The current game time is: Mon Aug 31 02:45:14 105 PA.

Wandering at a lazy walk through the park is Etienne, occasionally taking a puff from the cigarette he holds in his right hand. His left hand remains in the left pocket of his jacket. He glances up in the direction of the sun as he's walking, gauging the time that way. And keeps walking. His steps take him toward the Pavillion. The time, judging from the sunlight above, appears to be early afternoon, and there's a little bit of a breeze. Just enough to keep it cool, maybe a bit cold.

Desmond just happens to be at the pavilion as Eti approaches. Sitting on top of the structure, in fact, carefully perched with his feet planted and braced to keep him comfortably settled on the slanting roof. With one raised knee used to brace his sketchpad, the big male is gazing out over the park itself, off towards the back half of it, working his pencil with a quiet, focused intensity when not taking in the landscape.

Etienne doesn't actually look up at the roof of the pavillion until he's nearly to it. And then he blinks when he sees Desmond. Desmond... drawing? Etienne shakes his head and continues a little way past the pavillion, within easy speaking distance, really. There, he settles on one of the benches to look out over toward the pond.

Yes, drawing. And with a sense of confidence in how he goes about it. As Eti goes to his bench, Desmond continues to do his thing, wrapped up in it fully. Though it seems whatever he's been rendering, it was nearly done as perhaps five minutes after the man passes, he ceases looking up, eyeballing his work with careful consideration. His judgment of it not put on display as after this, he simply closes the sketchpad and slips it into his jacket. A moment later he's slipping carefully down to the edge of the roof, dropping to the ground, a low crouch softening his landing. It will be then that he looks up and noticed Eti. He pauses for a moment in his crouch, then rises slowly and rumbles, "Etienne."

Not something Etienne would ever have figured Desmond for. It's interesting. Etienne finishes his cigarette in due course, and pulls out a small knife, and a small piece of wood, from his right pocket. And starts to whittle on it. From all appearances, the head and shoulders of a wolf are beginning to appear from the small piece of wood. At the sound of the rumbled voice, Etienne looks up, and sees Desmond down from the roof. He offers a nod, "Desmond. How be ye?" he asks.

Desmond approaches with slow, casual steps as he replies. "I am quite well. More so than I had thought previous, truth be told. It is a curious thing when you walk a path and once prompted to look back on what has been trod, you see more than you had expected, is it it not?" The words given a thoughtful lean, the big male pausing at a respectful, but familiar distance, his eyes lowered to the human, but a bit vague amid his internal musings. Etienne has looked back down to his carving by the time the big cat approaches, and speaks. He looks up again when the other says 'more than he thought'. "More than ye though', eh? Somethin' up atween ye 'n yer lady?" His tone is casual with a hint of curiousity, and his eyes go back to the little piece of wood he's whittling.

Desmond shakes his head slightly. "No.. well, there is something that has occurred, but it is not a trouble between she and I. Her brother has come to Kingsdale and they do fight, but lack no love for each other. It is not trouble I consider, but the sum total of the changes I have known here. To how I live, to what I have. I had naught but what I carried when I first came here. To pause and see now what I have gathered.. it is not something I had planned or expected."

"Ah, fightin' between siblin's is a normal state o' affairs, me friend," says Etienne as he finishes up on the bit of carving for now and puts both the piece of wood and the little knife back in his pocket. "I know wha' ye mean there. I had nothin' bu' th' clothes on me back 'n wha' me horse could carry when I go' here. Couple months after tha', no' even th' horse." Etienne shakes his head and rises from the bench. "Ah well, nothin' ta do fer i' bu' ta keep goin', eh? Ye have a good day, Desmond." He pulls that little case for his cigarettes out of a pocket, and takes one of the cigarettes from it. He sticks the cigarette into his mouth as he puts the case back where he got it, and takes out a lighter. Lifting the lighter to his mouth, he flicks it, bringing a flame to one end. Soon, the cigarette is lit, and he puts the lighter back into his pocket. He offers a nod to Desmond then, before wandering back the way he'd come.

Desmond nods his head thoughtfully at Eti's words. "That is what is to be done. Continue forth, for the path before us is never done and we can ever climb higher. So too may it be for you, friend," he offers, seeming to take such words quiet seriously. "Be well, until we meet again," he offers then, head dipped. He lingers only briefly, but once Eti is on his way, the big cat turns and starts to wander off himself, heading deeper into the park. Location:Kingsdale - The Park Tags:desmond, etienne
