Kingsdale - Yakov's Deli: Basement(#2584Rh)
This is the heart of the Deli, meat grinders, several walk-in freezers. It is a Vegitarian's nightmare that is for sure.
With all of the various tools and equipment, this area is kept very clean and very tiddy.

Sage has arrived.
Rasputin has yet again prepared or purchases a series of different well cut pieces of leather. He turns to you and smiles, "Da, goodink da? I am thinkink dis better for us to beink startink over from start. So much time has passed. I will be good listener, da?"
As the man displays the skins that he has, Sage gets a small smile on her lips. "Those look good." She comments before pursing her lips. "Alright, let's start with some basic things." She eyes the skins, "Let's get the measurements for you to make this coat. Without that, we can't really do anything." Rasputin nods slowly, he takes of his usualy bright white appron and streches out his arms, "Da, you measure mink. Mink measure you, da? So I am learnink how to be doink. Da?"
Sage nods in response, "Alright, fair enough." She replies before takes out a roll of measuring tape from one of her pockets. "I'll measure the arm's first." She comments as she moves to stand closer to the man. She first takes a moment to measure the length of the arm from the shoulder to base of his hand. "Its generally a good idea to have the sleeve a little too long than not long enough." She comments before pausing to record the measurement on a small pad of paper with a pen. "It'll also be a good idea measure around the arm." She demonstrates by measuring around the upper arm. "Some people have thicker arms than others... but an average can be taken usually if you are mass-producing."
Rasputin nods slowly as he watches your movement with intent eyes, "Da, da. I am seeink what you are doink. Mink sure dhat won't be massink producink, but goodink to be knowink. Da." He cants his head slightly, "Why would you be makink the sleeves longers? I would be thinkink you would want to be makink dhem just right?"
Sage chuckles as she copies down the man's upper arm measurement, "I figured you wouldn't be... but, in case you're wondering how things are done in bulk. Its about catering to the average." She comments, "But, you'll want to make it slightly bigger since the material may shrink a little ... and you may want to make a nicer cuff." She comments, "Now, there is the body itself." She comments, "The chest and midsection can be a couple good places to measure as well... depending on the build you're making it for..." She comments, as she goes about measuring those two areas.
Rasputin tries to remain still and only move his head a little so he can look at where and how you are taking the measurements. "Da, da," his voice softly rumbles out as he pays close attention to your work.
Rasputin says something softly to himself in Russian and then sheepishly asks, "Whattink about a woman, da? Shouldink you be taking different measurements, to be takink into accouting, uh." He pauses a little bit as you measure his lower waiste, "Uh, breasts."
Sage nods fainly before giving an amused knowing look, "Yes, you will need to figure out how much... extra room to allow for. Stretching the hide will typically be best to avoid throwing off the proportion of the clothing." She comments, "I can measure my breasts if you wouldn't be comfortable with it." She pauses, "Now then, the best way to measure the length is to measure along the back as its usually straightest." She adds before she moves around behind. "You'll want to place the tape about her..." She presses her finger in a little harder than necessarily up near the man's neck, "and here..." She comments, pressing her finger around the man's waist line. "Again, leaving some extra."
Rasputin smile as he ponders a moment, "Da, da. OK." He feels the pressure and nods again, then stops so he doesn't throw off the measurements. "So, agains mores is better so you are net makink error or can do more stuff at bottoms?"
"Exactly, you can't cover up an error if there's no material to adjust." Sage comments as she records this last measurement. "Also, you may want a collar up at the top depending on the style you prefer." She comments, "Now, shall we draw up a general plan for the coat?" She offers.
Rasputin turns around and nods. He goes over to the work bench, pulls out a large sheet of leather as if you are to go to the leater right away. He pulls out a very sharp, almost scaple style knife. He eyes it and then turns to you waits for you to show him what to do next. He smiles and then asks, "Da, were mink measurements doink good? Da?" He tugs his beard, "Should I net be tainkink yours?"
"Let's not make the cuts just yet." Sage comments before producing a kind of market that's safe to use on the hide itself. She places the pad with the measurements. "Oh, there is one more thing to measure." She mentions before she comes back to quickly measure the width of the man's shoulder and marking it down on the paper. "And, we can get to my measurements in a moment. I just want to show you the rough idea of using your's... then we can discuss how my measurements would differ." She comments, before making a couple simple marks. "This is about the length of your torso. then she adds another mark, "Your shoulder's..." She comments before making another mark, "Your torso again." She continues to explain. "Now let's take my measurements before we start talking about the width.
Rasputin puts down the knife and then watches you mark down on the sheet of leather. "Da, da. Soink you are making out the outline first, da?" He chuckles, "Net cuttink to start, first markink everythink out." He smiles and thinks about all of this for a few moments, "Dis makink much more ense, da." He looks at the outline and then makes the comment, "Mink bodie is kind of short and squad, da. And mink beink tall for my people." He chuckles and then stops and looks to your instruction all serious, but with a small grin.
"Let me get the awkward measurements out of the way first. You copy it down." Sage comments as she wraps the tape around her to width including her breasts and reads off the measurement for it before measuring approximately how far down from her shoulder they are and reads that off too. "Now then, you can measure the rest and then we'll talk about how to handle my measurements relative to your's." She comments before offering over the tape measure to the man.
Rasputin chuckles and nods, he takes down your measurements and then take the tape. He slowly, carefully takes your measurements. He double checks a few times, and writes down each one. He draws a small torso, and labels each one like a mechanical drawing. The process takes him much longer than you took, even with you explaining it. Rasputin also forgets about the down the back, and the neck size.
Sage is content to wait as she man takes her measurements, complying with moving her arms or straightening out as needed. When the man seems to think he's done, she quietly reminds him. "Don't forget about how long the coat needs to be..." She prompts to see if it'll jog the man's memory.
Rasputin blinks at you for a moment, and begins to measure down the front of you, then stops. He chuckles, "Da, da." He walks around you, and measures from the base of your neck to your waistline. "Da, goodink hint da." He double checks it, and then writes it down. He looks around and ponders, "Mink forgettink anything," He says to himself as he double checks things, "Net, da? Goodink?" He looks to you.
Sage gives the man a mildly amused look as he comes to her front to measure at first before nodding when he catches himself. "The neck itself is one area that is fairly standard for most people with the exception of a rather muscular person." She comments, "But, for the initial outline... its the least of your concerns." She comments before she comes back to hide. "Now then, width can be like length in that extra isn't bad because it can be trimmed off. It also gives you a margin for error when you need to stretch." She comments, "So..." She turns her attention hide once more. "you can always extend the profile a little extra." She pauses, before looking over to the man, "How good at stretching hide are you?"
Rasputin nods slowly as he takes all of this in. He nods listening, "Da, neck. Net now dhough, da." He then looks to the leather and nods, "Da, I am goodink at strechink. I have hoops and thinks to help with dhat. Da?" He looks to it, "Is dhat if I am makink mistake? Or dis it done normaly as part of the process?"
Sage nods faintly, "Well, for a woman, you'll want the stretch to favor the lower part of the material. Perhaps after we're done with the plans for the coat.. you can make up plants for a hat or something that requires stretching." She makes a hand gesture to indicate the lower part of her breasts. "But, its good to have a better margin for error to start out with... because we can always make adjustments. As you get better, you'll be ale to work with a slimmer margin for error." She pauses before looking back to the hide before she works in the width markings. "That should do it for the torso... the arm's are a bit simpler." She comments, as she marks off the length of the arm, "And, the extra length on the arm can also be used to make sure you have the flexibility for the elbow."
Rasputin looks over the plans and the leather. Then he kinds of shifts it around, he chalks a few marks on the leather. But does not cut any of it. He tries to visualize the leather turning into a coat and where you might need to streach the leather to make it fit correctly. He tugs his beard a bit, and of course gets chalk in his beard. He mutters to himself and casts a spell to clean his hands, and beard. He smiles, "Da, da. I am seeink. Dhough, I am thinkink dhat I will be needink to be tryink to make somethink. I am havink hard times visualizink mentally, da. Dis OK, for me to be tryink?"
Sage stands back to let the man make whatever marks he feels like making. She considers the marks with a thoughtful look. Then she nods faintly and offers a small smile, "Yes, I think its about time to make the cuts... just remember to make sure you keep the blades sharp. Sharpen it after each cut if you need to... do you have any questions before we wrap up this meeting?"
Rasputin shakes his head, "Net, net. I will beink makink a coat," He stops, "Net, I will be tryink to be makink a coat for mink and yous. Dhough, I am wonderink how dhey will turnink out." He chuckles, "Mink sure dhey won't be perfect, but da, dis a start." He smiles.
"Let's take it one step at a time." Sage replies, "But, I'll look forward to trying on a new coat." She adds with a small smile, "Take care until we get together for the next part." She offers a small wave before she makes her way back towards the stairs and making her way up to depart.
Rasputin waves as he measures the leather again, carefully making sure it all lines up. He doesn't cut until he has measured at least three or four times. He is super careful and then he begins to cut...
