The garage area of Advanced Idea Mechanics is an extremely large single room, with a chemically treated (MDC) concrete floor. The walls, unlike those of the office are completely undecorated, giving the place a spartan, industrial feel. Which is fitting, considering the bustling of activity that is being undergone in this place. Most often, a suit of power armor or two is being worked on and occasionally a giant robot can be seen encased in scaffolding along one wall. At one time or another, just about any kind of job is visible being done. From weapon reloading, to repairs to outright radical modification. And it isn't just confined to robots and power armor, either. The occasionally light armored vehicle and even main battle tank are seen here on occasion. To help with the work itself the ceiling is fitted with huge cranes that move on mobile tracks, allowing them to lift into place things like weapons and giant robot limbs. For working on the latter as well, a massive support construct has been built into one wall complete with a crane of it's own, providing means to lift and secure for repair a robot that is missing both legs if required. Other equipment, from spot welders to laser torches to electronic toolkits can be found on benches and the like all through the area. As you watch, men in exoskeletons, sometimes assited by a vehicle or a crane carry things from two rooms visible down a short yet wide hallway, slipping under large blast doors. These doors close automatically behind whomever leaves, indicating perhaps that volatile materials are stored within.

Galvin has a protective mask over his face as he works on laser welding some new armor plates on a Sidewinder model SAMAS. He moves with expert grace and has no wasted movements as he works on and repairs the power armor faster then anyone in the shop. His laser welds are quick and strong. After welding on the latest plate he powers down his laser welder and gets up in the forklift to take the armor off to be repainted. Coming back into the building he casually brushes off some of the dust that has accumulated on his overalls.

Heading into the shop from outside Ash takes his motorcycle helmet off once he's out of the downpour going on outside and rakes a hand through his hair to make sure it spikes up properly and not being mussed by the helmet. He looks around and then approaches the nearest employee who doesn't seem to be doing something dangerous, asking, "Does a guy named Galvin work here?" Apparently trying to be pointed in the right direction. Water still runs down off his coat and the like, making a slight puddle where he's standing by the entrance.

Galvin walks over to the soda vending machine and hits a button for a diet soda and waits for it to pop out. Popping the can open he turns around and takes a sip of the soda while taking notice of the person that obviously doesn't belong in the shop. Raising an eyebrow and adjusting his glasses he waits for Ash to come closer before raising his hand in greeting. "Hi. What's up?"

"Looking for a mechanic named Galvin." Ash says, to Galvin, but he obviously doesn't know what Galvin looks like since he doesn't seem to be able to identify the person he's talking to as the person he's looking for. "An acquaintance told me to come here and find a guy named Galvin for some work." He smiles wryly, "So, if you could point me in the right direction... I'd be much obliged."

"Uh yah that is me although not strictly a mechanic." Galvin says with a slight smile as he nods his head. "I'm not sure what work you want, but if it is vehicle work you should talk to the office. If it is other work that doesn't have anything to do with vehicles then you shouldn't be in here asking me about it now." He says as his smile turns into a frown and shakes his head slightly. "Are you trying to get me fired?"

"Actually, I have a Speedster Hovercycle, Northern Gun that needs an overhaul and a bunch of body work." Ash says with a shrug, apparently not paying attention or at least having something to talk about that won't get him fired, "And I heard you were one of the best who would give me a fair estimate." He shrugs a bit, "But when would be a good time then?" He asks curiously.

Galvin nods his head slightly as he seems to be more at ease. "Well sure I can take a look at it. What do you want done on it? You understand that this work will be done through the shop right?" He takes another sip of his soda and shrugs his shoulders. "Well now is fine for vehicle work. I can give you an estimate pretty quick depending on what you want done."

Ash nods, "Sure, sounds good. It needs a fair bit of work, mostly body work and an engine overhaul, she's not able to reach her top speeds anymore. If you'd like to take a look I've got her across the way at the public hangar since she has a built in laser system." He tucks his helmet under his arm and gestures outside, "It's raining out there, might want to get a jacket if you've got one." He moves back over towards the door.

Galvin shrugs his shoulders at the mention of rain. "It is fine these overalls are pretty much waterproof." He says as he gestures for Ash to lead the way. "Well it will take a bit to get around to it, but I'm happy to start work on it. Is there anything in paticular you want done? Electric, gas, or nuke engine?" He asks as he takes out his hand held computer and takes a couple notes on it.

"She's Electric, and I don't want her souped up or anything, I just want her in pristine working order and tough as nails again." Ash says simply, "I'd love to put a nuclear engine in her but those are more money than I've got." He heads out into the rain and starts across the street towards the public hangar. "Need to know how much it'll cost to get her in full working order before I can even think about putting in a stronger weapon system or the like. She still handles alright, just not as quick as she used to be." Once they're out of the building and away from the shop a bit, "Sorry about that, didn't mean to give you a heart attack or anything. She -does- need work, but I know it's more than I can afford."

Galvin puts away his computer as the ruse becomes obvious. He frowns again and shakes his head. "I'm not sure what you were thinking coming into my place of work like that. You can catch me plenty of other places." He takes a long drink of his soda again before continuing. "Ok well what is it you actually want done then? If it is vehicle work needs to go through AIM."

"I still need an estimate." Ash says towards Galvin, "That part is true. Need to know how much it'll cost to get her fixed up." As they walk through the rain towards the public hangar Ash pulls up the collar on his coat a bit. "What is a pressing need though, is I need my armor repaired. It took a laser shot in the back and a vibro-sword across the chest." He looks over at Galvin and shrugs, "Seemed the most likely place to find you, not like I know where you hang out."

Galvin's frown turns into a smile as he nods his head. "Well armor repair is easy and isn't a problem. It doesn't take long at all. So how much damage is done to it?" He asks as he takes his computer back out and takes some notes. "Usually you can catch me at Nut and Bolt, or the coffee shop." He says with a quick shrug.

"Not enough to breach it thankfully." Ash says as he heads into the hangar and then takes off his coat, setting it aside to drip dry before he pulls off his chest plate after removing the arms and forearm plates so he can hand the extremely light weight armor over to Galvin, "See here," He gestures towards the furrow from the vibro-blade across the chest and shoulder, "And here." He turns it around to show a deep scorched and melted spot from a laser shot.

Galvin takes the armor from ash and runs his fingers and hands over it looking at the damage with a critical eye. "Well this will take about 6750 credits worth of material to repair it. It all looks workable. Just take me a little while to fix it. You will have leave it with me, and I will try to work on it as soon as I can." Turning he looks at Ash and shrugs his shoulders. "Sure sometimes I do. Depends on what you have to offer."

Ash walks over to his coat and pulls out a long e-clip, fully charged and then walks back over to hand it to the man, "How's this? Fully charged, made by the skulls. Should be top quality. Go for anywhere from 9 to 12 grand on the local market." He then says, "Or, I could probably get us into the junk yard and we could get our hands on a bunch of materials on the cheap, whatever we can salvage."

Galvin takes the e-clip from Ash and takes a quick look at it then back at Ash. "Uh well sure, but it is only going to sell for about 5k or so. When I do work. I make sure it is of the highest quality. You want to throw a few more credits on top of this long e-clip and sure I'll do the work for you, but it isn't like I am rolling in money. With all this barter I am not breaking even at all. I have a rifle I can't to crap with, and no one is buying. So lets say a thousand credits on top of the eclip and you have a deal." Galvin says with a slight shrug of his shoulders as he adjusts his glasses.

With a nod Ash says, "Deal." He then shrugs, "Those things aren't exactly easy to come by you know." He says with a wry grin, "But I can swing it." He shrugs, "Just figured you'd know buyers for that better than I do." He then starts unclasping the rest of his armor and setting it with the rest, so that his whole suit is off and a bit of a shiver rolls through him as he stands in street clothes, "Man, feel naked anymore without that armor... kept me alive you know?"

"Well cash isn't exactly easy to come by either, and I will have to put up all the cash for this." Galvin says wtih a slight shrug and a smile. "I don't get any better prices then you do. I'm sure. I'm working on a shoe string budget and just trying to get by and help people out." He takes the armor from Ash and starts walking over to his large Mountineer ATV. He unlocks the back cargo area and puts the armor in there. "Well I will get it back to you as soon as I possibly can. Should take about 3 to 4 hours of work.

"That'd be swell." Ash says in a sly drawl, "So only three to four hours of being insta-gibbed if I can't dodge the bullet." He considers, "Well, will have to do." He hmmms, "Maybe I should start up a pawn shop... Nah, to boring." He watches as his armor gets transported and then moves to pick up his coat and slip it back on, re-securing his gunbelts and the like so that they're tight and in easy reach without the extra bulk of the armor. "Hey, I meant it about that trip to the junk yard. You want me to get in touch with the Clash and see about getting an all day pass? Might be a cheap way to get hold of materials and salvage for you."

Galvin laughs softly and shakes his head. "Well if your that paranoid I guess you can hide out in your place. I hardly ever wear my armor, but I guess that is me. If you have the money to start up a pawn shop then you should be paying me with credits and not eclips." Galvin says with a slight laugh as he locks up the ATV. "I don't usually salvage but might be an interesting thing to do. I'll give it some thought."

Ash shrugs, "Would mean not having to pay for materials for a while, nothing but pure profit yeah?" He smiles, "Just a thought." Then he laughs, "And no, I think I'll just be getting hold of a hotel room out here for tonight... not going to try and walk to my apartment without my armor." He thinks, "I'll stay at the Happy Days tonight, so if you get finished can just drop it off over there for Ash."

"And possibly repair with faulty materials? Or make my products look like junk?" Galvin says with a frown and a shake of his head. "Maybe. I'll have to see what is down there. I don't really know how to salvage from a junkyard anyways. Well if you want to be super paranoid that is your right. I'll get it to you as soon as I can."

Ash chuckles, "Sometimes stuff will get junked because the engine or the axle is shot, doesn't mean the hull is bad, or the armor is shot. You'd be surprised. Besides, you should be able to tell what's good and what's not right away no?" He then grins, "Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean people aren't out to get me." He winks at Galvin, "The hovercycle is over here, if you'd like to check her out and give me an estimate?" He leads over towards where the bike rests on it's landing gear. She's definately had better days. (Down 43 mdc main body, all 3 jets down 15. 70% max speed (Dunno if that will get fixed when the mdc is fixed))'

Galvin raises an eyebrow and laughs. "Yes trust me I know. I work on this stuff for a living remember. Just about all of that stuff gets reused in these shops. It is a junkyard where everthing is just thrown away willy nilly. Anyways like I said I haven't gone salvaging in a junkyard before so wouldn't be of any help to me likely." He turns to take a look at the hovercycle and runs his hands over it for a moment as he examines it. "Well would take a decent amount of work. About 21,750 for all the armor to be replaced."

Ash nods, "Not as bad as I was thinking, that's good news. I'm just hoping that the damage is interfering with her airflow or something. That way when it gets fixed she'll be flying high again." He then looks back over towards Galvin, "Well, there you go. If they ask you what I wanted the estimate for at work, now you have an answer to give them." He grins and shrugs, "Hopefully, will see you soon." He tips an imaginary hat and then hooks his motorcycle helmet to the hovercycle since he's going to be walking, or running, out of here through the rain.

Ash nods, "Next time, I'll just hawk the clip so that I can pay in cash." He says and then he turns for the exit, stepping out into the rain and then zoom, the quick-flex is off and running! Mayhaps to test that myth if you get hit by the same amount of rain drops running as you do walking.
