From Chronicles
Ever wanted to have a romantic dinner under the twin moons of Sepion IV? Ever Desired to go sailing on the tropical seas of Tashinji? Or perhaps climb Mount Varmacle on Breldor Prime? Well then you've come to the right place! Jelani's Adventures is the sort of outfit that the rich, wealthy and powerful use to go on exotic vacations and thrill trips. Run by no other than Jelani Varness a still slim and attractive 40 year old Techno-Wizard with a flair for a life of adventure. With a sizeable staff of up and comming to vetran mercenaries and mages to suit all your safety needs, Jelani's Adventures sets out to do what few dare offer. They will go anywhere, under almost any conditions so long as you've got the pocket book to pay for the adventure. While they have a vast catalogue of specialized sites pre-arranged for assorted adventures from breath taking mountaineering and rock climbing, to romantic dinners, jungle walks and exploration of alien ruins, they will go just about anywhere a client could possibly wish.
The storefront itself is both stylish, and practical. Couches made from only the finest exotic leathers, potted plants from numerable worlds and etched crystal glass tables adorn the seating area and office. Along with this an assortment of promotional holographic pictures adorn the walls showing off the prime locations to which the company offers trips to. The immediate staff are all well dressed, polite, and clean. The sort you'd expect to be dealing with anyone who's wealthy enough to afford dropping 10 million creds or more on a simple six hour transdimensional trip for fun. Even the security staff here are almost in parade shiny armor, though they look no less well armed and competent for it. That said, it's not -too- uncommon to see some one who looks like some mere lowly scruffy mercenary walking in, or even working here tempoarily no matter how much they stand out like a sore thumb. Afterall Jelani's hires only the best (Or so they claim) personell they can find to staff their expiditions regardless of the person's apperance. And some of their clientel are hardly new to getting their hands dirty either.
Morning finds Tirzah ready for the day manning the reception at Jelani's Her jacket hung on a hook behind her her cobalt shirt presents a welcome impression with her outgoing smile and charm. Idly she organizes her stack of reservations and resolutions to file and interpret for the day.
Vargus clomps in from the street outside, rain sloughing off of his funky gooey armor. He stands, grumbling, by the entrance waiting for the outside of the armor to dry or absorb the moisture. After a few moments he holds his right arm out, and the armor ripples and liquifies collecting in a large thorny mound in his hand. He slips the mass under his cloak. "Meh... thought I could drum up some business out in that merc camp. But they all say they're here hoping to score a gig of their own. Not much disposible cash out there at the moment."
Looking up Tirzah blinks at the inset that came in from the weather. "Wow, we must really be getting noticed if the attractions are coming to us now." She remarks quietly to herself. But then the bizarre morph happens, leaving her mouth open for a moment as Vargus explains his attempts to find customers. "Oh I wouldn't worry about them, let them go find their way at RBJ's, I doubt they could afford us." She notes with a smirk once she's regained her composure. "Good to see you onboard though. Any services you have in mind to provide for us?" She asks, indicating she hasn't been informed of such.
Vargus pauses a moment, checking Tirzah's reaction. "Ohh, hadn't seen my armor before? Sorry about that.. I guess I take it a little for granted." he stretches his back a bit, and moves over to pour himself a cup of coffee from a convienient recepticle, and takes a sip. "Guide, or 'transportation facilitator'" you can even heard the quotation marks around that as he says it, "Dimensional information, portal analysis.... that kinda thing. Or, just hired gun with a mojo backup if needed. But mostly I try and swing my Shifterness."
Tirzah smiles at Vargus, her expression humorous. "Ah so its like the navy of old, where ever we have to go, you're happy to take us there." Giggling slight she continues. "Even been through some beach heads in my time." She pays careful attention to his reaction to the coffee, a test of his resolve. She would never drink the stuff, always content to make a pot of tea with her own herbs, their fragrance hinted even now.
Vargus seems to have made his save against the coffee, or he can't seem to taste it. He relocates to a spot near the reception desk and leans up to occupy a small section of it. Nodding his head in agreement with Tirzah's comment. "Yeah, that's pretty much it. Although, it would be easier if we could get access to the nearby nexus. So, I guess any of the really good stuff will have to wander out to one of the outlying nexus points outside the city. Bit of a hike, but, worth it." He takes another sip of tar, "So how about you? You don't really seem the type to just sit around and answer questions of people wandering by."
Tirzah smirks nodding to Vargas to show he's correct. "Indeed, like you I am multi talented. When I'm not doing the off shift of reception I'm a guide as well, usually scouting ahead of the main group, finding trouble so they can avoid it, and then extricating myself to go find more. I'm quite good at that i find." She explains for him before reaching to take a long swallow from her own mug.
Vargus's eyebrows quirk up. "Ahhh, sounds like we've got some skills in common. Should see if we could pick up some of the same gigs. Always nice to know someone has your back when you're sticking you neck out for a big group that stomping through the wilderness behind you. What kidn of escape mojo do you have? I think I remembered something about you being into elementals?"
Tirzah just smiles demurely and draws from her link to summon an inky darkness the coalesces around her. "Darkness is my most common, but I have a few other tricks too, diversions, deterents. Whichever is most apt for the job really. all granted by my link to the elemental plane as you recall." She explains and the darkness evaporates away. "What about you?" She asks, eager to know what the man who would have her back has up his sleeve.
Vargus nods, eyeing the dark blanket with a professionally appraising eyes. "Nice...." he leans around and looks at it from a few other angles. "I think we just have a lot more options then your average merc-specialist. Magic just really broadens your potential." he stops and thinks about that a moment. "Hummm... we manipulate potential. Potentialists?" He quirks an eyebrow, considering, then chuckles and shakes his head. "I guess 'mage' is as good as anything."
Tirzah nods her smile enduring though she notes he didnt answer her question. "I'm not one to class myself with those who actually study the arcane. My arcane potential is purely embued by the elements I am bonded to. And while it is still impressive, it cant be directed or manipulated like a mage's can." She explains to give him a better understanding. "And your potential?" she reiterates for him.
Vargus blinks, "Ohhh, sorry..." he settles back onto the counter. "Well... I'm a shifter subset called an artifact hunter." He stops and tilts his head slightly to the side. "Humm, I think I mentioned it sometime before. When Sage was here. But, just means I've got different training from your average shifter. More suited to merc work, where they're maybe more classic mages, into all the study and theory. But, I'm bonded to a god of magic from an ancient earth pantheon. He had some interesting things to offer, temporal magic being one of them. So, I have some interesting escape methods... like, phasing through solid objects and time warp.. although it works more on someone else. Also, as a shifter I can use the self-teleport spell at a reduced energy cost."
Tirzah nods taking in his words with particular notice so they may be remembered when it comes time to think strategy. "Oh that's very interesting indeed. My link to air has a means that will allow such 'phasing' for myself but not until I am much more experienced. But I make do well enough anyway. Then she seems to notice something as she pauses to think for a second. "You have more spells than that though right?" She asks expectantly. my other spells include conjuring a sleeping gass, levitating, a very devastating ball lightning spell, sheathing myself in flame, unleashing flames from my hands, firing fire balls, summoning flame friends, and of course with ritual, summoning a full elemental." She adds, feeling obligated with her own curiosity.

Vargus's eyebrows quirk up and he nods his head. "Oh, yeah... humm. I think since we can learn spells from scrolls, we give pretty descrete names for spells. Due to my shifter-like training, I have a lot of summon, control and transportation spells. Call Lightning, Compulsion, some protection circles.. summon and control rodents and canines... that's a ritual as well. Learned them, but, never really saw a need for them." He wrinkles his nose. "Shifters get a bad rep, and I think a lot of that is due to what some of them get into. And it's those that everyone hears about." He sighs and shrugs his shoulders. "Number of teleportation type spells... objects, or myself.. oh. Big one that you cast at a nexus point that can teleport hundreds, to another nexus that I've personally been to. It's good for moving large groups. Bunch of other stuff... and my own shifter abilities, with rifts and the like."
Tirzah looks quite impressed by the transportation mediums. "Oh that is quite the repertoire Vargus, well should i want to go somewhere far off, I'll keep you in mind. Summoning canine could be useful in all kinds of situations I think, perhaps compulsion as well." She notes out loud as she takes special interest in thinking out the possibilities of those.
Vargus grins. "Well... I would have had to have been there first. I really haven't been to too many places here on Earth. A little here in the midwest, a little on the east coast, and some in South America. I couldn't point on a map where I was down there, but I think it was in the north east. And if you find a random rift to jump through, let me know.. used to be my favorite form of entertainment."
Tirzah raises her brow at that, and muses some more with another smile. "Oh? I'll have to get you to tell me more another day. For now I should get back to this paperwork." She notes with a gesture to the stack she'd neglected to get to learn more of him. "We have access to the range to keep our wits sharp, perhaps you'd like to meet me down there some time?" She offers with a sly smile.
Vargus nods and hops off of the desk. "Yeah... sounds good. I still really need to work on my revolver skills. I picked up a technowizard pistol that shoots low-power bolts, but, doesn't work quite like I thought it would. Not based on energy pistols... more like what the gun is based on." He reaches up and wiggles the revolver in his chest holster. "But yeah... I'll keep an eye out for you, or give me a ring. My info's in the system."
Tirzah nods looking quite intent. "I will indeed, until then Vargus." She bids before turning to the stack and taking the first leaf and entering it in.
