SAGE ALTERNATIVES HALLWAY
Fizzlesnoot removes his hat, holding it in front of him with both hands and gives the woman greeting them an eerie and toothy smile, but it seems friendly for the most part, or is it, "Hello miss. I was wondering if I might speak or make an appointment to speak with the Sage from the sign out front. My name is Fizzlesnoot, and my friend here, is Jaxain." Happy to be set to wait, he looks to Jax, "Have you ever met Sage?"
Jaxain nods, "I've known her, technically, for a year or so now, but we only meet now and then. We've had business in the past several times, and I trust her and am glad we have a chance to work with her again." He looks around at the shop, "Though this place is new. Only my second time here. Cute girls!" As he is ushered upstairs to meet their hostess. He's really hoping the drinks and snacks will be as good as last time.
While Maria is a pleasant greeter, she does give Sage some advanced warning before letting the men upstairs. It seems Sage is in a good mood today as she has music playing and she seems to be humming along to herself when the upstairs is reached and the exchange between Maria and her takes place. "Show them in." She says simply as she composes herself a little. Her gaze shifting to the two as they enter. "Hey..." She greets them simply, "What brings the two of you by?"
Jaxain holds up the staff and says, "Ta daaaaa!" And does a short pose for applause.... then carries on. "Fizz here has a lot of information about the staff, I borrowed the staff from my buddy Tek and did a psychic read on it, and we are ready to take a look at the map and see what we can figure out. Sound good?" He looks between the two... sentients... questioningly.
Fizzlesnoot follows to where they are led up the stairs. Giving a slight bow of his odd shaped head in greeting, along with his creepy trademark smile, to Sage. He also nods in agreement with Jaxain, "I don't know if what I know about the staff is important. Just what led me to it and here. You have the leather piece that was lost?"
Sage only greets Jaxain's antics with a little amusement, "Ah... I see." She replies softly, "I have done a reading on the map myself." She replies, before glancing over towards the little D-bee. She nods faintly. "It may be misleading to call it a leather piece, but I suspect the same might be said about the staff - perhaps." She comments thoughtfully, "Would either of you care for something before we get down to the business at hand?" She asks softly.
Jaxain is a very shy and introverted person, so it is shocking when his eyebrows raise and he says, "Yeah! Do you have any of those little sandwiches left from last time?" With a hopeful look and he makes his way deeper into the room. "Sage, this is Fizzlesnoot, a friend of mine and a master merchant. Fizzlesnoot, this is Sage, a healer and a woman of beauty and wisdom. And a friend I trust."
Fizzlesnoot grins modestly when introduced, "I don't know about Master merchant yet, but I make my way in the world. A glass of whiskey if your able Miss Sage. May I ask what you read from the map?"
Sage chuckles softly to Jax's enthusiastic response, "I'll see if I find some for you." She replies, before looking towards the D-Bee. "That would be downstairs, though." She comments, "There hasn't been much call for it up here." She comments "Please sit, make yourselves comfortable." She adds, "As for the map, it is more of a magic map." She adds as she begins to move off towards the kitchen for the time being. "It seems to let the bearer request a location to be displayed. Unfortunately, Elderly Elf woman's home doesn't seem to be one of those things."
Jaxain takes a seat and waits happily for the 'sammiches to arrive. Ahh, food, the true way to a twenty year old boy's heart. "Hmmm. Well if we put together what you know." He looks at Fizz, "With what I saw in the vision, maybe we can come up with more." He looks at Fizz, "What exactly did you learn about this again."
Fizzlesnoot politely smiles finding a comfortable place to sit, his feet dangling from even the lowest of chairs, his bag set down right next to him, "Thank you. That's ok, I can make do without. You wouldn't be able to get the elf woman's home. It no longer exists. Try asking for the place where the elf woman's family is held captive. That may be more helpful."
"There are other options, of course." Sage notes to Fizzlesnoot, "Or I can make sure you get some on the way back out." She offers, before she pulls out a plate from the refrigerator. She also brings out a couple glasses, figuring there will be something at some point. She sets these near the men before moving to reclaim the map from a place that is out of sight from the men. "Ah, that would explain it." She comments before she returns with the pouch in her hand which she is removing the map. She focuses her thoughts on the suggestion the D-Bee made for location.
For those who can see the map, it goes into motion, the little Kingsdale icon becoming smaller and smaller, creeping slightly from the bottom of the leather piece toward the center. But only slightly. It's simply a feeling of zooming out. After a moment, the motion stops, and on the extreme left, there blazes a golden flash that lasts for seconds. When done, there is a small insignia of what may be a few buildings or large homes. Not a town, it's not that detailed. Like the Kingsdale insignia, it is as if it had been branded on the leather decades ago.
Jaxain raises an eyebrow, silent for a moment in amazement. "Holy crap." he says, looking at the other two as he swallows his last bite of the sandwich. "Ok, well I guess now we know where we are going!" he smiles, and passes the staff to Sage, "I have to return it, but maybe holding both of these together will give you some more information as well."
Fizzlesnoot looks to the plate as it is set before them and it is not long that the temptation is too much and he helps himself to some of the snacks. He is not the neatest of eaters, but that would appear to not be helped. The finger-like appendages stuffing the food down his throat as he swallows. The sight can be somewhat unsettling for those unaccustomed to such a display. Despite it all he is quite interested in the map when it is brought out. He watches intently as the images move, a slow broadening smile when finally the other little town appears. "Well isn't that nifty."
Taking note of both men seemingly to partake of the food, Sage offers, "Just let me know if you want anything to wash it down with. Water, juice, a liqueur." She offers, before smiling a little as she looks to the map. "That is handy. I was worried we'd need the actual name of the place to find it." She comments, before shifting her attention to the staff. She considers it a moment before deciding it likely wouldn't do any harm. Presumably the Elf woman was able to carry both. And, Jax did make a reading on it.
Jaxain nods, passing the staff to Sage and watching intently for any reaction. He would indeed like a drink, but there are more pressing matters afoot at the moment. "Well, do you feel anything? There is a good spirit in the staff that may be of use."
Fizzlesnoot sits back to watch and listen for the moment, allowing the mystic types do their readings or what have you on the walking stick. He does comment politely, "Thank you. Anything will do. Though I'm favored to the whiskey Miss Sage. I'm still quite interested in hearing about the actual reading on the map, or whatever it was that enabled you to figure out the map. It will round out the whole tale when retold." He waits on a reply on all that, as the walking stick is handed to her to see what she can find out or just happens.
Sage has a mild look of surprise pass over her features for a bit moment before simply considering the staff. She chuckles faintly to the man's question, "Oh, I feel something. But, it's not insight into the situation, per say." She comments before offering the staff back. "I think it may be useful at some point, though." She comments to Jax, before looking to Fizzlesnoot. "I read it psychically. I sensed the Elderly Elf was a good person and was understandably sad when she came here." She comments, "As for the map, I could sense its purpose and how it works. You don't need to speak to it, necessarily. Just focus on what you want to see." She adds, before shrugging faintly. "Otherwise, I'm not sure there's much else to say."
Jaxain nods, smiling, as he looks at his two companions. "Alright! So we have a plan and a location. I will obviously be going, and I believe Tek as well." He looks at sage, "Fizz here isn't all that hot on combat, but he's a decent medic in a pinch." He looks at the D-Bee to confirm this, but it was the observation he made in their last foray. "So we will probably need a bit more muscle. Sebastien, maybe, Bella?"
Fizzlesnoot nods to her portion of the story, "Did you get anything about the family she came seeking help for?" keeping it short as he does want to know her reply before continuing. With the mention of medic he shakes his head, "Oh no, I'm no medic. Just have some useful things at times. Just a humble merchant." then looks back to Sage curious still if she knows more of the story.
Sage purses her lips before she looks between the two. "Don't forget about Valeriya. It wouldn't hurt to have someone with useful magic on this." She comments, "I'm not quite sure who else to ask just yet." She concedes before looking over to the D-Bee. She shakes her head, "No, readings don't give the life story, just a snapshot, really." She comments before shrugging. "I have a fair touch at healing myself, though." She mentions.
Jaxain nods to Sage, "True, she could come in useful. I don't have the coin, or the desire, to hire her however, and it galls me slightly that she would demand payment before even setting out." He shrugs, "But I suppose everyone is different. If she is paid up front, she should take no share of whatever loot we may happen upon. But I doubt she will agree to that." He smirks.
Fizzlesnoot gives a nod to Sage, "If you're going to hire a mercenary, then why not just raise the money to buy the family back from the slavers? I'll have to talk to ya later about it though, if you both don't mind. I must be going, I need to try and catch the end of the business day. Those trinkets won't sell themselves."
"She likes to have a price negotiated first... not paid first." Sage points out before shrugging, "I've worked with her before." She mentions, before looking to the D-Bee. "And there is a difference between buying a family from slavers and hiring a mercenary." She states simply, "But, we will talk later." She decides simply, "Especially about this 'plan' we supposedly have."
Jaxain nods, "Oh... well I suppose that's a bit different..." He shrugs, "But I agree. Destroying the slavers is more important. We have no plan yet, but we will soon."
