...no... I mean, taking care of it... as a job." She explains, still clearly amused at the suggestion.
Vyvian hikes her brows slightly t the chuckle, but has her curiosity met soon enough. She grins toothily in response and bobs her head. "That so? You a sort that likes plants, yeah? I'm in that kinda way too, though my dealin's are more with findin' the ways plants can cure a body. Though can't go restockin' on remedies 'til the snows and cold go for good. Winters are hard for findin' what ya need."
"You could say I've got a pretty green thumb." Sage replies, before tilting her head as she studies Vyvian for a moment. "But, it seems we have something else in common." She hms softly, "I've been a healer - amongst other things - where I came from. Most of those people came with me too." She falls quiet as she considers all that's she's been through lately.
Vyvian grins widely at that, which of course leads to a greater show of teeth. "Well ain't that nice t'hear. Mebbe we could put some nice herbs t'growin' in here then? Would be good for makin' sure we got some supplies year round. I ain't yet learned much of makin' things grow none. Usually I forage about for what I'm needin'."
"Maybe." Sage says, after being roused from her thoughtful moment. She glances briefly around the garden, "There are probably some plants that have some use here already... but one guy I met already seemed kinda picky about doing stuff to them." She shrugs, "But, someone else already suggested finding some land to make a garden on..." She purses her lips a moment, "I'll have to find out how long it'd take to arrange, though."
Vyvian bobs her head a little to that, then wonders, "Who's the picky one? Ain't like all healin' plants are bad t'look at. Some are downright pretty." She then grins a little and adds, "I know 'bout proerty n'such. I'm tryin' t'find out if I can dig in some area 'round here. See if mebbe I can find me somethin' worth sellin'. Mebbe some gems or gold. Mebbe some of that old stuff that folks pay lots for. One thing ole Vyvy is good at is diggin'."
Sage mmms softly, "I don't think I've seen him after I showed him up." She admits, glancing to the plant that she'd healed previously with a small satisfied smile on her lips. She looks back to Vyvian after a moment, "But, that's true enough. I still need to be hired on and ... figure out what I'm allowed to do first." She raises a brow at the mention of digging around for something valuable. "I probably wouldn't know what to look for... but could use extra top soil if I find a place to plant things."
Vyvian bobs her head a bit. "Well, not sure what kinda soil y'mean for that.. earth is earth t'me, but you can show me sometime. We'll go out an' you can watch me dig a bit. Show me what you're wantin'. Me an' the earth got an' understandin' an' I can move it, no problem." An easy confidence in that. She can do what she says, for sure.
"Its not hard to figure out once you see it." Sage comments, glancing briefly to Vyvian's hands with a curious expression before looking back towards her. "I'm guessing you find it easier than using a shovel." A twist of her lips showing that she doesn't consider a shovel to be all that great. "I suppose I may have to see it for myself." Then she pauses, "Are you going to have any protection if you do find anything... valuable?"
Vyvian doesn't have obvious digging claws of any sort, but she does look strong enough. The mention of a shovel brings a husky chuckle from the lizard woman. "Don't need no tools, honey. Don't need guards neither," she states with a casual air. "Easier t'see. A bit late to be goin' out t'day, but if we meet up another time when we got more daylight, ole Vyvy can show you her stuff."
The lack of digging claws only adds to the curiousity of how the lizard woman does it, but Sage simply nods. "That could be rather interesting to see." She comments, as her mind begins to idly consider the possibilities of how it may be done. "Maybe we'll have other things in common." She shrugs faintly at that, before pausing briefly. "I suppose it is getting close to the time for..." She glances towards the exist, and a soft sigh is given.
Vyvian cants her head slightly, glancing towards the exit as well. "Is gettin' late. That strange fog may be comin' soon." Her normal good cheer and general positivity take a subtle hit on that topic. "Don't suppose you're livin' outside.. I been out there when it's dark. LIke all the fog just hangs over the city an don't spread like how it's supposed ta. Strangest thing I ever did see."
Sage nods faintly in affirmation, becoming accustomed to the lowered moods around this time. She glances back to Vyvian, "I've been making temporary arrangements to sleep inside... might be getting something more permanent soon." She purses her lips a moment, "People have been telling me to stay inside while the fog is about too." She frowns faintly, "It certainly doesn't seem natural either."
"Ya, heard there is trouble late at night.. ain't run into none yet, but I don't usually linger long enough to be out in the fog. Or I stay inside. Vyvy can take care of herself, but ain't one to go lookin' for troubles," the lizard woman says. "I'd offer up, but my lil den is a secret I keep. Though I did spend a night with my lil Olyn in the stables once. Poor dear couldn't sleep. Misses me bein' cooped up in there."
"Hopefully someone will have some insights into it soon." Sage says, thinking of her own attempts in that matter. "And, its alright... as I said, I'll probably have something permanent soon enough." She gives a confused little frown at the mention of 'lil Olyn'. "I'm not sure who that is..." She admits, looking back to the exit. "I suppose I should head out soon to make sure my arrangements for tonight are still good." She says, almost to herself.
"He's my little sweetie. Mebbe before we go out for the show, we can go over an' I'll introduce ya," Vyvian says, her good humor buoying upward as if the undead and fog had already been banished. "He's sweet, once he knows ya, but that's the hard part." She grins widely then and reaches down to snag a few of the simple chocolate bars. "Best ya get movin', yeah, but have a little sweet t'take with ya. A good taste always helps the mood an' with what's goin' on out there, a pick up can go a long way." She offers up the chocolate.
"Ah. That should work well enough." Sage comments, as she begins to slowly rise to her feet. She'll take the offered sweets, "Thanks again, Vyvy." She says, "Hope to see you again soon." She tucks the chocolate away into one of her pouches, before moving off to go claim her winter gear from the check-in.
"No worries, honey. I'm about here sometimes. Swimmin' at the gym or workin' at the hospital in the Dregs," Vyvian tells Sage as she leans back a little, surveying her remaining candy. Going to have to pack it all up soon. But she glances up again and adds, "Be good now, honey." Then she'll start slipping the fallen Candy back into bags, preparing it all to be moved to her undisclosed location. Tags: sage, vyvian
