Discipline
From Chronicles
Because the people on this mux are human, there are times when we will have to step in and tell our players that sometimes, something they are doing is not alright. Most often, this is a matter of a mistake or a misunderstanding, and this happens to us all at times. The staff here will do all we can to smooth those over and move on. We are not, however, stupid, and the spirit of the rules lives here as much as the letter. Loopholes may work on tax lawyers, they don't with mux admin. By creating your character here, you agree to abide by our rules. Think of us as a benevolent dictatorship, rather than a democracy.
We have clear expectations of, and from our players, that we will treat each other with politeness, if not courtesy. We have an expectation that staff will not be abused, badgered, harrassed or treated with anything less than the respect due to people who give up their time to make it possible for you to play a game you enjoy. In return, we aim to act professionally, not to let personal feelings have an impact on decisions involving a player, and to be fair and reasonable.
- We expect the player not to engage in behaviour damaging to the game, either the concept or the server itself.
- No OOC harrassment is permitted. Should a player ask that you cease an OOC behaviour, then it is expected that you will.
- Advertising of this mush on other mushes or any other location should be done with the agreement of the head admin. Advertising of other mushes is welcome here, once permission has been sought from the admin.
- Characters idle more than two calender months risk being idlenuked, if the player has not discussed their absence with a member of staff.
- The rules apply to everyone. This includes players, staff and staff PCs. Players should, if they have reasonable cause, not hesitate to speak out about offenses by the staff. Reasonable claims will be listened to.
- When a player is disciplined by the staff, any appeal should be conducted one on one with staff. It should be understood that the staff will listen to a player's appeal, but should it be rejected the player is expected to accept this decision. Attempts to make it public or garner support from other players won't effect a staff decision.
- Excess spamming is not welcome here. This includes excessive @Mail, queue, channel and other forms of spam where messages are sent in excess of reasonable need. This extends to the forum and the wiki.
- We aim to create a friendly community here, a community that is welcoming and incusive. If you cannot work within the boundaries of the rules and the expectations of courtesy, we ask that you leave quietly and without undue flouncing and drama.
There are other occasions when we will be required to bring discipline to bear, and if this is the case, we endevour to follow these guidelines.
1. First Warning This will be sent by @mail to the person's main char, cc'd to all staff. It will be stated clearly what the person has done and what we expect them to change. The hope is that we can move on from there with no problems in the future.
2. Second Warning If we have a repeat breach of any rules in the month after the first warning, the player will receive a second warning. This is again @mailed to the player's char, and cc'd to the staff. The mail will contain clear information on the offense and the expectation of the staff. If there is no repeat breach of the rules within the following month, the level drops down to the first warning, and then, if there is no breach during a month, we will move on. However, a player that steps up and down several times over a course of several months will be left at level 2 after the third time.
3. Suspension If the player goes on to breach rules during that month, they will receive a suspension, for all chars. They will be removed from grid and suspended. The player will be sitebanned for a period of one week, after which they are welcome to come and discuss their suspension with the admin.
4. Siteban If the player continues to mess up, spread rumours, or in any way causes a problem for the mux, they will receive a siteban. They will be no longer welcome, and will receive no further consideration from the staff. The players' chars will be nuked, and their IP banned, and a post will be made detailing the reasons for this, including past history.
