Kingsdale - Yakov's Deli
Rasputin's Deli is a lively place, normally a short man is behind the counter serving up orders of beef, brisket, chicken, pork, sausage, fish and just about every other type of meat product you can imagine. Rasputin's is a well known secret to low, medium and high class people of all type. Rasputin has all sorts of customer's coming and going at all times of day or night. He isn't open 24-hrs, but he might as well be. As you walk into the Deli, next to the door is a small lunch counter which faces out into the street. Opposite to the deli counter are four small booths. Both of these locations serve as eating space for those that choose to grab a quick bite of food or one of Yakov's and Rasputin's famous five meat monster deli sandwiches. Most people don't use these booths, but the lunch counter is constantly being used, as it provides a great people watching vantage.
Players Sage Rasputin
For an odd reason, today the pre-lunch crowd is very quiet and not super active. It is slow at Yakov's deli, though that has not altered Rasputin's mood
at all. He is singing up a storm, of course. His deep Russian voice bellowing out through the shop.
Using her body to open the door, Sage carefully enters the deli with her arms holding a sturdy basket. She hums softly until she hears the bellowing Russian voice. A faint curl of amusement takes her lips as she takes a moment to consider the deli itself. The quiet, uncrowded aspect suits her just find as she wont have to jostle through the crowd. She makes her way towards the counter before setting the basket down on the counter.
Rasputin finishes platting what looks like a grilled trout sandwich, and he turns around to hand it to a waitress who wisks it away to deliver it. Rasputin's eyes fall upon Sage, and her bundle of fresh vegi goodness. He grins and bellows out the last slightly in tune, mostly out of tune phrase of his song and then comes over and says, "Dobryj den' Sage. What goodink thinks have you brought me today?"
That she doesn't have to shout over the man's own singing to get his attention brings a slight smile to Sage's lips. "Hey Rasputin." She replies before directing her attention to the large basket. "We have some potatoes on the bottom. Two kinds of tomatoes." She takes out a large apple-like tomato then a cherry tomato for visual aids. "And, if you want some, there's beans and snow peas." She holds up a long, slender green bean. "I wasn't sure if you'd want the sort that can be podded as they can scatter pretty good if you accidently spill them."
Rasputin looks over the veggies, his eyes very wide with delight. He grins and tugs his beard as begins put each in their own small bin, "Net, net. Dese are all lookink dery goodink." You can tell he is excited, "Beeink hardink to find fresh veggies dhese days with so many refugees, da."
Nudging the basket a little closer to the man, Sage watches the reaction to the contents. Her lips curling further into a smile. "Yes, I help where I can... but I can't ignore the customer who spawn the idea of having the garden in the first place." She replies, "I will likely need the basket back when you get the chance, though." She pauses briefly, "I heard you're looking to learn new things as well... any particular reason you want to know how to work leather?"
Rasputin empties your basket, and with a few waves of his hand, your basket, the veggies, and everything else including you and him are all nice and clean, "Da, da. Shouldink be good now, da?" He smile as he slides your basket back to you. He motions to a few of the assistants to take the fresh veggies and begin to prepare them for the coming few days. He smiles and then looks to you again, "Da, da. You were seeink my ad?" He grins and tugs his beard, "I am always goink out huntinks, da? And beink brought different games. So I am thinkink to self dat I should be savink da leathers, da? Or elsink it would be goink to wastink." He smiles, "Soses, I am lookink for someones to be trainkink me. Makink sense?"
Not really expecting to get cleaned in the process of the man's off-loading, Sage gives a quiet little chuckle of surprise when she realizes the disappearance of some of the grime she'd picked up. When the basket is offered back, she pulls it light back toward her before murmuring a 'thank you'. Then nods faintly to the comment about the ad, before waiting for the man to continue. "Ah... I suppose the better question would be whether you just want to preserve those hides and leather... or if you're intending to make purses out of them." She says with a teasing tone on the last part.
Rasputin strokes his beard then tugs on it a little bit as he ponders this thought, "Definately preservink. I am knowink how to be doink that alreadies. But net knowink how to turn leathers into, uh, da" Rasputin pauses a moment his eyebrows squinch up, "Uh, perhaps a nicink coat, and perhapsink some armors, if I am getting good qualities dino hides. Da?" He smiles, "Are you knowink someones who could be teachinks such dhinks?"
When the man pauses to consider what sort of thing he would make, Sage can't help but get amused expression as she tries to imagine Rasputin toiling away at making purses. "Ah... that could be a little daunting to the beginner, even when you know what you should be doing." She comments, "I should know, I've done that sort of thing for a while now. Perhaps I should see about acquiring some hides off of you at some point."
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. I am net havink skins rights now, buttink I would be willink to be tradink you somes for trainink in how to be makink?" He smiles a bit, "Would dhat be agreeable to yous?"
Sage purses her lips as she considers the man and the offer. "I think we can come to an arrangement." She replies after a brief pause before smilingly. "Now then, I imagine we'll need to choose a few different things to work on as different items will require a different sort of preparation. Otherwise, you'll only know how to make one thing, after all."
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. I agrees. I would be likink to learn how to be makink all sorts of leathers items. Da? Would dhat be goodink?" He thinks a moment and tugs his beard, "Would you be needink me to be buyink materials? So we could be workink on it?"
Taking a moment to consider things, Sage purses her lips once more. "I do hope you know how to sew as well." She comments, before tilting her head as she considers what they'll need. "We'll need something to work on yes... we can always split the cost if need be." She comments, "I suspect we shall need some fur, hide and leather... I think I have enough sewing supplies... and, I hope between the two of us that we have the other tools of the trade as well."
Rasputin frowns a little bit, "Net, I am only knowink preparing of hides. Buttink I can use needle and thread, just net well dhough." He grins, "I am faster learner, honests. Da." He grins and tugs his beard a bit, "When would you be likink to starts? And where would be likink to be doink da lessons? I am havink a room down stairs, buttink if you prefere else where, dhen dhat is good too. Da?" He gets an excited look, "I am lookink forwards to this, da. I've been wantink to be doink dhis for a whiles. Spasibo for beink thinkink of me. Da."
"I guess that means if we start our own business of making our own wilderness clothing line, I'll be in charge of the finishing touches." Sage muses, before chuckling softly. When she settles once more, she hms softly. "I suppose it depends on how quickly we're able to get things together... roughly a week - if not sooner?" She asks with a slightly raised before before she considers the location. "If you have a large enough work area downstairs, that should likely work. And, if you don't mind any potential smells from the preparation phase."
Rasputin chuckles, "Mink good cooking and warm smells prevent any foul odors from comink up stairs. And, goodink venalation system helpink, da?" He chuckles, "Dhat is goodink, I would likink to get started da." He thinks a moment, "And, if we are to startink buisness, I would be likink do hard work, and you do delicate. I will providink skins, da?" He chuckles a bit, "You can be makink purses doo." He chuckles a bit.
"I was more worried about whether you lived downstairs than your customer's smelling anything." Sage comments with an amused tone, "But, you are forewarned to make sure your ventilation is in good working order." She offers a quick wink, before chuckling herself at the mention of making purses. "Probably for the best." She replies with a faint chuckle still in her tone. Then nodding, "Yes, I imagine that's how it'd have to work..." She comments, "So... you arrange the skins and I make sure we have the tools? Split any extra costs to make sure we're even? And, we let each other know when everything's ready for training?"
Rasputin nods slowly, "Da, da. Dhis would be goodink arrangements, da." He smiles, "So you would be like to be startink, in a week? Da?" He thinks to himself, and nods, "How many pelts should I be gettink?"
Nodding faintly to the man's agree, Sage offers a slight smile. "If possible." She replies to the question, "If not, we can schedule once we have everything." She offers a faint shrug, then pauses to consider the next question. "Depends on how wide a margin of error you want." She muses softly before resisting the urge to chuckle. "At least one large one, and at least a couple small ones should be a good start... and we should need much fur since the real work will be on the hide or leather."
Rasputin nods and pulls out a small flip-pad and writes this all down, "I'll makink sure to get a few of each, da." He smiles, "Just in casink, da?" He makes a few extra notes, "I'll makink sure to keep da basement nice and clean so we have plenties of space." He grins a bit, "Da. I can be readies for next week, da?" He smiles a bit.
Sage nodding faintly, "That should work fine." She replies before chuckling faintly at the 'just in case' part. "Yes." Then she pauses, "We will need a place for the hides and leathers to sit during the preparation stage. Sometimes people will wrap them up and bury them in the ground since that's the truly smelly part." She comments, "But, we can figure that out, I'm sure." She pulls the basket from the counter to hold onto. "And, I guess I'll be seeing you in the near future..." She comments before pausing, "So, I guess we can work on a hat of some sort, a carrying pouch or bag - but not a purse..." She tries to give a mock look of disappointment, but she's far too amused by the prospect to make it work, "And either a coat, cape or perhaps a light leather armor... or some combination thereof.."
Rasputin grins, "Da, da." Rasputin definately is excited, "Da, da. Soundink goods, da." He thinks a bit, "Mink preparink hides downstairs befores, net smells up heres. But we can be doink large scales outsides, da?" He smiles, "I am lookink forwards too dhis. So next week, da?" He grins, "Perhapsink change purse."
Rasputin goes about his work and Sage leaves.
