UNCOMMON MECHANICS
As is usual for this time of year, the bay doors are closed at Uncommon Mechanics but they are open. Several other mechanics are working this afternoon but Tek is at a table working on some paperwork off and away from everyone.
The door opens, and more snow comes in, though perhaps it might be getting a little better. A factory worker enters, complete with lunchbox and overalls tainted with a day's worth of hard work. However, as soon as the door closes behind him, another transformation takes place, and Gabriel emerges from the anonymous persona. Face once again strange, but obviously him, and he does nothing to hide it once indoors. Still, as this isn't his place, he tries to get someone's attention to make sure it's okay to cross the working floor to get to Tek.
Tek sees you as you come in and starts to look back down at his paperwork when he notices you change. After his double take and his eyes refocus he waves you over, "Hey there Gabe, come on over. How you doing today?"
"Oh, good, good. Working like everyone else," he says. Saying it even in a tone that would indicate fairly well that he means that he really has been working in a factory, and it's not necessarily just some kind of disguise for the purpose of being a disguise. "Place is pretty busy today! Galvin leave you in charge to do all the paperwork?" He easily crosses the distance to the table, though making sure to give the other technicians and their machinery a wide berth - no one likes to have people in their own personal area. He pauses at Tek's desk, looks at it... and then just puts his lunchbox on the ground. A few bends and twists get some audible cracks and a contented groan. "Oh. There we go. So, what do you think of the plan? Because a thought came to me, about you."
Tek shakes his head, "No no, he actually told me not to take city work. I thought it was cause they have much tighter specs that need to be followed and some parts need to be theirs specifically which is a bit of a pain but I had no freakin idea how much paperwork goes with it as well I think I will listen next time." Pushing paperwork to the side Tek gives Gabe his full attention, "What can I do differently in the plan do you think?" He seems genuinely curious to this new development.
"Differently," Gabriel says with a a mild roll of his shoulders, "I'm not sure. Maybe nothing. Certainly not cutting out anything yet planned. So really it I'll come to this question to see if it matters at all. When you plugged into their systems - or read them, found them whatever you call it - could you get a feeling for what the place was like? Wall thicknesses? Floors? Chambers that I didn't have on my diagram? Because I'm thinking.. of something." He smirks at the cryptically.
Tek shakes his head, "No it doesn't really work like that. If it were a vehicle I merged with I would know the whole place. With the building I only know where the surveillance system runs. I can add that to the map if it will help?"
Gabriel frowns a little, but not much. "Well, it was a shot. I was wistfully thinking that you might be able to tell me how thick the floor is, or if it's made out of the same armored material. Might have been able to just pop down to the vampires directly, hose 'em down and move on. But," he says with a pleasant smile, "If it's not doable, it's not doable. I don't need to know where the system is, as long as you can shut it off."
Tek shrugs, "I can definitely shut it down. Maybe Pavel can go in and scout out how thick it is. He seems to have powers that deal with metal."
"Who?" Gabriel raises a brow. "I guess we'll just have to find out on site. You think a Wilk's laser sword will help with the cutting, or should I just stay out of your way, and the other tech's way?"
Tek shrugs again, "You know I am not sure. I have never owned one before. Worth a try though. I would bring it with and we can give it a try."
Gabriel bobs his head and scratches at the back of his neck where the overalls grind against skin. "Yeah. Great weapon, when it's not sputtering out and you're not trying to block anything with it! Have a regular blade for that. But, hopefully I won't need them. Anyway. What do you think of the plan? Now that there's some time, have you thought of any missed details? Or special additions you think might be good?" His foot shifts as well as he flexes his ankle around the joint.
Tek shakes his head, "No not really. It is a shame that we can't just flood the place. Would make things easier if the vampires were dead before we got down into the basement." Still sitting behind the table Tek is still looking up to you and giving his undivided attention.
"Yeah. But they're locked inside what I'm sure at watertight chambers. We could flood the place, and all they need to do is slumber until it finally washes away." Gabriel shrugs, resigned to certain fates that can't be changed. "Anything that you can find to turn off, you probably should. *Except* for the lights. Keep them on. The vampires can see in the dark, so there's no reason to handicap ourselves by trying to use thermals and such."
Tek says, "I will think on it some more. IF I come up with anything else I will definitely let you know."
"Sounds good," Gabriel says as the conversation seems to be winding down. "Anything that you might be able to manufacture to toss in like light bulbs surrounded by another layer of glass, with crosses sandwiched in between? Might be able to use 'em like grenades or something. Just a thought." He stoops to pick up the large metal lunchbox.
Tek nods, "I will try and come up with something. I look forward to getting this little problem settled."
Sounds like people're workin late. 'R somethin. Ain't just alla stuff movin 'n flyin round outside neither. Bella comes walkin in. Maybe she's lookin fer s'more techie type stuff? She's gotta flamey shooter. She looks 'round. Calls up. "Anybody home?"
Gabriel turns his head to look toward the door, and spots Bella, giving her a short wave as he gathers to go. Perhaps wondering how she missed the four mechanics, the noise, and the sparks hitting the floor from grinding and welding. Who knows. He offers a quick, "Thanks, Tek. If you think of anything, just give me a call," and is then heading in Bella's direction - the door.
Uncommon Mechanics is busy today. Several mechanics are busy in the back bays working on various vehicles and weapons. Tek is at a worktable up near the front door working on paperwork. Seeing Bella and her flame thrower he waves her over, "Heya Bella, whacha bring me today girl?" Rasputin pages: Mink may be able too, all depends. Though, I would net likink you to hold it up, if mink am only one net available.
"Just lookin 'round." Bella shrugs. Then she's smirkin. Atta Gabe headin her way. "Heya. Out shoppin 'r somethin?"
As Gabriel approaches Bella, he begins to fade back into his clothes. Slouching only slightly as a tired factory worker, a limp as if something heavy might have been dropped on a foot, but being tough enough not to complain. Eyes both on the ground, but in the air as well - tired, but aware. Even his face isn't exactly his face. It's a faux-Gabriel with different lines. A different tempo to his footsteps, a different cadence in his voice. Even a different tone, and no drawl. In fact not just no drawl, but some hint of another drawl. Crazy or paranoid, one of these is possible. "Hello, Bella. Nope, not shopping. Just talking. Wondered what our friend can do. You want to head out and hit up some coffee or something?"
Bella's brow pops up. Since the sorta Gabe's goin to more not Gabe. "Uh. Guess I can. Somethin up? R' ya just jonesin fer coffee?" Li'l more smirk. He's got her notice. If she's got somethin special she's wantin with Tek it ain't that important.
Gabriel-not-Gabriel waves back at Tek, saying nothing but expressing appreciation for his time through body language. Bella receives a nod of her own before he opens the door and exits Uncommon Mechanics and into the snow.
