Here at Rifts: Chronicles of Kingsdale, we like to walk a careful line between respect for the privacy of our players and due diligence from the staff in the policing of improper or game harming activity amongst our players. As such, the following guidelines are followed by the staff in regards to the privacy of our players.

  1. Any RP that takes place in a location that is private (mostly involving scenes in rooms marked as private residences for a PC or is ICly restricted by players like private offices) is considered private. Staff must ask before coming to observe any RP in said locations and honor any denials. Any and all RP in other areas of the IC grid or OOC talk in OOC areas can be observed by the staff at any time without asking or announcement.
    1. Exception: If the staff have valid reason to believe that activities of an illegal or game harming nature are taking place 'behind closed doors' they reserve the right to observe ongoing interaction for proper due diligence.
  2. Any RL information demanded by staff upon character generation or at any point thereafter will be for discreet use by the staff only. This primarily involves the email address asked for, but includes name and age and any other information determined to be of need. None of this information will ever be provided to other players or entities outside of the game.
  3. All logged RP that is sent in must be under the approval of all parties involved in said RP. If you see a log up on our log LJ that you don't wish to be publicly viewable, contact the staff for it to be made dark and unable to be viewed. Any log you wish posted for XP, but not publicly visible should be openly marked as such. The staff will still read and categorize it, but it won't be visible beyond our log staff.
  4. Our players will respect the rights of other players to privacy and discretion on this game. If you discover or already know RL info about another player or discover which alts are theirs, despite there being no public airing of this information, you should keep this information discreet unless given permission to speak of such things by the player or if a staff member requests such information.
    1. If at any time you believe a staff member is requesting information improperly or you are uncertain, you may deny the request, but must at once contact the head admit (Tiamat) with an explanation of the situation and why the request was denied.
    2. Punishment: Anyone caught violating the privacy of a fellow player will receive punishment to fit the severity of the crime. This is to be determined based on the act and past history of the offending player.

If you are in doubt or confused by any of this policy or have questions/comments/suggestions, @Mail a staff member in game.
