Kingsdale - Plaza Park
Weather at Mon Apr 25 20:01:37 106 PA (12.03C, 53.65F):
Today a slow steady drizzle works at soaking the world. Not the most pleasant to be out in, but not going to kill you with it's harshness either. Just soak you to the bone if you're planning on remaining out in it for a while.
Wearing a cloak with a hood against the possibility of rain, Sage has decided to take a break from the commotion of the city in favour of the relaxed confines of the park. She had been wandering freely until she sensed a ripple of distress. A small frown touching her features as she begins to wander around to seek out the source of the feeling.
It's not the nicest night for being outdoors, and the park is all but deserted as a result. The constant drizzle blankets everything in a dreary grey pall, swallowing up noise and good cheer in equal measure. The lights around the park's paths are ringed by pale halos and their globes reflect in the puddles pooled around their bases, and the suffuse light makes it hard to see whatever might be in the darker areas in between. Rebekkah's not one to let weather deter her or spoil her mood. A knee-length rain poncho in a camouflaged pattern of white, grey and black obliterates the outlines of her figure but keeps the water away and leaves her free to enjoy her jog in relative comfort.
The cloak seems to be treated against rain as the moisture seems to bead and run off the cloak for the most part. As Sage wanders, she eventually comes across the animal that had through unfortunate circumstances injured itself. She makes soothing noises as she approaches the creature eventhough it doesn't seem to anxious at her approach. She crouches down beside it to pick it up gently and carry it into the light along one of the paths. She murmurs softly to the creature as she assesses its injury.
Rebekkah splashes through the rain, her heavy boots thumping noisily against the pavement and throwing up sprays of water in every puddle she jogs through - and that's a lot of puddles, since she seems to very deliberately lengthen her strides and weave along the path to hit as many as she can. It's amusing, to her at least, and she carries with her a bright and beautiful smile while having so much fun. The smile fades by degrees as she comes upon Sage, however. With the other woman's back turned towards her she doesn't immediately recognize her, but by the posture and tension she's aware soon enough that something isn't going well. She slows down as she approaches and then falls to a stop a small distance off. "Uh, is everything okay?"
Once she's content that she's noticed the main injury, Sage begins to concentrate as readies herself to direct her psychic energy. Her attention mostly on the animal instead of any passerbys. She gives a gentle carress to the limb with the seemingly broken bone. The voice seems to startle the creature who hops out of Sage's hands before showing only brief hesitancy to use the limb that had been injured. Once the creature realizes its new found health, it quickly disappears into the darkness. This all brings a delighted chuckle from Sage as she rises to her feet and turns towards the voice. "Yes, everything seems to be fine now." She comments, before considering the other woman. "Is that you, Rebekkah?"
Rebekkah blinks a couple of times and reaches up to draw the hood of her poncho back a bit and spill some light onto her face. "Yeah? It's Bek, hi?" She leans forward and bends down to squint at Sage's face, then smiles brightly again to recognize her. "Oh! Sage, I didn't know it was you. Was that..." She looks off after the animal, gesturing in that direction weakly. "Your dog? Do you need to catch it before it runs into traffic?"
When the other woman seems to had difficulty seeing her, Sage edges the hood back to allow more light to fall on her face. A smile touching her lips when they recognize each other before the hood is pulled back a little more forward to keep the rain at bay. She shakes her head, "No... I think it lives in the park... might have been a victim of a cruel person at some point today... but its doing better now." She comments, as she moves closer to the other woman.
Rebekkah offers a hand to help Sage back up, not that she needs it but it seems like a nice thing to do, and then her arms disappear back up underneath her poncho. "That was nice of you to take care of it. I wish they could stay around and at least say thank you, you know?" She glances after the animal briefly again, then returns her attention to Sage, tilting her head and redoubling her sweet smile. "Is that why you came out here? It's raining." In case you couldn't tell.
A murmured 'Thank you' comes to the other woman's offer as Sage takes it even if she didn't need it. She gives a chuckle to the comment about animals not sticking around to say thank you. "In a way it did, but I'm just glad that its able to move freely once more." She comments, before giving a shrug and a small smile. "I like spending time where I can forget about the city... it can be too busy, and noisy for my liking." Then she nods faintly, "I know, I sensed it long before it came." Her tone amused, "And how about you?"
"Ohhh," Bek breathes, turning her face up towards the sky and letting the rain drizzle on her cheeks. "I had too much energy and had to get out for a little while. I need to be at work tonight too, but it's going to be slow, so..." She drops her chin and looks to Sage and shrugs helplessly under her poncho. "I needed some exercise today anyway, I have another job coming up soon."
Having a close tie to nature, Sage has slowly adapted to the city where it has suited her. "Ah..." Sage replies softly, before giving a brief chuckle. "Well, we can jog around a bit if you like... if I get too wet, my apartment isn't too far away. Wasn't planning on jogging about." She says, "And, perhaps you can tell me about the job coming up."
Rebekkah bobs her head in easy agreement and sets off into her jog again, starting plenty slow to allow Sage to pull in alongside her. "I'm going to be a wolf," she states, glancing over with a vaguely lupine grin and a steel glittering in her eyes. "I don't know a lot about it, just that I'm supposed to talk to some Leonard guy. Like there aren't a bajillion Leonards in a city this big, right?" She might be exaggerating a little bit, but she huffs and rolls her eyes in exasperation. "He's supposed to hang out at that stuffy Alibi place, I guess."
When the other woman begins to jog, Sage is appreciative of the slow initial speed as she's able to catch up easily enough. She tries to manage her cloak as best as possible to keep it from fluttering too much behind her. The other woman's words spark a memory but it doesn't become clear until the woman elaborates. "Oh... yeah, there was this strange man that was asking a bunch of questions on day in the garden." She comments, "I suspect it'll have something to with the Coalition." She adds, before letting herself regulate her breathing a little to avoid winding herself pre-maturely. "I think I know which Leonard, though." She confirms after a moment.
"Yep!" Bek agrees. "Creepy guy in a big cape, that was him. But if you know Leonard you can introduce me, that's great!" She keeps her pace easy and relaxed so Sage doesn't need to struggle or wear herself out trying to keep up. "It'll make things a lot easier. Guys always get the wrong idea if I just go up to them and start talking to them, you know? It's like, hello? I can do much better than you, thanks." She rolls her eyes again and shakes her head lightly.
If it weren't for keeping the cloak in some semblence and she'd actually stretched before hand, Sage would likely be able to handle a brisker pace. As it is, she's content to reman at the relaxed pace. It makes conversing easier as well. "I'll see what I can do." Sage replies, "But, I imagine Leonard has been getting himself into enough trouble lately to worry about getting too wrong of an idea." Her tone laced with humour, "He's already paying most of his attention to one woman already anyway."
Rebekkah's eyes light up with mischievous interest. It's impossible to resist good gossip. "Really?" she prods, flicking another quick look over at her companion and flashing her a secretive smile. "Who is she? Do I know her? Well, how would you know if I know her, right? You barely know me yourself!" A laugh, brief but musical and inviting. "This is such a weird city. There's like, zombie-vampires clawing up out of the ground and people are more worried about whether so-and-so likes them or /likes/ them."
Not having really intended to be providing gossip, Sage seems to take note of the increased interest. Yet, her expression seems amused when she glances over to the other woman. She chuckles herself at the woman's comments. Yet, her next words are a little somber. "Well... we should hopefully be beyond the large influx of undead." She shakes it off after a moment, "But, I imagine you know of Leonard's interest... she speaks her bit over the radio. Perhaps you've heard Vixen's broadcast?" She asks as her tone rises back to more conversational as the topic drifts away from the unnatural.
"Oh, yeah, kinda. I've heard -of- her, but don't really listen to it." Rebekkah shrugs, losing interest just as quickly as she gained. "Her music's a little weak for me. But that's good, I can't tell you how many times since I've been here it's been, like..." She pauses, catching herself and shakes her head to finish the thought. "Anyway, if he's not going to try to mix business and pleasure I'm much happier. He's not a creep, right?"
When the other woman doesn't seem to really know the woman known as Vixen, Sage isn't entirely surprised that Bek seems a little less interested. The trailed off thought draws a curious glance but she doesn't seem to act upon it for the time being. "Tirzah calls him Lambert." She says with a faint chuckle, "He seems safe enough to tease and kid with... so, you probably don't have to worry."
"Good," Bek repeats with a firm nod. "How is Tirzah, anyway? I haven't seen her since we got back either. Has she been spending all her time at the library like she was talking about? With the maps and whatever?" The path curves around one of the little ponds, a relatively long stretch of pavement left without lights to brighten the way.
"She has been keeping herself busy since we've gotten back." Sage comments, "We've only briefly bumped into each other... so, I'm pretty sure the answer is yes." She keeps pace as they move into the long stretch of pavement. She doesn't seem to be overly anxious as she knows her senses will alert her if something seems likely to happen.
Sure enough, nothing horrible or even slightly threatening jumps out of the shadows, though Bek does get a little more nervous and anxious until she reaches the pool of light that welcomes the pair back to the illuminated part of the pathway. "Aw, that's too bad. Do you miss her?" Bek glances over at Sage again, her lips pressed together with shared understanding. "I met someone new the other day. I mean, not like -that-, and the creepy cloak guy scared her off I think, but she seemed nice. We had fun."
Offering the comfort of her presence and the sound of her voice, Sage tries to pass the time within the dark path. "A little, but I'm sure we'll get the chance to spend time soon enough... even if I have to go stay a night in her apartment to make sure of it." She says in a light enough tone, before she glances over to the other woman as the topic of someone new comes along. A quick grin is flashed, "Uh-huh." She teases lightly, before chuckling faintly. "I'd ask if you knew her name, but I may not have met her yet."
"Um, Maya. She's a nurse or something at the hospital." Bek nods to herself, smiling inwardly at remembering, as chaotic as the moment was. "I know a lot of people from work, you know, but they're all mechanics and operators and... you know." She maintains her easy pace and leads Sage up over the rise of a small hill, and over the crest the park's gate can be seen down below at the path's end. "I haven't really made a bunch of -friends-, just people I kinda know. So... I know how you feel, that's what I'm trying to say." She looks over at Sage again and smiles. "So are you wet yet? We're almost done."
"I think I may have ran into her once." Sage comments, "Seemed nice enough at the time." Her tone suggesting the encounter didn't last long enough to gain a full impression. As they begin to wind down towards the end of the path, she glances over to the other woman at the comments. "Well, I'm rather different than a mechanic or operator too... and you definitely wouldn't want me trying to fix anything that happened with your flying armor." The last part said with humour in her tone, "And, I imagine I'll feel the dampness more later..." She comments. As they come to the end of the path she looks to Rebekka once more, she speaks once more. "Well, take care of yourself, Bek, and its been nice talking with you." She says, waiting long enough for the other to reply before moving onto her next destination that likely involves a warm shower and some dry clothes.
Rebekkah comes to a smooth stop and clasps her hands together under her poncho as she turns to face Sage. "It was really nice running into you out here," she coos, her warm smile lighting her face again despite the water that drips from her nose, adding with a bright laugh, "And running -with- you too! But, zot, I gotta get to work anyway. We should get together or something, Tirzah too!" And with that she's off, offering a little wave before she jogs away in the other direction to get to the bar on time.
