Kingsdale - Enclosed Garden(#2526RM)
This plot of land is of a fair size, longer than what it is wide. At one of the ends there stands a sturdy structure which is the greenhouse for the farm. There is where a great many of the seedlings which end up in the ground itself are started. The walls of the greenhouse are of clear plastic, kept clean to allow the most sunlight possible to the tender plants within. There are many beds of tilled earth here as well, with ditches running through at intervals to make it easier for foot passage for the purpose of either harvest or tending to the plants themselves. Behind the greenhouse is a compost pile and there is a small locked shed which houses the tools for the farm's use. A tall fence encloses the property, with a gate near to the greenhouse and a second gate on the opposite side.
Players- Objects- Exits- Tirzah <O> Out Nemain
The current game time is: Sun Aug 27 18:41:02 107 PA.
It is a pleasant day if a little on the hot side as Sage finds herself in her garden considering the crops that are moving towards harvest-time. She wears somewhat dirty, rugged clothes better suited to gardening as she moves about the rows looking for where she wishes to start.
The door to the garden opens to signal someones arrival. Sage will porbably recognize Tirzah's footsteps as the redhead walks the aisles. She takes an indirect route past the berry bushes as per usual, helping herself to a handful.
Nemain isn't quite brave enough to follow Tirzah into the garden. She may even know both of the other women quite well, but she leans on the fence instead basking in the simple pleasures of the garden's scents and the warmth of hte day.
With the arrival of another person, Sage pauses to look over towards the sound of footsteps. A mock scowl is given as she notices her partner's plunder of the berry bushes. "I see the thief has arrived." She comments with a teasing tone before she begins to make her way over towards her partner. The glimpse of another figure distracts her gaze away from her partner to notice the other woman leaning on the fence. "Hey..." She calls over to Nemain as she changes course away from her partner. "Have you come as a friend or potential customer?" She asks, with a small bit of irony in her tone at the last bit of her question.
"Thief? I like to think of it as quality control." Tirzah retorts with a smirk and wink as she makes it to Sage's isle. "Gotta make sure its good enough to make wine out of this fall after all." She notes, dropping her intentions openly before sliping the last few berries into her mouth.
Nemain quirks one snowy brow upwards at that question. "As a friend or a potential customer? Mmmm.... I think that I could be talked into helping either way." A grin flashing as she nudges the gate open and steps inside. "Though I'm uncertain what you sell here."
Pausing where she stands, Sage is quiet for a moment as she looks between the two other woman as they both come into her privately owned land. Fortunately it is off the beaten path, but not far enough that you can't hear the commotion of the area. A smile comes to her lips before she chuckles to herself. "In a way, it is what you see is what you get... but, I know you are more used to tinkering with improving technology than recognizing plants." She comments in a mildly amused way to Nemain, "I'm sure I could put you to work, though." She adds teasingly before turning to walk the last steps towards her partner and embraces Tirzah. "Quality control, hm?" She asks, "Is it good enough for us to have a little brewing contest then?"
Tirzah welcomes the embrace fully. "Unmatched my love. Who else is in the running though?" She asks, curious now as she turns to look to Nemain and wave her in. "Dont be shy, these ones dont bite." She jokes, Having nevel met snappy she expects Nemain will believe her.
Nemain chuckles herself softly as she is ohh so careful not to step off the bared dirt between the rows. "Ohh, you're right for the most part. I do however know what a carrot looks like and an egg plant." She peers around and hmms, "Though I don't see any of the later. But I had to get away from the shop. It's bene days since I last saw light not focused on where I was soldering together wires."
Another arrives, not long after Nemain, from the landing field and wilderness beyond. The sight of intentional green is less common within the walls, and curiosity draws Daeni. She remains outside of the plastic walls for several moments, but leans near to peer inside prior to locating the entrance and stepping within.
A squeeze is given to her partner before Sage decides to pull back from the embrace. "Or we could just work together..." She replies to Tirzah with a faint shrug and a small smile before looking over to Nemain. "Probably not." She agrees with a glance around the garden, "Doesn't seem like there's much demand for eggplant." She comments, before glancing back towards Nemain. "Well, you're welcome to spend a little time here... but if you decide to help out here, I'll forewarn you that it will be a dirty job." She comments, "I have tools and gloves in the shed, though." She adds, before pausing at the noise of the gate opening once more. "Daeni?" She asks, surprised to find another visitor come to her little garden.
"I could certainly give you a hand love. Not like my other job is time consuming after all. And maybe that will be one way to return the favor of the money lending you proposed hmm?" Tirzah replies to Sage before taking a moment to look over Daeni for a second time. "Hello again."
Nemain grins impishly to the pair, then glances over her shoulder to Daeni. "Greetings to you." she offers with a grin. Then steps out of the way, "Looks like it's harvest day. And a girl not living until she's had to scrub some dirt from under her nails." Yeah as if having ones hands to the elbow in the bowels of some of the armor and machines she deals with has kept her hands clean.
"Yes." Daeni answers Sage, first, and follows this with a "Hello" to the somewhat familiar Tirzah and the unknown other woman. Her focus returns to Sage. "Is your garden? Is much one farmer." She moves further inside and glances over the plants that grow within.
"Perhaps." Sage comments thoughtfully, before she looks over to Nemain with a small smile and gives a nod to the comment. Then, she looks over to Daeni, trying not to let herself look too amused at the 'yes' answer. She smiles a little more at the question, "Yeah, its mine." She replies with a hint of pride in her tone. "And, I've had help at times." She adds before pusing her lips. "You are welcome to help, if you wish." She comments before looking back to her garden. There plants are fairly standard for the most part including tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, beans, and there are some plants by request like the berry plants. Not to mention whatever is within the greenhouse.
Tirzah smirks, shifting to remain in the background as Sage engages a potential customer. Certainly not a common shift for Tirzah, but she recognizes the need.
Nemain isn't certain she falls into the customer area of being as she knows two out of the three others present. Though Tirzah could be considered a customer of her's as well as her neighbor. Her lips quirking slightly as she lifts a hand to shove back a drift of snow shaded hair from her face moments after the wind drops it there. She instead turns her attention towards the plants persent as if trying to tell which is which. Beans are fairly obvious, but is that really what a potatoe plant looks like?
Daeni is mildly surprised at the invitation to help. "Help harvest? Am hunter, not farmer." It may be that her thumbs are no more green than her American is fluent. "Can try. Trade for part of harvest?" She steps to a row of what could be potatoes (Daeni is no better at identifying the crop when it is not obvious) and crouches to prod fingers into the soil around a plant.
Her attention directed away from Tirzah, Sage likely doesn't pay much mind to her partner letting her take center stage. She chuckles softly at Daeni's first question and comment. "I don't really need farmers so much as gatherers." She assures before considering the question. "I'm sure we can work out something for you. Whether it be as simple as a preparing a meal for you or part of the harvest for your labours." She pauses as the woman begins to prod the ground near one of the plants. She steps over to rest a hand lightly on Daeni's shoulder. "It would be easier to use a digging implement for this type of plant... otherwise, it could take quite a while to finish one plant's bounty." She comments softly, before she looks between the others. "So, who wants to get a little dirty... and, what favour would you wish in return?"
Tirzah smirks as the two girls make their way to the potatoes. "They certainly know how to pick em." She jest, using the pun liberally as she takes up a gather bascket and moves the the fences of peas and beans.
"Not pull ...out?" Daeni's simple question is interrupted by the hand upon her shoulder. Despite her awareness of Sage's approach, her body jerks reflexively before Daeni quells it to only a shift of her weight and partial turn towards Sage. The hand that formerly prodded at the dirt is uncurled from the fist it became and graps the protruding plant to pull sharply upwards. She subsequently answers her own inquiry when the tubers remain and the rest simply snaps off at the base.
Nemain slips over to help Tirzah, offering her a half-hug as she nears the other woman. "How're the projects that I did for you working?" A grin showing as she glances back over her shoulder towards the other two at the potatoes.
Hoping that her approach, touch and advise would be enough, Sage simply shakes her head slightly to the question. To her wry surprise, she can but watch as the other woman rips just the plant out of the ground. She lets a sigh escape her before she can surpress it. "No... not pull out." She confirms, before she takes a breath. "Well, I guess we start on this row. It seems we shall have to hunt down the potatoes below." She says, trying to make the best of the situation. "I will be back with what we need..." She pauses, "and please wait for my return before we continue." She adds before walking towards the shed to claim the implements needed.
Tirzah says, "The work perfectly dear. I'm ever so grateful. I just take a bit of scrap, put the armor on, give it a charge and in fine minutes the armor is that much fixed. Draws a lot of power, but I've hired another mage to help with that so we keep up with demand. No complaints at all." Tirzah confirms as she gently pulls the pods from the vine to put them into the basket. "How are things working for you? Any luck finding a gem supplier?""
Daeni knows that the stalk cannot simply be reattached, although that fact does not keep her from attempting it, once, after Sage turns to walk away. The greenery is subsequently dropped to the side, near their original location, and Daeni waits. She does not wait motionlessly, howver, as she stands upright and shifts her weight from one foot to the other.
Nemain makes a face at the mention of a gem supplier. "I think I'll need to go out an explore some of the ruins to see what can be located. Most of the suppliers are ripping the prices higher every year." She moves to the next bean plant and starts following Tirzah's lead in harvesting. "You needed a second mage to keep up with your demands? Are you running a murderball team now?"
It doesn't take Sage long to find a shovel and a short-handled pitchfork with strong tines. She carries them in one hand, and a large sturdy basket with work gloves tossed inside in the other. She purses her lips as she considers the task at hand. "Potato harvesting may be a little boring..." She comments as she noticed some feet shuffling as she returned. "...there are other things that are more straight-forward, even if they require a delicate touch." She comments, before setting down the implements in her hands. She bends down to claim a pair of work gloves from the basket. "Harvesting potatoes can be a little tricky without damaging the potatoes if you're not used to it." She adds, before taking up the pitchfork and moving over to the ripped out plant area. She lines up the pitchfork before driving the tines into the ground. "Just let me know what you'd like to do."
Tirzah giggles and shakes her head. "No but we are offering the cheapist repair service in town if you dont mind waiting a week or two to get it fixed. Actually I could employ more mages, but haven't the room in my apartment." Tirzah explains with a smirk to Nemain. "In that light I think my next job with you will be a battery pack I can take to the line out side the border and charge."
"Can do this," Daeni notes, crouching again, this time to observe Sage and her harvesting techniques. "Watch first." It seems more simple to her to simply pull or scoop the potatoes from the earth, but there remains the concern of keeping them intact.
Nemain hmms softly at that. "That could be done, yes. It would depend on how much of a charge you want to carry back." She shifts a handfull of beans over to Tirzah's basket. "I have been pondering such for the shop as well. Maybe even just leaving a transformer out in the line and running cable back to the shop as well."
With the comment by the other woman, Sage gives a nod as she's content to let the other woman watch and decide. Once the pitchfork is sufficiently buried into the soil, she bends her knees and pulls the handle back towards her to break the soil. As if often the case with the first couple digging attempts, this is likely only going to uncover some potatoes within the hill itself that can be picked out. She places the soil directly behind where she's digging to avoid interfering with the other rows or obscuring her dig site.
"Well if it can hold as much as I do, and I draw as well when filling it that would triple my pool and make Arcane Solutions much more efficient. Cant draw from the lines in town though, the guards are paranoid about that. There's a spot just past the border that I use, a few miles down from where Jelani's goes for shifting." Tirzah explains casually as she fills the bean basket. "Of course a shop right on the line would probably work too. But those are really pricy."
Nemain chuckles softly, "I had thought of dropping a collector on top of one of the buildings on the lines and running a line back to where it's needed."
Daeni tips her head as she observes the effort and results. Subsequently rising enough to easily take a step, she moves to the next plant. Her attempt to aid is now a little more educated as well as proof that Daeni has no qualms of getting her hands dirty. She presses fingers into the dirt on either side of the visible portion until her hands are buried pasts her wrists. A look of concentration and movement of her arms follow as she feels for the tubers in the dirt. It is then a matter of pulling upwards with splayed fingers in imitation of Sage's act, simply without the tined tool. "Is right?" Daeni looks to Sage for confirmation of her improvised method as she sets aside those potatoes she managed to extract.
The thought of giving the pitchfork to Daeni likely inspires imagines of skewered potatoes to Sage's mind after the ripping of the first plan. She contents herself with scooping out the potatoes she uncovered and placing them into the basket she brought out. When she glances to see what Daeni is up to, she can only see the hands buried into the soil. She opens her mouth, ready to exclaim. Yet, something in the woman's motions makes her hold back as she comes over to the other plant. She may well be in a fine temper in a moment. She raises a brow as the other woman asks the question and she bends down to consider the potatoes extracted. She picks one up to consider the state of the vegetable, before she glances over to Daeni. Relief comes to her expression. "I'm tempted to hug you right now..." She says with a chuckle, "Yes, that'll work fine... I can handle it if they get a little scuffed... but, you may find some harder to find than others." She comments before rising to take the new potatoes to the basket.
Tirzah nods, having almost filled her basket. "Well such a place might yet be within my reach. Seems some investors have come out of the woodwork. Just have to find and agreeable way to get thier support and not get them taking the business in a direction I dont like." Tirzah explains with a calm smile. "One i'm quite sure wont do that, the other, not so sure."
Nemain hmms softly as she continues picking beans. She glances over her shoulder towards the other two and the potatoes not going to famine. A grin flashing before she pops a bean betwixt her lips for a nibble. "I'm still trying to gather together the starting capital for my own shop, less the having to give a split to someone else who overcharges me to start with."
"Is not hard. Not need hug." Daeni's lips begin to curl upwards, but a full grin is not quite reached. Her hands are more easily controlled than a tool, and bear the benefit of her sense of touch. This should minimize the number of skewered crop as she moves to handle the remaining plants in the row.
"In that case, I may just make you my official potato harvester." Sage comments, "If you'd be willing to work with me in the future." She adds, before brings the basket to set near Daeni now that there seems to be a potentially better way of harvesting potatoes than she had expected starting the day. She'll continue to help with the harvest and point out areas that will be saved for later.
