Raina chuckles softly as she shakes her head. "I am really not sure. She has been working on the something dealing with mechanicals and magicks."

Cassius nods, and points, "ah! right you mean she's a Techo-Wizard. Imbues magic onto machiens right? ya wanna know what...if she IS a techno-mage, and not just a user of the items. You might wanna get her real gems. They always need real gemstones"

Raina hmms softly and nods. "That I would not be getting here then. More likely I should seek out the bank."

Vargus steps in and gives the place a brief glance, then tilts his head to the side and sits as if listening to some soft sound. He shakes his head a little and sticks his right hand behind him, pausing a moment as the chitin armor covering him liquifies and flows off of him, and down his arm.

Cassius nods his head, "Well she can certinally use em, and their valuable, so if that's a decent gift, for a techno wizard and..." he stops and looks over to vargus as he comes in, "Hello"

Raina hmms softly as she turns as well to watch the liquified armor flow and shudders. "That is interesting stuff, if I don't say so."

Cassius laughs, "What magic? ya ya it is..." he turns to offer his hand to Raina, "I'm Cassius...I'm a perofrming mage. How are you?"'

Raina looks at the hand held out to her. Then remembers that she should accept it. She folds her own hand around in and gives a light squeeze. "Raina, merc and other things."

Cassius nods and he shakes it, "Raina, nice to meet ya, who's your frined? if she's a mage I guess I'll meet her soon enough" he smiles, "But yup, performing mage, been doing showsi n the park, at least untill that undead attack in the graveyard"

Vargus gives Cassius a wave and Raina a greeting as well. "Morning, all." he smirks at Raina, "Yeah, the armor's pretty strange.. got it in South America."

Desmond arrives from the street. Desmond has arrived.

Raina hmms softly as she shakes her head. "I'm not certain of that. She is mostly reclusive." Her attention swinging back to Vargus. "South America? What section of it? And how did you get past the Vampires?"

Cassius is suddenly surrounded by any number of people, looking around, "Woah..." he says, taking a step back and letting the others talk for now.

Vargus is standing near Cassius and Raina, the three just chatting in the front part of the store. He looks to Raina and smirks a little, "I.. huhh.. don't really know where in South America I was. There were some islands, but.." He shrugs a little. "Didn't see any vampires."

Desmond enters Draconic Secrets slowly, his eyes flicking about the environs in quick, explorative darts before he's taken two steps in. He seems about to move deeper in when his alert inspection picks up on the trio. His steps slow, then still entirely as he nears them and he dips his head slightly, eyes flicking between the three. "Greetings," he rumbles. as he has been the last week and more, he's geared for trouble. His brow creases then as he asks, "Vampires?" Having caught just a bit of the end of the talk, it seems.

Vargus starts, and turns quickly toward Desmond. "Eeeeeeegad, man. Don't do that.. ring a bell or something." He points to Raina, "I went through South America a few years ago, she was asking about Vampires.." he turns to Raina, "I didn't really see them, kinda skipped over them."

Cassius looks over at Desmond and he gives a faint little grunt, and remains in teh back...ya he'll just be quiet, vampires are no good

Raina chuckles softly at that. "Must have bene quite the skip. They are thick down that way. PRetty nasty territory."

Desmond blinks at Vargus when he reacts so to the suddenness of his presence. "Pardon me," he replies simply. His eyes flick towards Cassius and he gives the man a nod, though a perked ear towards Vargus betrays his listening. After, his head turns to a more general overview of the three and he considers briefly before he responds, "I see. I have heard of other places with many vampires. There was trouble in this city not too long ago with a small group of them. If any of you see any clue that they may have returned.. or others, I would ask to be alerted." A request made in all due seriousness.

Vargus considers Desmond for a moment and then nods. "Damn.. vampires way up here? Yeah, I'll keep an ear open." Then back to Raina. "I hopped a random rift into South America somewhere, still not really sure where.. and helped out some strange tree-hugging elves with a random possesion. The armor was payment. Then I wandered around a bit more down there. Eventually got bored and rifted back up here."

Raina snorts softly as she shakes her head. "RAndon rift-hopping can more often than not lead to much trouble. The ones I've been through for the most part were charted or targeted."

"I would assume that like many things one would escape. Discovering a place totally devoid of them is rare," Desmond opines stoically. Though as Raina speaks of the rifting, Desmond's expression turns thoughtful. "A curious thing to consider.. thinking so lightly of the use of these.. rifts. I have seen only two such things before. One disgorged robots. The other.. unexpected allies."

Vargus grins to both Raina and Desmond, "Charted? That takes all the fun out of it." He pauses a moment and shrugs at himself. "Although, I can examine a rift from this side, and zap myself home from anywhere.. so.." He quirks an eyebrow at Desmond, "Robots, huh? Do you remember where the rift was? And how long ago? And what allies came from the other?"

Raina tsks softly as she catches the expression on the other feline's face. "You forget it used to be my job to make certian the ships made it through the holes opened for us. Often times contracts were from other where's that we needed to get to."

Cassius has disconnected.

Desmond arches a brow slightly at Raina. "True, but we did not speak too deeply on such subjects before," he acknowledges. "Not that I would shy away from such a thing." Though he does not neglect Vargus' questions. "These things were some time ago. The robots came through amid a fair near to the gates. They were destroyed, but not without one loss." The loss mentioned almost casually. "The other is.. part of a lengthy tale. They were allied to a friend of mine, Kesslan. His people, who he did not think he would see again so soon. To speak on such a thing deeper would take much more time."

Vargus seems quite surprised. "By the gates? That's.... odd. Usually you need a ley line nexus for a rift to form. That tells me that it was probably generated, rather then random. And they might have known where they were going." He shivers ever-so-slightly, eyes flicking back and forth as some stuff runs through his head. After a bit he looks to Raina, "Whatever you did before sounds really damn interesting. Still have contact with them? Know if they hire rift navigators?"

Raina crosses her arms and shakes her head. "No, though there was talk of a D-ship if we tracked down those bots. That could probably get us back in contact with the group. IF they still exist. I know the ship I was on went up in a ball of plasma. Or so it looked from the sight of the pod I crawled out of."

Desmond nods his head once to Vargus' initial question, confirming what was heard. "Yes, it was not random," he rumbles. "Some of your trade have spoken of the feel of it as.. artificial just before one of them opens." He looks to Raina as she speaks, his brow furrowed slightly. Though before he speaks further, he glances about, as if to confirm that there is no one nearby to listen in. "You speak as if we might capture such a thing. As I have heard, we will not be facing equal numbers when the time comes to take the fight to them. We will be there for a single purpose. To cut their link to this world and escape."

You say, "And from what Desmond just said, it sounded like they just walked out of the rift, eh?" He looks to Desmond for confirmation, "All the rumors I've heard, nobody said anything about a big-ass ID ship. And what was that about a bunch of allies pouring out of one? That sounds interesting.""

Raina hmms and shakes her head. "I was gone for the arrival of the allies, I'd think. And all I know is that it was spoken of before I had to leave to search out my own missing friend."

"Because this is not meant for general knowledge," Desmond rumbles in reply to Vargus' words after the initial confirmation. his deep voice still lowered subtly. He glances between the two and states, "I speak of this to the both of you because I am reasonably certain that you are not ones to hide this from." He looks to Raina and notes, "I knew of you before this all came to be." His eyes shift to Vargus. "I can smell the magic on you. As far as I know, robots cannot have such things." That said, he speaks more generally. "There are robots in the city now. Those veiled in flesh. It is important to take care in who you speak to of matters such as this, otherwise they may discover what we know and what we don't."

Rath'tklan arrives from the street. Rath'tklan has arrived.

Vargus nods his head in agreement to Desmond. "I've heard bits and peices about it here and there." He watches Desmond for a moment, then looks to the door as it opens again. "...what the hell is that?"

Raina hmmmms softly as she inclines her head slightly to Desmond. Her tail flicking behind her and coiling around her left ankle occationally. "There are some cloaked in flesh now? I do hope thay are not hte same size as those that tried to dig through my armor last time."

Rath'tklan walks into the shop with his staff in his left hand, clicking it against the floor as he walks. Purposefully, the armored one wanders down one aisle in search of something. But before he finds it, Vargus' words reach his ears and he looks up and right at the gathered ensemble of people. The knicknack is forgotten and he approaches the group, Desmond foremost. "Brother Desmond." He says, in a heavy accent. "Many moons have passed since this one has seen you. This one regrets that his oppertunities to get to understand you further have been curtailed by recent events. I have been on work for the local government."

This day, Desmond, Raina and Vargus stand near to the front of Draconic Secrets, engaged in conversation. Up to this moment, Desmond's words have been more discreet, his rumbled words low pitched. "I know not, but take care in sharing words on this.." He pauses and glances towards Vargus at his exclamation, a brow lifted. Though the click of staff to the floor catches his attention, an ear flicking toward the source a moment before Desmond turns. The big cat is armored up and armed for conflict, a state he is not so often in. When Rath comes to speak to them, he dips his head once in reply to the words and replies, "It has been some time, Rath'tklan. But ever there is more of it to spend. I trust you are well."

Vargus's eyes flicks back and forth between Desmond and Rath'tklan and he relaxes, his right hand coming out from under his cape at the small of his back. He inclines his head to Rath'tklan, looking the other over, eyes lingering on the staff.

Raina's lips quirk slightly as she studies the unique armor sheathing Rath. Her head canting slightly as she tries to guage how durable it is.

Rath'tklan inclines his head to Desmond in a gesture of respect. "Ever more time when the crisis that envelopes this one's adopted home is seen through. It is an emergency most dire when an assassin; a denizen of the darkness barely dare walk the streets once the night has fallen." He looks at Raina, then Vargus. "Are these your friends, brother?" His armor is a hard sell. It is obviously not a mass market suit and could be anything from very heavy to brittle. But with the assassin's size, heavy is a good guess. Seeing where Vargus looks, he clicks the staff against the ground. "From what I understand to be the truth, Human, energy emissions technology is in infancy in this world. This is Korfa'vaga, my companion in all things. Upon the end, a barrelless projector such as you might find in a pistol. Poor range, and yet useful.. Upon the sides, magnetic containment fields to shape and direct emitted material. Behold." A button is thumbed and with a soft muted buzzing sound a scythe like blade shimmers into place and then is gone as the assassin clicks it again. "Unlike emissions technology that I have studied here, the fields are sufficient to allow defensive use of the blade. It is solid as you, or I." Rath'tklan speaks with just a little bit of pride in his voice.

Desmond dips his head once as Rath asks after the two with him. He motions towards Vargus. "He is Vargus, one who knows of the arts of magic." Then to Raina. "She is Raina.. I know not too much of her trade, but once she flew.. spaceships?" Glancing towards Raina for conformation on the matter. He pauses, watching the demonstration of the staff's ability with a note of interest. Studying the device in the wake of that, he wonders, "Are such weapons made in other forms? It seems a powerful weapon. Though perhaps great in expense." Thoughtful on the subject in tone and expression.

Vargus's eyebrows quirk up in response to the demonstration. "...ooo, nice." is his response. He nods at Desmond's question, adding on. "Short-range energy emitter and a close-combat weapon is a good combination. Tied to your armor's power source?" He stops, head tilting to the side. "It has a name as well. That's interesting."

Raina blinks at the demonstration herself. "Very unique." she states softly. "Such devices could add an advantage to something like a SAM or other powered armor in close combat."

Rath'tklan inclines his head to Vargus. "It is not so. The power source is independant and self regenerating. It need not be supplied with additional energy. I will not disclose the amount of power that it may store, but each use of the emitter as a ranged weapon requires an hour of recharge. The blade may be used indefenatly." Head inclines more. "Do you not name those things that are precious, and have meaning to you? Korfa'vaga is to me a symbol of what this one once was. Of a less complicated and more careless time. And no, brother. These staves are symbolic to a particular few and are not made in any other shape. To my knowledge, they are no longer made." The assassin's armored eyes are looking at Raina. "This one has not seen a female of similar species upon this world before, especially one pleasing to senses. Were it the season of children, this one would make every attempt at courtship. and mating behavior is most typically ignored by this one." The staff clicks on the ground again. "Before this one was distracted and felt the need to pay compliments, I was to say: Korfa'vaga, along with my armor and other such things are relics to this one. Special. Reminders of a life that was, on a world that spins far away."

Desmond arches a brow slightly at Rath's words for Raina, his eyes naturally shifting towards her to gauge her reaction. But there is only that casual curiosity in the moment. "Then you are fortunate to own such tools, for having no need to worry for return of energy spent is a compelling benefit," he rumbles thoughtfully. "One of the benefits of the blade is that it has no such limits. Though I have never thought to name even my favored weapons before." His eyes still casually shifted towards Raina as he speaks.

Vargus blinks once, suddonly realizing he's surrounded by many modes of feline. He turns to Rath'tklan, "I heard there was a large city of felinoids in South America somewhere. I never got close enough to figure out where it was exactly, I got the sense it was further south then I was.... from what I've seen, things are named when they have an identity. I have a familiar, a big eagle. Although he named himself. But, he's got a bit of an ego." He smirks. "I hope you don't have that problem with your staff."

Raina offers a small smile at the words of courtship. Then answers gently, "AS far as I know I am the only one of my race on this world. I have goten the feeling that they come from several dimentions and many worlds away, if they exist at all anymore. In the years I have spent here, there has only been rumor of one other that has reached me. And they were dead."

"There is one other of my kind in this place, and it has been entrusted to this one to watch over and sometimes guide him. It is not an easy task as in some ways, for some reason, that one has lost touch with who he is meant to be and what it is that one is meant to do. And so, this one finds himself confused at times. There are strange things that happen in this universe, though. Species intercompatability is a strange thing. It is not uncommon for felid races to be able to breed with each other, just as canids can, or the many human-like races that are in the skies." He rounds on Desmond quickly. "Then how is it that you understand its spirit properly, brother? Is it that you would draw blood with an edge that has not been named? That has not been awakened? It is said in ancient lore that an un-named edge will betray the one that holds it when he is least capable of seeing or defending against it. If it is what you wish, this one will show you what must be done." To Vargus: "I am sorry, this one is being ill mannered. My staff only has what ego this one does."

Desmond perks from his observant state when Rath prompts him, his brow furrowing in response to the question posed to him. "To be honest, I have never heard of such a thing before.. the spirit aspect. Some who do battle name favored weapons or vehicles, but it seems a more.. mundane thing amongst them." He considers a brief moment before he replies honestly, "Just as when I have spoken to Kesslan, of such things, I will tell you I have no such beliefs like your own. Though I would not mind learning more. If nothing else, it would do no harm to attribute a name to my favored weapon." He frowns faintly. "Speaking of Kesslan, there is much of him you know not, yes? Knowing his past path would likely aid in the task set before you. There is much he and I have discussed."

Vargus folds his arms across his chest, leaning forward a little unconsciously, his eyes sparkle as he looks between each person who speaks. He's obviously extremly interested in the topic. He looks from Desmond, back to Rath'tklan, "What about a blade made of energy, but not like that from your staff. An energy blade formed from nothing, though magic? Would it need a name, or risk failure? And if I may ask, where are you and... Kesslan from?"

Raina folds her arms again, lightly resting them under what small bit if curves she has. Her tail twitching where it has curled around one of her ankles as she listens as well. She's really had little to do with Kesslan as well.... He makes her fur fall out.

Rath'tklan hopefully will not cause Raina permenant baldness either. His armor's shoulders move to a shrug. "It would do no harm. There is much I do not know . . . and what bothers this one more than anthing else is that that one does not know such things about our kind. If I were to suggest to him that he name his belongings, this one would get a confused look. But that is to be fixed with time. Brother Kesslan still requires adjustment, for he does not know which place he belongs; there or here. In truth, the answer may be some of both." To Vargus, his answer is quick and simple. "A blade is a blade."

Desmond considers quietly for a few moments before he opines, "Such a thing is his to decide, despite what another might think." His voice slipping into a more straight, stoic timbre. "I think I will let him tell you of what has led him to this moment. Better, perhaps, that you hear it as he would say it rather than my own view of what he has told me." His tone lightens just slightly as he shifts topics and finishes with, "I have not much more time to spend in the now, but in the future I would be pleased to know better the ways you adhere to." All said to Rath, of course.

Rath'tklan also says to Vargus: "I would rather wait than speak of our home, as it is a complicated matter that he may wish to keep to himself."

Vargus pauses, giving Rath'tklan an odd look, but nods his head. "Alrighty." Considering his next question, he asks of the armored form, "I could see your staff deserving of a name, because it exists." He points. "It's right there.. but, a lightblade doesn't exist until I call it forth. Is it the same blade each time I cast the spell? Do I need to give it a different name each time...? This is rather fascinating."

Raina just stays quiet as this has swept off towards the realms of fatasy for her. Of course much of what she's seen in her life would be seen as such too.

Rath'tklan answers Vargus immediatly. "This one does not know, Human. But were such a weapon gifted to this one it would be my belief that the same blade is brought forth with each summons and I would choose to find a name for it with that belief." His head turns towards Desmond. "Brother, I was confused. If it is the story of why he left our home, and what he was sent to do and why and for whom, it is known to me, as it is known to many of our people. It is what has happened after he left that this one needs to learn yet." He lifts his staff up to lay it on his shoulder. "However, the hour grows late and it is time to work. I should like to meet all of you again. If you are further curious human, you may ask your questions then."

Desmond frowns faintly as he considers Rath's words, though it is the frown one would hold when settled into thought. "Then perhaps I am not so certain on your confusion. Indeed, I would be curious to know just what you seek to know.. and what Kesslan would say on such things." He dips his head to the armored male. "In the now, farewell. I would say to take care, but I anticipate such is a given." He pauses, then looks to Vargus and Raina briefly before he glances about the store. "I should away as well. Another time I can consider the strange wares here."

Vargus's eyebrows perk up and he nods to Rath'tklan, "Oh yes... I would, indeed. Before I discovered my Talent, I studied as an archeologist. Didn't get much into anthropology, but, I do find aspects of foreign cultures to be very interesting." Lost in thought again, he snaps back and lets out a slow sigh. "I guess I should wander on as well. As early as it is, I haven't seen Steelwind in a few hours. Last time, he was wondering around the junkyard. He stuffs an arm behind him into the small bag at his back, and the strange glob of melted wax again flows over him to form the chitinous armor.

Raina hmms softly as she watches the armor reform around the archeologist. Then shudders. "That just looks wrong. I think I'd rather just close the armor around me than something like that."

Rath'tklan inclines his head to all present. "So it shall be. Within reason, I will tell you all that I am able. And fear not, Brother Desmond, care is taken in all things. And you as well." He indcates Raina with his head, and then the assassin steps out and rises straight up into the air and dissapears. No engine sound. Just lifts into the darkness.

Desmond nods once to Vargus, casually watching the armor emerge and form briefly before he turns his head towards Rath. Only briefly watching his own departure. Not long enough to see the lift into the sky. Instead, he looks back to the two before him. "The same thought I extend to you. Take care. And remember my request. Should you see any sign of vampires, I would request to know. Farewell to you both." He too will then turn to take his own leave afterward, a more mundane stride carrying him into the city proper.

Desmond heads out. Desmond has left.

Vargus's helmet tilts toward Raina. "It's pretty strange, but.. nothing compared to actually having it made. They stand around you and chant in some strange ritual, and all these bugs come out of the jungle and crawl all over you. Takes like twenty minutes but they secrete a resin, created by the ritual, and when it hardens the armor is formed. I heard not many outsiders can handle it, they freak out and run.. ruining the ritual."

Raina makes a face at that. "I do not think that many could take bugs crawling all over them for that long. It would tickle or just creak most out. You must have some considerable resolve."

Vargus's head nods a bit. "Yeah, that's what I've been told. There's another suit, it's made of wood.. you like, step up to or inside of a tree and it grows out over you. Not as bad as the bugs, but, this one can take more damage." He brings his hand up and gives Raina a little salute. "See you later..." He turns and makes his way outside, then heads north after he exits the shop. Tags: cassius, desmond, raina, rath'tklan, vargus
