From Chronicles
Logfile from Rifts.
The current game time is: Tue Dec 13 18:03:49 106 PA. Dregtown Trailer Park - Isabeau's Lot
With a little help, Sage manages to make her way to Isabeau's lot in the trailer park. She brings a white box that's taped shut on one side to keep the lid from being lifted up. She raises her hand to knock on the door, hoping that she hasn't come at a bad time.
The cold weather has Isabeau inside her trailer, a thick shawl wrapped about her shoulders to guard her warmth to her. There's also a pot of tea sitting on the table, steaming, and a mug of the same sitting there as well. As the knock sounds on the door, she turns to look towards it, curiosity touching her expression, and she wraps her chilled fingers around her mug. Rising to her feet, she steps towards the door to look through the peep hole in it, and to seeing Sage waiting there, she unbolts and then opens the door. "Come on in, Sage," Isabeau says, warmth in her voice.
A small smile comes to Sage's lips as the other woman opens the door and invites her in. "Thank you." She murmurs as she steps into the place that Isabeau calls home. "I hope this is a good time." She adds, before setting the box aside for the time being as she begins to shed the unneeded extra layers she wears.
Isabeau raises an eyebrow slightly, and then she smiles again before giving a small nod. "You're welcome," she offers. Once Sage is inside, she closes the door and, out of habit, locks it again. "It's not a bad time, so not to worry. Would you care for some tea?" she offers, glancing towards the tea pot there on the table.
"I'm glad to hear it." Sage replies softly with a smile, "And tea would be nice, thank you." She adds, before taking up the box and walking over to the table with chairs. "I hope everything is going well enough for you these days." She comments, before nudging the box slightly towards where she expects Isabeau to sit down. The tape side ready to be cut to reveal whatever lies within. . The redheaded woman steps to the cupboard, first, to retrieve another mug. This in hand, she returns to the table to settle it where Sage will set, and then she pushes the teapot in that direction. "Help yourself, if you like... it's not been made for long," she offers, a smile touching her lips. As she settles her mug back to the table, she looks to the white box there on the table, curiosity reflecting in her eyes. Since it's been nudged her way, she doesn't ask the obvious question and does, instead, use a fingernail to cut the tape on the box. Opening it, then, Isabeau lowers her gaze to it, to see what's inside.
"Thank you." Sage replies softly as she gathers the mug and the teapot to pour herself some tea. She only keeps half an eye on what the other woman is doing, but smiles to herself when the other woman opens the box. She hopes she correctly remembered the treat that Isabeau seems to prefer. "I would have made it myself, but I didn't have the ingredients... and I wanted to talk to you about something." She raises her gaze to consider the other woman. There's a small glint of doubt in her eyes as to whether she remembered properly, but she blows slowly on her tea to try and hide that.
"You're welcome," she says, a smile tugging her lips. Her gaze falls again to the revealed treat in the box, and she gives a little squeal of delight. "Ah, it looks delicious!" she says, her blue eyes showing a bright sparkle to them. The chocolate mint torte inside was something she was in the mood for, and she closes the lid and nudges the box to the side, to save the treat for later. No doubt to share it with Etienne. Lifting her mug of tea to take a sip, she then tilts her head slightly to one side. "Oh? What sort of something?" she inquires, her tone holding curiosity to it.
A soft chuckle escapes Sage as her friend gives the squeal to her prsent and a warm smile comes to her lips. "You could have one now if you wish." She comments, unsure of what the other woman may intend by closing the box once more. She doesn't dwell on it long as she sips on her tea lightly before looking back to Isabeau. "Something I think you'll like as well...although, I don't think it'll delight you quite as much as those." She nods faintly towards the box with a sparkle of amusement in her own eyes and the curve of her lips. "But, remember that time we went into the junkyard and we both said that we thought there could be a better way?" She asks softly, pausing briefly to let the other woman respond one way or the other before continuing. "Well, I was thinking of forming a group for those like you and I." She comments, "I doubt we'll be able to make huge differences in the way things are done in the city... but we can keep an eye out for possibilities, commune with nature, and whatever else may be helpful. And... I think I know a way that such a group could gain reputation - or at least credibiliity - with a first act." She pauses, lifting her mug back to her lips as her gaze looks over the rim to consider the other's reaction.
Isabeau raises an eyebrow slightly, and then she gives a light shake of her head. "I could, but I think I'll save it for dinner's dessert tonight, after Etienne is back," she says, a smile touching at the corners of her lips. It'll be a treat for him as much as it is for her. A glance is given the box, but then her gaze settles on Sage, listening, and she tilts her head slightly to one side. "Aye, I remember... at least, mostly," she comments, a bit of a blush touching her cheeks. She had been drinking that time, after all. "Forming a group sounds like a good idea, to me. And I'm interested to hear what you have in mind, for this first task," she says, her tone holding a thoughtful cast to it.
"I suppose your breath did have a certain odour that day." Sage teases lightly, before she slips her tea once more to hide her smile as the other woman is already blushing. Although, once the idea is met positively by the other like it had been when she spoke to her partner, Sage smiles softly. "Well, I've heard about a lake that seems to be... polluted somehow. I am not sure what life remains within it, but the plants along its banks suffer as well. And, there is something in the middle of it that is likely the source." She comments, before pausing briefly. "Fortunately I've found someone who would be able to help us figure out the particulars... but, I imagine restoring that lake would be sufficiently impressive... if we can manage to get things organized and no one else decides to take it on as a pet project, of course."
The redheaded woman listens attentively as the situation is explained, and she raises an eyebrow slightly, considering it for a lingering moment. "Hmm," she muses, pausing to lift her mug to take a drink of the tea within. "It sounds to be quite a project, though I'm sure that with our combined skills -- you, me, and whoever else joins the group -- that we should be able to clean up the lake and improve the health of the plants both in the lake and on the shore," she says, a smile touching at the corners of her lips. "What sort of thing do you think is in the middle?" she inquires, raising an eyebrow slightly, finding herself intrigued by it.
"It wont be easy." Sage agrees, musing over her mug of tea. "But, I dare say that is why it is very suitable for our purposes." Her expression becomes thoughtful as she sips from her tea. She rouses from the thoughtfulness at the question. "I can only guess at this point." She admits, "Perhaps a container with unwanted materials inside... or any number of things." She gives a faint shrug, before taking a sip from her mug. "I suppose we'll find out."
"Mmm... I wouldn't expect something like that to be easy. Though... once whatever's out in the lake causing the problem is removed and dealt with, then healing the lake and the area around it shouldn't be too bad," she muses, her tone holding a thoughtful cast to it. Lifting her tea mug again, she takes another sip of it, savouring the flavour of the steamy brew. "Indeed... I suppose we'll find out. Though I wonder if some manner of creature could cause such a thing to have happened," Isabeau comments, her brow furrowing slightly. The notion is the product of an active imagination rather than being based on any fact.
"Let us hope not." Sage replies softly, with a nod to acknowledge her own agreement with the assessment. She sips lightly from her tea before raising a brow to the notion of a creature being the cause. "I am not sure..." She comments after a moment of thought. "Enough waste of any sort in the wrong place could be harmful... but the person that noticed the problem mentioned no sign of creatures. I think her words were that the land cried out to her... but, perhaps this... hypothetical creature has since moved on." She pauses before chuckling to herself, "I'm sure we could come up with possibilities all day... which may end up being more fun than the task itself." She gives a small smile before shaking her head gently.
Isabeau lifts one of her shoulders in a faint shrug, and then she gives a small nod. "Nor am I. Though it is something to take into consideration, I suppose, depending on if it is possible or not," she says softly, her tone holding a thoughtful cast. "Though, as you say... there are likely many possibilities to the cause and we could hypothesize for hours. Something to worry more on when the lake is actually searched to find the cause," she comments, a smile touching her lips, her blue eyes showing a hint of a sparkle.
"Indeed." Sage replies, before pursing her lips and considering the other woman for a moment. "Is this the part where we decided the special ceremony to induce you into the group and work on a special handshake?" She asks with a light tone and a smile. Isabeau laughs lightly, her blue eyes taking on a sparkle of amusement to them, and then she winks at Sage. Another sip of tea is taken from the mug before it's returned to the table, and a smile teases at the corners of her lips. "Well, if you like, I'm sure we can come up with something," she comments, her tone holding amusement to it.
The wink draws a quick grin from Sage as she settles the mug on the table. "I'm sure, we can." She agrees, before she begins to stand up. "I think I'll start with something simple first, though." She steps around the table towards where Isabeau is sitting. She makes a gesture for the other woman to stand with her with a small smile.
A grin quirks into place, lighting her features, and she watches Sage, listening as well. "Something simple is often best," she comments, her eyes showing a sparkle of both amusement and curiosity. When Sage steps around the table to where she sits, she complies to the unspoken request and after releasing her mug to the table, she smoothly rises to her feet and turns to face Sage.
Once the other woman stands before her, Sage edges a little closer before leaning in to offer the woman an embrace. "Thank you for your friendship and may it only grow as we find new things to try together." She says the second part with a bit of amusement. "And, if you need anything, please let me know." She lets Isabeau decide how long or short the embrace will be, but when it ends she gives Isabeau a soft smile.
Isabeau tilts her head faintly to one side, briefly, then steps into the hug offered. It's accepted willingly and let to linger for quite a moment. She doesn't get many hugs, and so she cherishes those that she does get. "Thank you, too," she says softly, giving Sage a light squeeze in the hug before withdrawing from it. "And I'll be sure to do that, I promise. And if you need anything, please let me know... I'll do what I can," she says softly, giving a small nod and a warm smile to Sage.
When the hug lingers, Sage lets her hands rub gently along the other's back in a gesture of comfort. "Okay." She replies softly, her gaze considers the other woman's face for a moment while warmth creeps into her own smile. "Oh... come to think of it, let me know if you or Etienne hear of or know of any artefacts that could be considered the embodiment of nature. We will need a symbol, after all." She comments before she starts to shift the topic back to some small talk and her eventual departure.
