From Chronicles
The current game time is: Fri Apr 28 10:36:42 107 PA.
Galvin is sitting at the bar with a cold beer in one hand. He is tapping on the giant robotic leg that makes up the bar with his other hand as he listens to the music that is playing. For once the music is a little lower key then the usual and just some pop music with unusual instruments. He has out his handheld computer and is watching some scrolling text on the screen.
Jack makes his way to the par and ... orders a beer. What else, right? "Hey there mate" he says while waiting for the order to be filled, taking coin out at the same time to pay for it. "How's it going?" he asks, setting the money down a few moments before he receives the beer mug.
Galvin turns from his computer to take notice of Jack greeting him. He grins wide as he raises his beer up and gestures to Jack with it. "Hey Jack, I'm great man. How is it going? You finally find some time off to grab a drink at a proper bar?" He says with a laugh before taking a sip of his beer. "Now just need to find you a girl." He finishes with a wide grin.
"It's alright" Jack replies with a nod, "Yeah, something like that, the beers taste different depending on where you go ey?" he chuckles and hms, "Nah, why can't she like ... find me? Right? Alright, alright, I'm probably asking for too much now."
"Sure a beer always tastes better with company, music, and women to look at." Galvin says with a chuckle and a nod. "I thought you knew that Jack." He says while putting away his handheld computer. "Well maybe she just doesn't have anything to send via air. You might have to actually look yourself."
"I think you under-estimate me, Sir" Jack winks, and takes a sip from the beer. "Whatcha workin' on?" he asks, cocming his head to the side slightly, and taking another sip. "This guy Ash, and Bailey dropped in the other day, talkin' about the dregs and stuff."
Galvin nods his head slightly as he pats the pocket that has the computer in it. "I do not under estimate you. I under estimate a good girl finding you on her own." He takes a quick sip of his beer before continuing. "Yah Bailey gave me a rifle she wanted repaired and worked on. I also have armor from both of them that I have been fixing. Stuff should be do soon."
"Ooh, alright, that's a polite way to put it I guess" Jack nods, "Yeah, she mentioned missing it when she was shot or something ... I didn't listen too closely, she's upset with the dregs situation."
"Oh what is going on with the dregs?" Galvin asks as he leans in a bit closer to better hear. "I don't make it down to the dregs very often except going to the Alibi here and there. So what has been happening down there?"
Jack shrugs his shoulders, "I dunno, just shootings and stuff. The usual business from what I hear mate, nothing special - except it's happening to people we know, that's all" he explains. "Some gang war. I think."
Galvin frowns slightly as he shakes his head. "Gosh I wish things would get fixed down there, or the KDPD should try to get a hold on things. It is just a mess down there. I'm glad I don't make it down there as much. You go down there much?"
"Not gonna happen, right? It's like black market economic boost, so ... " Jack replies, and then shakes his head. "I've gone to the Alibi a couple times, that's about it" he explains. "I don't think it's a place for me. Nope, I'll stick to the sky and the nice part of town."
Galvin finishes off his beer with a long swig before setting the empty bottle on the robot leg that makes up the bar. "The Alibi is a pretty nice place, but maybe I just should not go down there until the business picks up and the dregs calms down." He gestures to the bartender for another bottle of beer and then shrugs his shoulders. "I don't know what I could do to help though."
"Wouldn't we all like to have an easy answer, huh? ... " Jack muses, and takes a sip. "You can donate to the poor, give them food, water, clothes for the kids, I don't know. There's probably plenty of ideas that would work."
Galvin rubs his chin for a moment before adjusting his glasses. "Well I guess a robot police force would work, but I would need a hell of a lot more credits inorder to make that." He says with a grin and a laugh. "Oh well I'll just have to see what I can do when I can do it. Clothes and food is good for sure."
Jack laughs, pausing for a sip of beer, and then he looks at Galvin again. "I see. You think big, which is good. Start small though, and don't forget there's other people. Robot police, though, interesting. I wouldn't reccomend it, given the skelebot horde..."
Galvin smiles at the bartender as he gets his next beer and takes a sip of it. "Well I bet I could take the skelebot horde and reprogram them to do some good. Maybe give them some basic farming and construction programs. Then send them out to farm and build housing. That sort of thing. Hmmm I wonder if I could reprogram one of those suckers."
Jack hehs, "Sure, but I mean, people wouldn't take well to them I think. I could be wrong, of course. And every newb that came into town would take pot shots at them and stuff. Kids would too."
Galvin adjusts his glasses again and takes a sip of his beer. "Well can paint them and put them in some fur suits to look like giant bunnys or something. Then won't freak people out as much and even if they take the occasional shot. People will not mind having housing built for them and food farmed for them."
Jack grins, "Giant bunnies. Okay" another sip, "Just make them all look like Robocop!" he chuckles. "I do wonder though, what good could be done out in the Dregs. I suspect nothing, since it's an economical center."
Galvin sips his beer again. "Well violence is usually lessoned when you take away the economic needs for it. So if you give them food, proper housing, education and then I think you will see a big drop in the fighting. So you have free labor helping our and that drops your costs providing that for them."
"Okay, in principle sure, yes, but that isn't the point. It is an economic center for the government here I believe, so they aren't going to fix it, and I don't think the black market operators will allow this either."
Galvin grins and shrugs at Jack. "Well luckily I have an army of robots to help discuss their problems with the fixes." He chuckles at that and takes another long sip of his beer. "But you know me no problem I won't think a robot won't solve."
Jack hehs, "I suppose it's a deep debate, and I'm not really equipped well to discuss it. Besides, it isn't like I'm going to be fixing the dregs, but I dont' wanna be mr. negativity about that, either" he nods his head a couple times, and pauses to take a few sips of beer then.
"Well I don't want to be either. I would like things to get better down there instead of worse." Galvin says with a slight smile and a shrug. "I wish I could help more then I am right now. I just don't like seeing people get hurt."
"No one does" Jack agrees, and hms, "Alright, maybe sometimes, but they're all bad!" he laughs and licks his lips, then takes a swig. "Where'd all the girls go?" he asks, blinking his eyes.
Galvin turns around in his bar stool to look at the rest of the bar. "What about that girl over there. She looks pretty cute even in those overalls." He says while gesturing to a cute female mechanic who is talking to some other guys and girls. He takes a sip of his beer and then shrugs his shoulders.
"Hmmm?" Jack leans back a little, and turns his head to look. "Not bad, hm? Under the coveralls is a sex goddess?" he chuckles good-naturedly. "Well, why haven't you picked her up, hm?"
Galvin shakes his head. "No I am waiting for you to pick her up. After all a friend helps out a friend. Go after her." He says with a little laugh and a shooing motion. "Come on go after her. Who knows you might have a fun time with her." He says as he leans back on his stool.
"Silly, silly man. Throwing me to the wolves, but fine - entertain yourself" Jack winks, and peeks towards the girl, then to the barkeep. "Hey, can you give me one of what she's having? Thanks" a few moments later, he's on his way to that table. "Hi there lasses, mates - how are y'all? I hope I'm not intrudin', I'm new here and I just wanted to get to know some people."
Galvin grins and reaches out to pat Jack on the back. "Good luck man. I'll be here hoping for you." He laughs softly and turns back to the bar to finish his beer.
