Equipment Modification
While some things are case by case, in general, if you are installing one piece of equipment into another it will take 1/5th the purchase cost of the modifying part in additional parts.
For every failed roll it will require and additional 25% time for the work and an additional 1/5th the purchase cost in additional parts.
For example, when adding a Thermal Imaging Band into a normal EBA helmet it will cost 1/5th purchase cost of the Thermal Imaging Band. If the roll is failed, then it will cost another 1/5th and 25% more time.
There are a few exceptions, in the case of something which is designed for modifying the item. Then no additional cost for parts.
If an NPC installs it will cost 1/4 the cost of the item in labor.
For example, if someone is installing a custom grip on a pistol. It would cost an additional 1/5th for parts. And if an NPC was to do it, 1/4rd additional cost.
PCs can charge what they desire of course.
Two notes: First, no economy or flux should be used in determining the 1/5th of parts. And if the item being modified or item used to modify is non-standard technology an additional modifier may be applied.
Holdout Speed Holster
The Holdout Speed Holster (WB 11: Juicer Uprising p74) is NOT intended to be used with large pistols. It is designed for small 'holdout' style weapons.
It can be used for for larger weapons, but they will NOT be concealable and mounted in a very obvious fashion.
When used in combat, it provides a +3 initiative bonus. If used to initiate combat with the weapon concealed, then the attacker automatically wins initiative. But the defender may attempt a parry or dodge to defend. Shots used in a quick-draw fashion can not be called-shots or aimed shots.
Multi-Optic Helmet
Multi-Optic helmets may be built into the helmet of any EBA suit without penalty to the MDC value. However, installing an MOH in an EBA helmet with existing special optics may destroy built in optics. Smaller individual additions, such as thermal imaging, may be added for fee on a case-by-case basis.
Naruni Force Fields
Question: The Naruni Force Field description states that these it is not possible to wear these bandoleers under armor. Does this mean it can be worn under EBA but not work or that it physically can't be worn under EBA?
ANSWER: The answer is both. It can not activate while under the armor of EBA or non-EBA. Furthermore, physically there isn't enough space between the normal breast plate of suit of armor and the wearer's chest.
Question: Can one of the Naruni Force Field bandoleers be worn under a heavy sweater or other normal clothing?
ANSWER: Yes, the bandoleer can be worn under normal clothing. The clothing can not be made of MDC. Thus MDC Clothing even if partial can not be worn over the Naruni Force Field.
Repairing Equipment
See Repair Costs for this information.
Scope Mounting
Question: Can I mount one scope on top of each other to gain the functionality of both?
Answer: In most cases no. As this is fairly silly and just not practical. In some cases you may even incur a penalty.
Telescopic Scope
Question: In RUE p264 and in MercOps p119 there is a Telescopic Scope. They appear to almost be the same optic, but they have slightly different capabilities. Are they the same?
ANSWER: Yes, these are the same thing and you should use the following stat block for them on Rifts: CoK.
Telescopic Scope, 10x Magnification, made from rugged durable material. Range: 6000 ft. Bonus of +1 to Strike on Aimed Shots only. Cost: 1000 credits.
Thermal Imaging
Question: Could someone with a thermal imaging equipment spot that a person had an open and bleeding wound due to the open wound being warmer?
Answer: This is unlikely, most of the thermal imaging equipment isn't designed for this level of granularity. Though, if someone was wearing fairly heavy clothing or body armor, which reduced the body's thermal pattern significantly. And the person had an open exposed wound, then it would show up in the contrast between the cooler covering/armor and the wound.
